A short journey later, they’re looking at a dark fortress. Spike looks at Majesty. “So that’s it, huh? Midnight castle?”
Majesty nods. “Yes. It used to be a copse of tall trees before he used his dark power to transform it. Now it is a foreboding fortress inhabited by monsters, most of which are also the results of dark transmogrification.” She turns to look at Spike as he looks over the fortress before them.
After a moment, Spike turns to look at her again and says “I don’t see a way inside. How can you confront him if you can’t even get into his fortress?”
Majesty nods “that would make it quite difficult to confront him. Look up. There is a ledge high above us that he designed to be the main entrance to the fortress. Thus a cursory inspection might suggest one must be proficient in either flight or teleportation to enter. But, we will use a different entry point. There is a hidden door at the base. We will need to traverse the moat to reach it, but it will allow both of us easy entry. Come. We will call upon the sea ponies for assistance.”
Spike nods “got it. Let’s do this.”
Majesty and Spike approach the moat and Majesty calls out “sea ponies, we are in need of your assistance. Please appear to us now.”
After a moment, a trio of sea ponies surface, the leader of the group saying “greetings, Majesty. How might we help you and Spike?”
Majesty smiles “we need to traverse this moat. It would be a much safer trip with a vessel. I know the exact point we must reach.”
The lead sea pony nods in understanding, then looks at the other two, who quickly disappear beneath the water again, soon resurfacing lashed to a giant clam shell.
A moment later, the sea ponies have transported Majesty and Spike in accordance with Majesty’s directions to a point beneath a gargoyle on the fortress. They bring the shell as close as possible to the wall, then Majesty looks at Spike “I’m certain I could’ve found a way to do this if I had been alone, but I will admit that having you with me presents an opportunity for achieving the desired result with greater ease. Sea ponies, please pay close attention. You will need to remember what you are about to witness. Spike, climb up above the gargoyle and jump upon its head. I will catch you on your way back down.”
Spike nods, then proceeds to follow Majesty’s instructions, quickly reaching the necessary position and jumping down upon the Gargoyle’s head, being caught by Majesty. The gargoyle’s head turns downward and a section of the wall opens.
Majesty smiles “and there is our entryway. Sea ponies, thank you for your help. Both now and in the past. Also, for good measure, in the future. However, I fear that this will be the last time you will help me myself. I must now bid you farewell and go to confront my fate. Thank you once more for everything. Farewell.”
The sea ponies nod as the leader says “farewell Majesty. Our descendants will watch for your return.”
Majesty nods, then turns to look at Spike. “It’s time.” The dragon nods as the two of them go into the fortress, the hidden door closing behind them.
As they go, Spike looks around. They walk in silence for a while before he finally asks “Majesty, I already know what’s going to happen to me. You’ve told me, and I don’t have a shadow of doubt in what you have said. That being said, though I won’t remember, I’d like it if you would tell me what’ll happen to everyone else.”
Majesty nods “I will happily grant your request, Spike, though my vision going forward from this is cloudy at times. Following my defeat, a great struggle for dominance will occur in Dream Valley. The adversary, Tirek will slowly begin to overwhelm the land, bringing division and seclusion to those most affected by his reign of terror. The Moochik will scarcely leave his mushromp during this time, not out of fear, but out of a subconscious knowledge that he is waiting for something or someone to appear. The flutter ponies will retreat to the Flutter Valley region. It will be some time before contact with them is re-established. The sea ponies as ever will be willing to help those who need it, and will always have a connection to their land dwelling relatives. Those who remain aware of my existence will be confused by my disappearance, and over time many of them will commit to searching for me. Finally, when Tirek is on the verge of fully conquering this land, one of my children will take it upon themselves to leave and search for help. They will cross the Rainbow Bridge and on the other side, they will find she who is to become the stalwart defender of our loved ones, and more besides. Of her identity, I know little, but I see her so clearly in my minds eye that I know she will save my children time and time again. I see a human girl dressed in working attire typical of human farmers. Blond hair, fierce eyes, with my children standing behind her for protection. She holds aloft… the Rainbow of Light. I feel certain that she is somehow involved in its completion. But… more I cannot say. My vision dims to near blindness when I try to see past the vision of her.” Majesty sighs, shaking her head before looking at Spike again.
Spike hmms, tilting his head before looking at Majesty again “do you think she’ll bring everyone back together?”
Majesty smiles “I think she will try. Whether or not she succeeds, time will tell. We are approaching the throne room now. This is where I will do battle with Tirek. If you have anything else you want to say to me, now is the best time.”
Spike nods, then looks at Majesty and says “there’s just one thing I can think of that I want to say. And that is… thanks for giving me life, mom. I’ve really enjoyed it.”
Majesty nods. “My pleasure, Spike. Good luck in your future adventures.”
With that, the two enter the throne room. The battle Rey witnesses is one sided from the beginning. Majesty is clearly an exceptionally powerful unicorn, likely the most powerful unicorn Rey has ever seen, but Tirek is on another level to her. But strangely, though she takes one crushing blow after another, she somehow keeps getting up again to continue the fight. The more she does this, the more Rey suspects that she might be more than she appears to be. The clues that Rey disregarded as not being connected to where she’s imprisoned begin to come together. Finally, Tirek sends her flying into the wall with an audible crack, Majesty falling to the floor with her head at an odd angle.
Tirek smirks. “That’s that. It took longer than I expected, but the queen of Dream Valley is finally dead.” He turns to return to his throne before hearing the sound of a hoof scratching rock. He turns back to behold Majesty getting up again, an audible snap accompanying her head returning to a normal position. “What?”
Majesty begins to laugh, her head tilted back as she loudly proclaims her amusement to all who are near enough to hear. “Hahaha. You think you’re capable of bringing me to that fate?! Hahahaha. I’m frankly amazed you haven’t realized yet. How many times should one of your attacks have killed a mere unicorn by now? Ten? Fifteen? Or more? I should have been dead many times over by now if you were capable of consigning me to that fate. Think of it Tirek! My bones should be dust, my organs liquified if I was only what I appear to be! But no. I am more. And because of what, of who I am, the likes of you could never end my life, no matter what you tried. In fact, I have grown over the eons of my life to quite enjoy such experiences. Like a refreshing massage or a day at a spa. Hehe. Thank you for showing me such a good time, Tirek. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed our battle.”
Tirek hmms. “More than you appear? Eons of life? Surely you aren’t suggesting what I think you are.”
Majesty smiles widely and says “allow me my typical revelatory introduction. I am… the last of the first.”
Tirek blinks a couple times a disgruntled look crossing his face. “The divine of life. Vitalia. So. My introductory adversary is you. Hmph. You of all people. I must confess…” a grin crosses his face “that makes this all the more interesting. I wonder what sort of tortures I could subject you to until your soul is broken beyond any hope of recovery. But I don’t have time to play with you right now. I have a valley to conquer. So, I’ll tell you what I’ll do. I couldn’t help but notice that throughout the battle you made every possible effort to ensure the young dragon was never behind you, nor did you ever allow him to be between you and me. You were overwhelmingly obvious regarding how little you wanted him to come to harm. Hehehe.” Tirek raises his hand, Spike levitating and flying into his grip as Majesty finds herself unable to move. “All that effort, and he will never be able to show you how grateful he is. Killing him would be far too easy. I think a more lasting torment would be better.” Spike’s forehead glows an angry red as his cries of pain fill the room.
As this happens, Majesty’s face twists in fury, her horn flaring to life as she calls out in an echoing voice “let memory be linked to forgotten memory, let none but those who know what happened in this room remember Spike the dragon, my son, until such time as he remembers himself!” Her spell erupts with a flash that consumes all in the room and beyond. Rey just barely hears Spike thanking Majesty for sparing her other children the pain of his lost memories through the roar of Majesty’s spell.
A moment later and it’s done. Spike, still alive but no longer who he was before this moment, falls from Tirek’s grasp. Blinking as he looks around, it’s clear that Majesty’s prediction of his fate was completely accurate. He doesn’t remember a thing. His eyes fall on Majesty as tears begin to stream down her cheeks. A flash of sympathy fills his eyes, but there is no recognition. Spike, dragon son of a pony queen, is lost.
Tirek chuckles, then calls out “Scorpan!” A moment later, another person enters the room. After being reminded to kneel to Tirek, he is instructed to take Spike into his instruction. As the two of them leave the room, Rey hears Spike ask who the pony was, and Scorpan responds “a great queen of ponies. Sadly, she is to suffer a terrible fate. Think no more of her, Spike. It is better for now to forget.” With that, they’re gone, and Tirek again raises his hand. This time, Majesty is the one who flies into his grasp, tears still streaming down her face. “Now, I believe I know the perfect prison for you. Any last words before I lock you away?”
Majesty glares at Tirek. “You have injured me in a terrible way. Allow me to return the favor. One of my gifts is the ability to see the future. And I have finally broken through the fog to foresee your fate, Tirek. Once. Twice. Thrice. Four times I see you attempting great evil in one way or another. Once. Twice. Thrice. Four times I see your ambitions falling apart. And on the fourth time… you will be erased from this space time for all eternity. Only memory will be left of you!”
Tirek frowns, and for a brief instant, Rey has the satisfaction of seeing a flash of fear in his eyes. “Hmph. So be it. Now Majesty, allow me to introduce you to my dearest friend.” He reaches up with his free hand to grasp a pouch hanging around his neck. “This is my Rainbow of Darkness. And you… are going to be very close to it from now on.” With that, Tirek releases the Rainbow of Darkness to swallow Majesty up. When it returns to its pouch, Majesty is nowhere to be seen. Tirek smirks. “I may not have been able to slay you, but at least I’ll always know where you are. And I’ll keep you close. Hehehe.”
Rey opens her eyes. The memories she witnessed as clear to her as her own. She hears Majesty’s voice once more “please hurry. I don’t know how long this chance might last.” Rey nods, then flies off, heading for Canterlot. “I don’t know where the Rainbow of Darkness is, Majesty, so to help me find it, I will call upon the wisdom of those much wiser than myself.”

