If anyone who is fluent in Arabic can better translate Bayan's thoughts to us, I will gladly repost it, here is what the automated translation stated: "I escaped with the lives of the rest of my family and we left the Shifa hospital area towards the East [hashtag# is in Arabic, but the automatic translation did not translate] under occupation fire yesterday."
"My parents held their only son between their arms and watched him die. Israel murdered both their son and their hearts."
Risking her life, journalist Bayan Abusultan documents Isr@el's assault on the areas surrounding Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, showing indiscriminate bombing of civilians, executions, torching homes by the invading Isr@eli army.
March 30. Video diaries by Bayan Abusultan in Al-Shifa Hospital: "Israeli forces invaded Alshifa hospital and its neighboring areas on March 18 causing nothing but death and destruction.
I live a block away from the hospital so I tried to document as much as possible before we - My family and neighbors- decided yesterday to run away from our wiped out neighborhood as tanks and warplanes were targeting us on the way.
I pray that once their invasion is over I will go back and find my house standing still, I’m not very optimistic though.
I lived to document and share these past two weeks with the world in hopes that it can make a deference.
Please take a minute to honor all those who lost their lives during israel’s brutal non-stop aggression on the Gaza Strip.
"I can’t remember what my life was like before this aggression on Gaza began, but I’ll never forget what my grandparents told me their lives were like before 1948."
-Bayan Abusultan
Bayan wrote the following message on the 6th of November, 2023, at 7:20 PM:
When I go silent for long, it either means that I got no internet connection, that my battery died, or that I died.
My full name is: Bayan Abusultan
And I live in western #Gaza City.
If you google me and find out I was killed, please take care of my books.
At 10:05 PM on November 6, 2023, Bayan posted and said:
Israeli forces just threw more than 20 flares on my street.
#Gaza
11:08 PM on the same day:
Israeli war planes are lighting the skies of western #Gaza tonight.
They have been throwing burning flares nonstop for the past hour on both Al-Shifa hospital area and Shatia’ refugee camp.
Usually they intensively bomb the area after throwing flares at it.
12:01 AM on November 7, 2023:
It’s been 2 hours of continuous flares being thrown at several areas in western #Gaza city.
Furthermore, Bayan also shared some videos that documented what is happening around her. I have compiled them for you in a single video with captions below:
Bayan was reporting from Northern Gaza, and she is the one the many Palestinian journalists I get updates from on Twitter. When I saw her message initially about what had happened to her brother days ago, I had this terrible feeling that the IOF had done something, and right up to this moment I hope that is not the case and we hear news from her soon. This is beyond horrific.
This has to stop. The IOF must be stopped.
Update! Bayan posted on Twitter/X on March 29th, 2024 -she said "I survived."
March 30, 2024. Palestinian journalist Bayan Abusultan, who disappeared last week following the IOF assault and siege on Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza, updates on her situation.
"My parents held their only son between their arms and watched him die.
I saw the notification on my phone earlier today and I was incredibly relieved to see her posting again. I will update about Bayan on the post I made about her the other day. I can only imagine what she has been through and has been going through. For people who are already following her and haven't already -please send her messages of love and support!!
Bayan Abusultan, March 12 2024- "Palestinian children protesting in Alshatia refugee camp in western Gaza City today.
The kids chanted: “We are hungry, we want to eat” as they walked a street close to the UN schools where they are seeking refuge with their families during the ongoing famine in northern #Gaza."
A little girl in Gaza carries a sign that reads “Give us our childhood,” as other children around her carry empty pots of food as drums chanting for food, March 12 2024.
