Rules: share five songs you’ve been listening to on repeat recently! i have been on epik high lockdown for the past week so i could just list their entire new album here lol. i will cheat here a litlle bit by listing the album but i tried finding other songs as well: 

Epik High Is Here 上, Part 1  (Full length album) So i have been listening to this on repeat and it is incredibly difficult to choose a favourite song, or favourites in general? though i must say In Self-defense hits differently, especially Tablo’s last verse is just *chef’s kiss*. I also want to shout out Lesson Zero because the lyrics hit hard man. 

Blue Moon - NELL (Tale of the Nine Tailed OST) I never intended actually watching this show and yet - this song and mv gave me the last push lol. nell is one my biggest loves in music and i fell in love with the song in an instant (and then i saw the video and was like. hm. okay. i might....wanna check this out). i have been listening to this alot in the past week and i am actually enjoying the drama too! 

Bad Karma - Axel Thesleff i found this at random and for some reason i am absolutely obsessed with the sound of it

Everything - SMNM my dear vishie showed me this and it has not left my mind since - especially the instrumentals of the song

혼  - Epik High i said i am on epik high lockdown and i mean it. Remapping of the Human Soul probably belongs to one of my fave albums (but pls don’t make me choose). i’ve been listening to this song a lot lately again.

 ‘멈추지마’라는 전무후무한 네이밍의 이 페스티벌은 이름의 독특함 뿐만 아니라 페스티벌을 구성하는 라인업에 있어서도 여느 페스티벌과는 사뭇 다른 모습을 보여준다. 국내 힙합 신에서 독보적인 위치를 차지하고 있는 에픽하이, ‘팬텀싱어3’ 우승팀인 크로스오버 성악팀 라포엠, ‘국악계의 이단아’로 불리는 이희문, 한국의 레전드 록밴드 중 하나인 봄여름가을겨울 등 장르와 시대를 모두 아우르는 독특한 라인업이다. 누군가에게는 조금 혼란스럽게 느껴질 수도 있는 라인업이지만, 코비드-19 판데믹으로 아티스트의 무대를 만날 기회를 박탈 당한 우리에게 주어진 더 넓은 선택의 폭과 다양한 아티스트를 발견할 수 있을 기회의 확장으로 볼 수도 있겠다.

좀처럼 흔치 않은 이 다채로운 라인업 중에서 우리가 좋아하는 몇 팀을 뽑아 소개하려 한다. 이 선택이 가이드가 되어 누군가에게는 새로운 발견이, 또 누군가에게는 좋아하던 아티스트에 대한 재발견이 되었으면 하는 바람이다.

4. 이희문 오방신과 Lee Hee-Moon OBSG: 뽕삘의 세계화

 오방신과는 씽씽으로 전세계적인 주목을 받은 소리꾼 이희문이 프론트맨으로 있는 밴드이다. 전통 민요와 굿에 쓰이는 무가의 요소, 그리고 ‘뽕삘’나는 한국적인 요소들을 팝, 글램록, 디스코, 사이키델릭 등 서양의 음악들과 조합하여 만든 음악을 선보인다. 화려한 음악과 어우러지는 이희문의 과장된 의상과 메이크업 그리고 스테이지 매너는 이번 페스티벌에서 그들의 라이브를 놓치지 말아야 하는 가장 중요한 이유이다.

한 인터뷰에서 이희문은 자신의 독특한 의상(드랙)에 대해, “한국 전통에 ‘박수’라고 불리는 남자 무당이 있다. 몸은 남자의 몸이지만 남자 신과 여자 신 모두를 받을 수 있는 매개로써 하나 이상의 성적 정체성을 필요로 한다. 내가 여성 캐릭터로서 연기하고 노래할 때, 내가 남성 소리꾼이라는 사실을 극복하고, 최대한 성 중립적인 느낌을 퍼포먼스에 전달하려고 노력한다.”고 이야기하기도 했다.

오방신과는 이번 멈추지마 페스티벌에서 다른 어떤 팀과도 비교할 수 없는 강렬한 에너지와 화려함을 보여줄 예정이다. 그리고 코로나 이후 전세계의 수많은 페스티벌 무대에서 그들을 볼 수게 될 것이다.

 5. 오칠 Oh Chill: 도약을 준비하는 두 동물

 오칠은 2014년 데뷔 이후 국내와 해외에서 활발하게 활동해온 2인조 밴드다. 그들은 언제나 그래왔듯, 이번 페스티벌에서도 날 것의 생동감 넘치는 락앤롤 사운드를 들려줄 예정이다.

오칠은 강렬한 록 사운드로 잘 알려져 있지만, 의외로 많은 사람들의 이목을 잡아 끄는 건 그들의 조용하고 감미로운 순간들이다. 김설의 파워풀한 드러밍과 윤준홍의 거친 기타 리프는 그러한 더 조용하고 부드러운 순간들로 인해 강조된다. 마침내 클라이막스에서, 기타와 드럼이 치고 들어가는 그 순간, 그들의 연주는 관객들을 춤추고 소리치고 뛰어다니게 만든다. 이렇게 오칠은 라이브 공연에서 그들만의 텐션과 분위기를 구축한다.

집에서 이들의 공연을 보며 텐션을 끌어 올릴 때, 아마 당신은 무언가를 부수지 않도록 노력해야할 것이다.

6. 에픽하이 Epik High: 힙합 대중화의 선구자

 에픽하이는 2001년 결성된, 한국 힙합 대중화의 선구자 중 하나다. 펑크, 록 심지어 클래식 음악까지 다양한 장르의 요소들과 랩을 결합한 음악을 선보여, 아직 한국에서 힙합이 제대로 자리잡지 않았던 시기에 대중들의 관심을 이끌어냈다. 그들은 2003년 서울 언더그라운드 힙합신에서 데뷔 음반을 발매한 이후 지금까지 총 10장의 정규 앨범을 발매했다. 데뷔 후 10장의 앨범을 발매하는 동안 한국에서의 각종 어워드 수상과 차트기록은 물론, 빌보드 ‘World Album Chart’ 1위 기록, 2016년 한국아티스트 최초로 Coachella 무대에 서는 등 국제적인 성공을 거두기도 했다.
