Happy 75th birthday to King Charles III of the United Kingdom!
Born 14 November 1948, Charles Philip Arthur George is King of the United Kingdom and the 14 other Commonwealth realms.
Charles was born in Buckingham Palace during the reign of his maternal grandfather, King George VI, and became heir apparent when his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, acceded to the throne in 1952. He was created Prince of Wales in 1958 and his investiture was held in 1969. After earning a history degree from the University of Cambridge, Charles served in the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy from 1971 to 1976.
In 1981, Buckingham Palace announced his engagement to Lady Diana Spencer and their wedding took place in St Paul’s Cathedral on 29 July of the same year. They had two sons, William (41) and Harry (39). Charles and Diana divorced in 1996, and in 2005, Charles married his long-term partner, Camilla Parker Bowles.
Charles became king upon his mother's death on 8 September 2022. At the age of 73, he became the oldest person to accede to the British throne, after having been the longest-serving heir apparent and Prince of Wales in British history. His coronation took place at Westminster Abbey on 6 May 2023.

The wedding of Pavlos, Crown Prince of Greece, Prince of Denmark, and Marie-Chantal Miller took place on 1 July 1995 at St Sophia's Cathedral, in London, England.
Pavlos, the eldest son of King Constantine II of Greece and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, was one of the first European heirs apparent of his generation to marry a commoner, which began a trend then followed by almost the rest of heirs of European thrones.
The wedding of Pavlos and Marie-Chantal brought together the largest gathering of royalty in London since the wedding of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1947 and more crowned heads were in attendance than at the wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer.
Pavlos proposed marriage to Marie-Chantal on a ski lift in Gstaad, Switzerland, over the Christmas holiday in 1994.
King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie officially announced the engagement from their residence in London on 11 January 1995.
In his announcement, King Constantine added, "I am over the moon about this."
Pavlos and Marie-Chantal traveled to Fener in Istanbul, Turkey, to be blessed by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople. Prior to their meeting with the Patriarch, Marie-Chantal announced that she would be converting from the Roman Catholic to the Greek Orthodox Church.
Marie-Chantal was received into the Greek Orthodox Church on 22 May 1995 at St. Paul's Chapel in New York .
The week before the wedding, Queen Elizabeth II hosted a tea party reception at Claridge's in Mayfair.
Marie-Chantal's parents, hosted an extravagant pre-wedding champagne reception, dinner, and ball for between 1,200 and 1,300 guests two nights before the wedding at Wrotham Park,
The wedding ceremony was conducted in Greek and was led by Gregorios Theocharous, Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain, and officiated by ten prelates.
Lasting more than one hour, the wedding ceremony was attended by over 450 guests seated within the cathedral and another 850 guests, including Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, seated at Hampton Court Palace where the ceremony was broadcast via satellite.
Marie-Chantal's pearl-encrusted ivory silk wedding dress with a tulip-shaped front and 4.5 meter Chantilly lace train was made by Valentino Garavani.
The cost of which amounted to 220,000 dollars.
The tiara was the famous Antique Corsage Tiara made of diamonds and pearls that Queen Anna Maria received as a gift from her mother Queen Ingrid of Denmark when she turned 18 years old.
Pavlos and his groomsmen wore hand-tailored suits by Brioni of Rome.
Marie-Chantal's parents also hosted an afternoon luncheon reception at Hampton Court Palace, which was also decorated by Robert Isabell.
The wedding expenses were a gift from Marie Chantal's parents and amounted to 8 million dollars.
Marie Chantal also received the amount of 200 million dollars as a wedding gift from her parents.
In Denmark by right, and elsewhere by courtesy, Marie-Chantal's style and title since her marriage to Crown Prince Pavlos is
HRH The Crown Princess Pavlos of Greece, Princess of Denmark.

‘Whatever “in love” means’: why Prince Charles and Diana’s relationship was always doomed
‘Whatever “in love” means’: why Prince Charles and Diana’s relationship was always doomed
To watch again the interview that the Prince of Wales and a 19-year-old Lady Diana Spencer gave to announce their engagement in February 1981 is to be transported back to a distant and far more formal age. Standing side by side in front of a gilded mirror in a grand room in Buckingham Palace, the couple appear reserved, barely exchanging a glance.
Charles does most of the talking; his fiancée…

There is something very wrong with this whole situation. What are they hiding?
Harry and Meghan will not release Archie's birth certificate to ensure baby's privacy
11 May 2019, 07:00pm
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not make their newborn son’s birth certificate public, in a break with Royal Family custom, as they draw a red line on privacy from his very first days.
The certificate, which will have to list the place of birth for Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, will be submitted as usual with a local registrar but not made available by the palace.
The decision, made in line with the Sussex’s strong views on privacy, is in contrast to the approach of the Cambridges, who permitted the birth certificates of each of their three children to be released for the benefit of the historic record.
The Susssexes, on the other hand, will seek to mask the details of where Archie was born for as long as possible, declining to confirm the medical team responsible.
Notably, a declaration of Archie’s birth on an easel on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace on Monday was signed personally by the Queen instead of doctors.
The Queen chose to personally sign the easel bulletin in "recognition of global interest in the birth", a royal source said last night.