Just a heads up that I’ve decided to start a G4 MLP ask blog with an original character of mine. The blog can be found with the tag askthepsychicofponyville if any of my current followers are interested. Just to clarify, this blog is going to consist mainly of text with maybe some occasional screenshots to introduce new characters to answer questions later. This is due to me having absolutely no drawing skills at all. The first post and the avatar are a commission I once had done of the primary character of the blog.

Megan’s eyes open wide at the sound of that voice as the mists and clouds around the group instantly clear, leaving them in a vast expanse of rolling plains absolutely vibrant with golden grass of a multitude of species, crystal clear streams and ponds visible all around, and an enormous palace in the center of it all.
As Megan begins looking around to find the source of the voice, Nyx and Luna are likewise observing their surroundings. Nyx speaks in an awed whisper, knowing that Luna would know the answer to her question “Luna? Are we where I think we are?”
Luna nods “yes, Nyx. This is the Grand Plain, and that is the Palace of Final Peace. This is where the herd runs eternally, existing day to day enjoying the simplest of joys and knowing no suffering ever again.” She is looking around as she says all this, but finally turns to look directly at Nyx. “This… is our paradise. That which all ponies of our universe strive to earn when their worldly lives have ended.”
Megan turns to look at Luna “the Herd’s lands? This is the pony reward for a life well lived? It looks amazing. But that voice that we heard before coming here. I know that voice.”
This is when the sound of the palace gates opening reaches them and they turn to see a small herd of ponies exiting the palace and running right towards them. Megan feels her eyes watering as she sees them. She knows them. She knows every one of them. They’re her ponies.
A short moment later, Megan is in the middle of a group hug with all of the ponies she once was ready to defend at a moment’s notice, her friends from her childhood. There isn’t a dry eye in the lot, even Wind Whistler giving into emotions for once.
After a moment of just enjoying holding her ponies again, Megan looks around at them all. “I’m almost afraid to believe I’m seeing you all again. I’ve missed you all so much.”
“We missed you too, Megan.” Yes, absolutely.” “You were one of the best things that ever happened to us Megan.” “Curse that Grogar for eternity for breaking the link between our worlds.” “Now now, none of that ponies, this is a happy moment.” “Yes. Let’s not ruin this with bad emotions.” “Besides, don’t we have something good to tell Megan?” “Oh yeah. Our deal.”
Megan blinks. “So it was Grogar after all. I had a feeling. But what’s this about a deal?”
“Megan, the Allmother arranged a meeting with your deity for us.” “Via that meeting, we’ve arranged something to thank you for all you did for us.” “All you have to do to earn benefit from what we’ve arranged is live a good life and earn a place in your paradise.” “If you do that, you’ll find there’s a special door in your reward.” “It leads here, to a room in the Palace of Final Peace.” “It’s a permanent link between your reward and ours.”
Megan blinks “so what you’re saying is, all I have to do is live a good life, no crime, no evil, and when my time comes, I’ll be able to come visit you anytime I want to?”
The ponies around Megan nod “that’s right.” “The door’s already set up, you just have to earn access to it.” “Please don’t miss this opportunity, Megan. It’s our way of thanking you for everything you did for us.” “We all knew you must have missed us as much as we missed you.” “We did this to show you how much we love you one more time.” “Be good Megan. And one more thing, don’t rush it.” “We know you still have a lot of life left in you but we’re willing to wait.” “Just so long as we can see you again one day.”
Megan nods. “I understand. I’ll do my best to make sure your deal doesn’t go to waste. No crime. No evil. As good a life as I can lead so that when I die, that door will see a lot of use from then on.”
The ponies cheer, then give Megan one more embrace before the paradise surrounding the four living beings begins to grow indistinct, Megan holding her ponies as long as she can until they’ve been returned to the mortal dreamscape. Luna approaches Megan at that point “I feared that this effort might leave you with a broken heart. Instead, it has given you the promise of a wonderful gift, so long as you live a good life from now on.”
Megan nods “I can understand your concern, your highness. But… it definitely proved unwarranted. Even if something happens to deny me that reward, I saw them again. One last visit with my old friends. That’s… all I ever wanted. And now, there’s a promise of the possibility of more. Honestly, I can’t thank you enough for tonight.”
Luna smiles, nodding understandingly. “I’m glad. But now, it’s nearly morning for us. It’s time we wakened. It was a true honor to meet you, Megan. Farewell.”
Megan nods “farewell to you as well. And thanks again.”
With that, first Megan, then the dream world fades from Rey’s perception. She wakes to see that it is indeed morning, then she looks in her hand.
Tumblr media
She smiles, then puts on the Rainbow of Light, resolving to keep it with her for a quick response to a sudden danger.

Chrysalis looks around, taking in the room around her. Beside her, Aaron is watching as she looks around, then turns to look at him “okay. You said you wanted to tell me as much as you could about what’s going to happen in this courtroom. So, let’s hear it.”
Aaron nods “very well. To start off, I want to tell you that I have identified the attacker who will try to assassinate you. And I have figured out when and from where the attack will come. During the proceedings, there will be three groups in this room not including that made up of you and True Heart. There will be the ones you must convince, those who will be acting as judges. They will be stationed on the balcony, having a clear view of everything that happens in this room. You’ve actually convinced some of them already. Twilight, Cadence, Shining Armor, Celestia and Luna. However, though they are all on your side, they make up the minority of the judges, which will be made up of regional leaders from every corner of Equestria. There will be a total of two dozen individuals that you must convince of your desire for peace. The second group is the audience, who will be seated in the stands behind you. They will likely be even more numerous than the judges. They will be here to witness and report on the final decision. There will be no opportunity to keep what happens in this room on a need to know basis. Within two or three days, every individual in Equestria will be aware of whatever end result comes in this room. Finally, the third group. Guards, assigned to keep an eye on you. They will be here to ensure you don’t cause any trouble, and if the final verdict is a final exile from Equestria, they will escort you to the border of the kingdom. There will be no fourth chance given in that case. It will be the end of any possibility of peace with Equestria. I’m expecting the trial to last three days. On the first day, True Heart will monopolize the day, explaining everything she can from her point of view. Her primary objective will be to cast doubt on the image most have of you being an irredeemable monster, trying to instead give them an idea of the real you, the one who cares for her hive even at the expense of herself most of the time. The second day will be your day. This is your opportunity to show them all not just the version of you that True Heart described, but also how the darker version was born. Do you understand what that will require?”
Chrysalis nods. “I do. But… even with my lost love beside me once more, I do not know if I have the strength. In order to make the greatest impact, I must tell my story in full, including the part I wasn’t strong enough to tell my own daughter.”
Aaron nods “you should also understand that just telling may not be enough. In fact, it would be much better if you could bring yourself to utilize mental projection.”
Chrysalis blinks “mental projection? You mean…”
Aaron smiles comfortingly “I know it would increase the difficulty tenfold, but you do know the necessary spell, and it would make a profound impact to show them what you saw, rather than just telling them. Also, there’s one other benefit. As I said, I have identified when and from where you will be attacked. It will occur within minutes of when you reach that point in your story, and it will come from behind, a little to your left if you stand in the exact center of your assigned position. Granted, considering there will be a guard and several members of the audience in that line of sight, well”
Chrysalis nods “several possibilities as to the exact individual who will attack me.”
Aaron nods. “If, however, you can bring yourself to utilize mental projection, your enemy won’t be able to stop themselves from commenting pleasedly on the image. I believe the words said will be “a work of art” or something similar to that. But no matter what is said, it will tell you exactly where they are. You will know your enemy in that instance better than you would in any other. So, think of that when you are making your final decision on how to proceed with that particular piece of information.”
Chrysalis nods “I certainly will.”
Aaron nods. “I won’t tell you the exact sequence of events the attack itself will follow, as aside from your survival or death, there are actually several ways that brief event can resolve. And many of them hinge on options you could choose.” At this point, Aaron blinks, and turns to look towards Canterlot. “What? Heh. I honestly didn’t think she’d find anything.”
Chrysalis blinks “what’s happened? Has a parameter of the trial changed?”
Aaron nods, turning to look back at Chrysalis “yes. Several possibilities of moments that could happen during the trial have just been erased. It’s quite interesting, having my temporal perception. I can sense when possibilities become impossible, when new possibilities are born, and I can guide those with power over the future towards the best ultimate outcome. Anyways, since she heard your story from True Heart, Celestia has been searching through the Canterlot archives. Trying to find surviving records from when those who inhabited this land called it the Wandering Plains.”
Chrysalis blinks “back when I made my first attempt at interacting with ponies.”
Aaron nods. “Personally, I wasn’t confident she’d find anything. There were only twenty three out of two hundred sixty seven thousand histories in which any records of that era survived to this point in time, and out of those twenty three, only two where she’d find exactly what she was looking for. The odds were overwhelmingly stacked against her, but she just beat the odds. One of the two histories has become the true history, and Celestia now has something to present on the third day of the trial, when the public will be given the chance to express their opinions on how it should end. At the end of that day, the verdict will be determined, announced, and made fact. Now, do you understand the sequence of events as I have presented them?”
Chrysalis nods “I do, and I’m grateful that you took the time to tell me all of this. Hopefully, this will end well for everyone.”
Aaron nods.

