Actually Hammerlock has been one of my all time faves since 2, so I'm happy to oblige!

He's extremely funny right out of the gate. I love claptrap but I'm sorry electrocuting him so he would shut the fuck up was honestly a top tier bit. Also his little march out for his intro cutscene..iconic.

I can forgive him being British for the fact that it makes his bullymong quest 10x funnier.

This is only a little embarrassing but as a child playing this game for the first time after I got to sanctuary and found Hammerlock I would do fuck all except hang out with him. Like I wouldn't even do his quests I literally just stood around him to try and engage conversation. Yes I was dumb...but I was also committed. I know a lot of his idle lines now.

And, you know this goes without saying, but LOOK AT HIS DESIGN

Gearbox can't improve beyond this. This is peak and they will never reach such heights again.

He's so silly just by virtue of being a steampunkish gentleman character in a sci fi series. But he's also silly on his own.

Idk uhhhhhhh lets go specifically borderlands for fandom related stuff

1. The character everyone gets wrong

Does it count if “everyone” is the writers because if so, everyone in bl3 was wrong except for Ellie and maybe Sir Hammerlock. Otherwise I think probably people fully didn’t appreciate Sasha from TftBL (because of the Jack brainrot) and she deserves better. Also Lilith. Because of the Jack brainrot. And so on.

5. Worst discord server and why

Lovingly, discord was absolutely not a thing when I was in the blands fandom. It was me and my buds on Tumblr and occasionally skype. I have no idea what discord servers there may be out there and I never will!

6. Which ship fans are the most annoying

Rhys/Jack. Wait do you think that because this has the words in it that it’ll show up in the tag? I might have a heart attack if someone who’s still out here in the year 2023 looking for “rhack” sees this post. I might throw up. Anyway I used to be one of these people and I stand by it: we were the most annoying fuckers on tumblr.

8. Common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

Handsome Jack is not in his fucking thirties. At no point in the games was Handsome Jack a man in his fucking thirties. He had an ADULT DAUGHTER in the Pre-Sequel. He’s AT LEAST 50 and people who think he’s younger than that are cowards and fools.

You know Hammerlock has always been one of my favourites ever since BL2 when it was kind of unpopular to think anything other than "oh ok he's a character" for the most part. I first played BL2 when I was 11 and years had gone by when I picked it up again (I was 17). The only things I remembered were Gaige and Hammerlock. This is to say I remembered girl with a similar interest in robotics as me and sarcastic British man with cool hat and robot limbs, because I was 11 when I played it.

But you know, I replayed bl2 and I still found myself enjoying his character more than most people. Bias from the 3rd game? I dont know, maybe. But he's just a really good character I think (despite the horrible bl2 DLC. Yes I tried to play it. No I did not get pass the first mission) and I'm glad that he got what seems to be one of the happiest endings in the entirety of the lore.

Did you know his 2 ideas for the cover of his almanac were either an OIL PAINTING of himself leaping over a bullymong with a rifle and a book in his hands, or the same thing but the bullymong is exploding. He wants to write a book on the Vault Hunters and give it a cover of your character and him high-fiving over Jack's corpse.
