Molluck, Brewer, and Aslik in the oddswitch au. I drew Molluck tiny this time based on  @ohfugecannada and  francoisl-artblog ‘s head canons  on what gluks would look like without industrialization. Both envision them being short and almost like dwarfs which makes the Glukkons seem more adorable and endearing similar to mudokons in the canon lore. Initially this scene was meant to be reminiscent to the beginning of Soulstorm with Abe having escaped with a small fallowing and conversing with a shaman type figure. Here Molluck and Brewer are bickering over their next steps wearing a mix of worker and tribal garb. 

In  @ohfugecannada ‘s hc Molluck was born free and resents his fellow gluks for not fighting back, especially alchemists as they try to dissuade him from his goal. I agree with them that having  an industrial-outsider protagonist would give a different perspective on the factories and I think that would be really cool for the au. Aslik and Brewmaster could serve Alf and Toby’s roles with  Brewmaster being an alchemist Molluck convinces to join him on his journey? 

I made the symbol on the rock a flipped version of the Magog Cartel’s logo. Its slightly less threatening and meant to resemble the sun. Perhaps Glukkon’s worship the sun and their insistence on doing so only further infuriates the Mudokons?

Tears Meat Bones

Yeah, this is the drawing idea I mentioned on my previous post. (Y) Still being a sketch, even yeah, my sketches tend to be detailed and rendered...

But yes, I have been wondering the relationships between these Gluks and what their roles were in this business. Well, it's obvious that Morguer was one to manage the bone digging operation, Aslik managed the trains, and Brewmaster took care of the brew. It seems like Molluck had the main responsibility of this plan, using Mudokons. Like, his lil wooden doll is burned in the opening cutscene, and he is/was the CEO of both RuptureFarms and SoulStorm Brewery. It really interests me to know how these guys even ended up into this together, like how they did even meet each other and so on.

I also tried to picture their different personalities here. I have been laughing at that Aslik... He just seems be the least serious of the quartet, and well, Molluck calling him an idiot just strengthens this image to me... So yeah, felt like making him being lazy Asslik. Morguer seems to be like an serious business man that doesn't smile much but I made him have a slight smile. And well, Brewmaster and Molluck are more expressive.

I must say that I have somehow started to like Morguer more recently. He just seems like a pleasant Gluk; not sure how to explain it... I feel like Molluck had some respect toward him. But yeah, if I gotta put these SoulStorm Glukkons in my fave order, it would be (no surprise): Molluck, Morguer, Brewmaster, and Aslik. I don't really have much special reasons for this order, it's just how pleasant they feel to me. Man, it would be more difficult to put all the Glukkon characters in order... But I know that, well, Molluck is the number one and Phleg is my least fave one... He is like the only Gluk I cannot really stand... I do like him saying that 'Don't think, drink!' thing but otherwise, I don't like him... When it comes to those AE's Gluks, I somehow like Dripik the most. He is just somehow adorable, and well, I also find Morguer somehow adorable too, though yes, I do find Glukkons adorable in general... But no one is even close to Molluck's adorability! Man, Glukkons are supposed to be ugly (OWI calls them like the ugliest creatures in Oddworld...) but they just give the opposite impression to me... Such cuties doing ugly business. 🫀✨

I just love Glukkons, no matter how evil things they did. And like I have said, if I lived in Oddworld, I would be glad to be Molluck's partner in crime. (Y) When it comes to Oddworld, I just don't really care about moral stuff; just wanna let my dark humour to flourish. I just really love all the darkness in Oddworld. Man, it just came to my mind that I never have said how I loved the thing in SoulStorm's bad ending where that foam extinguisher was shown after the fire started on the train. My dark sense of humour just really loves stuff like that. Oddworld is just like a perfect playground to my mind. (Y)

I dunno what else to really say here... I haven't still felt much better. But I'm trying to keep creating my stuff. Planning to try doing that Molluck sculpt next... It's been so long since I sculpted anything... Welp, if it turns out bad, gotta just keep doing more!

Some Oddworld Art

I was watching some gameplay of Toby’s Escape and noticed Alf and Toby use Mud like how some people use Man in certain sentences. (I.e. aw mud…)

And yes, I remember that the glukkons in Abe’s Exoddus did something similar. With Aslik referring to Dripik and Phleg as “Gentleglukks”.

What’s funny is that we actually have heard “Man” used in other Oddworld games like Strangers Wrath. I’m not pointing that out in a “this is a plot hole” kind of way, just that maybe it’s some kind of regional thing between eastern mudos and western mudos. Maybe some societies in Oddworld (glukkons and Mudokons) use their species name as slag while others (outlaws, Grubbs, Klakkers etc) use their gender as one(?)

Either way, people who write/draw Stranger interacting with Abe and the other mudokons should take this into account because the results would be comedy gold.