True Heart sighs. Another big meeting today and she’s not sure if she’s less or more worried about this one than she was about meeting Shining Armor and Cadence. As she’s trying to decide, a tail flips down into her view. She blinks, then smiles and looks up to see Rey floating above her. “Hi cuz.”
Rey smirks, dropping down to lean against the wall. “Hey there. Sensed your mental turmoil. Anything I can help with?”
True Heart sighs. “That depends. Can you stop me from feeling anything at all for the rest of the day?”
Rey hmms. “Honestly, that sort of thing is within my power yeah. But I’m not going to. It’s not a healthy way to cope with your situation. Look, these are good ponies. They might be suspicious of you at first, but, um, let’s face it. Who wouldn’t be.”
True Heart nods. “Your prediction?”
Rey closes her eyes and tilts her head back. “They’ll nervously look at each other, then make some excuses about things they forgot, telling mom, not you, that they might be a while looking for whatever they forgot. Later, they’ll come back with Princess Celestia and possibly Luna as well. Whoever they bring back will cast truth spell on you, compulsive version so you’ll have to truthfully answer any question.”
True Heart nods. “Yeah, that sounds likely. They’ll probably be concerned that everypony in the palace is under mind control, leaving them with no choice but to trust nopony here. And a changeling powerful enough to place an entire palace sized population under mind control… they’d need alicorns to challenge somecreature with that kind of power.”
Rey nods. “Pretty much. Especially considering mom would be considered compromised. They can’t use Harmony Power or the Elements of Harmony without her.”
True Heart sighs and shakes her head sadly. “Basically I’m about to make a group of very good ponies feel very vulnerable and there’s no way I can avoid it. I wonder if there’s another universe somewhere where ponies and changelings have never had the kind of history we’ve had here.”
Rey shrugs. “If there is, it’s not here. We just have to work with the history we have and hope it all turns out good in the end.”
True Heart nods. “At least we aren’t completely powerless. We can work to make the end result the best possible outcome.”
Rey nods.
A few moments later, True Heart is looking across the entryway of the palace of friendship at five ponies who, though she’s never met them, she knows a lot about. Twilight is standing beside her, telling them how she came to be there and what she’s here to do. And True Heart can plainly see the distrust in the eyes of the ponies in front of her. Another moment later and she’s watching the door close behind them, then looking at Twilight. “Fifty bits says they’ll come back with alicorn reinforcements to make sure I’m not mind controlling you somehow.”
Twilight sighs, then smirks and looks at True Heart and says “I don’t take fools wagers.”
Another few hours pass and as the sun is setting, the prediction proves accurate. This time, six ponies enter the palace to find Twilight and True Heart waiting. True Heart looks and stands up, approaching and bowing to the pony leading the group. “Princess Celestia. It’s an honor to meet you. I just wish it wasn’t under such suspicious circumstances.” She then rises and looks up at the Princess. “You’re here to cast an alicorn level compulsive truth spell on me to find if I have somehow managed to take control of this palace’s residents. Go on then.”
Celestia nods, then does as asked, casting a fully empowered truth spell on True Heart. “Now, tell me who you are, and what your intentions here in Equestria are.”
True Heart nods, then goes into a full explanation of her identity and mission. As she talks, the ponies in front of her slowly lose their challenging expressions, replacing them with looks of uncertainty, and eventually remorse. Finally, after completing her explanation, True Heart looks at Celestia, waiting for her judgment.
Celestia sighs. “And you haven’t taken control of anyone’s mind since you’ve been here, have you?” When True Heart smiles and shakes her head, Celestia immediately cancels her spell. “First of all, I want to apologize for the suspicion. This is an odd situation, and considering certain factors, this was a bit of a knee jerk reaction.”
True Heart nods “perfectly understandable, your highness. Changelings haven’t made the best impression here. I’m hoping among other things to change that.”
Celestia nods. “If there is anything I can do to help, let me know.”
True Heart bows again. “Thank you, your highness. I would like to make a request. I wish to speak with your sister as well. If for no other reason, then to make sure she understands as you now do that I have no ill intentions regarding Equestria.”
Celestia nods. “I shall relay your request to her. She will likely choose to contact you via the dream world.”
True Heart nods. “Understood, your highness.”
Later, as True Heart sleeps, her dreams change to a vast open space, glittering fog covering the ground up to hock height. As she looks around, she slowly feels a presence coming around her, which then separates from her to fly a short distance away and manifest as Princess Luna. True Heart smiles at the sight of her, then bows once she turns to look back at her. “Good evening your highness.”
Luna hmms. “Good evening to you. I apologize for my late arrival. Celestia took her time informing me of what she had learned about you, and of course, I, as I imagine many others would, insisted on testing the magic within her for any sign of mental reconditioning. I was pleased and surprised to find there was no sign of such. But at the same time, I was dismayed by what that meant the truth to be. I am sorry for my part in making things so difficult for your hive. But I must inform you, reversing the reforms may prove to be more difficult than you think. The only thing I can think of that may make it simpler would be if Chrysalis had some reason for choosing the course of action she chose. And if it was a relatively good reason.”
True Heart nods. “As I’ve told your sister and others, I know her reason. I just need a little more time to brace myself for the act of sharing it. But I promise I will.”
Luna nods. “The secret held in the mind of a queen. Shared only once. And as I understand it, she was… inebriated at the time?”
True Heart nods. “She has a stash of uniquely aged love in her chambers. Feeding on it is dangerously harmful to the average changeling, can even be fatal like poison. But for a fully grown queen, aged emotions are simply… alcoholic. Not quite deadly on their own, just… causing a drunken state.”
Luna nods. Then begins to fade. “I have judged you, True Heart. I find your intentions… pure. Please, do not prove me wrong.”
True Heart nods “I shall strive not to, your highness.”
With that, Luna vanishes and True Heart finds herself waking in her chambers. “That went well. The Elements of Harmony, four princesses, a prince and some members of each family willing to support me. It’s a good start, now I just need to reach the finish.”

True Heart blinks, what she was just told spinning around in her mind. “You… did what?”
Twilight sighs. She had a feeling this would go like this, but she knows what she’s set up won’t go as poorly as her niece is afraid it will. “I sent a message to Shining and Cadence telling them about you and inviting them to come meet you.”
True Heart blinks again. “You did…what?”
Twilight chuckles. This is the fifth time True Heart has repeated the same question. “Apparently I unwittingly consigned myself to answering the same question over and over again all day by facilitating a meeting between you and your father and stepmother. Now, before you ask again, I want you to know something you might be unaware of. A situation cropped up when I proposed my defense reforms that, based on new evidence presented by you, tells me one thing regarding Shining and Cadence. They knew.”
True Heart blinks, the strangeness of this statement finally snapping her out of her mental loop. “They… knew? They knew what?”
Twilight sighs. “They knew the real importance of love to your hive. You see, I made my proposal regarding my defense reforms to a gathering of Equestrian leaders. They were there. Based on the invasion, I expected my proposal to be unanimously accepted. But it wasn’t. Shining and Cadence waited until everyone else cast their vote, then, when everyone else said yes, rather than saying anything at all, they looked at each other, stood up, and walked out. With how the vote went, this was the only thing they could do to protest what was about to happen. I was shocked, I couldn’t understand why they were against my reforms. After that, we formed an unspoken agreement that we would never discuss the situation again.”
True Heart is once again reeling, but this time, she’s dealing with a realization she never expected to have. Shining Armor. Princess Cadence. They knew the truth behind the invasion. Or, well, at least the truth regarding why her hive needs love. “The Crystal Empire. They don’t employ your reforms, your inventions there, do they?”
Twilight shakes her head. “No. And per unspoken agreement, I never mention it to Shining or Cadence.”
True Heart sighs. “Suddenly… this doesn’t seem like such a bad situation. I’m still scared of meeting them, but now I feel like it won’t end up a complete disaster.”
Twilight smiles gently. “Of course it won’t. Besides, wouldn’t it be great to know your father?”
True Heart smiles “I would like to know my father. As long as he doesn’t hate me for my mother’s actions.”
Twilight sighs, then smiles as a letter bearing both Shinings and Cadences crests appears. “Shall I?”
True Heart realizes that the letter is likely their response to Twilight’s invitation. She sighs, steadies herself, and nods.
Twilight smiles, then opens the scroll and reads.
Dearest Twilight
We want to thank you for letting us know about your visitor. We are hopeful that you have already learned some valuable lessons from her. As to your invitation, we will make arrangements immediately, and will come with all speed. We are eager to meet our newly discovered daughter. Expect us soon.
With love and affection, Shining and Cadence
P.S.
Hopefully a certain event has at last been clarified to you. We hope to finally have a discussion regarding that day over the course of our visit.
Twilight smiles, looking at True Heart “seems a good response, doesn’t… what’s wrong?”
True Heart doesn’t even have to ask why Twilight asked. She knows there are tears trailing down her cheeks. “Nothing’s wrong, it’s just… they both called me their… daughter.”
Twilight smiled “they did, didn’t they. And they said they’re eager to meet you. Still scared?”
True Heart laughs “absolutely! But it does look promising. I just hope I don’t screw it all up.”
Twilight smiles. “They usually send a second letter when they’re boarding the train. It’s about a full day’s journey from the Empire to here.”
True Heart nods. “So I’ll have 24 hours of notice before I meet them.”
Twilight nods. “If I can give you one piece of advice. Look like yourself.”
True Heart chuckles, nodding. “I’ve believed from the start that honesty was essential in this.”
Twilight nods.

