Fantasy Seal- Incident Resolvers

-I decided to go with the throwing needles as Reimu’s (first) phantom weapon. I’ve just always liked them; they feel like such a unique part of her arsenal, and it makes sense for her to start with a weapon similar to Sakuya’s knives, since he’s the first person she learns from.

-I love it when an anime cast has a variety of school uniforms; it’s such an underrated design choice. ^^ And in this case, it gives me a chance to put the characters in designs with more obvious references to the canon.

-Sakuya’s younger brothers are possessed by a mysterious pair of vampires, who also seem to be siblings in Gensokyo. Most of their ‘incidents’ are fairly harmless pranks involving weather phenomena, doppelgangers, and destruction of private property.

-Remi is the older twin, with a cold and calculating personality. Of the two, he is much more purposeful about embarrassing Sakuya and making their incidents an inconvenience to him specifically.

-Flandre is the younger twin, who is moody and sharp-tongued, but quiet most of the time. He’s a bit of a pushover, and tends to go along with what either of his older brothers tell him to do…unless he gets angry, at which point he becomes very difficult to reason with.

-Sakuya has a bit of an unfortunate dynamic with his brothers (which I’ve definitely only thought about a normal amount): basically, he spoiled them with constant attention for far too long, and now that he’s getting older and doesn’t have that kind of time anymore, they resent him and try to get back at him for “ignoring” them…a development that happened to neatly coincide with the discovery of their powers. The end result is a trio of characters who love each other deeply but simultaneously make each others’ lives hell…so, just a normal sibling rivalry, pretty much. ^^

-Is this actually ‘Sanae’ (as in, not just the name of this representation of the character, but the actual same character with the same backstory)....??? I’m still a little undecided, but I’m leaning towards ‘yes’. ^^ I just think she fits well into this AU the way she is, as someone who’s canonically a human descendant of a god– only in this case, since Gensokyo isn’t a place she can move to, she instead becomes a bridge between the ‘fantasy phase’ and ‘material phase’, who can mediate between the two layers of reality and teach others to do the same.

-Plus, she’s older now! I love aging up characters!! :D Cool old ladies for the win!!!

-Meanwhile, a real incident is brewing at the local university…

LES FOISFOIS FAVORITE SONG FROM EACH TOUHOU SOUNDTRACK

th01 highly responsive to prayers: gotta be eternal shrine maiden. angel’s legend is good, but eternal shrine maiden just has what the PC-98’s soundboard did best. little beeps and boops that somehow sound so chock-full of emotion. fantastic stuff.

th02 story of eastern wonderland: love-colored magic is, of course, legendary, but my favorite for this game is complete darkness. absolutely masterfully work with that melody.

th03 phantasmagoria of dim.dream: obligatory respects to strawberry crisis to make sure i don’t get mauled for saying this, but reincarnation is my personal favorite off this soundtrack. there isn’t really a place to note this, but the SC-8850 version of reincarnation is fucking phenomenal, too.

th04 lotus land story: blah blah blah bad apple okay no but seriously it’s maiden’s capriccio. that’s reimu’s theme. i don’t care about this mystic oriental love consultation shit, this spring path crap. maiden’s capriccio. the imperishable night version fucks hard too.

th05 mystic square: this one is really hard. romantic children rules. plastic mind is unreal. the grimoire of alice fucks. but the best one in my opinion is alice in wonderland. extra stage themes tend to be really good, but i looooooove this one.

th06 embodiment of scarlet devil: locked girl ~ the girl’s sealed room. again being a contrarian here and not picking UN owen was her. cuz. i dunno. i like it.. be nice to me.. side note, but i love how the instruments in eosd and dolls in pseudo paradise sound.. idk, out of tune? it’s nice.

th07 perfect cherry blossom: there are a lot of really good ones here but i’d be lying if i said it wasn’t necrofantasia, contrarian though i may usually be.

th08 imperishable night: i don’t knowwww this one’s too hard they’re all so good.. illusionary night ~ ghostly eyes, nostalgic blood of the east ~ old world, flight of the bamboo cutter ~ lunatic princess, and extend ash ~ person of hourai all come to mind, but honestly i think i have to give it to love-colored master spark. i know it’s not “from” this game but it’s my favorite on the soundtrack, sooooo.. whatever. my list.

