finally just got through the ACGAS season finale and oh…. my heart… I think this is the first time I’ve genuinely felt upset at the end of a season of this show, and not just because it means having to wait a couple of months for the Christmas special and then almost a year for the next season. the writers definitely wanted us to feel the weight of everything happening in the characters’ world right now, and man….. ugh >_<

Half way there ! What’s left?
So we are half way through Series 3 of ACGS! We had the big episode - the horse episode - last week. It’s going to be tough to follow that one up. They can’t all be epic! But what’s left, that we know about?
- Audrey going to see Edward
- We think Audrey/Gerald go on a date
-TB Testing. Helen’s Dad got more farmers to open up.
-Tris learns something about Evelyn/Siegfried’s relationship and his own upbringing
- Someone from the community signs up to serve, someone significant? Who? Hugh? Maggie’s husband?
- Sam West said that Mrs. Hall is safe, she won’t have to fear losing her place at Skeldale due to the war. Everything is “on the table” but they’re wise enough not to mess up ‘what works’. ??????
What’s Hanging out there?
- The war. It is hurdling toward the official start of WWII. Will Tris and James sign-up?
- Accounting for the practice. Will Siegfried let Helen have another look at the books?
- Christmas Episode. Will Helen be on the nest by then? Will Mrs. Pumphrey host this year? Will Edward come home for Christmas?
- Will there be a Christmas engagement? (Diana/Siegfried? Tris/Florence? Gerald/Audrey?)
- Will the rat get a name???

my season 4 hopes for All Creatures Great & Small:
- Edward coming to visit / stay at Skeldale, meeting the Herriots & the Farnons. lots of awkwardness, family dynamics and confusion and eventually forgiveness.
- Siegfried working hard to treat Tristan better, their relationship improving. wouldn’t mind if Tristan was the one pushing his brother away this time, at least until they make up properly.
- lots of family and cute domestic scenes between Audrey, Siegfried and the evacuee girl. just lots of cute domestic scenes in general, as per the usual.
- a new arc for Jenny would be great, she’s grand.
- more general delightfulness between Mrs Pumphrey & Tricki Woo
- something more concrete between Siegfried & Diana, whether that is moving forward in their relationship or breaking off. (I feel they’re leaving it simmering a bit too long, most of it being off camera?)
- Mrs Hall working on getting her divorce would be amazing. Maybe Siegfried helping her with the paperwork, securing a solicitor. Audrey & Gerald also figuring out where they stand would be nice.
- James & Helen expecting a baby would make for interesting drama considering he might be called up.
- a gay / queer character or three please, would love that.
- more cultural representation because this is one of the few period dramas who haven’t whitewashed their whole world and I really appreciate that. (but also didn’t go full Bridgerton, so it’s the area of realism)
- more handholding between Siegfried & his wife housekeeper please. would a hug be asking for too much?

ACGS 3x04
So this episode looks like it may feature the rumored date between Mrs. Hall and Gerald, as well as Tristan’s new car, and the return of Tricky Woo! Oh, boy! More change! Siegfried watching it all play out. It will be VERY interesting to see how this whole date thing is played. Sam has said Siegfried is trying to keep everyone together, but that he also has to learn to let things he loves go. Ouch. I have to remind myself of Mrs. Hall left alone by the fire with her games in S2E3 when Siegfried went on his date, and everyone was busy. Also, S2E4 when Audrey was clearly having a tad bit of reaction to Diana’s new entrance on the scene. At the time, my thought was is it jealousy? Jealousy of Diana being able to move forward? Of Siegfried/Diana? Or just overall fear of where Audrey would fit in if dynamics change? Is that Siegfried’s fear? Does he get left behind? Is he no longer needed? So many things to ponder and the execution of it all will be fascinating to sit back and see! I’ve said before that I think Siegfried is leaning into the whole patriarch role this season. It’s always hard to watch families grow and change. Happy for those you love. That’s the cycle of life, but it’s scary too, especially when uncertainty is all around.
