…Screw it, I can’t write fanfics for the life of me so I’m just gonna make a Tumblr post.

*Ahem*

So, I decided to go ahead and ask the boldest of questions, ladies germs and nonbinary terms.

What if the Ashen Wolves got their own Route in FE3H?

Inevitable Random Asker Who Feels the Need to Remain Anonymous: “But what about Cindered-?”

Cindered Shadows is dubiously canon at best and explicitly a SIDE STORY.

Buuut, I’m still gonna use Cindered Shadows Storyline as the means for the Wolves to meet Byleth.

So Byleth doesn’t meet the Wolves until after he gets the Sword of the Creator, meaning that we’ll be starting off this story during the Verdant Rain Moon, rather than at the beginning of the year.

Which, of course, means that Byleth is going to have to be the professor to one of the other three houses and the Wolves Simply join his house after the events of Cindered Shadows.

The question now is, which house?

Black Eagles obviously.

This Ashen Wolves Route will be a third offshoot of the Black Eagles Route.

Except when the events of Chapter 11 roll around, and Byleth is forced to choose between the Empire and the Church, he chooses neither, stating that he, “Refuses to work with a madwoman who is willing to let innocents suffer for the sake of their ambitions.”

He also decides to snap the Sword of the Creator in half, just to prove a point, so his special weapon in this Route is instead the Knight-Captain’s Sword, Byleth’s signature weapon in 3 Hopes.

He then leaves for Abyss alongside the Wolves, but not before telling all his students that they should return to his homes, not wanting to drag them into his decision, and most of them do comply save for Alois, who’s last promise to Jeralt was to protect Byleth no matter what, and three specific students who share histories with the Ashen Wolves’ members.

Oh, and before I forget, I decided to add one extra dose of flavor, by giving the Ashen Wolves 4 extra members in order to make them a full house. But since I figured most people wouldn’t find OCs particularly interesting, I decided to take an alternate route.

I reincarnated four special characters into the world of Fodlán, intertwined their stories with those of the Wolves, and laid the ground work for FE3H Fifth and Final Route, Violet Sun.

The designs are based off their unique Classes.

Lucina: Glorious Archer (Sword B, Lance C, Bow A)

Shigure: Sky Lord (Lance B, Faith C+, Flying B+)

Morgan: Grandmaster (Sword A, Reason A)

Kana: Nabatean Knight (Sword A, Faith A)

Also, In terms of Crests, Lucina and Morgan are Crestless, while Shigure and Kana both have the Major Crest of Anakos

The Crest grant the siblings different abilities. Shigure can understand animals and is the only man in Fodlan who can ride a Pegasus. (His is named Caeda.)

Kana can turn into a dragon because Cornelia experimented on her.

Tokomaru in the “Ultimate Childcare Giver Komaru” AU.

Komaru and Toko had met and become friends during Toko’s first year at Hope’s Peak.

In fact, Toko was there when Komaru met the Warriors of Hope for the first time. Instead of Junko, Komaru was the one who found them and stopped Monaca’s group suicide “prank”.

It wasn’t until Toko’s second year at Hope’s Peak and Komaru’s first year as the Ultimate Childcare Giver that the two would start dating.

Sadly that does mean that when Komaru and Toko are put into their respective Killing Games, Komaru forgets the romantic aspect of their relationship and Toko forgets Komaru altogether.

Fortunately Syo’s there to remember for all three of them.

Paladin Bernie

Basically just a mini AU idea I had where a confrontation in the Holy Mausoleum leads to the birth of a rivalry.

Basically I just wanted to let Bernadetta go rage mode and see what happens from there.

Warning: Depictions of violence.

Within the Holy Mausoleum, sounds of steel meeting steel could be heard as the Black Eagles faced off against the thieves from the Western Church.

Professor Byleth had entrusted her students to handle the more basic enemies as she held back the Death Knight, not wanting to let her students risk the armor-clad monster’s ire.

Bernadetta was practically crying as she shot down another Dark Mage with her bow while Dorothea used a Thunder Spell to pick off a Thief.