One single word. For Twilight Sparkle, depending on the word, that can be all it takes, even after hundreds of years of learning to manage her emotions and herself better. True Heart can only stare as Twilight starts freaking out, gibbering and moving about at random as she tries to figure out what she needs to do. All for one reason. A changeling hive is starving to death, and thanks to her own actions following the invasion, Twilight is responsible. Finally, as Twilight starts reaching a feverish level of freaking out, True Heart activates her horn and instantly, everything in the room freezes. Twilight’s eyes turn towards her. True heart sighs and says “please, calm down. I get that you feel terrible about this, but freaking out won’t help anyone. Can you try to relax enough to work out some ideas with me?”
Twilight blinks, then collapses as True Heart cancels her spell. “I’m sorry. I’ve spent so long working on taming that part of myself, but this is a worse situation than I could’ve imagined.”
True Heart smiles and comes over, helping Twilight sit up. “I’m sure. But I don’t think it’s past fixing. I left the hive to come here a week ago. When I left, there was still food enough for three to four months. If rationed properly. And if my mom continued her habit of eating the bare minimum to keep herself alive.”
Twilight blinks “Chrysalis. She’s starving herself to extend the life of the hive?” When True Heart nods, Twilight sighs. “I… had a worse opinion of her than that.”
True Heart nods again. “You didn’t exactly have a good experience during your first meeting with her. But I can assure you that when she’s not trying to invade a kingdom, my mother’s primary concern is always the wellbeing of her changelings. She really is a good ruler of our hive. I’m willing to bet that if changelings didn’t have to feed the way they do, she and Celestia could have had a stellar diplomatic relationship.”
Twilight blinks, then looks at True Heart. “That’s… one of the ways you’re different. Isn’t it? You don’t have to feed on love. You can eat like a pony, right?”
True Heart nods. “It’s one of the big reasons mom thinks I have a chance of integrating with ponies for survival. Other changelings can eat like ponies, but they don’t get sufficient nutrients to survive from pony food. It’s like comparing a small snack to a meal. For your average changeling, love is a meal. Anything else is just a small snack. At least when it comes to love affinity changelings.”
Twilight blinks. “Love affinity?”
True Heart nods. “Yeah. Like my hive. We’re love affinity changelings. But love isn’t the only emotion a changeling can have an affinity for. There are changelings with an affinity for rage, lust, sadness, depression, all sorts of things.”
Twilight hmms. “Can changelings with different affinities be born in one hive?”
True Heart nods. “Yes, but it’s exceedingly rare. The chances regarding a single birth are typically calculated at one in more than nine thousand. It’s overwhelmingly more likely that a changeling will have the same affinity as the hive it is born in is known for. That being said, it’s typically a cause of celebration when the opposite occurs. You see, changelings born with different affinities are actually born to be more than an average drone. They are the founders of new hives.”
Twilight blinks, then smiles. “That makes sense. It would be more difficult for an existing hive to adjust to collect a new food source than it would be for the odd one out to go off and start a new hive somewhere else.”
True Heart nods. “There’s inherent risk to starting a new hive of course, but when it pays off it’s worth it. On the flip side, when it doesn’t pay off, you can end up with somechangeling like Ghost.”
Twilight tilts her head. “Ghost?”
True Heart nods. “Ghost is… no… would have been the queen of a contentment hive. Such hives typically take the form of facilities geared towards creating their food. They don’t usually grow past a few dozen drones. They don’t usually need to. Ghost set up her hive in a community of ponies somewhere west of here. At first everything was going well… but one day one of their clients forgot something and had to come back to retrieve the item. That was when said client saw the changeling that had taken care of them revert to their true form to feed on the contentment the treatment had created. What was seen wasn’t forgotten, and in a fortnight the facility was brought down. Almost all the changelings of that hive were killed. The only one to survive was Ghost. When a new queen is born, they have something inside them to facilitate the birth of a new hive. But whatever that something is, it’s completely expended after one attempt. Ghost… can’t try again somewhere else. And… well, there’s a saying among changelings. A queen with no hive is as one without purpose. Most such queens can usually be found dead less than a month after their hive has been destroyed. Ghost… could be considered by some to have suffered a worse fate. She still lives, but her mind is fractured. She travels at extreme, almost invisible speeds, feeding constantly and with such brief contact that no one notices her. She seeks other hives in danger of being destroyed and tries to save them. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But one thing I want to point out to you is that she never takes an aggressive approach. If she can’t help the hive at risk to move away fast enough, she’ll usually try to talk to those who are trying to attack. If that also fails, she…forces herself to give up the hive as lost and moves on. Resuming her invisible path to feed and search for other hives she might be able to help.”
Twilight blinks “your hive teeters on the brink of destruction by starvation. Could Ghost show up here?”
True Heart nods. “It’s possible. This is a situation she might feel she can help with. Hmm. I just realized. I think we’ve gone a bit off track. Can’t remember which one of us started the distraction.”
Twilight nods, then looks out a nearby window. “The sun is setting. And we’ve shared a lot of information. Why don’t we take a break. The rest of today and tomorrow. Give you a chance to get used to your new surroundings. We’ll talk more the next day and try to come up with ways to resolve this situation.”
True Heart nods. “That sounds good. We do still have some time.”
Twilight smiles. “Right. Come on, let’s get you set up with a personal bedchamber.”
True Heart nods.

Greetings all. This is Aaron. It has come to my attention that a couple days ago, the spirits here may have transmitted a certain conversation between two alicorns to you all without them knowing. I have decided that it might be best to inform you about some of the context of that discussion. First, I want to assure you all that there is no concern of nefarious purpose regarding that conversation. Actually, they are working on something I suggested to Luna. There is a powerful magic artifact that long ago was lost across time and space. An artifact that rightfully belongs here. I came up with the idea to utilize the overwhelming power that those two are capable of in the dream world to create a powerful door through which that lost artifact might be retrieved. I did weigh the risks and observed potential results of this effort and found that there is actually very little chance of a negative result, and even less chance that either of them may actually perish from the effort. Roughly two thousand out of more than eight times that many in which their efforts fail, and only five possibilities that end in death. All this is the reason behind them gathering their inner magical resources at this time. Nothing evil, simply an effort to reclaim a lost treasure of this universe. an effort that largely favors success. That’s all I wanted to say for now. As for those spirits, I’m planning to have a word with them regarding lack of context. Until next time.

A figure stands outside Ponyville, having just crested a hill nearby. The figure is a white coated unicorn mare with a dark and light blue mane and tail. Her flank, strangely for her age, lacks a cutie mark. She seems to be just taking in the sight of Ponyville, a determined expression on her face, though with a hint of worry. “Ponyville. I’ve finally made it. My first goal is on the verge of becoming reality… if all goes well.” She says. Then looks over herself. “I got to this point this way, but…”
A short distance away from the hill, two of Twilight Sparkles royal guards stand watch at one of the main entrances to Ponyville. They’ve both taken note of the mare who crested the hill some minutes ago. But now, as they watch, the mare on the hill seems to be spontaneously consumed by flames. Green flames.

Hi all. Rey here. Um… I want to apologize for our long absence. A lot of stuff has been happening lately. And if my new technique is accurate, something big is still in the works. I learned a technique called future sight in a recent training session. So, as to what has already happened: Hades has managed to make an actual decent pony out of himself. Mother had an official graduation ceremony for him and he was so simply happy during it that it was like he was just another ordinary pony. Following the ceremony, he left to continue his search for Vitalia, but promised to pay more attention to his realm in the future. As for the reason all of that happened in the first place, the tower is definitely here to stay. Hades said that only the Allmother had the power to change that, but so far it looks like she doesn’t want to. Folks continue to enjoy spending time with their long dead relatives and friends. The number of present spirits at any given time has fallen, as expected due to the newness of the situation wearing off, but I still see them all the time. Ambrosia has continued her work diligently mostly unchanged from before, though that trial did give her a new level of understanding as to why she’s needed. Aaron is vigilant as ever, keeping an eye on events in our world and helping us know when we need to act and even how best to respond sometimes. And to finish off this update, something strange. Nyx is normally happy to train me, but recently she has been distracted. Yesterday she even asked a group of moms royal guard to stand in for her. Whatever’s going on with her, I hope it gets resolved soon. That’s all I have for you right now, but everyone’s looking forward to getting back into it. Later all.