The decision gives a telling insight into how the Sussex family will navigate Archie’s early years.
The baby, who is six days old today on Sunday, has been settling in to life as the seventh-in-line to the throne at Frogmore Cottage this week, with his grandmother Doria Ragland and family visitors including the sister of Diana, Princess of Wales.
Lady Jane Fellowes, Prince Harry’s aunt on his mother’s side, was among the first to meet Archie, keeping the memory of his late mother at the centre of family life.
The Duke and Duchess chose to specifically mention the Spencer family in their birth announcement, listing them along with Prince Harry’s paternal family in a message sharing their “delight”.
It followed the engagement interview of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, in which the former actress said that meeting his maternal aunts had been “so important” in keeping Diana as part of their lives.
The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were introduced to Archie on Wednesday, with a photograph of the occasion released, with other senior members of the Royal Family booked in for the coming days.
The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, who have been on tour in Germany since Tuesday, have been inundated with well-wishes to convey home, and are said to be planning a visit to Windsor in the next few days.
The Cambridges, who have been in touch with the Sussexes to share their excitement about their new nephew, will also pop round to Frogmore Cottage bearing gifts and wise parenting words early this week.
Tomorrow, the Duchess will celebrate her first American mother’s day at home with a child of her own, with Ms Ragland by her side to make three generations of her family.
The close family set-up allowed the Duke to last night attend the Royal Windsor Horse pageant with his grandmother, accompanying her to one of her favourite events in the royal calendar.
The unexpected outing is understood to have been planned during the Duke and Duchess’ short visit to introduce Archie to his great-grandparents, with the Queen having been to the Windsor Horse Show that morning.
She has been regular guest at the show all week, photographed driving to and from it to watch horses, riders and carriage drivers including her grandddaughter Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor perform.
This week will see the Duke take a day off parenting duties for a day of work in Oxford.
It will not, however, see the release of Archie’s birth certificate as fans had hoped. Instead, the couple will take up to the legal 42 day limit to register the birth.
The document, like all other birth certificates in the UK, must eventually become a public document available on request.
Followers of the Royal Family, historians and biographers had been particularly interested in its publication, which would confirm the mystery details of where Archie was born after widespread reports that a home birth plan eventually ended up in a private central London hospital.
It is understood that the medical team did not wish their names to be made public.
Others were curious to know how the Duchess’ occupation was listed, with the Duchess of Cambridge assigned the role of “Princess of the United Kingdom” in documents relating to her children.