The Mage and Archer had grown used to working together, having been designated as partners by the Professor near the beginning of the year. Dorothea would be in charge of using her Thunder Spells to deal with enemies who were further away while Bernadetta would use her arrows to keep them from getting closer.

This partnership had allowed the two to become close friends, enough so that Bernadetta was willing to share some of the part of her past that she preferred remained forgotten, including why her fear of befriending Commoners existed.

“Nice shot, Bern!” Congratulated Dorothea with a weak smile. Bernie could tell she wasn’t the only one who wanted to be anywhere but here.

“Th-Thanks Dorothea… let’s just get this done so I can go hide in my room until the Horsebow Moon rolls around…”

“Amen to that…” Said Dorothea drily.

“DIE!” Both girls flinched as they heard the rumble of the Death Knights voice followed by a cry of pain. They turned and saw Byleth go flying through the air and land on her back, her clothes becoming stained with her blood. Slowly the Death Knight’s horse trotted closer as the armored man raised his Scythe, preparing to end their teacher.

“Professor…” Gasped Bernadetta. “No… she’s losing.”

There was a beat of silence before she heard Dorothea speak up. “Not if I have anything to say about it.”

“Huh?” Bernadetta barely had time to question what Dorothea meant before the songstress suddenly rushed in. She saw sparks form around her hand, before casting a Thunder spell that struck the Death Knight, distracting him from Byleth.

“Hey! Guy in the tacky armor! Get away from my teacher!” Shouted Dorothea.

“Do not interfere…” Growled the Death Knight before raising his scythe, which crackled with magic. Dorothea looked up to see a Thunder Spell forming above her, but she was fortunately able to jump out of the way before being hit. The Death Knight prepared to fire off a second bolt of Thunder, one which Dorothea wouldn’t be able to dodge. Fortunately she didn’t have to as an arrow shot through the air and struck the Death Knight’s forearm, throwing off his Counterattack just enough to make the spell miss its target and instead obliterate the shattered remains of a nearby pillar.

“Dorotheaaa!” Cried Bernadetta as she rushed over to her classmate, helping the girl to her feet. “Don’t just run off like that!”

Dorothea chuckled despite the circumstances. “Sorry about that Bern, and thanks for the assistance.” She replied.

“Get out of the way you two!” Byleth’s monotonous, but loud voice carried to the girls, who turned in time to see that within seconds, the Death Knight had turned to instead target them.

Bernadetta froze in place, unable to react in time as the Death Knight’s scythe raised into the air before coming down at her. Her eyes widened as she hear the sound of clothes and flesh alike tearing while blood splattered against the floor.

She then heard Dorothea let out a cough, her blood getting on the purple haired girl’s uniform as her legs gave out, collapsing against Bernadettta as her blood continued to spill from the injury on her back that she’d received when she decided to serve as a human shield to protect Bernadetta.

The weight of her friend caused Bernie to fall to the floor with her friend resting her head and body against her chest and lap while her skirt slowly became soaked with her blood.

“D-Dorothea… you… why…?” She asked, barely able to form words from the shock.

“Because… I’m your friend… silly…” Wheezed the girl weakly, unable to look Bernadetta in the eye as she lied against her, bleeding out.

Bernadetta felt her breath catch in her throat as tears welled in her eyes.

“One down… one to go…” Said the Death Knight menacingly as he raised his scythe to finish the girls off once and for all.

Little did he know that in that moment, everything Bernadetta had experienced up until now flashed before her eyes, including the friendships that she’d forged thus far. Most importantly, her friendship with Dorothea. And then, something inside Bernadetta von Varley snapped.

“DON'T YOU TOUCH HER!” The Death Knight physically recoiled at the sudden shift in personality from the timid girl as she suddenly shouted at him. She then raised her bow and fired off an arrow, managing to go through one of the gaps in his armor and pierce his flesh. He attempted to react with a Counterattack, but before he could he saw the Crest or Indech flash above the girl’s head as she drew her bow once again. “GET AWAY FROM US!” She shouted and fired again, striking another weak point, causing him to stagger back a little. But this time, he was able to react, summoning a Thunder spell and bringing it down on Bernadetta.