Part 1
Greetings everyone. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Princess Twilight Sparkle. We just finished dealing with a situation here, and I asked to utilize the story for my introduction into this deal. I hope no one minds. So anyways, what happened was this. And I’m sorry this was so long in coming. I have a new temporary duty to keep me busy. Anyway, here’s the story.
After flying through the Everfree, Rey finally found the two ponies and landed in an uninhabited tree to keep an eye on them. They seemed to be just finishing getting situated, with the stallion standing in the middle of the clearing they were in while Ambrosia paced in front of him.
“You brought us here so I wouldn’t run off, right?” Ambrosia asked.
The stallion nodded. His mane and tail, jet black and his coat a dark red. His eyes, vivid red and he had an eye of knowledge for his cutie mark. “That is right. Running off would be even more dangerous than staying here with me in this place. At least if I decide to do something, you are guaranteed to feel no pain.”
Ambrosia nodded in acknowledgment, then looked at the stallion. “Before we start this surprise performance review, can I ask something?” The stallion nodded and Ambrosia continued. “I know it’s only trivia in this situation, but I once read in a mythological book that of all divines, only one is older than you. Is that true?”
The stallion smirked and said “yes. The only divine in the universe who is older than me is she who, in my opinion, egotistically refers to herself as the last of the first. It is actually poetic in a way. After all, life, no matter how short, always comes before death. So too did the divine of life come before me.”
Rey blinked, now knowing who the stallion was. Hades. The divine of death.
Ambrosia nodded. Hades chuckled, then said “but as you said, mere trivia in the current situation. Speaking of.” Hades took a moment to look towards Ponyville. The newly built tower was visible through the forest canopy. “Hmm. As I recall, when we first met, I informed you of the purpose of your gift. Remind me, what is the purpose I informed you of?”
Ambrosia swallowed nervously before saying “to help you to maintain the integrity of the realm of death, to…”
Hades began to glower. “To prevent the dead from coming to mingle with the living. Yet… if I understand correctly, you were involved in constructing a structure for the sole purpose of breaking that boundary. I am not amused by this heavy breach of your duties. Who gave you the authority to supersede me and my realm? I do not recall giving you such authority.”
“What else were we supposed to do?”
Rey landed between Hades and Ambrosia.
Ambrosia stared in horror at Rey appearing between them, while Hades turned his now clear glare on Rey. “Who are… wait. I know you. Heh. The foreigner. So you reveal yourself to me in defense of my own subordinate.”
Rey glared “I don’t care if she’s your subordinate. And I don’t give a damn who you are either. You have no right to be mad at anyone when all we did was deal with a situation you were absent from the best we could. The tower was built, yes, and it opened a passage between the living and the dead, yes. But it’s better than the alternative. Where have you been!? As the divine of death, you should have been first on the scene when the wall between worlds was on the verge of collapse!”
Hades seemed to balk a moment, then regained his composure and scoffed “one thing you have said, I would like to build on. I am the divine of death. I have the power and authority to determine when death comes. Tell me. What is stopping me from sending you to an early grave, foreigner?”
Rey blinked, but her defiant expression stayed strong. “Threatening me doesn’t change the apparent fact that you have been shirking your duties. Again, where have you been? This isn’t even the first time this has happened. The only difference between this time and the previous three such instances is that it was an undeniable fact that without intervention, the wall was going to crumble. We did the only thing we could to prevent it by creating a controlled breach to alleviate the pressure. If you had been there, maybe that wouldn’t have been necessary. So I ask for the third time: WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!”
Hades sighed, then said “you have a lot of nerve to speak to me like this. I commend you for that. But this insult can not be ignored. You question the way I conduct myself after assisting in an invasion of my realm. What gives you the right to demand answers of me in such a way? You are no divine.”
Rey smirked “ maybe not. But as Princess Twilight Sparkle’s adopted daughter, I have the duty to defend the people of this kingdom. I choose to take it farther. If the wall crumbled all over, there would’ve been no control over what spirits passed back into this world.” After saying this, Rey tilted her head to the side as her smirk widened. “anything wrong there Hades?”
Hades had lost his confident posture, staring at Rey “who did you say your adoptive parent was?”
Rey grinned. “Princess Twilight Sparkle. Why? Does that matter to you?”
Hades turned his back on Rey and Ambrosia and said “I retract my threat on you. But I still ask that you take your leave. This matter is between Ambrosia and I.”
Rey laughed “you retract your threat? Why? Is it because my mother is a fellow divine? Yeah, that’s right. I know one of the things she most often tries to keep secret from most others. She told me herself. She learned the benefits of harmonious relationships so well that the shard of divinity representing that realm searched her out and offered itself to her. The first time that particular divinity had ever done so. She wasn’t the most imaginative in choosing her divine name, going with Harmonia, but she adheres to the rules and role of her divinity almost to a fault, which is more than I can say about you given recent events. I’m still waiting for an answer. Where have you been?”
Hades sighed “I am only going to say this once. My whereabouts in recent times are no concern of yours, mortal. You have no right to pressure me into revealing such to you. As for your mother’s disclosure of her true self to you, I would not have revealed myself so freely if I was in her position. However, her conduct as a divine is up to her discretion so long as it does no harm to her realm.” Hades turned to look at Rey again “your mother being my peer affords you some permissions that others would not be offered. But I suggest that you do not test the limits of those allowances overly much. Pushing the boundaries of divine tolerance is far more dangerous than testing your own limits, warrior princess.”
Rey nodded “understood, Hades. That being said, I’m still not going to move out from between you and Ambrosia. She’s my friend, and as such, I’m strongly inclined to protect her from any threat, including you.”
Hades smirked “can you?”