Princess Diana wasn’t allowed to call Prince Charles by his first name until they were engaged
Summary List Placement It’s been 40 years since Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer announced their engagement on February 24, 1981. How royal women have shaped fashion
Tumblr media
It seems that nothing can stop the so-called "Meghan effect" - the phenomenon whereby every garment Meghan Markle wears sells immediately. The white coat of the Canadian brand Line, worn by Prince Harry's future wife for the announcement of the couple's engagement, proved so popular that the company's website crashed - soon after, the brand officially named the coat "the Meghan" ". Meanwhile, traffic on the Birks jewelry brand's website has increased by 400%, and even a simple black Marks and Spencer sweater has sold twice after Markle wore it for a public engagement. And this, even before the bride has been able to choose her wedding dress, which is already generating feverish speculation in fashion circles and, of course, will certainly give birth to new trends in marriage.
The phenomenon of royal women influencing fashion is of course not new. Just think of the "Kate effect" that the Duchess of Cambridge continues to create, not to mention the "Diana effect" of the 1980s and 1990s. But perhaps less is the influence of the personal styles of some royal women, long before the invention of the Internet or any other mass media. So what does it take to be a royal style icon? And how was it different - or not - at the time?
In 1863, Princess Alexandra, born into the Danish royal family, married Queen Victoria's eldest son, Prince Albert Edward, also known as "Bertie". Until then, Bertie was known for his many adventures and was known as a 'playboy prince', but the marriage was a great success, and the couple
It seems that Alexandra was exactly the kind of royal woman the audience wanted. "Queen Victoria had been in a mourning robe for years and was quite far from British society," Summers explains, "She was wearing an austere black uniform and did not attend the parties. Edward and Alexandra, on the other hand, were a dazzling couple who had an active social life and were considered more accessible. It was good for the royal family to reconnect with the public, having been so far away."
And it turned out that the popular Alexandra also became a great influence of fashion. "She was a fashion icon and people copied what she wore," Summers says. "She has forged her own look, she has invested a lot in creating her image and she has created trends, even if it was not necessarily intentional. "
Not that the Danish princess has enjoyed complete irish freedom and independence. Her future mother-in-law, Queen Victoria, insisted that Alexandra wear British lace for her wedding, rather than the Belgian creation that the King of Belgium had given the princess. "The Queen was absolutely keen for her to become British and it was important to show it," Summers explains.  "It was a new identity and he was told to align his identity with that of the British."
As a result, the wedding dress that Princess Alexandra wore was lavishly decorated with British-made Honiton spindle lace, asserting forcefully that she was giving priority to her new country. Orange blossoms adorned the dress, which was worn with a voluminous veil. The fabric design included delicate roses, clovers and thistles, the traditional symbols of England, Ireland and Scotland.
Alexandra insisted, however, on a modification, reducing the width of the original large crinoline skirt. Moreover, a few days after the wedding, the dress was, at its insistence insistent and without feeling, eliminated in order to be completely redone, reduced and simplified. "Alexandra preferred simple models," says Summers. "She had a different, more practical sensibility. She came from a branch of the Danish royal family that was not rich, did not live in luxury and her wedding kit was small."
Alexandra was the first woman in British public life to favour bespoke daywear, which was previously only associated with riding coats and other sportswear.  A Vernon cream wool cross-yachting jacket and an elegantly cut Jacket from Bussbein are two examples in the exhibition of what was then a bold new look. As Summers points out: "The tailor-made suit for women's daywear is now a proven formula, but until now only for men."
A perfect princess?
In the 20th century, royal women continued to influence fashion. As the Queen's sister, the late Princess Margaret had complex and often conflicting expectations.  She had more freedom to express her own tastes and was therefore seen as a fashion icon rather than the monarch.
As a young woman, Margaret was a favourite of the press because of her glamorous and fashionable image, but she was also intensely scrutinized and her love life often made headlines. In the post-war years, his worldly reputation and the shenanigans of the bohemian "Margaret Set" aroused great interest. And his recent portrayal in the television series The Crown has brought his sense of style - and sometimes his dissenting ways - to a new audience.
Princess Margaret's glamorous sensibility was felt very early on.  She was only 17 when in 1947 she met Christian Dior, who came to London at the Savoy to show off her iconic and revolutionary New Look collection. Margaret and her mother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, were both eager to see the collection. After the parade, the dresses were secretly smuggled out of the Savoy and taken to the French Embassy, where the two royal women were able to see them in private. Christian Dior described Princess Margaret as "a true fairy princess, delicate, graceful, exquisite".
She certainly made an amazing figure in the delicate Dior cream silk dress she wore to Royal Ascot in 1952. With its chiffon, boneless bodice, skirt and asymmetrical bolero, it was exquisite and delicate. Paired with elegant black elbow gloves and a cream and wide-brimmed cream and black hat, the outfit made Margaret a model of princely perfection.
A year later, Norman Hartnell's black and pink lace evening gown that Margaret wore at a Performance of Guys and Dolls was another stunning dress. It was only a few weeks after the press heard the news of his untimely affair with group captain Peter Townsend. The dress was a glamorous choice, without praise, suggesting a certain grandeur and a challenge in the face of criticism.
Margaret had a certain reputation for arrogance, but she also had her moments of convenience and diplomacy. When she wore a red and white cotton evening dress, it was an unusual and unostentatious choice of fabric for evening wear. It was actually a nod to the British textile industry in times of post-war austerity. As a member of the Royal Family, there has always been an underlying expectation to promote British industry.
How do 21st century expectations of royal women differ from the past? "There are always key considerations in each set, and royal women must always balance all the factors," summers explains. "Now I think it's similar, but more intense and more immediate. People have always wanted the dresses to be worn by royalty, but before, for example, with Princess Alexandra, the women of the court asked their seamstresses to make them something similar, then the ladies of the circles aristocratic copied them, and then it filtered to the general public. Now it's more immediate, it's directly on the street.
"In some ways, it was easier in the 19th and early 20th centuries because it wasn't the era of the media," Summers explains. "We were just dressing for a particular event - now you have to dress for everyone all the time.
"But even today, royal women would not go to an informally dressed ball," she adds. "People always want to see royal women dressed in beautiful clothes, they would be disappointed if they weren't.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall
A chance meeting at a polo match in 1970 marked the beginning of Camilla Shand's relationship with Prince Charles. The two – both aged 23 – began dating, but their romance cooled when the future King was called away on naval duties overseas. He didn't ask his girlfriend to wait for him, and she went on to marry – and have two children with – long-standing admirer Andrew Parker Bowles
The two remained friends, however. Charles was godfather to Camilla's son Tom, born in 1975, and continued to see his former girlfriend and her new husband on the social scene and polo circuit. While Camilla got settled into family life, Charles found love again with Lady Diana Spencer, whom he went on to marry in July 1981
Both of their marriages fell into difficulty, however. Camilla divorced in 1995, Charles the year after. There was controversy when Charles admitted he had committed adultery with Camilla while still married to Diana, but she chose to remain silent on the subject. After the tragic death of Princess Diana in 1997, the two kept their blossoming relationship low key. However, they made their first public appearance together in 1999, at a party at the Ritz Hotel in London
Charles and Camilla announced their engagement in February 2005, but the news causes public controversy and difficult political decisions, including the appropriate venue for their wedding ceremony. Two months later, Prince Charles and Camilla finally marry in a civil ceremony on April 9, 2005 at Windsor Guildhall.
Prince William served as the best man, and Camilla's ex-husband and his second wife attend the ceremony. The Queen and her husband, Prince Phillip, choose not to attend the wedding ceremony, but make an appearance at the Service of Prayer and Dedication held at the St. George Chapel at Windsor Castle, as well as the reception afterwards.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: Day eight of the royal tour
Tumblr media
PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle have waved goodbye to royal watchers Down Under, jetting off to the Pacific for four days of engagements that will bring global attention to environmental and education causes.
They were greeted by crowds of fans in Queensland’s Hervey Bay after spending the night on Fraser Island.
Their two-day stay in Fiji will kick off with an official welcome upon touching down in Suva in the afternoon, followed by a state dinner hosted by Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will then head to Tonga.
It has been a jam-packed trip so far for the couple who announced Meghan’s pregnancy after landing in Sydney.

