"I love you Jack." "Love you too, Dem."
Mollie Winnard as Demi and Paddy Rowan as Jack in the second episode of Four Lives.
[Jack is playing pool with his friends, sees Demi sitting at a booth, hands his cue to a friend and walks over to talk to her. Most of the gifs are of them sitting together and talking and smiling. They're clearly very fond of each other. He pats her arm as he gets up to go back to his friends and blows her a kiss as he walks away.]

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2023 Masterpost
Tumblr media
Seachtain na Gaeilge, or Irish Language Week, runs from the 1st until the 17th of March every year. I am running a little event to celebrate. This event is open to anyone who wants to join.
As I only have the skills required to give about seven short lessons in Irish grammar, I will post the lessons from the 11th to the 17th, and I'll post something creative on every odd numbered day leading up to that point.
Further information below the cut :)
Timetable:
Wed 1: Folk song cover
Fri 3: Story based on an Irish myth
Sun 5: Lil' film club of an Irish short film (TW: onscreen character death & ableism)
Tue 7: Irish cover of an English song
Thu 9: Story in Irish (English translation in second chapter)
Sat 11: Simple Phrases
Sun 12: Possession, Seimhiú, and Urú
Mon 13: Counting and Numbers
Tue 14: Verbs
Wed 15: Prepositions
Thu 16: The Genitive Case
Fri 17: Tying it all together, and Saint Patrick's Day
I'll be uploading at 4pm Irish time (+00:00 GMT)
There may be smaller posts in-between these on the even numbered days, on the culture of "Irish names", a recipe for a Dublin desert, and so on so forth.
Anyone is welcome to join, whether its along with my vague upload schedule, or based on your own ideas around the Irish language or culture. If you would like your post to be linked in the masterpost, just tag me in the post and I'll add it to a list. Also Paddy's day pics will always be appreciated
The tag to block or use is "SnaG 2023"
Also if anyone wants to join a taglist, just say :)
Slán libh,
Rowan (nó Ruadhán)

Season previews: St Kilda (13th)
Last season: 6th (13 wins, 10 losses, 107.8%), 8th after finals Notable ins: Liam Henry (Fremantle), Paddy Dow (Carlton), Riley Bonner (pre-season draft) Notable outs: Jade Gresham (Essendon), Jack Billings (Melbourne), Nick Coffield (Western Bulldogs)
At first glance, Ross Lyon's return to St Kilda could hardly have gone better. Off the back of a 5-1 start (their only loss coming by a goal to the eventual premiers), the Saints returned to the finals after years in the footy wilderness. Following his brief time in the media, Lyon is no longer miserable and dour but has been rebranded as a funnier, cuddlier version of 'Ross the Boss'. A posse of old favourites in Brendon Goddard, Robert Harvey and Lenny Hayes surround the coach and the Saints are relevant again for the first time really since his initial stint ended over a decade ago. They proved the doubters wrong last season and the general consensus now seems to say that St Kilda will finish in the top eight again and aim to go one better by winning a final in 2024.
Tumblr media
Fuelling that belief is an impressive crop of youngsters whose progression the Saints will be hoping drive them forward. There is Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Marcus Windhager off half-back, Matteas Phillipou and Mitch Owens in the forward line, and they are now joined by Henry on a wing. As for more established players, Callum Wilkie and Jack Sinclair won All-Australian selection leading a solid back six that will benefit from another pre-season learning Lyon's defensive philosophies together. Rowan Marshall was unlucky to miss out on a blazer of his own, arguably the premier ruckman of the competion at stages. Max King would be aiming to shake off a year impacted by shoulder injury (he still managed 28 goals from 11 games) and finally unleash his full potential after only hovering around the tip of the supposed iceberg so far. Jack Steele played 21 games but appeared to be labouring from injury at times and will look to return to his damaging best.
The counter-narrative to all that rosy optimism can be found by drilling a little deeper into St Kilda's last season, specifically after that barnstorming start. There was a feeling as the year wore on that rather than being firmly ensconced in the eight, the Saints were barely hanging on to their spot. In those 18 games, their record went eight wins and ten losses with just two of those victories coming against fellow finallists. For fans hoping 'Ross 2.0' would embrace a higher-scoring brand of football, bad news: only five times did the Saints post a better score than the 2023 league average of 83 points per game. In fact at season's end, St Kilda had outscored three teams (Hawthorn, North Melbourne and West Coast). Lyon's staple, the stingy defence, was however back at Moorabin to combat this and none was stingier than theirs.
It may well be that Lyon did look to find more goals in his return to the Saints but has lacked the personnel and capability on-field to do so. Attacking entries were frequently uninspired and rarely to the advantage of their forwards, who ranked dead-last in the competition for scoring from inside 50s. St Kilda's centre rotation led by Steele, Brad Crouch and Seb Ross are all dependable ball-winners but lack class and quality disposal. They don't grow on trees but the Saints missed a trick not using the free agency and trade period to find a player or two that can spread from the contest and deliver the ball to King and company with more creativity. Henry operates further on the outside and Dow struggled for opportunity and was ultimately unwanted at Carlton for a reason.
Expect year two under 'Ross' to come with more pain than his first season back in charge. There are deficiencies on the list and when the defence gets picked apart as it was by GWS in the elimination final, the forward line will struggle to counter-punch. Lyon will be content to play the long game, establishing the side's identity for now and look to plug any gaping holes in a future off-season. That is a comfort that comes with being a Messiah-figure contracted for three more years who has, after the return of his disciples and the ousting of Simon Lethlean as CEO, few voices at the club to tell him otherwise.
Expect more of the same from the red and black, next up is Essendon...

