Unforgettable Whale Watching Adventures in Baja California
Baja California, the stunning peninsula that stretches along the western coast of Mexico, is a true paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Among its many attractions, one experience stands out as truly extraordinary: whale watching in the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean.
Each year, between mid-December and mid-April, the pristine bays and lagoons of Baja California become the breeding and calving grounds for several species of whales, including the magnificent gray whales. These gentle giants undertake an incredible migration from the cold waters of the Arctic to the warm and protected areas of Baja, where they give birth to their calves and nurse them before making the long journey back.
For those fortunate enough to witness this incredible natural phenomenon, the experience is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Imagine being just a few feet away from a mother gray whale and her newborn calf, observing their gentle interactions and the sheer size and majesty of these incredible creatures.
The prime locations for whale watching in Baja California include the lagoons of Ojo de Libre, San Ignacio, and Magdalena Bay, as well as the waters off the Pacific coast near Cabo San Lucas and La Paz. Reputable tour operators offer a variety of whale watching excursions, ranging from short boat trips to multi-day camping and kayaking adventures.
One of the most remarkable aspects of whale watching in Baja California is the opportunity to get up close and personal with these magnificent animals. In certain areas, such as the San Ignacio Lagoon, the gray whales have become famously friendly, often approaching the small boats and even allowing visitors to touch their bodies gently.
However, it's important to remember that these are wild animals, and responsible tourism practices must be followed. Reputable tour operators prioritize the safety and well-being of both visitors and the whales, ensuring that interactions are conducted in a respectful and sustainable manner.
Beyond the incredible whale watching opportunities, Baja California offers a wealth of natural beauty and cultural experiences. From the rugged desert landscapes and pristine beaches to the vibrant towns and delicious cuisine, there is much to explore and discover in this captivating region.
Whether you're a seasoned nature enthusiast or simply seeking a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, whale watching in Baja California is an experience that should not be missed. Witnessing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat is a truly humbling and unforgettable experience that will leave you in awe of the wonders of the natural world. https://www.greywhale.com/gray-whale-watching-in-baja/

So now that its been a solid 12 hours I have been able to sift through my computer and look at exactly what's still here.
I have all of Mishio, South, and Yukari's plain icons. But half of the ones I had edited for Mishio are gone. Luckily I can just remake those.
About 25% of Shie's are gone, and all of Minako's. Both of them I can get back, but Minako had about 800 and they took forever to save so I'm not sure that I super want to.
It's Blue I am the most upset about. I cropped and sized all of those myself from the manga. I did it slowly over the course of like several years. Every one of his icons, edited or not is gone. I had around 480. It just doesn't feel worth going through redoing all that work. Which is upsetting because I love Blue, I have always had a good time writing him on here and people seem to like him.
I'm not horribly pressed about the others but since I have Mishio's, what's likely to happen is either me redoing this blog or remaking a new one for just him. I haven't decided this fully yet but it just seems the easiest. I'm so sorry please just bear with me for a few days while I decide what to do.