The Duchess of Sussex pushed the boundaries of royal fashion yesterday, sporting a daring Reformation sundress ($A308) with a thigh-high split.

After a gruelling week of engagements, the Duchess cut back on some planned appearances on Sunday so she could rest.

The sheer style of Meghan’s dress has been compared to a see-through dress Princess Diana wore in 1980 at the start of her relationship with Prince Charles.
It was one of the first photos of the future royal that captured a rare royal style faux pas.

The couple left Fraser Island earlier today, after spending the night in a villa, and were shuttled down to a waiting charter boat at the Kingfisher Bay Resort jetty just after 9am
before heading back to Hervey Bay.
In contrast to yesterday, only a handful of curious tourists were on hand to witness the low-key farewell.
The couple waved to fans through the window of an SUV and held hands as they boarded the boat leaving the island.
Meghan and Harry’s arrival in Fiji’s capital of Suva will be followed by two days of engagements focused on the environment and education before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex head to Tonga.
In the meantime, Harry’s Invictus Games for wounded defence veterans continues in Sydney.

There have been moments, little quiet moments, when I have begun to ask myself, who the heck does Meghan Markle think she is?
Don't all shout at once. Hear me out.
Yes, love her. Yes, adore her. Yes, accept and believe her to be a breath of fresh air blowing through the fusty hallways of Windsoralia.
And yet, after four official public appearances and leaked news of two 'secret' missions of mercy to console victims of the Grenfell fire, one can't help but wonder where all this is going.
It seems far, far too early for Meghan to go into full Diana mode and unfurl any fondly imagined royal superpowers. Or to start believing that she can change the lives of troubled citizens merely by bequeathing a megawatt smile and a consolation hug around their luckless shoulders.
However, that seems to be exactly what is happening.
It is just three months since the American celebrity and Prince Harry announced their engagement. With only one Sandringham royal Christmas under her pencil belt, she is barely a stitch in the tapestry of our nation's history.
Yet, already, she is behaving like a cross between Wilhelmina the Conqueror and Florence Nightingale.
In Edinburgh this week, St Meghan of Markle clasped people to her bosom as if the mere strength of her huggy-wugs could vanquish their problems.
Perhaps she doesn't mean to, but in public she frequently slips into glutinous actress mode, as if she were rather hammily playing herself in some future episode of TV'sThe Crown.