A few moments later, Rey arrives in Canterlot and goes directly to the palace. She lands before the grand doors and addresses the royal guards “sirs, I’m sorry for coming so early in the morning, but I have this past night been gifted with knowledge of the location of a persona of great importance. However, though I know where they are, I don’t know where that location is in this world. I believe the quickest way to find them would be to seek the aid of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.”
The guards nod, one of them saying “understood your highness. They should be partaking of their morning meal at this time. Do you need any guidance to find the dining hall?”
Rey shakes her head “no, thank you. I’ve dined with them before.”
The guards nod, then resume their duties as Rey enters the palace to find the royal sisters. A moment later Rey enters the dining hall, Celestia and Luna blinking at her entrance. Celestia swallows the bite she just took and dabs a napkin at her lips before saying “Rey? What brings you to us this early?”
Rey’s response is simple, but impactful enough that Celestia and Luna are instantly brought to full attention “I know where Vitalia is.”
“WHAT!?”
Rey nods, then proceeds to tell the two of the shared memory dream she experienced the previous night, ending with “after Spike was made to forget who he was and left the throne room with Scorpan, Majesty foretold Tireks four defeats before he imprisoned her in his Rainbow of Darkness. That’s everything I witnessed.” Rey, having tilted her head back and closed her eyes at some point, opens her eyes and looks directly at Celestia and Luna again only to find both of them staring at her. No. Not at her. At her chest? Then she remembers what’s currently resting on her chest. “Um… why are you two staring at the Rainbow of Light?”
Celestia blinks, then looks at Luna before looking back at Rey. “The reason our attention was drawn to the Rainbow of Light, Rey, is because, well, at this point in time, Majesty’s Rainbow of Light and Tirek’s Rainbow of Darkness are actually… one and the same.”
Rey blinks “what? But didn’t Majesty create the Rainbow of Light to challenge Tirek’s Rainbow of Darkness?”
Luna nods “yes, but as you witnessed via shared memory, she couldn’t complete it. When Megan eventually was first brought here, she collected the Rainbow, still incomplete, on her way to challenge Tirek. A struggle ensued, the objective being to claim the Rainbow of Darkness, but it ultimately ended up back in Tirek’s control. It was at that point that Megan recalled her possession of the Rainbow of Light and tried to unleash it to challenge him, but it was as Majesty predicted in the memory you saw. A docile timid thing with no will to fight. Tirek scorned the Rainbow of Light and unleashed the Rainbow of Darkness to try to destroy it, and it was at that point, when hope seemed lost, that the Rainbow of Light completed itself by devouring the Rainbow of Darkness from within. Majesty’s masterpiece was finally complete, and its first act was to banish Tirek for millennia. So you see, Rey, it is as Celestia has said. The two opposing Rainbows became one indomitable force.”
Rey is stunned by this revelation, reaching up to grasp the Rainbow of Light with a new reverence. “Majesty. Vitalia. She’s been with me ever since Megan passed this on to me?”
Celestia nods “based on what you have told us, there is a very good chance of that. But we can find out for certain. The Rainbow has a form of consciousness itself. Release it and let us see what it might say.”
Rey nods, opening the locket. Immediately after the locket is opened, the Rainbow of Light emerges from it, twisting through the air as it searches for a threat. Finding none, it seems to settle down, flying above the three princesses.
Celestia looks upon the Rainbow, reverence in her gaze. “As magnificent as I’d ever imagined, if not more so. But let’s get down to business, shall we. Mighty Rainbow of Light, we have just learned there is a possibility that your creator is trapped within you. Can you confirm?” At this, the Rainbow contorts itself to take the shape of a checkmark. Celestia nods, then looks at Luna. “Luna, you are better at reading spells than I.”
Luna nods “I shall attempt to divine the specifics of the spell trapping her within.” She looks to the Rainbow as her horn begins to glow, the Rainbow doing the same. After a moment, both glows cease as Luna’s expression turns to frustration and anger “it is locked in place via password. We must discover the key phrase if we are to have any hope of releasing her. On top of that our opportunity to do so is rapidly dwindling. We have now spent half the day in this room, and the spell will become eternally set at sundown. We have only a few short hours left before we lose her forever.”
Rey can scarcely believe what she’s hearing. It simply can’t be that bad. “Hours?! We only have hours?! To discern a particular word or set of words that is the key to releasing the Divine of Life from a potential eternal prison?! No! I can’t accept that! Luna, please say you’re exaggerating!”
Luna sighs “I desperately wish I was. Tirek has played all of us who have been searching for her all this time for fools. I… I can see no hope of success in this moment. We have truly lost the Divine of Life.”
Rey glares, tail lashing as she crosses her arms, trying to think of some way to solve this puzzle. “I understand why you’re losing hope, but I’m not ready to give up. I’m almost as smart as mom, I just have to think. … Think? Thought. Psychic. Hmmm. Celestia, Luna, tell me, how many times has Tirek been defeated thus far?”
Celestia blinks “his most recent defeat was the third. His first was against Megan, Luna and I took part in the second, and your mother and her dearest friends were instrumental in the most recent, the third.”
Rey smiles. “So the fourth hasn’t happened yet? Good. That means he still exists here. I have an idea. The person in this world who is most likely to know the hidden password would be the one who set it in place to begin with. I’ll tear it from his mind if I have to. Where is he? It’ll help if I have a direction to search in.”
Luna smiles “last we knew, he was locked away in the deepest depths of Tartarus. Can your psychic powers reach there?”
Rey grins “Luna, I won’t even have to leave this room.” With that, her eyes, then her body begin to glow as she reaches out with her mind.
Deep in the depths of Tartarus, Tirek is lying in his cell when he blinks, then grins “do you think it will be that easy? My mind won’t be that easy to read.”
In the palace dining hall Rey increases her focus, the glow around her intensifying “then I’ll just have to try harder!”
Tirek holds up his hand, watching as it begins to glow while he feels the assault on his mind intensifying. “Not bad. You’re definitely a powerful psychic, whoever you are, but still not good enough.”
Rey increases her focus again, psychic power beginning to create the appearance of waves of energy on her body “give me the password to Majesty’s prison now!”
Tirek feels the psychic assault on his mind go up a notch again and laughs “if this is the best you can do, you should submit to the inevitable. The prison will stay locked, and you will lose your one chance to free her.”
Rey pushes her power to its limit, causing a point on her chest to begin to glow even more brightly than the rest of her. “The password, NOW!”
Tirek chuckles and simply says “no.”
Rey’s anger at Tirek erupts as what looks like a white flame engulfs her body, spreading out from the glowing point on her chest. Celestia and Luna can only gape in awe at what is to be seen when the flame passes.
Tumblr media
(Word from the mod, the picture above used Rey’s normal appearance and thus the mewtwo base from https://mewtwoandme.tumblr.com/ is also used. In order to get the image presented above, I ran Rey through an AI art generator a few times and chose the result I liked best.)
In Tartarus, Tirek’s smile falls when he feels a sudden expansion in the power behind the assault on his mind. “What? Where did this come from?!”
Rey, feeling her power increase dramatically, pushes harder “give me the password NOW, Tirek! I’ll tear your mind apart to find it if I have to!”
Tirek groans from the latest increase in the strength of the attack. Worse, he feels fear as he realizes that might have been a small increase due to the new power he can feel from the attacker. Rather than risk the threat made being acted on, he chooses the smart move. The password to Majesty’s prison freely relinquished to the attacker.
In the throne room, Rey blinks, then nods, looking at the Rainbow of Light as the glow around her faded, but doesn’t vanish completely. “MAJESTY BE FREE FOREVERMORE, FOR VITALIA I OPEN THE DOOR!”
The Rainbow of Light flashes before beginning to spin in a circle, streams of light flowing into the center of the circle until it forms a portal. A gasp is heard followed by rapid hoofbeats, and the lost queen of Dream Valley, the long lost Divine of Life, Majesty leaps out of the portal to stand among the three princesses.
Majesty blinks, looking around, then looking at the floor, tapping her hoof on it. “Is… is this real? Please, someone tell me I’m not having another dream! If I must awaken to find it was all a lie one more time, I…”
Celestia strides forward “you are awake, Vitalia. It’s not a dream this time. Welcome back.”
Majesty blinks, then groans, raising her hoof to her head, holding it just under her horn as if she has a sudden headache.
Rey blinks, approaching as her form reverts to her usual appearance “Majesty, are you alright?”
Majesty sighs “my temporal vision is returning in force. I have spent years without it, and now all that I have missed is rushing through me. But… strange. I thought I’d been imprisoned for a shorter time than I am being presented with. What could cause such an increasingly vast irregularity?”
Luna steps forward now “the Rainbow of Light, which swallowed your prison to complete itself, was removed from this space time and lost to a comparably temporally delayed universe. We experienced a great many times the amount of years you experienced. By your reckoning you were imprisoned no more than 50 years. 42 of which you were imprisoned within your own creation. But for us, more than six millennia passed.”
Majesty nods. “I see. That explains it then. Huh?” Tears suddenly start streaming down Majesty’s cheeks. Celestia looks away, as she can guess what event the lost queen has just learned of. Majesty begins trembling in sorrow as she says “Dream Valley… gone?”
“Vitalia!”
Everyone turns to see Hades approaching. Majesty turns and rushes into his embrace, tears still flowing “Hades, please tell me my vision is wrong. My temporal sight is catching up with the present, and I just saw…”
Hades sighs, holding Majesty close “the fall of Dream Valley. I fear your vision is accurate as ever, Vitalia. The pony tribes of Dream Valley began to feud with each other, eventually drawing the attention of wendigos. Though many did escape in the end, Dream Valley was lost, buried in a wendigos curse. I am sorry, Vitalia, but… it is gone.”
Majesty sobs “my descendants. My land. She sent me to try to build a paradise, but now it’s all gone!”
Celestia takes a deep breath, then gains a determined expression and approaches the two Divines “not all, Vitalia. I bid you, please walk to the balcony with me.”
Majesty blinks, looking at Celestia and nodding. The two of them go to the balcony, and Majesty looks out at the city before them. She sees countless ponies and other creatures walking through the streets, and looks at Celestia with a confused expression “I beg your pardon, but what exactly am I meant to see?” Just as she finishes asking that question, her eyes suddenly widen and she turns back to look out over the city, looking around wildly before her eyes settle on a tan unicorn with a pink mane and a cauldron cutie mark. Then she starts looking around again, finding an earth pony foal kicking a soccer ball down the street. A pegasus pushing a cloud to the perfect spot for a midday snooze. Another pony carrying a bag of groceries. And another. Another. More and more. Finally she looks back at Celestia again. “Those ponies. The magic within them. I know it’s source. I… am its source.”
Celestia nods. “The land may be gone, but your descendants are not. More than three quarters of the population of Equestria can trace their lineage back to those you created with the Life magic flowing through you. Majesty, this… is your kingdom.” The crown levitates off Celestia’s head and floats before Majesty.
Majesty blinks, almost reaching out to accept, before her vision begins to show Celestia’s history. The more she sees, the more serene and calm her growing smile gets. Finally, she changes her hoof’s position and pushes the crown back towards Celestia. “No, Celestia, it is yours. Your history is now known to me. The greatness, the wisdom, the… sacrifice. I know you now, and I know without a shadow of a doubt which of us is the better leader. It’s not me. I shall retire the throne and redevote myself to my role as the Divine of Life. I shall begin by helping Hades with the issues regarding reincarnation. In the meantime, you continue to lead the citizens of Equestria to greater prosperity. That is the role you are meant for.”
Celestia smiles and nods, returning the crown to her head. Then she looks at Majesty again after adjusting it to her satisfaction and says “what of your descendants? What shall you do regarding them?”
Majesty sighs, looking back towards the balcony. “You have lead my descendants to unimaginable prosperity, Celestia. I shall be content to see them enjoying it. I do have questions regarding particular individuals though. Given the wisdom you display, I feel confident you can answer. The Moochik?”
Celestia smiles. “Completed his task and left this world alongside the other humanoids. He wanted to explore the worlds they call home, but it is said he promised to return one day when his curiosity is satisfied.”
Majesty nods. “Good. I’m glad that all ended as intended. A story of great triumph that I can’t wait to hear. Moving on. The flutter ponies?”
Celestia sighs “Flutter Valley and the flutter ponies with it succumbed to the same curse that took Dream Valley. It is said that one of the flutter ponies managed to deliver the sun stone to the last caravan to escape the curse, but no creature has ever presented it for safe keeping.”
Majesty nods, “likely wishful thinking then. Still, there could be benefits in either case. Hmm. I shall have to think further on this subject later. I shall now ask after the sea ponies.”
Celestia sighs. “The sea ponies broke ties with the land tribes when the feuding began. They then followed the rivers down to their natural habitat, that which they are named for. The sea. Currently there are cities of sea ponies beneath the ocean. Diplomacy has begun, but it is slow at best, since we land dwellers must wait for them to initiate contact in most cases.”
Majesty nods “at least an effort is being made. Perhaps I might be able to help. So few creatures realize the close relationship between water and life. I could use the ocean currents to send messages, Oceana permitting.”
Celestia nods “please ask as soon as possible. I think we all would like diplomacy to be accelerated. Sea ponies included.”
Majesty nods. Then sighs.
Celestia smiles gently, then nuzzles Majesty comfortingly “you can’t avoid asking about him forever, and the answer may be better than you fear.”
Majesty nods, then takes a deep breath before looking Celestia square in the eyes. “Spike?”
Celestia smiles “by which you mean the great dragon, formerly known as dragon lord Spikoran the Great.” Majesty chuckles at the thought of her son being ruler of the dragons for a time, then gasps and covers her mouth with her hoof at Celestia’s next words. “He remembered.” When Majesty looks up for further confirmation, Celestia nods “he did. And he asked to be informed the moment anything new happened regarding you. He misses his mother.”
Majesty is again teary eyed as she replies “his mother misses him. Please notify him that I shall take the earliest opportunity to go see him.”
Celestia nods “I shall.”
Majesty smiles, then looks at Rey. “You are the one who walked through memory with me, correct?”
Rey nods. “That’s correct Majesty. I hope you don’t mind if I continue to use your mortal name.”
Majesty smiles “it makes no difference to me. I accept either of my names, whichever another prefers to use. Hmm. If I’m recalling correctly, when I looked around after emerging from my prison, you looked different.”
Rey blinks “what? I looked different? How could that be. I don’t think I used transform.”
Celestia goes to stand before Rey “nevertheless, your appearance did change. I’m not sure exactly what happened. I can only say that Luna and I witnessed some sort of metamorphosis. You seemed to grow vastly more powerful than you normally are after said metamorphosis. Now, however, you have returned to your original form.”
Rey hmms. “A metamorphosis that increased my power? That sounds like Pokemon evolution. But there are numerous problems with that theory. The most obvious ones being that Pokemon evolution is usually a permanent change. Along with that, the other obvious issue is that to my knowledge, neither of my progenitors, mew and mewtwo, have the ability to evolve. Mew can use the technique transform as I can, but it’s not even close to being the same thing. I can’t think of any way to explain what you witnessed, but I don’t doubt that you saw what you say you saw. Hmmm.” she shakes her head. “Not a clue. I’ll have to investigate this in depth. But for now, I must confess I’m starving. Figuring out how to help Majesty took so much of my focus that I skipped breakfast and lunch.”
Celestia and Luna blink bemusedly, then turn to look when a rumbling sound comes from Majesty.
“Food? You mean actual real food? Yes please. My divinity born immortality is more than enough to keep me alive, but food is still something I’ve missed.”
The two elder princesses look at each other and smile. “Then a late lunch it is. For now, the rest can wait.”
This is met by a cheer from Rey and Majesty.

