The Dark Crystal Tales comics featuring a stupidly adorable Garthim who tries his best to hunt and settle traps but keeps failing and look angry disappointed confused bored grumpy and surprised have me want to headcanon that even though they are artificial Frankenstein-monster-like creatures made from Arathim and Gruenak corpses, they gain just like the Frankenstein monster consciousness, and theirs is animal-like but still there, and they have differing personnalities (the one in those comics is stupid and naive), not just random killing machines who obey when you give them an order

And paralleling that new HC of mine, I want to HC SkekUng at first sees them as just weapons but now he sees them or at least most of them as his pets and likes taking care of them. Like taming them strictly sure but still patting them and rewarding them with a treat when they get the thing, treating them with an animal or a podling crooning "look at what I brought for dinneeer !", all of them wanting to hug him but they are huge and sharp and he almost gets killed several times "I SAID ONE AT A TIME !", washing them, healing them, playing go fetch with them using an animal or a Podling or SkekSil etc

SkekUng looking at SkekTek pampering and preening Sidetic calling him his friend : "ew nerd" bullies him whilst he built the Garthims

Also SkekUng : gives belly rubs to a Garthim who just slaughtered a Gelfling village "Who's a good Garthim ? Who's a good Garthim ?"