Her eyes widened, and in the last moment she managed to push Dorothea off her, sparing the songstress from the lightning, but not herself.

Bernadetta’s cries of pain as she was electrocuted echoed throughout the Holy Mausoleum, drawing the attention of her allies.

Bernadetta let out a pained wheeze after the Lightning subsided before gritting her teeth and drawing her bow again, her unique ability kicking in. “YOU'RE NOT GOING TO HURT ANYONE ELSE!” She shouted before planting a third arrow into the Death Knight, this one managing to hit even harder as the girl forced herself to her feet. Then, the Crest of Indech flashed once more as she drew her final arrow. “NOW DISAPPEAR!” She practically screeched as she fired one last arrow into the Death Knight, sticking it straight into his throat.

“You win this time…” The man’s voice came out slightly gargled thanks to the blood pooling in his mouth as he ripped the arrow out. “But next time will be different…” Then, with a flash of pink magic, he vanished.

Panting and exhausted, Bernadetta felt the effects of her adrenaline fueled rage amp fade away as she fell to her knees. Weakly, she looked over to see her friends still bleeding out on the floor of the Holy Mausoleum. “Doro…thea…” She said softly before collapsing to the floor.

As her vision began to darken, she could hear shouting. She was pretty sure she heard Linhardt’s name being tossed around as she lost consciousness…

‘Aight gang, given your positive reaction, I’m gonna reincarnate characters from FE13-15 into Fodlan and include them as background characters in the stories I’m working on. Here’s the whole list

Alm - He’s the Gatekeeper, ‘nuff said. His heart does go doki doki whenever that cute redhead Priest is around though. He’s 21 years old at the start of the game.

Celica - She’s a Priest who works at Garreg Mach Monestry. She always makes sure to say hello to the friendly Gatekeeper at least once per day. She’s 21 years old at the start of the game.

Gray - A Myrmidon working in Jeralt’s company and helps Jeralt on his missions. He’s 22 years old at the start of the game.

Tobin - A Soldier working in Jeralt’s company and helps Jeralt on his missions. He’s 23 years old at the start of the game.

Faye - A Fighter working in Jeralt’s company and helps Jeralt on his missions. She’s 20 years old at the start of the game.

Kliff - A Monk working in Jeralt’s company and helps Jeralt on his missions. He’s 19 years old at the start of the game.

Chrom - He’s a Minor Noble from the Leister Alliance who just recently took control after his sister was grievously injured. He hopes to be able to help his people. He’s 24 years old at the start of the game.

Cordelia - A highly talented Pegasus Knight. She was once Chrom’s retainer, but after years of harboring feelings for him, her friends convinced her to confess to the blue haired noble. A confessions that Chrom happily accepted. She’s 25 years old at the start of the game.

Lucina - Chrom and Cordelia’s elder daughter, she inherited her fathers blue hair and her mother’s crimson eyes. She’s 4 years old at the start of the game.

Severa - Chrom and Cordelia’s younger daughter. She inherited her mother’s Scarlet hair and her father’s azure eyes. She’s 2 years old at the start of the game.

Robin - He’s an Agarthan who couldn’t stand by what his people were doing and the atrocities they intended to commit, so he fled. After over 2 months of wandering, he collapsed in a field somewhere in the Leister Alliance, and was found by a blue haired nobleman. Pretending to be suffering from amnesia, Robin hoped that he’d finally found a true home. He’s 23 years old at the start of the game.

Emmeryn - Chrom’s older sister and the former leader of their land, until an injury forced her into retirement. She spends her time slowly recovering with the help of her retainer. She’s 30 years old at the start of the game.

Lissa - Chrom and Emmeryn’s little sister. She’s a little firecracker who loves to play pranks. She’s currently attending the Officer’s Academy as a member of the Golden Deer. She’s 19 years old at the start of the game.

Frederick - Emmeryn’s retainer. He’s fiercely protective of his liege and her younger siblings, to the point where he was granted the title, “Frederick the Wary.” He’s 29 years old at the start of the game.

Corrin - She’s a Nabatean who survived the Genocide of her people and now wanders across Fodlan, helping those that she can, when she can. She’s forgotten how old she is at this point.