Too many layers of the custard of compassion on this particular royal trifle is going to make us all feel a little bit sick.It is nice that Meghan wants to 'reach out' to the British charity sector and use her fame to become a full-time philanthropist and concentrate on her humanitarian work.Yet there are people in her own family whom she hasn't reached out to in years, including her own father. With the best will in the world, it does put her one-gal task force for international healing and her undercover visits to mosques to console survivors under a slightly different, less rosy, light.Charity begins at home — or it should, even for putative royals. However, to find meaning and truth in the role of a royal spouse is a mighty and difficult task. Recent history is littered with casualties and examples, both good and bad.Brittle Wallis Simpson was a woman of her time, one who cared for little except her pugs, her prince, her jewels and herself.Prince Albert married not just a royal, but a head of state to boot, and, like Prince Philip a century later, found a way to make a difference through types of energetic philanthropy.Diana set the gold standard for empathetic royal wives who worked with spirit and style for good causes, while Fergie . . . em . . . did not.St Meghan would do well to note that the most successful royals keep their distance and their dignity. They embrace unfashionable causes, as well as headline-grabbing ones. They attend flag-raising ceremonies in freezing South Korea, like Princess Anne. They visit farming communities in Cumbria, like the Countess of Wessex. They don't need to be loved and adored. They just get on with it.The Queen would never hug a stranger, even a needy one. She keeps her gloves on, physically and metaphorically, which is one of the reasons why she has endured.Meghan's biggest gesture to date has been giving up her acting career so that she and her prince can save the planet together — or whatever it is that they want to do.So I don't think that she is a phoney. I do think she is marrying for love. And I believe she has a lot to offer this country. However, the royal kind of fame is like no other. It can easily corrupt and be corrupting, for it is not based on achievement or merit, but upon status alone. And having said previously that Meghan can't wear £56,000 dresses and expect people to love her as she doles out broth in a soup kitchen, I now wonder if she and Harry shouldn't smarten up, just a bit. In her urban-girl uniform of black trousers and coats, straggly-haired Meghan turns up on official royal business as if she were on her way to get coffees for the office. Joined by a tieless Harry, they crash around, high-fiving, cuddling, rapping to order and generally getting down with the kidz. One wonders who is advising this headstrong young couple and where their unconventional approach will lead.In the meantime, lovely St Meghan should put a little starch in her shirt and stop trying to be a legend before her time.Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-5398179/Why-does-Meghan-Markle-need-huggy-wuggy.html#ixzz57ErSurUoFollow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook

Diana, Princess of Wales
Diana, Princess of Wales (Diana Frances;[fn 1] née Spencer; 1 July 1961 – 31 August 1997), was the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, the eldest child and heir apparent of Queen Elizabeth II.[2]
Diana was born into an aristocratic English family with royal ancestry as The Honourable Diana Spencer. She was the fourth child of John Spencer, Viscount Althorp and his first wife, the Honourable Frances Roche, daughter of the 4th Baron Fermoy. Diana became Lady Diana Spencer when her father inherited the title of Earl Spencer in 1975. She became a public figure with the announcement of her engagement.
Her wedding to the Prince of Wales on 29 July 1981 was held at St Paul's Cathedral and seen by a global television audience of over 750 million. While married she bore the titles Princess of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, Duchess of Rothesay, Countess of Chester and Baroness of Renfrew. The marriage produced two sons, the princes William and Harry, who were respectively second and third in the line of succession to the British throne throughout her lifetime.
After her marriage, she undertook a variety of public engagements. She was well known for her fund-raising work for international charities and as an eminent celebrity of the late 20th century. She also received recognition for her charity work and for her support of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. From 1989, she was the president of Great Ormond Street Hospital for children, in addition to dozens of other charities.
Diana remained the object of worldwide media scrutiny during and after her marriage, which ended in divorce on 28 August 1996. If the Prince of Wales had ascended the throne during their marriage, Diana would have become queen consort. Media attention and public mourning were considerable following her death in a car crash in Paris on 31 August 199
Early life
Diana was born at 7:45 PM on 1 July 1961, in Park House, Sandringham, Norfolk.[3][4][5] She was the fourth of five children of Viscount and Viscountess Althorp.[3][4][6] The Spencers are one of Britain's oldest and most important families, closely allied with the Royal Family for several generations.[7] The Spencers were hoping for a boy to carry on the family line, and no name was chosen for a week, until they settled on Diana Frances, after Diana Russell, Duchess of Bedford, her distant relative who was also known as "Lady Diana Spencer" before marriage and who was also a prospective Princess of Wales, and her mother.[4] Diana was baptised at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Sandringham.[8] She had three siblings: Sarah, Jane and Charles.[3][6] She also had an infant brother, John, who died only a year before she was born.[4][6] The desire for an heir added strain to the Spencers' marriage, and Lady Althorp was reportedly sent to Harley Street clinics in London to determine the cause of the "problem".[4] The experience was described as "humiliating" by Diana's younger brother, Charles: "It was a dreadful time for my parents and probably the root of their divorce because I don't think they ever got over it."[8] Diana grew up in Park House, which was situated near to the Sandringham estate.[6]
Diana was eight years old when her parents divorced[9] after her mother had an affair with Peter Shand Kydd.[6] In Morton's book, he describes Diana's remembrance of Lord Althorp loading suitcases in the car and Lady Althorp crunching across the gravel forecourt and driving away through the gates of Park House.[4] Diana lived with her mother in London during her parents' separation, but during the Christmas holidays, Lord Althorp did not allow his former wife to return to London along with Diana. Shortly afterwards, Lord Althorp won custody of Diana with support from his former mother-in-law, Lady Fermoy.[3]
Diana was first educated at Riddlesworth Hall near Diss, Norfolk, and later attended boarding school at The New School at West Heath,[3] in Sevenoaks, Kent. In 1973, Lord Althorp began a relationship with Raine, Countess of Dartmouth, the only daughter of Alexander McCorquodale and Barbara Cartland.[10] Diana became known as Lady Diana when her father inherited the title of Earl Spencer on 9 June 1975.[11] Lady Dartmouth, unpopular with Diana, married Lord Spencer at Caxton Hall, London on 14 July 1976.[6] Diana was often noted for her shyness while growing up, but she did take an interest in both music and dancing. She also had a great interest in children. After attending finishing school at the Institut Alpin Videmanette in Switzerland, she moved to London. She began working with children, eventually becoming a nursery assistant at the Young England School.[3] Diana had apparently played with Princes Andrew and Edward as a child while her family rented Park House, a property owned by Queen Elizabeth II and situated on the Sandringham Estate.[3][12]
Education and career
In 1968, Diana was sent to Riddlesworth Hall, an all-girls boarding school.[13] While she was young, she attended a local public school. She did not shine academically, and was moved to West Heath Girls' School (later reorganised as The New School at West Heath) in Sevenoaks, Kent, where she was regarded as a poor student, having attempted and failed all of her O-levels twice.[13] However, she showed a particular talent for music as an accomplished pianist.[14] Her outstanding community spirit was recognised with an award from West Heath. In 1977, she left West Heath and briefly attended Institut Alpin Videmanette, a finishing school in Rougemont, Switzerland. At about that time, she first met her future husband, who was then in a relationship with her older sister, Sarah. Diana also excelled in swimming and diving, and longed to be a professional ballerina with the Royal Ballet. She studied ballet for a time, but then grew too tall for the profession.
Diana moved to London in 1978 and lived in her mother's flat, as her mother then spent most of the year in Scotland. Soon afterwards, an apartment was purchased for £100,000[15] as an 18th birthday present, at Coleherne Court in Earls Court. She lived there until 1981 with three flatmates. In London, she took an advanced cooking course at her mother's suggestion, although she never became an adroit cook, and worked as a dance instructor for youth, until a skiing accident caused her to miss three months of work. She then found employment as a playgroup (pre-school) assistant, did some cleaning work for her sister Sarah and several of her friends, and worked as a hostess at parties. Diana also spent time working as a nanny for an American family living in London.[16]
Marriage to the Prince of Wales
Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, had previously been linked to Lady Diana's elder sister Lady Sarah, and in his early thirties he was under increasing pressure to marry.
The Prince of Wales had known Lady Diana since November 1977 when he and Lady Sarah were dating,[5] but he first took a serious interest in her as a potential bride during the summer of 1980, when they were guests at a country weekend, where she watched him play polo. The relationship developed as he invited her for a sailing weekend to Cowes aboard the royal yacht Britannia. It was followed by an invitation to Balmoral (the Royal Family's Scottish residence) to meet his family a weekend in November 1980.[17] She said "I've had a lovely weekend." referring to it.[17] Lady Diana was well received by the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. The couple subsequently courted in London. The prince proposed on 6 February 1981, and Lady Diana accepted, but their engagement was kept secret for the next few weeks.[16]
Engagement and wedding
Their engagement became official on 24 February 1981, after Lady Diana selected a large £30,000 ring (£94,800 in today's terms) consisting of 14 solitaire diamonds elegantly surrounding a 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire set in 18-carat white gold, similar to her mother's engagement ring.[18] The ring was made by the then Crown jewellers Garrard but, unusual for a member of the Royal Family, the ring was not unique and was, at the time, featured in Garrard's jewellery collection. The ring later became, in 2010, the engagement ring of Catherine Middleton.[19] It was copied by jewellers all over the world.[20]
Following the engagement Lady Diana left her job at the kindergarten and lived at Clarence House, then home of Queen Mother, for a short period.[15] Then she lived at Buckingham Palace until wedding.[15] Her first public appearance with Prince Charles was in a charity gala in March 1981.[15]
Twenty-year-old Diana became Princess of Wales when she married the Prince of Wales on 29 July 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral, which offered more seating than Westminster Abbey, generally used for royal nuptials. It was widely billed as a "fairytale wedding", watched by a global television audience of 750 million while 600,000 people lined the streets to catch a glimpse of Diana en route to the ceremony.[18][21] At the altar, Diana accidentally reversed the order of Charles's first two names, saying "Philip Charles" Arthur George instead.[21] She did not say that she would "obey" him; that traditional vow was left out at the couple's request, which caused some comment at the time.[22] Diana wore a dress valued at £9000 with a 25-foot (8-metre) train.[23]
The Prince and Princess of Wales spent part of their honeymoon at the Mountbatten family home at Broadlands, Hampshire, before flying to Gibraltar to join the Royal Yacht HMY Britannia for a 12-day cruise through the Mediterranean to Egypt.[2] They also visited Tunisia, Sardinia and Greece. They finished their honeymoon with a stay at Balmoral.[2]
After becoming Princess of Wales, Diana automatically acquired rank as the third highest female in the United Kingdom Order of Precedence (after the Queen and the Queen Mother), and as typically fifth or sixth in the orders of precedence of her other realms, following the Queen, the relevant viceroy, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Prince of Wales. Within a few years of the marriage, the Queen extended Diana visible tokens of membership in the Royal Family; the gift of a tiara and the badge of the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II.[24]7.