th09 phantasmagoria of flower view: wind god girl. “that’s from shoot the bullet” i knowwww shut upppp i’m not doing side games.

th10 mountain of faith: faith is for the transient people, full stop. the gensokyo the gods loved is practically the “touhou theme” to me, but sanae’s theme is like. in my top 3 favorite songs in the series. those guitars kick ass. this game’s soundtrack is phenomenal.

th11 subterranean animism: green-eyed jealousy. followed closely by satori maiden ~ 3rd eye. literally every song on this game’s soundtrack is a banger. a real no-skip album. but i am fucking addicted to parsee’s theme. it’s like bitter, ugly crying as music. i can’t sing its praises enough.

th12 undefined fantastic object: this game sucks ass but the music’s good. emotional skyscraper ~ cosmic mind is the best song.

th13 ten desires: it’s shoutoku legend ~ true administrator, but i wanna give a shout-out to night sakura of dead spirits anyway, because it’s great.

th14 double dealing character: kobito of the shining needle ~ little princess. but i mean. i am kissing reverse ideology on the mouth with tongue. i love you seija i love you shimmy you’ll get ‘em next time

th15 legacy of lunatic kingdom: honestly? unforgettable, the nostalgic greenery. i love the spacey sound of this soundtrack, and none of them capture that sound better than that. the lake reflects the cleansed moonlight is good for the same reason. i have a lot of love for the sea that reflects one’s home planet, too.

th16 hidden star in four seasons: not huge on this soundtrack, but my favorite song is swim in a cherry blossom-colored sea.

th17 wily beast and weakest creature: electric heritage. what a tasty piano in this one. the gorgeous melody is also present in entrust this world to idols ~ idolatrize world, but i like the piano in electric heritage better. idolatrize world is an easy second, though.

th18 unconnected marketeers: this soundtrack is so romantic. very lovely melodies. my favorite is the perpetual snow of komakusa blossoms. it’s memorable to me for whatever reason.

th19 unfinished dream of all living ghost: i’m gonna choose to limit myself to the songs that aren’t covers of existing touhou songs, cuz some of them are pretty similar even if i might like them “more”, like corpse voyage ~ be of good cheer. so i’ll go with the deviants’ unobstructed light ~ kingdom of nothingness. the vocal samples are cool.

Roukanken can cut through almost everything and kill ten ghost with one strike, Hakurouken can cut through confusion and its a family heirloom.

Besides Yuyuko, other popular ships with Youmo are Sakuya a cool, ninja maid, and Reisen Udongein Inaba a moon rabbit "only useful for sex appeal.

For Hua Cheng:

King of ghosts and ruler of Ghost City. So good at sword he beat 33 gods in duels. Canonically gay and in love with the former prince, current exiled god of trash Xie Lian. His sword is sentient and also his own eye. Its name is E-Ming and if it ever cut you, it can reopen the wound any time. It's really cute despite its reputation, wants to be pet by Xie Lian like a little kitty.

He's got a sword that is literally a part of him. He made it from his own eye. It's sentient and behaves like a puppy and I just really love E-Ming

Spoiler but he has a very cool saber thats (kinda) alive and made out of his own eye? Does that count?

I’ve mentioned him so many times but here he finally is lol!

Name: Chiharuo Yoritomo (頼朝 千春お, real name Prìomhadail) his Japanese name, while meaning “Thousand years of spring” can also be a homophonic sound to “父” or father, playing on his role as a father of spring.

Species: currently Aos sí (irish oak turned spriggan then ascended to Greater winged fairy Aos sí)

Ability: to control growth (成長を制御する程度の能力)

Age: between 45,000-5,000 years old. This mf was chilling with cave men. Physical form is around 60.

Chiharuo is the god of spring, childhood and fertility, residing in a long forgotten and overgrown shrine deep in nameless hill. He’s spent his years in gensokyo attempting to rescue children left there, but is not always successful. He’s a sweet old man, having his own sort of orphanage at the shrine. Most of his children are fae, but rarely he will taken in a human or yokai child.

Did I make Lily a whole family cause I love her so much? Yes, and here’s her dad. I like to think she gets so excited for spring because it means he will come out of hibernation.