Ryoma - He’s a Faerghus Noble and Swordmaster who’s land borders on the edge of Empire territory and his people constantly suffer from conflicts between themselves and those from the adjacent Empire land. He’s 27 years old at the start of the game.

Xander - He’s an Empire Noble and Paladin who’s land borders on the edge of Faerghus territory and his people constantly suffer from conflicts between themselves and those from the adjacent Faerghus land. He’s 28 years old at the start of the game.

Hinoka - One of Ryoma’s younger sisters, a talented tomboy of a Pegasus Knight. She’s 24 years old at the start of the game.

Camilla - One of Xander’s younger sisters, a bewitching beauty of a Wyvern Rider. She’s 25 years old at the start of the game.

Takumi - Ryoma’s younger brother, a headstrong but skilled Archer. He’s 21 years old at the start of the game.

Leo - Xander’s younger brother, a headstrong but skilled Dark Mage. He’s 20 years old at the start of the game.

Sakura - Ryoma’s youngest sibling, she’s currently studying at the Officer’s academy as a member of the Blue Lions house. She’s 18 years old at the start of the game.

Age Swap AU Pairings

A list of who gets together and my opinions/reasons for these pairings.

This will be specifically for a Revelations Route, so if you wanna ship different combinations of characters in this AU, I won’t stop you.

I also won’t be getting into the Child Units (yet.) With all of that in mind, here’s the ASAU Pairings:

Corrin X Azura. I mean… it’s Corrin and Azura. How can I not? Especially since they’re not altered in this AU, but their kids are. Imagine big sibling Kana little brother Shigure dynamic.

Sakura X Hana. I’m as much of a sucker for Sakulise as the next FE14 fan, but honestly the bond these two have and have had for easily a decade at this point just overrides the softness of Adult Sakulise. Shiro is their son with Ryoma serving as a surrogate father.

Elise X Effie. Same as with Sakura and Hana, Elise and Effie’s bond in this universe (realm?) is just too strong for me not to pair them together. Siegbert is their son with Xander serving as a surrogate father.

Takumi X Oboro. This is a cute pairing, what can I say? Can you tell I’m a sucker for Liege X Lord pairings? Also, just imagine cute and sweet Kiragi making his mom’s Demon Face.

Leo X Niles. I don’t even know how to put my feelings on this pair into words, so I’ll just trust y’all to accept it. Forrest is their son with Beruka serving as a surrogate mother.

Hinoka X Hinata. This pairing is unique since it’s the only time I don’t ship a lord with their non swapped retainer (or another lord) but honestly I just like the himbo samurai/tomboy princess dynamic. Also protective older cousin Hisame is interesting.

Camilla X Beruka. Cute but strong Malig and her scary Assassin waifu? What’s not to love? Also Niles served as a surrogate father so they raise Nina together.

Ryoma X Xander. I decided to pair these two together since I figured I should do at least one pairing between a Hoshido and Nohrian royal. Since they couldn’t have kids with each other, they agreed to be surrogates so their oldest sisters could have kids, allowing Shiro and Siegbert to exist in this world.

Jakob X Charlotte. A very… very chaotic duo. This was simply a duo born from the fact that they were kinda just leftover after I paired off most of the other characters. Add super strength to Dwyer’s mountain of secret skills.

Silas X Felicia. One: they’re cute. Two: imagining Sophie inheriting Felicia’s clumsiness and ice magic is equally hilarious and terrifying.

Kaze X Orochi. Stoic ninja who struggles with feeling like he failed his liege due to something out of his control plus merry diviner who struggled with feeling like she failed her liege due to something out of her control equals both fun shenanigans and absolute angst. Also imagining Midori being able to somehow use a combination of Divining and her Medicine could make her a force of nature in her own way.

Saizo X Kagero. What can I say, I’m a sucker for this duo too. I’m sure they could be happy together once Saizo learns to stop having the personality of a cactus. Plus having two Ninja parents probably makes Asugi a super ninja.