FOLLOW YOUR OWN PATH !
for the employees of five novelty bars that make up “the long crawl” , the party never stops. only problem is: they’re not the ones partying. banded together by a route established by drunken college students over a decade ago, our bartenders have no choice but to try get along if they want to survive wave after wave of rowdy tourists and hipsters. what is there to do when it feels everyone is moving forward but you ? can these crawlers break the cycle they’re stuck in and find a way to join in the fun, or will they embrace the never ending road that is THE LONG CRAWL ?
THE RULES/OVERVIEW
muses should be 21+. fcs should be 19+. follow the age +5/-5 rule. we can discuss in some cases. please refrain from using problematic face claims.  muns should be 18+. there will be adult themes throughout. right now there are spots for roughly 10 muns, but we have plenty of space to expand if there’s demand.
NOTE: you are allowed to apply with two muses. they cannot work at the same bar, just so we can spread stuff out better. people can apply only as bartenders or dancers (only in the case of venom) just to keep everyone on equal ground and discourage power imbalances. managers will be npcs.
this is a very low stakes plot. there will be events and such but be prepared to focus more on character & relationship building ! ic drama is totally encouraged. ooc drama is not. i expect us all to be adults and communicate with each other. do not force shipping. please respect everyone’s boundaries. if you purposefully cause problems, you will be booted.
please try to be active ic OR ooc at least every three days. interest checks will be posted to ensure people keep their roles. no one will be kicked unless 1) there’s severe inactivity (over a week) 2) they don’t react to keep their role within the 24 hour time frame. and even then i’ll speak to you beforehand to make sure.
THE APP
( faceclaim, gender, pronouns ) everybody here knows first last !  they’re a bartender/dancer working at bar name. they’re a age in numbers zodiac originally from location. everyone says they’re one positive trait but also one negative trait. they remind me of 3 aesthetics and you can usually catch them listening to song here. their favorite drink is drink. written by alias, age and pronouns.
please feel free to send in mixes, pinterest boards, mood boards -- whatever you feel might help me understand your character better! please send them through submit.
THE BARS
MURRAY’S (1/4 SPOTS TAKEN) a good old fashioned irish pub. most likely place for a fight to break out. often full of regulars and older customers. didn’t consider themselves “themed” until they were lumped in with the rest of the crawl. inspirations: paddy’s pub from it’s always sunny, cheers. y’know, from cheers, the dive bars we all know and love.
VENOM (1/4 SPOTS TAKEN) a vintage vampire themed strip club/burlesque. high concept, but not unwelcoming. equipped with a main room, where most people on the crawl stop to drink, and an entertainment room, where the dancers and performers work.  inspirations: maison derriere (of the simpsons fame), elvira, the titty twister (from dusk til dawn).
COLONEL ANGUS (1/4 SPOTS TAKEN) the local gay bar. tongue and cheek, pastel and candy colored, thriving on comedy and camp. caters to all members of the lgbtq community with sapphic/feminine leanings. inspirations: but i’m a cheerleader’s production design, the works on john waters and david lynch, fans of the criterion collection.
CHEAT CODE (1/4 SPOTS TAKEN) a barcade with everything from vintage selections to brand new vr tech. expect theme nights and big screen super smash brothers games. retro-futuristic and completely neon & led lit. almost another planet.  inspirations: the arcade from stranger things, super mario world in japan,  scott pilgrim versus the world.
THE DOGHOUSE (1/4 SPOTS TAKEN) a cowboy bar. styled after old saloons and equipped with a trusty mechanical bull. home to square dancing nights and live country music. a welcome relic.  inspirations: wherever the fuck beiste took schue in that one episode of glee, coyote ugly, western nostalgia.