Baja Bliss: Unveiling the Best Whale Watching Experiences in Mexico
Unlike any other, Baja California, Mexico remains the pearl of the nature lovers and adventurers ever bringing the world from the phase of incredible whale watching. Having rich marine biodiversity, and being at the annual migratory path of different kinds of whales, Baja has become a known favorite whale-watching site. Join us and unveil the enchantment that Baja is famous for by discovering the great whale watching spots located around its amazing coasts. Whale Watching in Baja California is the marine habitat of different species of whales which are in residence there for the entire year. Baja's waters are home to more than just these whales; humpback whales perform death-defying acrobatics, while the oceans keep secret the whereabouts of blue whales, one of the largest animals on Earth. A major hotspot here is the San Ignacio Lagoon, which is a recognized World Heritage Site. This lagoon becomes a resting haven for these gentle giants during the winter period hence creating an opportunity to have close interactions through opportunities of encounters. Best Whale Watching in Baja Mexico timing is dependent on the species, as the seasonal migration takes various routes. Gray whales predominate migrating from December to April to the Baja's warm waters to give birth and nurture their young ones. Occasioned by the tranquil and safeguarded lagoons, like Ojo de Liebre and Magdalena Bay, the serene scenery of mother’s whales’ nurturing behaviors and of their newborns’ amusement are presented to the eye. Humpback whales, the most impressive for their acrobatic jumps, are often sight in Baja’s waters from October through April. The essence of seeing these giants dive, and doing a powerful tail slap on the surface is an astonishing one while in Baja. This is a place you need to be if you are looking for a more energetic whale watching than any other.
For those who itch to see the planet's largest creature blue whale, the Gulf of California's Baja California is the place to be. When to watch these wonderful animals is between January and March, since they follow the nutrient trip in the waterways in search of food. Having a chance to watch a blue whale, big enough to rival a giant, gliding through the sea is an experience that makes a lasting impression for all lucky to arrive at such an occasion. If you want to experience the whale watching in Baja, I recommend you to choose a guided tour. Responsible and respectful underwater adventures are guided by well-known and experienced guides, who lead small groups. Such tours frequently give the mechanical explanation into the whales’ behavior, migration paths and the importance of the conservation raids to preserve these magnificent creatures. In summary, Baja California, Mexico, is a whale watchers’ paradise which can not be competed with any whale watching refuge in the world. Whether it's the migratory gray whales, the acrobatic humpback whales, or the sperm whale that looks like a giant blue whale, Baja provides you with a variety and magic of the marine spectacles. Going whale watching in Baja is not a voyage into nature alone. It’s a time to look at the magical atmosphere of the ocean and a way to become part of the conservation movement that works to protect those marveling animals. https://www.greywhale.com/gray-whale-watching-in-baja/

So I did a little research on Azores and found this blog called Geeky Explorer by an Azorean named Bruno. A wealth of information, you should check it out.
What I learned is that Azores has a pretty temperate climate, never really getting colder than 10°C (50°F) in winter. Having said that, it does rain a lot, with the most rain falling November to February. It gradually tapers off month by month until the driest months (July, August) then gradually rains more and more each month as we head back into winter.
For people who love the beach and swimming in the ocean, the best time to go is August, as it's not only hot but the ocean is warmer by then. July and September are also excellent beach-going months.
I, however, hate the beach. Suntanning is boring and I can't swim, and I'm not a huge fan of sand getting into my everything. Plus wearing a bathing suit means I have to shave all the unmentionables.
Is there anything to do in Azores besides hang out at the beach, though? Turns out there is! There's whale watching! There are 10 species of whale and dolphin that are commonly sighted throughout the year, plus many more that could potentially be seen if you're really lucky. Some species hang around all year, but others only show up for a couple of months. Prime whale watching season is end of March until July.
Another thing to do in Azores is to soak in thermal baths. I love thermal baths. Thermal baths, being thermal, are best enjoyed when the weather is cooler (i.e. not July and August).
So it looks like I'm a shoulder season kind of gal.
As luck would have it, there are low-cost flights still available from Toronto to Ponta Delgada at the end of March. I'm going to hypothetically book a flight!
The cheapest flight actually makes a stop at Terceira, which is one of the other islands. There's a layover of over 5 hours, which makes the entire flight a whopping 12 hours long! So I thought, if the plane is stopping in Terceira anyway, why not just book a flight to Terceira and continue on to Ponta Delgada from there?
The flight leaves YYZ in the evening and arrives TER in the morning. So you just fall asleep on the plane and you're in Azores before you know it!
Tumblr media
This flight departs Tuesday, March 28 and arrives Wednesday, March 29.
Tumblr media
Look at this. The price of the ticket is actually only $96.50! The rest of the $341 is taxes and "charges".
Tumblr media
You get one 23kg (50 lb) luggage and one 8kg (17 lb) carry-on included in the price.
Tumblr media
I've pretend booked it ✌️ We're going to Azores, baby!
Maybe I should learn a bit of Portuguese before we leave 🤔