Laslow X Selena X Odin. If I was gonna have Corrin get with Azura, an OT3 would be needed so all the kids would be capable of existing and I’m just a sucker for this trio. I’ll be using Henry!Laslow, Robin!Selena, and Lon’qu!Odin. Soleil inherits the Fell brand, Ophelia inherits the Exalts’s brand, and they get to be awesome redhead step sisters. Sorry to anyone who ships these two.

Azama X Subaki: …ok, look, so far I’ve done three wlw and only two mlm pairings. Two more guys were gonna have to get together. And after I saw these two, reread their supports, then read @unassumingvenusaur’s fanmade S Support for them, I wound up enjoying this pairing immensely. Also for the sake of not having to do anymore surrogates because this is getting complicated: Transmac Subaki (which I feel could not only make his backstory more interesting given the implications of how terrible his parents are) allowing for them to have a brown haired Caeldori and a red haired Mitama who are sisters.

Arthur X Setsuna. Apparently luck works like integers because when you combine an unlucky Fighter with an equally unlucky Archer, you get a doubly lucky Wyvern riding super hero. Also imagining dorks like Arthur and Setsuna together is just adorable tbh.

Kaden X Peri. When I don’t pair Peri (heh) with Laslow, I usually pair her with one of the furries so I can create an absolutely terrifying Kitsune/Wolfskin. In this case I decided that Peri would be Selkie’s mother and the rest of the army gets to suffer then consequences.

Hayato X Mozu. One: this is basically genderswapped Cyril/Lysithea and Donnel/Maribelle which already makes it a win. Two: Rhajat with Mozu’s hair and freckles is a hilariously adorable image.

Benny X Rinkah. Gentle giant meats muscular spitfire to create flaming good boy.

Keaton X Nyx. Yes, let’s pair the most mature woman in the army who considers herself a monster with one of the most immature guys in the army who can turn into a monster.

Some key details for my Ultimate Childcare Giver Komaru AU is that if she were put in a Killing Game and had her memories of her time at Hope’s Peak erased (like what happened to the other casts) then she’d still remember her friendship with Toko, as well as meeting the Warriors of Hope, since both these things happened before she became a student.

In terms of timeline, Junko doesn’t enact her plan until the end of her class’s second year at Hope’s Peak, which means Komaru spent a year at Hope’s Peak before Junko started problems.

A Couple More Age Swaps for my AU

Kana

Age: 20

Class: Nohr Prince/Princess

The oldest member of their generation. A source of kindness and wisdom for their peers, and a force of nature to their enemies. Still absolutely adores their parents.

Is AroAce because yes.

Shigure

Age: 14

Class: Sky Knight

The youngest member of his generation. Loves to ride on the back of his Pegasus, and is incredibly shy. More innocent than his original counterpart, but still has trauma from losing his friends and caretakers.

Shiro

Age: 14

Class: Spear Fighter

Shiro is actually raised by Sakura and Hana in this AU, with Ryoma being a surrogate father. Shiro loves his moms, but he’s still not entirely sure how to feel about his uncle(? Dad???) He picked up a Lance, not to beat either of his moms, but so they could become a perfect type triangle team. (Sakura: Green, Hana: Red, Shiro: Blue)

He’ll still be the one to inherit the Raijinto.

(Sakura will give the Fujin Yumi to her nephew, Kiragi)

Siegbert

Age: 14

Class: Cavalier

Similar to Shiro, Siegbert is Elise and Effie’s son, with Xander being a surrogate father. To Siegbert, it doesn’t matter who’s blood it is specifically that runs through his veins, he loves his moms and his uncle Xander.

He was admittedly a little upset at first when his absolute lack of an aptitude for magic was revealed, but his family supported him regardless, so he picked up a sword and became a Cavalier.

(He’ll one day inherit Siegfried, while Elise passes Brynhildr to her nephew, Forrest)

Midori

Age: 19

Class: Herb Merchant

Midori’s a lot less innocent in this world, having an entire 5 years on her original self. Even so she still retains her kind heart, and her medicinal skills are even more impressive. Her concoctions are still gross to look at though.

