so... that was definitely an ending. I can’t say I wasn’t surprised with how most of the things went down with Gekkako and the Tsukikage members surviving. Even though the show has morbid moments, I didn’t really anticipate there being a true red weddingesque type of ending. A couple of things noteworthy about this episode:
A good fight nonetheless, but kind of... eh. It gave me Assassination Classroom vibes when Nagisa pulled up on Takaoka on the rooftop. Under any other circumstances, it would be a compliment. But, we saw Nagisa improving constantly every episode, while the only other fight Momo had was at Okinawa during the viking episode. Definitely a stretch for Momo to take on Tendou, who bested Yuki and Nagano. But it set up Yuki’s retirement, so I’ll give them +1 for the transition.
Dammit, Yuki. You were my favorite. Her retirement was alluded to several times throughout the season, so I wasn’t surprised in that aspect. Deciding to have (most of) her memories erased from her Tsukikage time, I didn’t expect.
Tere-chan should definitely be dead. I’m okay with the fact that she lived, but it would’ve been nice to see the emotional aspect of Hatsume saving Theresia when she literally got her wrists slit open vertically with a sword. It also would’ve been nice to see her adapt to the Tsukikage atmosphere - even in this scene she’s skeptical and a bit uncomfortable because she doesn’t truly believe she deserves this occasion.
Season 1 was a solid 7/10 but the soundtrack carried the show tbh. There were a LOT of loose ends with this anime, so it opens up the possibility for a second season (even after a 9-month time skip). If it is renewed:
Will we ever get a further exploration into doubling down on spyce?
I’m pretty sure she said this to just get a reaction from Momo, but this line holds some weight to it.
It looks like Hatsume has also retired from the frontlines?
for the love of god please expand on these two characters
A platonic but seemingly-oblivious friendship between these two would be interesting.

Training Montage
Release the Spyce
Episode 2: “First Challenge”
An episode Impression by WillDeezer
Episode 2: “First Challenge” acts as a training montage for Mom. The whole episode focuses on her training under Yuki Hanzomon. Come to find out, Yuki is a tough mentor. Momo is able to make it through the training and joins the Tsukikage. A small side story is about Moryo as they get information from a traitor in the Tsukikage.
We knew we’d have to go through this episode. The question is, did Release the Spyce do it creatively or interestingly. The answer is no. There’s nothing in this training episode that we haven’t seen in another anime. I was bored through most of the episode. The characters deliver their lines quickly and stiffly. It doesn’t feel natural, and it doesn’t make them more interesting. At the very least, we’ll be getting introduced to the rival organization. On a side note though, I like the music. The music of Momo chasing her teammate was sublime.

can you talk about meeting wyatt and wuwu
Oh ya!
So me and my friend Danny decided to hit up this really small art gallery in Hanzomon (Tokyo) bc I had seen on their friend Yuki Kikuchi’s ig (he makes music and is also friends w mac demarco and frankie cosmos!) that Wyatt and Wu-Wu were playing. So we walk in during Yuki’s bit and there’s at most like 30 people and Wyatt and Wu-Wu were just there listening w the rest of the crowd. So at first I’m too nervous to approach them but I went to use the bathroom and when i came out Wyatt was just “"there”“ so my nervous ass was like "love the garden man” and he was like thx!
And then Wu-Wu played her bit with Wyatt supporting and afterwards I told her I loved her show and she was super nice! And then for the rest of the night Wyatt was dj-ing from this loft area in the place, a couple people were getting autographs and stuff and eventually we had to go, and I wanted to say bye to them but Wyatt noticed me about to leave and waved first which was super cool and he and Wu-Wu thanked us for coming and they were just really laid back and nice and not pretentious. I also got to talk to Yuki and after his show and when I posted a vid of Wu-Wu’s performance on ig she asked me to send it to her to keep! It was a great night and i loved that the show was so small because I was literally 2 ft away from them, no stage no barriers, it was so Good.

Unbeknownst to everyone, Momo is an agent who works for the private intelligence agency Tsukikage, that protects the city and its people. Under the tutelage of her senior Yuki, and her other friends, they keep the peace in the city.” -ANN
