I've been listening to "Time" by Beachwood Sparks from the Sandbox Sessions a lot lately. I've always been drawn to sweet pop in the Americana (I really don't actually like that label) style - The Jayhawks, Wilco, and The Autumn Defense are other examples.

Then, Rowan Smith's "Slow Clouds" came across my radar this morning. Smith was a member of Macguffins (Melbourne, Australia) in the late 80s and early 90s (Cloudberry Records has an excellent CD retrospective available).

After listening to "Slow Clouds" I almost immediately came across Misty Lanes "Colourless Green Ideas" on Third Eye Stimuli Records. Misty Lanes is the vehicle for the work of Steven Schouten. Bandcamp describes his music as influenced by The 13th Floor Elevators and The Kinks.

Tiga poin perharga didapatkan Belanda dalam laga Grup 4 UEFA Nations League A, Kamis (9/6/2022). Bertandang ke markas Wales, Cardiff City Stadium, Die Oranje berhasil menang dengan skor 2-1.

Ini bukan hasil yang mudah untuk diraih, karena Wales bisa memberikan perlawanan. Belanda memang mendominasi jalannya pertandingan, tapi bukan berarti Wales tidak berbuat apa-apa dan membiarkan dirinya diserang.

Pada menit ke-25, Wales mendapatkan kesempatan dari tendangan bebas dari posisi yang cukup berbahaya. Harry Wilson dipercaya sebagai eksekutor mengarahkan bola ke tiang dekat, sayang bisa dihentikan oleh Mark Flekken.

Historical reading list

Hello, world. A while ago I made a list of history books to read that would take me chronologically from the Big Bang up to the present. I did it on a Word document and haven’t had time to compile the list on Goodreads, but I wanted to post it here as a stopgap for anyone interested. There’s a penchant towards my own heritage, which comes through the United States and Mormonism, with, for instance, at least one biography on every American President (through Obama). But I tried to be broad because as I read these I want to gain a broad understanding not just of history but of different global cultures today; hence so many titles dealing with religion or mythology in general. There’s a smattering of fiction thrown in there where it fits historically, like The Iliad, Divine Comedy, or Uncle Tom’s Cabin, and I have other reading lists dealing with topics like art, music, religion (outside of history, like books about Buddhism or Joseph Campbell essays), and contemporary work in natural sciences/conservation/mass extinction, so by and large books relating to those things don’t appear here, but I still hope it’s useful. 1.     A Brief History of Time, Stephen Hawking

Twee verliefde hamsters winnen Gouden Loeki

Bij de verkiezing van de Gouden Loeki zijn vaak de kerstcommercials het meest populair. Vooral omdat daarin vaak families samenkomen en gezellig samen eten en dus een gezellige sfeer hebben.

In de winnende tv-commercial bereidt de welbekende familie van supermarktmanager Ilse zich voor op de feestdagen, als hamster Harry aan de overkant van de straat een andere hamster ziet. Niet veel later is Harry spoorloos en blijkt hij op zoek te zijn gegaan naar een soortgenoot. Vlak voor zijn familie hem vindt en weer alleen mee naar huis neemt, vindt er een liefdevolle ontmoeting tussen de twee beestjes plaats. Maar dan wordt het diertje gevangen en terug gestopt in zijn kooi. Gelukkig is het eind goed, al goed: tijdens Kerstmis komen de twee hamsters alsnog bij elkaar. De tafeldame noemt de lieve beestjes nog vertwijfeld ‘cavia’s’, maar zij heeft er duidelijk geen verstand van dat het hier om hamsters gaat.

Het is niet de eerste keer dat Albert Heijn -samen met bureau TBWA\Neboko- de publieksprijs mee naar huis neemt. Zilver en brons

De tweede prijs werd verzilverd door Staatsloterij (eveneens TBWA\Neboko) met de Fritsie-commercial. Hierin gaat het baasje van koekoeksklok Fritsie op zoek naar iemand die de klok kan repareren. Pas als Fritsie in een koffietentje een andere koekoeksklokvogel ontmoet, fleur hij helemaal op.

De bronzen Loeki ging naar Plus (bureau Wunderman Thompson) met de kerstcommercial Goed eten is samen eten, waarin hoofdrolspeler juf Mari aan tafel belandt bij een van haar leerlingen om vervolgens samen van het kerstdiner te genieten.

Net als vorig jaar was de uitreiking van de Ster Gouden Loeki op televisie te zien, in een speciele uitzending van Omroep Max op NPO1 onder leiding van Carrie ten Napel. Kees Boot, Hila Noorzai, Steven Brunswijk en Saar Koningsberger speelden een reclamequiz. Ook zong Ilse DeLange haar reclamehit Don't Hold Back en hadden 'bekende reclamegezichten' Harry Piekema, Patrick Stoof en Juliëtte de Wijn een rol in de uitzending. Irene Schouten reikte de gouden award uit.

Publiekspanel

Elk kwartaal kiest een onafhankelijk publiekspanel van GfK de 10 mooiste, leukste en populairste commercials van dat kwartaal. Dit levert in totaal 40 kwartaalwinnaars op. Deze 40 commercials zijn opnieuw aan een onafhankelijk panel van GfK voorgelegd, met als resultaat de 10 finalisten van het jaar. De winnaar van de Ster Gouden Loeki wordt voor 50% bepaald door het publiekspanel en voor 50% door het Nederlands publiek dat tot en met 20 februari kon stemmen op stergoudenloeki.nl.

Hoe je verder ook over de hoeveelheid reclamespots en momenten dat ze worden uitgezonden mag denken, het was een leuk en ontspannend programma!