Percy

Age: 19

Class: Wyvern Rider

This Percy might be older, but he’s still the biggest dork, aspiring to be a superhero like his father. He still got angry and ran off like his original self, but instead of convincing a band of mercenaries to attack the group, it was the actual bandit band that the mercenaries were looking for that attacked. He’s also gotten really good at how to take advantage of his insane luck.

can I hear more about the AM you are making? I saw you put an ask about it for avj and holy crap it sounds amazing! anything else you are willing or able to share?

I’m glad you asked! I’d love to share about DreamShift!

It’s inspired by the concept of swapping the roles and personalities of different Sanses, like in DreamSwap, SwapDream, etc etc, but instead applied the StoryShift twist, where characters shift roles and they retain the majority of their original personality.

The Sanses, and the order they were Shifted, are as follows: Geno - Dream - Error - Fell - Cross - Reaper - Nightmare - Ink - Fresh - Swap.

They create this lovely cast of personalities:

Dream!Geno (Life): a Geno that never got turned into Error, travels the multiverse to protect the lives of AU inhabitants. Has become a leader of his Multiverse’s equivalent to the Star Sanses (they’re not gonna call themselves that)

Nightmare!Reaper (Death): a Reaper that went mad and now goes from AU to AU to kill its inhabitants so he can “make all the noise stop.” Has a few followers, all of which are mass murderers in their own right.

Error!Dream (Hope): a Dream that got trapped in the Antivoid after a fight with Nightmare. He escaped before being completely Errorified, but his mind was still damaged by the experience. Travels to and destroys negative AUs, and has a savior/god complex. Used his powers to manipulate some inhabitants of the Omega Timeline to serve him before being banned by Core Frisk. (His eye sockets sometimes glitch out if he gets too emotional)

Ink!Nightmare (Despair): a Nightmare that got trapped in the void after a battle with Dream and wasn’t able to access negative emotions for a long time, becoming incredibly weakened. Eventually escaped and landed in HorrorTale, and was taken in by the HorrorTale skeleton brothers. Now protects negative AUs from Hope and uses HT as a home base of sorts.

Fell!Error (Error): a post True Pacifist Fell that got Errorified. He escaped but not before his Frisk Reset and a replacement of him was created. There was some confusion but he was welcomed to stay. He avoids multiversal conflicts and only cares about protecting UnderFell.

Fresh!Ink (Fresh/Freak): An Ink that got possessed by the Fresh parasite. It’s Fresh but more dangerous. His outfit in this multiverse is based off of Ink’s redesign rather than his classic look.

Cross!Fell (Flower): a FlowerFell Sans who absorbed the soul of his Frisk after monsterkind was freed from the underground and she perished. Now travels between AUs and works closely with Life.

Swap!Fresh (Blank): the last Fresh host before the parasite jumped to Ink. The only host to not become brain dead from being used as a host. Aimlessly wandered for a bit before being taken in by Life. Wants to save Ink.

Reaper!Cross (Black): was found in his dead and broken AU by Death and was taken in. Now works for the corrupted god. Abandoned his old jacket and cape(?) for a large black cloak. Still wants to find a way to bring back his AU. (His scar is under his left eye in this AU)

Geno!Swap (White): (based primarily off of @skesgo’s Reset!Blue) A Swap Sans who’s world was irrevocably damaged by his Chara’s countless Resets. The experience even turned his clothes black and white. Wears his brother’s jacket, the only part of his clothing with any color left, as a waist cape. Was rescued by and now works for Life. His right eye socket is a little cracked, but still functional.

Life, Death, Hope, and Despair create what I refer to as “The Big 4.” Basically the quartet of the most influential characters in the multiverse. We have a guardian and a destroyer who care about the AU more than the inhabitants: the roles of Ink and Error, and we have a guardian and destroyer who care more about the inhabitants than the AU: the roles of Dream and Nightmare. Despair, Hope, Life, and Death each fill one of those roles.

Freak took Ink’s body because he figured it was his best option for a host body that would be the most difficult to kill. Also his main weapons are Spray Paint Cans that can either shoot paint or be used like grenades. He keeps them in a Fanny pack that functions like a bag of holding.