As Rey trances in her usual place, she can’t help but feel like someone is trying to reach her. Finally she hears in her mind “can you hear me? Please, help! I don’t have much time before this one chance leaves forever!”
Rey’s brow furrows as she responds “I hear you. Where are you? Who are you?”
The voice, feminine, strong and regal, responds “my location is unclear to me. I am imprisoned in a cage with no view of the outside world. My bindings are impossible for me to break myself. As for my identity, I intend to share a memory with you to help you know my prison so you can find it more easily. Will you walk through memory with me?”
Rey nods. “Let’s do it. I’ll pay close attention for any clues I can use to locate you.”
The voice says “thank you! We’ll start now. I will show you the events of the day leading up to the moment of my imprisonment.”
Rey’s perception quickly changes to a chamber. Looking around, it appears to be a potions lab. Then she feels a presence beside her and turns to look upon a unicorn mare who is staring at a cauldron prepared for crafting a new potion.
Tumblr media
The unicorn she beholds is the very definition of regal, from her garments to the crown upon her head to her own appearance. And when she speaks, it leaves no doubt. This unicorn is the one she was just speaking to.
“I hope he gets back soon. The sooner I get started on this the better.”
A short moment later, Rey turns as she hears someone coming towards the room. She almost thinks that she’s looking at a child version of Spike for a moment before noticing that there are differences between Spike and the dragon before her now. The unicorn turns and smiles. “Good. Welcome back, Spike. Did you collect everything I needed?”
The dragon nods. “Sure did, Majesty. Got the ingredients and a vessel for once everything’s put together.” He says, setting various items that he takes from a pouch he’s wearing on a table.
Majesty, the unicorn, nods. “Excellent. In that case, I shall begin.” She says, turning back to the cauldron as a multitude of items including those that Spike left on the table begin levitating around her. “We’ll start simple. Hair of an earth pony, donated by Magic Star.” A single hair is dropped into the cauldron. “Pegasus feather, from Firefly.” A pink feather is added. “Unicorn horn shavings, courtesy of myself.” Another addition to the potion is made.
“Don’t forget a dragon scale.” Spike says, picking one from his arm and flicking it into the potion.
Majesty smiles. “Indeed. Thank you, Spike. Next, bubbles of a seapony. Wing scales of a flutterpony.” The list goes on and on, going from parts of various species to magical plants. “Finally, one of the hardest things to come by. Claw of a draconequus. A gift from Discord himself.”
Spike sighs. “Is he really the last one?”
Majesty nods “at this time, yes. Though he has told me there are ways he could change that. One of his favorite potential methods involves transmogrifying chicken eggs.”
Spike chuckles. “Why am I not surprised?”
Majesty chuckles, then turns to look at a couple sets of ingredients she has not touched yet. “Naturally magical portents are covered. Now for magical processes.” She levitates a piece of lead with a few odds and ends above the cauldron. “Alchemy. In the form of its most powerful process. Transforming lead into gold.” The other items begin to spiral around the lead as it starts to glow. When the glow has grown to encompass the whole group of items, Majesty releases her levitation magic, letting the mid transformation set fall into the potion, which flashes a rainbow luminescence. Majesty smiles, then takes a vial half filled with water along with a few plants and drops the plants into the vial. She begins shaking the vial with her magic acting as a cap. “A potion. Mid creation. It doesn’t matter what kind. What matters is that it is what it is.” She drops the vial into the cauldron, causing another flash. “A half cast spell.” Her horn glows as the potion flashes again. Again, she names several magical processes, each one empowering whatever is being formed in the cauldron. Finally she sighs. “There. Magical processes are covered.”
Spike scratches his neck and says “now for the really hard stuff?”
Majesty nods. “That’s right, Spike. It’s time to involve the forms of magic that govern our world. The branches of magic. I shall start with the one that comes easiest to me. The magic of Life.” She waves her hoof and a blossom materializes from nothing before dropping into the cauldron. “Next, the magic of Time.” A sphere of green light appears above the cauldron as Majesty concentrates, seeming to be made up of a multitude of clock faces.
Spike tilts his head “I still wonder about the clock look of time magic.”
Majesty, still concentrating says “I’ve told you Spike, Time doesn’t actually look like anything. The reason you see faces of clocks is because it’s a simple appearance of something that you see every day. Your mind substitutes it for Time’s true appearance because you want it to look like something. And you associate clocks with time because you use them to tell time.” With that, the sphere of temporal magic drops into the cauldron.
Spike nods “right. Sorry, I keep forgetting.”
This statement seems to strike a nerve with Majesty, evidenced by her flinching when hearing him say that.
Spike grimaces before saying “oops. Sorry again.”
Majesty sighs, then continues the process of whatever she’s doing. She adds a valentine infused with pure Love magic, a libra as a symbol of Harmony magic, and empties a jar of liquid Chaos magic into the cauldron. Then she sighs, stepping back a bit. “That’s all the easy stuff done. Now for the really hard part.”
Spike nods. “The last ingredient. The forbidden branch of magic.”
Majesty nods. “A true version can only manifest one way. Stand back, Spike.” Once Spike has complied, Majesty sighs, then begins straining as her body begins to emit tendrils of black colored magic in pulses. “COME ON! ANGER! HATRED! RAGE! FILL ME WITH THE DARKEST POWER!” But though she commands, and though she sweats from the effort, the magic she is now trying to use will not respond. Finally, with one last great effort, her strength gives out and she falls onto her side, Spike running over as the dark magic fully dissipates.
“Majesty! Are you alright?”
Majesty coughs a couple times before saying “don’t be ridiculous. Of course I am. I’ve already recovered. But… my heart breaks at this failure. My grand creation can’t be completed by me.”
Spike looks at the cauldron. “Can it work the way it is now?”
Majesty shakes her head. “No. Though all the ingredients were essential to give it power and invulnerability, the last ingredient, magic of the branch of Rage, was the one that would make it fierce. Without that dark magic being a part of it, it will be a docile, timid thing. Not suitable for its intended purpose at all. Without the final ingredient, my Rainbow of Light will be no help to my children.”
Rey blinks, reaching up to the locket she now wears. It’s further confirmed when, after being asked by Majesty, Spike takes that self same locket out of his pouch and scoops what’s in the cauldron into it. (I just witnessed the birth of the Rainbow of Light. But she couldn’t complete it? Megan and everyone else had such confidence in its power. I wonder how it was eventually completed.)
Spike sighs “if it can’t help them, what’ll we do? You said that there’s only one path for you to walk now, right?”
Majesty nods “that’s correct, Spike. My personal timeline is nearing a set moment. An event that I would only be able to avoid through the corruption and possibly destruction of the flow of time in this dimension. I am not willing to bring such atrocities into being, so I must go to meet my fate. Still, I still have a few choices left to me before that moment comes. And I have just made one. If you’re still insistent on coming with me, it’s time to go.”
At this, Spike gets a determined look on his face and says “I’ve told you, Majesty, my mind is made up. I’m not letting you go to face your doom alone. You don’t deserve that. You deserve to have someone with you to comfort you in these last free moments.”
Majesty sighs “and I have told you, Spike, that I am grateful you care so much for me. But have I not also told you the results? If you come with me to my doom, all that you are and all that you have been will be lost, possibly beyond any hope of recall. Your current identity will be stripped away, leaving behind only a name and your natural inclinations.”
Spike looks down. “I know. I understand. But I’m not changing my mind. So, where are we going first?”
Majesty sighs, then turns to the door and begins moving, Spike following. “The Rainbow is my children’s key to salvation, regardless of the weak state it’s in right now. We must make sure it is kept safe until the appropriate moment. To that end, we will entrust it to one who will be able to deliver it into its keeper’s hands when the time comes.”
Spike nods. After a short journey, Rey notes that he seems to be bemused as he realizes where they’re going. “Really Majesty?”
Majesty nods “he may be absent minded at times, but only because I created him with a particular purpose. I’ve never told you exactly why I made him the way he is, have I? I doubt anyone has yet told you that humanoids: humans, elves, gnomes and other such beings, are actually visitors to this space time. They came here from somewhere else and lost their way back. The Moochiks grand purpose is to discover what they have forgotten. They love our world, but they miss their homes. So I created the Moochik to help them find their way back.”
Spike nods. “I see. You’re right, I never knew they weren’t native. So the reason he seems absent minded is because he’s constantly focused mainly on that?” At Majesty’s nod, Spike smiles. “I just gained a new appreciation for his oddities.”
A moment later the group is approaching a hut surrounded by enormous mushrooms. Majesty looks around before calling out “Moochik, we’re here on an urgent matter. Please appear to us.”
What appears in response to this is what looks like a very small very old human, though with pointed ears sticking up from his hat and a rather large nose. His size is such that Rey would tower over him if they both stood upon the ground. She can’t help but question if he would even be as tall as her thighs. “Majesty. It is good to see you, but unless I am mistaken you are stopping by on your way to your fated confrontation with him.”
Majesty nods “that is correct, Moochik. Spike, present it to him please.”
Spike nods, striding forward and holding the locket out to the Moochik. The Moochik takes the locket and holds it up to inspect it. “Hmm. I detect powerful magic held within. Might this be the end result of the project we previously spoke of, Majesty?”
Majesty nods. “At least as nearly as I was capable of. My fear was realized. I was unable to add the final ingredient. Still, I foresee that it will be the primary defense for my children for a time. That vision hasn’t changed. It must be completed by someone else after I’m imprisoned.”
The Moochik nods “the most logical explanation. Hmm. But why would you bring this to me? With how my thoughts are focused, I’m likely to forget I have it.”
Majesty smiles and says “true, but that’s the very reason I left you an assistant, isn’t it?”
The Moochik snaps his fingers “of course. Habit! Come here, Habit!” After a brief moment, a brown bunny comes running up on two legs. He wears a pair of red overalls with one strap hanging loose. Rey can tell just from looking that this particular bunny could likely speak if he tried. He stops in front of the Moochik, who promptly passes the locket to him “Majesty needs us to keep this safe for the time being. And I’m sure she’ll have particular instructions for you as well.”
Habit nods, pocketing the locket as he steps over to stand in front of Majesty. Majesty nods, then leans down and whispers in his ear, Habit nodding intermittently. Finally, Majesty stands tall again and says “think you can remember all that, Habit? It’s very important.” Habit nods, giving her a salute before a crash of thunder startles them all. After they’ve recovered, they all look in a particular direction.
The Moochik looks at Majesty “he’s expecting you. And I’d also wager that he’s getting impatient.”
Majesty nods, then looks at Spike “Spike. I know it’s likely futile, but I offer you the chance to go back one last time. If you continue to journey with me now, your fate, like mine, will be sealed.”
Spike crosses his arms. “You’re right, Majesty. It is futile. I haven’t doubted my decision once. I’m going with you.”
Majesty sighs, nodding “very well. We must be on our way then. Moochik. Habit. Thank you for all you have done and all you will do for my children. Farewell.”
The Moochik and Habit salute together as Majesty and Spike leave.