Chiharuo’s born race I guess you could say would he that of a Cro-magon (early European, dating around 50,000+ years ago), which are no longer around obviously. If he had a default true form, it would look like a caveman made out of wood.

His current incarnation form is a male Asian, but in the past have ranged in race and gender. Here are some alt looks for him

His wings are based on the Lunar moth. They are often under his kimono.

His eyes are always closed.

Why I love Eiki so much? She mind be strict but she will always lead you to the right path. Eiki sees through you and can’t say anything wrong. She will patiently explain you how to become better and go to Heaven after death. Eiki Shiki is probably one of the most good people in the whole Gensokyo. She truly wants to help people to change for better. I will forever think that Eiki Shiki Yamaxanadu is the best and will always be the best. Also, her design is amazing. Her hat is so cool and interesting and especially I like the balance in her design which really fits. The balance between red and white. It shows her ability: seeing thing as good and bad. Great design indeed

Oh and about fanon stuff… I am that person who propagandas tall and canon Eiki. I HATE when people portray her as: short, angry and overall rude. She was never and would never be like that

I feel like lisa wilbourn tattletale could effectively slot into touhou. Not necessarily as a yokai or anything, or a parahuman. But just a human who has 'the power to deduce' and that's all. Right kind of personality and right kind of attitude. Has a propensity for yuri. It all works.

God, I could see it. Lisa is just the right amount of nosey and knowledgeable that, even if she was just living in the human village working some random job, she could probably manage to get herself wrapped up in some shenanigans. It's not as if someone like Mamizou wouldn't make time for an interesting human.

I do think a lot of the Undersiders wouldn't be terribly out of place in Touhou either. Hell, I had an idea for a story where post-gm Taylor finds herself in Gensokyo and kind of has to deal with the fact she's now just a girl in this world of larger than life people. She sees her father managing to get used to this new life they're living but she can't seem to adapt and its weighing her down. She sees all these powerful women out doing stuff she wishes she could do, fighting battles she wants to be involved in, and it's driving her crazy. She tries to turn herself into a youkai and Reimu has to give her a "if you even so much as come close to attempting this I will come back and kill you" speech. Fun stuff!!! God, I love Touhou

Musical Taste:

I feel like Yukari has taken the SilvaGunner technique about as far as it can go without any sort of digital media, and also without dedicating massive amounts of time or a purpose-built shikigami to working out the arrangements of traditional songs in minor keys or having romance songs segue into some Nick Cave nonsense. Which is to say, the poor creature is assumed to have no discernible taste in music by anyone who hasn't figured her out yet.

Sex, Love, Romance, Worrying Girlthing Behavior:

So the Yukari Hellweb I have in my head starts pretty conventionally- you've got Yuyuko and Okina as contemporary partners, you've got Kasen as an ex who's still wrapped around her little finger, you've got Renko in both the distant past and the far future. You've got some unethical thoughts of two different modes towards Aya and Reimu (and Mokou as well for the latter), you've got the whole Ran situation, which is not a sex thing but is definitely Worrying Girlthing Behavior.

I'll maybe got a step further out and suggest Yukari's been intimate with Suika, Yuugi, and the fourth deva of Mt. Ooe, though casually rather than emotionally involving. I also think she's got some perverse controlling behavior going on with the Child of Miare and her relationships that meant that learning about Kosuzu had her dancing a hornpipe. And probably at least a few Hakurei shrine maidens have had some realllll awfulposting happen to them.

General Thoughts:

Poor creature (said without any pity)! I think Yukari as a character is absolutely delightful- fragile in existence but demanding nobody can ever know (except her pink-haired ghost gf and maybe the lifestyle RP hatefucking god gf). Someone who's "in control" because she doesn't try to assert control, the spider at the center of Gensokyo and all that. I have to wonder what she thinks about Hecatia's irregular presence...

LGBT+ human villagers, particularly ones from the Outside World, begin to worship Chimata due to her ability to let one relinquish ownership through bartering (hey nice gender you got there, want to trade yours for mine?), her status as the god of the unowned, and her rainbow color scheme. Chimata is initially confused by this and questions some of the seeming leaps in logic, but quickly accepts her new faithful.

LOL love this. Chimata proceeds to introduce Gay Pride Parades to gensokyo but then finds out that everyone in gensokyo is already gay and parading around every day
