I know this is a little dumb but I just love reading fics that have Kaz bypassing all of the Van Eck’s mansion security measures post-canon. For whatever reason it makes me smile. Like Kaz use the front door, Wylan and Jesper might let you in, and he never does. Good for him.

4. What is/are your favorite trope(s)?
Sighs dreamily, established relationships. Other than that uhhh I’m not sure. I remember that I did that trope game a bit ago n I was going through it like ‘damn I don’t really read 1/3 of these’. When I look for fics I actually rarely look at tags, just the summary so if there is a pattern I’m not noticing it jhjvjhhj.
 5. What is/are your least favorite trope(s)?
Love triangle…like…bestie…bestie...just be poly. It’s so fucking stupid to me like especially if the triangle is between a group of friends who are already really close and like each other. You already like each other just be all together?? Like yeah yeah I know most ppl prefer monogamy but I don’t and it’s MY ask so. Also anything to do with cheating cuz like what the fuck??? I fuckin lose it when ppl are like ‘It just happened, one thing lead to another, I didn’t mean it’ cuz like how the fuck did it ‘just happen’ you don’t ‘just’ sleep with someone who isn’t you partner out of the blue there are like, there are like several steps you need to consciously make before that. Also dumb jealously tropes, and any ‘you have to be in a relationship/have sex or you’ll die’ tropes for obvious reasons. Man you can really tell I pay more attention to tags I want to avoid then the one I actually like wtf.
24. What is your favorite canon ship?
Inej x Kaz from Six of Crows, it’s not an anime but there’s no beating them. Bardugo is really amazing with writing romance and I love all the ships in SOC very much but Inej and Kaz will always own my heart the most. I love how the problems of their relationships aren’t based on something annoying as a love triangle but some very real differences in their beliefs and personalities that any real life couple would face. Inej’s religiousness and empathy vs Kaz’s amorality and coldness towards other people. I love how they are both people with traumatic pasts and how they find support in each other but they are never there to fix each other. Like in a lesser story Inej would be helping Kaz through his baggage and he wouldn’t be helping her through hers but she would get over it anyway. They support each other but they don’t fix each other because love isn’t something that can heal trauma, love just provides a safe place where u can do so. I love how Inej is fully allowed to say to Kaz that he isn’t enough for her right then, that she can’t trust him fully and Kaz is upset about it at first but then realizes that she’s right and he never really did anything to make her trust him the way he wants her to trust him so he tries to do better in his own awkward way. I love how one of Inej’s conflicts is between pursuing her dream or staying with Kaz and she picks her dream over him and he even helps her to realize it, he doesn’t try to chain her to himself but he lets her go with determination that when she comes back he will be a better man for her. They are both so immensely hurting and by the end of the books they haven’t really healed, not completely because the things that they’ve been through, they follow you for your entire life. But they are on the road to recovery and they will support each other through it.
Also I love that they are p much completely asexual. Like yeah it’s for both of them a result of their specific traumas but there’s something so amazing in watching a writer build a relationship when kissing or even physical contact of any kind is completely off the table. Like here’s the most physically intensive scene they get in all the books: Kaz changes Inej’s bandages and then kisses her neck. That’s it! That’s all that happens! In any other book this would be a throwaway scene but in SOC it’s intense and powerful because they are both at the most vulnerable they’ve let themselves be with another person for a long time, they are both stepping into their own trauma to allow this to happen, I think Kaz almost faints. That simple kiss on the neck is some of the most romantically fulfilling stuff I ever read the scene is crazy intense, Bardugo said she rewrote it a bunch of times cuz she wanted to get it just right and man did she. Usually when writing romance physical intimacy is used as an easy shorthand to show the couples love for each other. And I’m not saying this is bad, I actually love casual physical intimacy so much, like two people being skin close so naturally it’s like they are one being all together. I just find it amazing that Bardugo set herself the disadvantage of not being able to write any physical intimacy between Kaz and Inej and still managed to write one of the most impactful and realistic relationships I’ve ever read. Like I usually talk about anime but this was what fell into my head when I read that question. Bardugo is amazing.