Drop banan box in u room
Hey there. Rey here. Sorry it took me so long to respond, had to deal with a pack of timber wolves. Gave me a bit of a chase. On that note, thanks for the bananas. They make a good energizing snack before workouts, plenty of natural sugars in them.

Hello, you may not know me, but you have heard of me. My name is Aaron. Those who are versed in symbology may even have an idea of what my cutie mark means. The broken mark of infinity is no mistake. I am a being of near infinite power. However, there are numerous restrictions on how I use that power, some of which I have placed on myself. But whether self imposed or not, these limitations are quite solidly in place. Even the ones I myself am responsible for are all but impossible to break. There is only one power I have that has basically no restriction on it. Knowledge. I have a form of omniscience. In this universe, I use this gift to guide situations to the best possible outcome. Most often I work in the shadows. Guiding invisibly the actions of others as need be. More often than not, situations in which my knowledge could be beneficial are actually resolved with little if any intervention on my part. I truly enjoy moments like that. However, the current situation is most certainly not likely to be resolved in the best way possible without me, which is why I have chosen now to introduce myself. As for the other part of my cutie mark, the shield doesn’t lie. I am primarily a defender of those who are good and true. This is why I take action when I must. One thing I can truly say about this universe is that I am exceedingly unlikely to ever have to exercise my true power here. There is only one possible situation in which I would need to act in a more hooves or hands on way. But even if that situation does come to pass, it is far in the future yet. As with the others who take part in this Tumblr, I am willing to answer questions. Unlike the others, my stories, should I choose to share them, are likely to be highly different than those of the others. That is all for now. Until next time.

A moment later, Rey becomes aware of another mental pattern joining theirs, coming into being behind her. She quiets her thoughts to listen to the new arrival more closely.
“What? What is this? This… this isn’t just a dream anymore, is it? I feel something. Something… familiar. Like a half forgotten friend from a long time ago. Wait… is this….MAGIC?!”
Rey can’t help but smile. “That’s right. Your world doesn’t have true magic, does it?”
“No. Um, who are you. The memories are all becoming as clear as day again, but your voice isn’t in any of them.”
Rey sighs. “My name is Rey. This is the first time we have met, Megan Williams.”
Megan sighs “I see. But it’s actually Megan Richards now. Rey, can I ask… is everything okay there? I mean, it’s been a long time, but normally a surprise visit like this meant trouble. I’m perfectly ready to rush to the defense of you all again like I always did back then if I need to.”
Rey sighs. “I see. You really are that sort of person. I’m really happy to know that wasn’t exaggerated. You truly were what they needed back then.”
Megan is silent a moment. “Back then? Heh. Suddenly I get the feeling that you aren’t here to invite me for a visit or to ask me to rescue you. Rey. I… I want to know. How long ago was… back then on your end?”
Rey sighs. “I knew from the moment I was enlisted to participate in this that you would ask. Just as those who enlisted me knew I would answer. Megan. Steel yourself. Grasp my left hand if you’re ready.” When Rey feels Megan’s hand grasping hers, she says “for us, it has been… more than six… millennia since you were last here.”
Megan sighs. “I… I’m not going back again, am I?”
Rey sighs “the world you knew. The world I know. Though they are the same in terms of planet, they are still very different places. I’m sorry, Megan, but… I must be blunt and inform you that the world I know has no place for you.”
Rey can feel Megan nodding in understanding. “I get it. Some things have just changed too drastically to allow for me anymore. Then there’s just one more thing I want to ask before you tell me why you’ve contacted me. My ponies. The ones I knew back then. What happened to them after the link was destroyed?”
Rey smiles. “You would’ve been proud of them Megan. Losing you, instead of breaking them, galvanized them to find their own strength. They took that moment to heart and used it to motivate themselves so they could become stronger than they had ever been before, building the basis of a kingdom on the broken pieces of that link. They rose up and never looked down. Rushed forward and never looked back. If ever they spared a moment to think of what had been, it was only to motivate themselves to do better again.”
Megan says “enough. You’re absolutely right, Rey. I’m… unbelievably proud of them. I spent so many nights haunted by nightmares of so many different worst case scenarios. I still have nightmares now. Horrible visions of ways they could have suffered without me or… the Rainbow. Of course. That’s why this is happening tonight isn’t it? You or your recruiters have somehow crafted a method to bring the Rainbow of Light back to your world, haven’t you?”
Rey nods “that’s right Megan. But to forestall any sort of anger you might feel from that, I want to point out that along with restoring an ancient defense to ourselves, there is a consideration for you as well. Your world has no true magic of its own. The Rainbow of Light is an incarnation of pure magic. There could be… issues born of these two facts.”
Megan nods, “right. A world without true magic would have no ability to defend itself from any effects the presence of a powerful magical force could cause. But really, that’s not even a shadow of a consideration for me. You see, when the Rainbow Bridge shattered, and I was left holding the Rainbow of Light with no way to get it back to you, I made an oath to myself. Even if I could never go back, I would still, with no hesitation, return the Rainbow to you the first chance I got. And this is starting to seem like a really good chance to do just that. Tell me what to do.”
Rey smiles. “You may have noticed I specified that you grasp my left hand to let me know you’d braced yourself. I specified the left because the right is enchanted with a powerful transportation spell, capable of carrying one thing from one world to another. If you place the Rainbow of Light in my right hand, that’ll be it. It will leave your world and return to this one. However, you do realize that doing this will mean surrendering the last link to this world that you have, correct?”
Megan is once again silent for a moment, then says “it doesn’t belong to me. I may have wielded it the most often, but it belongs to you. It always has. I’ve come to terms with what fulfilling my oath would mean. Rey, hold your right hand out to me.”
Rey does, then feels something get placed into her hand. When she looks, she can’t help but marvel at how some of the greatest powers in existence can manifest in such simple items.
Tumblr media
As Rey looks at the locket holding the Rainbow of Light, a small burst of light emits from her hand. Nyx says “with that, the Rainbow should now reappear in your hand back in our world, Rey.”
Megan, hearing the other voice, chances a look around and smiles, seeing the two ponies. “You never really know how much you really care about someone or something until you realize just the sight of them is enough to make you happy. I don’t recognize either of you, but just seeing ponies again even if it’s the last time still makes me smile.”
Luna bows to Megan “Megan. We have much we owe you for. This act of prevention against eventual calamity isn’t nearly enough to repay you, but I fear it will be all we will ever be able to do. Please, forgive this poor show of gratitude.”
Megan smirks, tilting her head and crossing her arms. “Okay, you have got to be some sort of princess or something. The way you talk, dead giveaway. Although, I’m not quite sure what kind of pony you are. I remember ponies with wings and ponies with horns, but not ponies with both.”
Nyx smiles “we are alicorns. Speaking in terms of attributes, we are a unified form of the other three pony tribes. Pegasi, unicorns and earth ponies all in one.”
Megan tilts her head. “What about sea ponies? Flutter ponies? Has something happened to them?”
Luna sighs. “I believe it may now be time to reveal to you that at some point in the past, earth ponies, unicorns and pegasi began feuding with each other. This was eventually resolved… but the cost of the feuding eventually consumed Dream Valley. The kingdom we live in now, Equestria, is in an entirely different region. Much was lost when Dream Valley was consumed by the Wendigo’s curse, the flutter ponies included. As for the sea ponies, it had been some centuries since our last open communication with them. They have become a secretive tribe, allowing only occasional visits to their undersea domain at the best of times. As we must wait for them to contact us in order for communication to begin, diplomacy proceeds at a slow crawl at best. I don’t begrudge them their secrecy, but I would hope we could be more united in the future,”
Megan nods. “I’m with you on that. But I can’t help but notice this group dream deal seems to be getting less defined. I think I better let you go before you hurt yourselves.”
Luna nods. “Once more, I want to apologize that we can’t do more to thank you, Megan. That being said…”