It is more than a style icon: Princess Diana
It is more than a style icon: Princess Diana
It is more than a style icon: Princess Diana
Creating a style is a whole pack. Princess Diana has become iconic not only through her clothes and accessories, but also through her refinement, simplicity, modesty, nobility, elegance, helpfulness and sensitivity.
Even after death we still know the icon Princess Diana.
Always a fashion icon, Princess Diana’s flair is as relevant today as it was when she first stepped into her famous outfits.
Diana – Princess of Fashion: How did she create a timeless and elegant style?
  Princess Diana
Princess Diana, also known as Diana Spencer, came from a noble family and was in close contact with the royal family because of her family.
Princess Diana (as she was called) was the wife of Charles, Prince of Wales. What millions felt like a fairytale marriage became a public scandal and then a divorce, and much of the public accepted it as the “princess of the people.” She was the mother of Prince William, who is currently standing in for a throne after his father, Diane, is a former husband and prince of Harry. She was also known for her charity work and fashion image.
Princess Diana Style 90s …
Lady Diana Frances Spencer was also known as Lady Diana and Lady Di. She lived from July 1, 1961 to August 31, 1997. Her actual title during the marriage was Diana, Princess of Wales, and not Princess Diana, although the latter knows her as she is known around the world.
Your life story
She was born on July 1, 1961 in Sandringham, a private property of the Queen, and spent her childhood there. Diana’s father was said to have worked for the royal family for a while. Her mother had left her as a child, and Diana had an introverted childhood. Her brother, Earl Spencer, remembered that even as a young girl, she was “incredibly brave.”
As a child, Diana read her aunt’s storybooks and was completely immersed in her life and never sent anyone into her private life. So she decided to hide for the marriage because she was sure she would marry someone who was important.
At school, the future princess failed all her O levels twice. Diana, however, felt she was meant for something important. “I knew something profound was coming,” she said in the documentary. “I just stepped on water and waited for it.” Diana, in her own words …
Princess Diana on the red carpet
Diana’s parents divorced in 1969. Her mother ran away with a wealthy heir, and her father gained custody of the children. Later he married Raine Legge, whose mother was Barbara Cartland, a novelist.
Diana was the third of four children. Her sister Lady Sarah Spencer married Neil McCorquodale; Before she married, Sarah and Prince Charles dated. Diana’s sister Lady Jane married Robert Fellowes, a deputy secretary to Queen Elizabeth II. Her brother Charles Spencer, Earl Spencer, was a godson of Queen Elizabeth II.
She renewed her contacts with the royal family, and her friendship with Charles grew in 1980. On February 24, 1981, her engagement was announced, and on July 29, 1981, they were married in a worldwide televised ceremony by an audience that entered the Hundreds of millions are counted. Her first child, Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of Wales, was born on June 21, 1982, and her second, Prince Henry (“Harry”) Charles Albert David, on September 15, 1984. Marriage problems led to a split between Diana and Charles in 1992, although they continued to perform their royal duties and participate together in the education of their two children. They divorced on August 28, 1996, with Diana getting a significant deal.
Prince Charles and Princess Diana
Diana’s unprecedented popularity as a member of the royal family in both the UK and around the world has garnered much media attention and has become one of the most photographed women in the world. Although she has been using these celebrities to great success in promoting their charitable work, the media (especially the aggressive freelance photographers known as paparazzi) has often been intrusive. In an attempt to avoid journalists, Diana was killed in a car accident in a tunnel under the streets of Paris in 1997, along with her companion Dodi Fayed and her driver Henri Paul.
Although the photographers were initially blamed for causing the accident, a French judge denounced them for any wrongdoing in 1999. Instead, he owed Paul, who at the time of the crash had a blood alcohol level above the legal limit, had prescription drugs that were not compatible with alcohol. In 2006, Scotland Yard’s investigation into the incident also concluded that the driver was at fault. In April 2008, however, a British investigative jury ruled that both the driver and the paparazzi had been found guilty of unlawful killing due to grossly negligent driving. However, she found no sign of a conspiracy to kill Diana or Fayed, a charge that Fayed’s father has long made
Her death and burial led to unprecedented public grief, testifying to her tremendous influence on the British national psyche. The picture of Prince William, then 15 years old, and Prince Harry, then 12 years old, walked solemnly with her father behind Diana’s casket in her burial place, became iconic.
People’s Princess …
After the divorce, Diana maintained her high profile and continued many of the activities she had previously undertaken on behalf of charities, and supported such diverse concerns as art, children and AIDS patients. She was also involved in efforts to ban landmines. To ensure that William and Harry “understand people’s emotions, their insecurities, the plight of people and their hopes and dreams,” Diana brought her sons to hospitals, homeless shelters, and orphanages. To introduce her to the world beyond the royal privilege, she brought her to fast-food restaurants and public transportation. Their compassion, personal warmth, humility and accessibility brought them to the premise of the “People’s Princess” …
Princess Diana caught the world’s attention as a royal trendsetter, but during her time in public, she also became a prominent philanthropic force. Diana worked tirelessly on behalf of charities around the world, drawing her attention to a number of important humanitarian issues. Twenty years after her death, Diana will always be remembered as a “folk princess”.
She changed the face of the British monarchy
In her charity work, Diana highlighted how the Princess, once known for her constipation, was in contact with the public. In her 1995 interview with the BBC Panorama, she said, “I would like to have a monarchy that has more contact with their people.” This statement became a personal mission for the princess. Diana was a patron of over 100 charities. During her many visits to hospitals, schools and fundraising galas, she was known to spend hours talking to people and listening to their stories. Although she felt that the media’s intrusion into her personal life was “unbearable,” Diana found a way to get people’s attention and the causes they most needed.
She regularly visited homeless centers
Although she had given up most of her charitable purposes after her divorce from Prince Charles in 1996, she became the patron of Centrepoint in 1992 and remained in the role until her death in 1997. Both William and Harry were used by the princess to see the help offered at the University of California charity shelters, and at age 23 William followed in his mom’s footsteps as he became patron. At that time he told The Telegraph: “My mother introduced me to such a place a long time ago. It was a true eye-opener and I am very glad that she did it. It’s something I’ve had close to for a long time. ”
She reached children
Diana showed a great affinity for young people and became champion for some of the weakest. As a patron of the Royal Marsden Hospital, known for treating childhood cancer, and the Great Ormand Street Hospital for Children, she has often been portrayed as a comforting child and has made a personal connection with many. On her work with the Royal Brompton Hospital in London, she said, “I travel at least three times a week and spend up to four hours with patients who hold their hands and speak with them. Some of them will live and others will die, but they must be loved while they are here. I try to be there for you. ”