perfumed wrist, canticle, incantation
Perfumed Wrist (If you had a vast enchanted garden, what kind of magical flora would you grow there?): Okay, so Im feeling artsy and fun right now, so let me answer your question, with a poem.
Secret was that place
A place of soft and simple pleasures
Green stems and many petaled blossoms
shifting
In the breeze
And in that place, did many beautiful flowers grow
wild sown, each supplanting and supplanted
Stalks tangled like lovers or enemies
Magic was strewn about that place,
like seeds carried from far away by an enchanted breeze
laying their tiny charges to rest in the soft and fertile soil
Star flowers and calla lilies, roses, dahlias, forget me nots
Soft scented and soft whispering
Luring in the faeries from the wild stalks
And to drive them back again
were trees and blossoms of rowan,
alder trunks against the forests ringed around
oak and blackthorn, yew and mistletoe
and at the center
An ancient ash
branches reaching
roots digging
cupping its leaves around that place
old enough to know the beginning
and to have weathered the end
and to have begun
anew
That was fun!
Where were we?
Canticle (A song to play at your wedding or funeral): For wedding I’d say Marie’s Wedding (because it’s fun and Irish) and for funeral, either The Night that Paddy Murphy Died or Finnegan’s Wake. Or The Parting Glass.
Incantation (Favorite quote?): Either “The aim of ideology is to eliminate ambiguity” from Margret Atwood, if I’m feeling serious or “What I say is, a town isn’t a town without a bookstore. It may call itself a town, but until it’s got a bookstore it’s not foolin’ a soul.” from Neil Gaiman’s American Gods.
Thanks!

Magpies ready to handle Saints’ ruck duo
Collingwood are set for a stern task when they face St Kilda ruck dynamic duo Paddy Ryder and Rowan Marshall but interim coach Robert Harvey is confident the Magpies have got the right formula to prevail. The Magpies opted against calling upon Max Lynch to provide support to gun ruckman Brodie Grundy, who also pushed forward against Fremantle last week, and fellow tall Darcy Cameron, against St…

AFL: Saints rucks spark AFL upset of Tigers
AFL: Saints rucks spark AFL upset of Tigers
The role of ruckmen in modern-day AFL has often been downplayed but there is no denying how important St Kilda’s big men are to the Saints’ success. Star ruckman Rowan Marshall returned to partner veteran Paddy Ryder on Friday night for the first time since round nine, and reuniting the pair had an immediate impact as the Saints awoke from their 2021 slumber to stun reigning premiers Richmond by…

BIGGEST OBSTACLE OF TRAINING CAREER-- BEVERIDGE
Tumblr media
By Ned O'Bryan
The development of a team identity was the catalyst for modification, after an early season downturn according to Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge.
"We came into the year looking for our identity after it had actually been questioned post the removal last," Beveridge stated.
Beveridge said the players "didn't discover the balance," early in the season in between "the physical side and playing the video game," but it altered after two rounds.
"We came together and probably got back to the core of why we 'd be a great side," Beveridge informed the Breakfast Club.
"We found a really strong balance of playing the game and flying the flag for each other," he said.
Beveridge confesses assisting his players through the opening two rounds of the season after two losses was one of the biggest obstacles in his coaching profession.
The Bulldogs went 10-5 over the last 15 matches to declare 7th on the ladder, teeing up a removal last with St. Kilda on Saturday afternoon.
St. Kilda beat the Bulldogs in round 2 by 39 points, a video game dominated by the Saints' ruck duo of Rowan Marshall and Paddy Ryder, who won the hit-outs 49 to 12.
Much focus today will centre around Bulldogs ruckman Tim English, who's work after the contest can be an advantage, according to Beveridge.
"He's (English) actually improved at centre bounces. We're second to West Coast on score differential as far as centre bounce goes, that's partly what he does after the hit-out with the other 3 mids," Beverage said.
The Bulldogs will be excited to play in front of a larger crowd according to Drink, however notes the crowds, or lack thereof, haven't been a factor to this point in the year.
The Bulldogs will be well rested after their 13-day break heading into their removal final versus St. Kilda in Brisbane this Saturday.
The post BIGGEST DIFFICULTY OF COACHING PROFESSION-- BEVERIDGE appeared initially on RSN927.

Inconvenient Daughter

Publisher Synopsis: Rowan Kelly knows she’s lucky. After all, if she hadn’t been adopted, she could have spent her days in a rice paddy, or a windowless warehouse assembling iPhones–they make iPhones in Korea, right? Either way, slowly dying of boredom on Long Island is surely better than the alternative. But as she matures, she realizes that she’ll never know if she has her mother’s eyes, or if…
