At that time she had the privilege of meeting Bucks County artist James Feehan. Under his guidance Jeanne launched a new career path dedicated to painting still life subjects. The availability of instructional materials, workshops, galleries and museums broadened her vision. As a docent at the James Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA, Jeanne continued to gain insight into style and technique. The journey to the present has been both satisfying and rewarding. Jeanne has been juried into prestigious shows and has won awards. Many of her paintings are in private collections as well as the Trenton City Museum. The journey is far from over, however, for each painting presents new challenges and the joy of successful completion. "Extraordinary paintings of ordinary objects are intoxicating to me. They entice me to paint still life subjects in the realist tradition. My subjects of choice are often common, everyday objects which show the beauty marks of age and wear. The patinas of tarnished metals and discolored enamelware, worn surfaces and damaged edges invite me to explore the depths and nuances of their lights and shadows. Meet October’s #ArtistOfTheMonth Julie! @realcalamityj is a freelance artist in #CorningNewYork who works primarily in oil and watercolor paint. She attended Houghton College, where she received a BA of Fine Art in painting and sculpture. In 2019, after working several years in education and the nonprofit sector, Julie Waltz-Stalker returned to painting full time.