How did Princess Diana become a fashion icon?
Although we are aware of the kindness and compassion that Diana, Princess of Wales, has spread around the world, her personal style was the first thing that impressed (and in some cases scandalized) the public. From her beginnings as a young, shy assistant teacher to her public life and her glamorous life as a queen, Diana’s style has left a lasting mark on the fashion world.
Shining dresses, elegant suits and bold mini dresses of the late Princess Diana can be seen in Kensington Palace marking the 20th anniversary of her death. The exhibition shows her evolving style.
In 1997, the influential fashion photographer Mario Testino photographed a series of images of Princess Diana, which Gianni Versace wore for the magazine Vanity Fair. These photographs determine the look and glamor of a woman who has become an important fashion icon of the twentieth century. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, the interest of the media in their image remained unbroken.
Lady Diana and her family
From that moment on, the princess became an international figure, photographed and documented wherever she went, and she became a global fashion icon.
Diana loved clothes. They were a personal passion, but also a prerequisite for their new public life. As one of the key members of the British royal family, their wardrobe requirements were set in a world that required ball gowns and matching hats, shoes, and handbags – elements that were not typical of young women in the early ’80s.
It is therefore not surprising that in the early years of her marriage she was led to established British fashion designers such as Murray Arbeid, Belville Sassoon and Gini Fratini, whose traditions of classic cutting for daytime and romantic evening wear date back fifty years. Diana, however, was determined to give this public and formal personality a modern and youthful personal style, and Catherine Walker, more than any other British designer, helped her develop an elegant, bespoke look that became her own.
In the two decades since her death, Princess Diana has joined the ranks of the best-dressed women in history, holding her status not only as the royal family’s first celebrity worldwide, but also as the ultimate fashion icon.
With the glitter of style and music, she rubbed her elbows, including her close friend Gianni Versace, who would wear her for many of her most luxurious performances (and who was tragically killed less than two months before her death). And though she has taken even more fashion risks later in her life, once she has fallen into the hands of the royal family, she has shown a deep sense of style in her earliest images.
Princess Diana’s aesthetic sensibilities cemented her from the British lady to the glamorous international personality to a modern style icon.
Even as a young girl Diana showed a strong understanding of fashion. This photo, taken at the age of 10 in 1971, shows that Diana was above the emerging trends of the decade, including floppy hats that would become the trademark of the prairie look:

On her honeymoon with Prince Charles in Scotland, Diana began to bring otherwise brave British fashion pegs like Tweed into a casual silhouette that suggests the 1980s:

Just two months before the birth of her first son, Prince William, Diana shows that she has begun to adopt the aesthetics of the decade: a well-shouldered, deconstructed coat and ruffled blouse that would have a lasting look for the 1980s businesswoman:
