CHINESE 🇨🇳 // Our family dinner from Good Friends Roast Duck House @goodfriendsroastduckhouse in Spencer Village, Thornlie. Ordered the following: - Deep Fried N.Z Flounder with Chilli, Salt & Pepper $32.80 - Taro duck $25.80 - Crispy Almond Chicken with BBQ Sauce $23.80 - Home Made Tofu with Mushroom & Minced Chicken Sauce $18.80 - Peking Pork Ribs $18.80 - Roast Pork (small): $22 - Stir-fried Beef With Seasonal Vegetables $18.80 - Steamed jasmine rice $6.80/bucket - Tea $1 pp Highlights were the NZ flounder, taro duck and crispy almond chicken. The NZ flounder was crispy on the outside and deliciously soft on the inside - it isn’t boneless but the effort in picking out the bones is worth it. Taro duck was crispy and very fresh. Crispy almond chicken was delicious on its own and didn’t need the bbq sauce as the sauce was quite salty imo. This hole-in-the-wall restaurant had lots of takeaway orders and was pumping out dishes quite quickly too. Overall a good Chinese restaurant with reasonable prices. #GoodFriendsRoastDuckHouse #SpencerVillage #Thornlie #Perth #PerthChinese #TaroDuck #Flounder #PFR_Chinese #PFR_GoodFriendsRoastDuckHouse (at Good Friends Roast Duck House) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmQMZoxvJYU/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

There are many Chinese restaurants in Auckland, so many you feel like you live in Hong Kong or China. I think most of those Chinese restaurants we had tried but only reviewed some and only those worthy ones. Another one of those worthy Chinese eateries is the BBQ Duck Cafe located right smack in the centre of Auckland CBD. I had passed by this place many times as we always grab that nice chicken from Kai’s Eatery but never had a chance to eat at this place until now. I am not sure if this is the same place that was torn down in Queen St due to building demolition and if that’s the case this was not my first time here.
What makes this different from other Chinese restaurants is their Peking duck, I think that is why they named their place like such. Not only because its good but you can order Peking duck pancakes anytime which is not possible in most Chinese restaurants here in Auckland where you pre order them. So, if you are suddenly craving for it then this is your best place, what’s even better it is affordable.
Unlike other some Chinese restaurants here in Auckland, automatically they serve you tea in pots as well a free soup while ordering. Here they wait till you order before giving you some soup. Tea is not default so I guess you must ask them if you want some. Soup was straight forward, not as meaty as the ones in Golden Century restaurant but it was good.
Obviously, this review will involve Peking Duck (NZ$28.00 / half) and since there are only three of us we grabbed the half duck. The duck was good as expected, crispy skin, smoky fruity taste and meat was tender, it was served with the usual cucumber, carrot and spring onions with Hoisin Sauce and 10 pieces of pancakes. If there is one let down here it was the pancakes since it was more of a wrapper than pancake, but that’s the price of availability. This means it was thinner but still Ok, I just wished there were more than 10, perhaps 16 would be perfect because the amount of duck served was a lot.
We also grabbed some Deep-Fried Squid (NZ$5.00), another interesting dish as its quite different to how others do it. This one is heavily breaded and ultra-crunchy with yellow colour. Nothing wrong with this, I specially loved that crunch the extra batter gives.
Then we have Roast Pork & Tofu in Hot Pot (NZ$20.00), same thing as above where it was cooked differently to how I knew it. Regardless it was quite tasty, and the extra vegetables gave it some nice crunch. What’s good is that it does not taste like the usual Chinese dish where it is heavily flavoured by sesame oil, there was none in this dish.
And finally, since we are Filipinos, rice should be involved in any dining scenario hence we grabbed some Yang Chow Fried Rice (NZ$13.50), another tasty treat filled with lots of shrimps and tiny pieces of barbecue pork, this alone is a meal on this own and it was good for two.
Overall food here was quite different from other Chinese restaurants in Auckland, like I said it does not taste like sesame oil. I love it, it was a good change, so if you are sick and tired of the usual Chinese stir fried taste, give this place a shot, it will give you a different perspective in Chinese dishes. Service was good, place was clean and for an Auckland CBD establishment this is quite affordable.

New Post has been published on https://travelonlinetips.com/9-of-the-best-townsville-restaurants-and-cafes-you-need-to-try/
9 of the best Townsville restaurants and cafes you need to try
Something happened to Townsville while you weren’t looking. A serious foodie revolution took over the streets, stealthily throwing up healthy new trends, dishing up international flavours, and stoking the fire of long-standing award winners.
With a veritable food bowl on one side of this city and ocean on the other, chefs here are harnessing the freshest seafood and tropical produce, infusing it all with the north’s unfussy attitude – propelling Townsville City into the upper echelon of food destinations in Queensland.
Hungry? Here are 9 of the best Townsville restaurants and cafes to try.
Donna Bionda
If you’re hungry like a hot-blooded Italian, make like this local and follow your nose to Donna Bionda in City Lane.
The atmosphere envelops you as soon as you pull up a stool in the laneway or slip into the dining room and, with hands wrapped around glasses of pinot noir and platters of fresh salumi and cheese laid out in front of you, you could just as well be in your favourite wine bar in Rome.
Everything on the menu – from the juicy slow-cooked lamb and piping hot pizzas pulled straight from the wood-fired oven, to the truffle-oiled risotto, handmade pasta and a classic tiramisu for dessert – is a harmony of robust flavours and delicate presentation. The service is swift and as warm as the heat emanating from the pizza oven.
Hot tip: Make a booking, especially if you’re heading to Donna Bionda on a Tuesday when their 2-4-1 pizza deal has locals flocking like seagulls to a hot chip from 5pm.
JAM
When a dish has been on the menu for seven years, you’d be a fool not to order it so start your day the tropical Townsville way with the Asian chicken omelette at JAM, made with Saddle Mountain eggs and loaded with snow pea, bean shoot, fried shallots and chilli jam.
Everything on the seasonal breakfast menu at JAM provides a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. Popping with textures and colours a la charcoal sourdough toast and dragon fruit sorbet smoothie, this is a menu made for the ‘gram.
But come back for lunch or dinner and you’ll be treated to an entirely new experience. Think chicken roulade with harissa chickpea crème or pork and ginger wontons with street chilli sauce, and kafir lime mousse for dessert.
Hot tip: Got a special occasion coming up? You can book JAM’s private dining room for up to 18 guests with to a 6-course degustation menu to feast on.
Longboard Bar & Grill
Water views + tacos + beers = a good time in anyone’s language.
Make a beeline for Longboard Bar & Grill for any occasion – from a quick lunch through to “just one beer” – and soak up the Hawaii-meets-Townsville vibes perched on The Strand with Magnetic Island just beyond your bowl of waffle fries (yes, waffle fries. Just order them and thank us later).
The menu dances between American south-west and Mexican, with the likes of braised beef nachos and thick and tangy BBQ chicken wings through to the appetite-obliterating 500gm chargrilled rib eye on the bone topped with chimichurri.
Hot tip: The Sunday Sessions are legendary here and you’ll absolutely need to book ahead.
Miss Song’s
The Ville Resort Casino has undergone a $40 million renovation, with not only a new waterfront pool and deck to take the resort vibes up a notch, but also the unveiling of one of Townsville’s best restaurants.
There may be sounds of the roulette wheel beckoning but keep your eyes on the (food) prize and walk through the fresh lobby to enter a world of Peking duck pancakes and dim sum in Miss Song’s.
This is a place to roll up your sleeves and get stuck into conversation with friends over baskets of steaming dumplings, crab meat and prawn curry fritters, and five-spice crispy pork belly. Keep the share plates coming but save room for the warm apple and ginger pudding for dessert.
Hot tip: Love seafood? Select your own live mud crab from the tank or opt for lobster steamed with ginger, shallot and light soy sauce.
CBar
Neighbouring Longboard Bar & Grill on The Strand, this Townsville institution is a #nobrainer when it comes to lunching al fresco and slipping into serious holiday mode.
It’s the kind of place you head to when you want something more than a pub feed but not so fancy that you’ll be wondering which set of cutlery to use first.
While you’ll find baguettes, burgers and haloumi chips on the menu here, if you’re a fan of seafood, there’s no better spot for some crispy-skinned Australian saltwater barramundi or calamari salad with coriander, garlic, chilli and lemongrass.
Hot tip: Order yourself a cold glass of rosé, sink back into your chair and clear your afternoon.
The Beet Bar
With a city as health-conscious as this one (count the gyms and protein supplement stores as you cruise the streets), you need plenty of (wholefood) fuel to stoke the fire.
Open for about three years, The Beet Bar has become the go-to for superfood bowls, smoothies and quick and healthy takeaway eats on Flinders Street.
Caffeine fiends, have no fear, there’s Organic Fairtrade Genovese Coffee if you like it hot and Mr Bean cold press coffee from Airlie Beach – steeped for 22 hours and tripled filtered – to go with the line-up of gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free raw cakes and slices. Their menu of CocoWhip sundaes will blow your connotations of vegan out of your almond milk.
Hot tip: Order a black detox bowl for a charcoal infused hit of acai… but maybe not if you’re on a first date.
Born Wild
Paleo, gluten-free, vegan… whichever dietary persuasion applies to you, Born Wild in City Lane has you covered.
This once exclusively-Paleo cafe turned more well-rounded caveman has you covered from acai bowls to lactose-free lattes, bone broth to fajitas, and you’ll even find beers in the fridge.
This isn’t just laissez faire attempt at paddock-to-plate either, if you grab Kymbo the owner he’ll tell you exactly which paddock the beef came from on his farm, Catumnal (which has been in the family for over 100 years).
Hot tip: Stop here to pick up ready-made meals for a pimped picnic and don’t forget the kombucha.
Rambutan
There are three indicators you’ll have a good time here: Rambutan is part of a ‘flashpackers’, there are swings at the bar, and the menu runs the gamut of food you’ll want two napkins to work with.
Mexican and Southern BBQ eats reigns supreme at this rooftop restaurant and smokehouse, set around the pool, where blue and white Parisian bistro chairs and vintage farmhouse tables look out over the action of Flinders Street.
Hot tip: You’ll want to try ALL the wings but our bets are on the Japanese BBQ variety, sprinkled with bonito.
Bridgewater Q Restaurant and Bridge Bar
Feast your eyes first on the supreme river views, then on the next-level menu experience at this super-stylish establishment from the mastermind behind JAM, chef Matt Merrin.
Townsville’s newest food opening boasts a splash of coastal elegance with a restaurant upstairs (more fanciful fare) and a bar downstairs (after-work drinks and nibbles sorted). Tuck into tuna and grapefruit salad with red chilli paste and goats cheese tortellini at the former, or duck spring rolls and charcoal salt and pepper calamari at the latter.
If you’re sticking around for dessert, Matt’s ingredient du jour is ruby chocolate, which he fuses into a delectable strawberry cheesecake.
Hot tip: Time your visit to watch the sunset over the river and you won’t be disappointed.
6 more Townsville restaurants worth checking out:
Shaw & Co – for eight different types of steak and mood lighting in City Lane (hello, date night!)
The Pier – perched over the water, this is the ideal spot to splurge on a seafood platter
A Touch of Salt – for casual fine dining and an exclusively vegan and vegetarian menu to boot
GYO – get hands-on with sukiyaki and shabu-shabu or order up from the Japanese tapas menu
Wild Goose Brews and Chews – two words: chicken schnitzel
The Palm House, The Ville – buffet-style feasting, but not as you know it
Have we left your favourite Townsville restaurants off the list? Tell us about them in the comments below.

Review: 12 Beers of Christmas Event at Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs!
On Sunday, Disney Food Blog had the opportunity to celebrate the 12 Beers of Christmas at Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs! This special, once-a-year event was hosted by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto himself.
Crooked Can Brewing Company Black Frost Schwarzbier
Guests made their way through 12 stations featuring local beers and Pan-Asian small bites. Ready to start planning your visit for next year’s event?
Overview
12 Beers of Christmas was held at the beautiful Morimoto Asia restaurant in The Landing neighborhood at Disney Springs, and the event ran from 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM.
Morimoto Asia
This was a very popular event, and guests started to line up around 11:00 AM. Upon entering, each guest was given a miniature 12 Beers of Christmas beer glass to use at each station throughout the event.
Morimoto Asia
Chef Morimoto’s new cookbook, Mastering the Art of Japanese Home Cooking, was available to purchase at the event, and proceeds went to Give Kids The World. The Iron Chef signed cookbooks and t-shirts, and as you can see, he brought plenty of holiday cheer.
Chef Masaharu Morimoto
Let’s get to the stations, shall we!?
Takoyaki
The Takoyaki station featured traditional-style Japanese octopus center.
Takoyaki Station
Along with octopus, Takoyaki fritters included tempura and pickled ginger. (Pssst: want to give Takoyaki a try? You can currently find it on the menu at Morimoto Street Food!)
Takoyaki
The beer pairing for this station was WinterWeizen from 3 Daughters Brewing, which is based in St. Pete, FL. WinterWeizen is a German-style specialty wheat beer that’s only available during the month of December.
3 Daughters Brewing
Yakitori
At the Yakitori station, we found Momo (dumplings), Tsukune (chicken meatballs), Teba (Japanese-style chicken wings), and Shishito (peppers).
Yakitori
The Tsukune was definitely the standout at this station! These chicken meatballs were tiny but had a ton of flavor and a really nice, crisp texture.
Crooked Can Brewing Company Black Frost Schwarzbier
The Yakitori was paired with Crooked Can Brewing Company Black Frost Schwarzbier. Crooked Can is based in Winter Garden, Florida.
Crooked Can Brewing Company Black Frost Schwarzbier
This was one of our favorite beers at the event, too! Black Frost was nice and smooth with a just hint of espresso.
Ramen
We were pretty excited for this one! The Duck Ramen was super flavorful and so nice for this time of year. If you’re not a fan of duck, though, it might not be for you.
Red Cypress Brewery Spook Hill Pale Ale and Duck Ramen
The accompanying beer was Spook Hill Pale Ale from Red Cypress Brewery in Winter Springs, Florida. Just like the Duck Ramen, Spook Hill Pale Ale also has tons of flavor. It’s an intensely citrusy, extra-hoppy IPA.
Red Cypress Brewery
Morimoto Spare Ribs
Said to be “the best ribs you’ll ever have” and “so tender the meat just falls off the bone,” we were excited to find Morimoto Spare Ribs at the next station.
Morimoto Spare Ribs
The ribs were indeed very tender, and Chef Morimoto’s sweet hoisin chili sauce gave the meat a lovely flavor that was sweet, salty, and just a little spicy.
Morimoto Spare Ribs
The Spare Ribs were paired with Morimoto Imperial Pilsner from Rogue Ales in Newport, Oregon. The representative from Rogue described Morimoto Imperial Pilsner as being smooth, having a slightly floral flavor, and pairing well with every dish served at 12 Beers of Christmas.
Note: the station signage lists the beer as Rogue Soba Ale, but we were served Rogue Morimoto Imperial Pilsner.
Rogue Morimoto Imperial Pilsner
Peking Duck
How gorgeous is this!? The Morimoto-style Peking Duck was presented with pancake, hoisin, and apricot chili.
Peking Duck
If you’re into the distinctive flavor of duck, you’ll love the juicy meat and crispy skin.
Peking Duck
The beer at this station was one of the event’s more unique offerings: Coffee Gold from Cask and Larder in Orlando, Florida. It was sharp, a bit bitter, and had a pronounced coffee flavor. If you’re a fan of beer and coffee, you might just love Coffee Gold.
Cask & Larder Coffee Gold
Trivia time: Cask and Larder belongs to the same family of restaurants as The Polite Pig at Disney Springs!
Tacos
Next, tacos! These weren’t just any tacos, though: they were tacos with a Pan-Asian twist!
Taco Station
The BBQ pork and kalbi (Korean BBQ beef) were just a little spicy, and it made for such a nice combination with the light, crisp taco shells.
Tacos
The beer? Seasonal Relief from Coppertail Brewing Co. in Tampa, Florida. It’s a Baltic Porter brewed with goji berries. You might taste a hint of chocolate, too!
Coppertail Brewing Co. Seasonal Relief
Yakisoba
If we had to pick a favorite station, Yakisoba would definitely be one of the top contenders.
Yakisoba Station
These noodles were not only delicious, but they had the perfect texture, too. The cabbage added a pleasant crunch.
Yakisoba
The Yakisoba came paired with another unusual-to-us beer: Green Tea IPA from Orange County Brewers in Orlando, Florida.
Orange County Brewers Green Tea IPA
The green tea notes and IPA flavors were both very strong, and this was one interesting beer! Green Tea IPA would be just as refreshing on a hot summer day as it was on this winter afternoon.
Orange County Brewers Green Tea IPA
Gyoza and Dimsum
The Gyoza and Dimsum station offered several varieties of dumplings filled with chicken, shrimp, and pork. Dimsum sauce and chili sauce were optional.
Gyoza and Dimsum
The accompanying beer came from Bowigens Brew Company in Casselberry, Florida. We bet you won’t forget its name: Punch Face Champion. The brewery described it as a “hoppy American wheat.”
Bowigens Brew Company Punch Face Champion
Okonomiyaki
Throughout the event, there was always a crowd at the Okonomiyaki station.
Okonomiyaki Station
Okonomiyaki are savory seafood pancakes. Don’t they look tempting!?
Okonomiyaki
The seafood pancakes were paired with Baird Beer Jubilation Ale. Baird Beer is based in Numazu, Japan. They describe Jubilation Ale as complex and figgy with a hint of cinnamon.
The Baird Beer booth also brought some delicious-sounding cherry wine, and the guests at 12 Beers of Christmas must have agreed, because it was all gone by the time we got there. We may or may not be a little sad about missing it.
Cherry Wine at the Baird Beer booth
Sushi
To complement flavors at the sushi station, Hourglass Brewing from Longwood, Florida, brought in their Saison du Sablier. Fermented in an oak barrel, Saison du Sablier is a dry, Belgian-style beer.
Sushi Station
The sushi station was undoubtedly the most popular station with the guests at 12 Beers of Christmas.
Assorted Nigiri and Maki
Assorted varieties of nigiri and maki were presented beautifully.
Assorted Nigiri and Maki
Raw Bar
Meanwhile, at the Raw Bar, we found oysters, shrimp cocktail, and ceviche.
Shrimp Cocktail
The foods at the raw bar were presented so artfully, and just like the sushi station, it was very popular with guests!
Shrimp Cocktail
For the beer pairing, Redlight Redlight from Orlando, Florida brought Dama en Gris.
Redlight Redlight Dama en Gris
Dama en Gris is a light, European-style beer (Grisette). The Redlight Redlight team described it as light and lemony, similar to a Saison.
Redlight Redlight Dama en Gris
Dessert
If we were picking favorites, the Dessert station would definitely be in the ranks!
Dessert Station
These miniature churros might just have been our favorite food from the entire day. They were warm with crisp, cinnamony exteriors and soft, pillowy interiors.
Mini Churros
The Miniature Chocolate Cream and Yuzu Desserts were just as delicious as they were adorable.
Mini Chocolate Cream
How cute is that!? So detailed! So tiny!
Mini Yuzu Dessert
Midnight Espresso from Motoworks Brewing in Bradenton, Florida was the beer pairing for the dessert station.
Motorworks Brewing Espresso Porter
The flavors of espresso and chocolate were strong without being overwhelming. We wouldn’t be able to drink a lot of this one, but it was a nice pick for the desserts.
Motorworks Brewing Espresso Porter
And that’s everything we tried at Morimoto Asia’s 12 Beers of Christmas!
Final Thoughts
Should you make an effort to attend Morimoto Asia’s 12 Beers of Christmas next year? If you’re really into beer – especially uncommon beers from local craft breweries – it’s probably something you’ll enjoy. Similarly, if you’re a fan of Chef Morimoto or Pan-Asian cuisine, it’s a great opportunity to try a variety of small bites and to experience the restaurant’s gorgeous interiors.
Kitchen at Morimoto Asia
Tickets were $55, and guests were not limited in the number of times they could visit each booth. That’s right – if there’s something you love, you can have it more than once! Keep in mind, though, that some of the more popular booths did run out of some foods and drinks. If there’s something you absolutely have to have, hit that booth first.
Morimoto Asia
Tables and seating were limited at 12 Beers of Christmas, and it got a little challenging to maneuver our beer glass, our food, and our utensils. Also, lines got long — it was a little stressful! We recommend going with a small group of friends, arriving early, and grabbing a table. That way, you can rotate having one person at the table while the others visit booths, and you’ll never have to worry about having a place to set your beer or your food.
View from Morimoto Asia
12 Beers of Christmas is an adults-only event, and you must be 21 or older to attend. If you’re looking for a family-friendly outing at Disney Springs, this isn’t it, BUT there are plenty of other great options for you. Check out the Christmas Tree Trail or Breakfast with Santa at T-Rex Restaurant for some festive fun!
Missed 12 Beers of Christmas, but you’re still curious about some of the beers? You’re in luck, because several of them are on the Morimoto Asia menu this December! And if you’d rather skip the tasting events and just have a special dinner, check out our Morimoto Asia review right here.
In short: beer enthusiasts, 12 Beers of Christmas is the perfect event for you.

TOP asian restaurants in Toronto in 2017
The very best Chinese restaurants in Toronto represent just a portion of the diverse variety of regional offerings available here. And though many would argue you have to attend Richmond and Markham Hill to get the real deal, Scarborough, our downtown Chinatowns and areas in between still have their share of victor.
Rol San
This late night Chinatown favourite is definitely jam packed with those who can not get enough of their classics like ho buff noodles and spicy ginger beef. And of course, it's an incredibly popular all-day dim sum.
Congee Wong (Finch and Leslie)
For my money my favourite one is the North York location, although there are a lot of Congee Wongs near that it can make your head spin. Certainly it could get crowded during mealtimes, but at least it late, as well as their Cantonese Chow Mein Fried Chili Turnip Patties never fails to make me grin.
Taste of China
The incredibly clumsy name doesn’t detract in the fact that Taste of China is, for many, a taste of superiority. Popular among the late night crowd for sizzling seafood on skillets and its outstanding General Tao Chicken, it’s one of these places that when you’re in downtown Chinatown, you just need to go.
Luckee
This upscale eatery from Susur Lee inside the Soho Met features all-day dim sum, sweet-delectable Wuxi spare ribs and fancy cocktails, all served under the glow of some garish quasi- lightings and stereotypical Chinese ornamentation.
Sam Woo BBQ
This Scarborough mainstay continues to be meeting old-school Cantonese BBQ pork enthusiasts for over twenty years. Tender and absolutely crispy roast pork skin BBQ pork meat blended with old school unfussy décor makes for an awesome meal.
Azerbaijan restaurant
Qin Tang Taste
Home to the chewy that is awesomely biang biang noodles as well as other Shanxi specialties, this little Scarborough restaurant is truly the first Toronto place of a sizeable Beijing-based chain. My personal favourite? The Shanxi Sliced Noodle with Stir-Fried Pork Pieces. Delightful dish, long name.
House of Gourmet
This restaurant near Dundas and Spadina seems lowly from the exterior but is a constant hub of activity, with superior dishes like claypot tofus and satay beef noodles. It even has a BBQ joint that is devoted takeout, perfect for those nights when you merely want to feast on pork or duck on your sofa.
Asian Legend
By far the greatest mainstay Chinese restaurant chain in Toronto, this restaurant is the spot to really go when you’re searching for a wide number of genuine Chinese offerings. I’m a huge fan of their Peking duck, along with the soup dumplings here are always on my order list.
Hong Shing Chinese Restaurant
The longstanding association near City Hall could be somewhat oily however they make an oh-so-pleasing Sizzling Chili Chicken and General Tao Chicken. Wash it all down with cocktails with names just like the Stormy Night in Hong Kong.

February 2020 St. Oner’s $ $ $ $ Bar Food ,  Chinese  in  Fishtown $$$$ 2213 Frankford Ave
You probably already know about Tired Hands - a brewery based out of Ardmore - because of their popular frothy milkshake IPAs, or because you’ve been to their seasonal beer garden in Fishtown. Right across the street from Tired Hands Biergarten is St. Oners, their tiny new bar and restaurant with a full menu of dishes like salt and pepper wings to big bowls of rice and noodle plates.
Fiorella $$$$ 817 Christian St
The people behind Vetri have opened a new spot in the Italian Village. Fiorella is a tiny pasta bar with only 16 seats, and it’s all walk-ins - so you’ll have to wait if you want to get in. The entire menu is just four pastas, three salads, and wines by the glass.
Dim Sum House $$$$ 1930 Chestnut Street
One of our favorite dim sum spots in West Philly just added a new location in Rittenhouse. Dim Sum House will serve a similar menu to their first location, with things like soup dumplings and Peking duck. There will also be a few new items, including honey vinegar spare ribs and stir fry brussels sprouts.
 Casa Mexico $ $ $ $ Mexican  in  Italian Market $$$$ 1134 South 9th Street
Casa Mexico, a new spot in the Italian Market from the people behind South Philly Barbacoa, is serving both lunch and dinner daily (except for Wednesdays). The menu is short and changes every day, but expect affordable, large plates of things like tacos, enchiladas, and pescado veracruz.
 Renata’s Kitchen & Bar $$$$ 3940 Baltimore Ave
The new Renata’s Kitchen, a Mediterranean breakfast and lunch spot in West Philly, just took over the old Trolley Car Station Diner space. The new one is much bigger, and in addition to breakfast and lunch service, they will start serving dinner when they get a liquor license.
 Michael Persico Laser Wolf $ $ $ $ Middle Eastern  in  Kensington $$$$ 1301 N Howard St
Every dinner at Laser Wolf, the new Israeli grill in Kensington from the team behind Zahav, includes around a dozen vegetable-based salads as well as pita and hummus. The only decision you have to make is what type of grilled meat skewers you’d like - choose from lamb merguez, beef kebabs, or even chicken shishlik in a guava marinade. The space is casual and looks kind of like an open-air market, with colorful tablecloths, string lights, and big tables to fit you and all your friends.
 Human Robot $$$$ 1710 N 5th St
When Poe’s (a Fishtown sandwich shop) closed in 2019, we weren’t sure if they were coming back at all. But they did, and their new home is located in a Kensington brewery called Human Robot. Right now, the huge space has five beers on tap, as well as local ciders, wine, and a natural seltzer that you can add your flavor of choice to. Of course, Poe’s signature fully-loaded sandwiches, plus a few other snacks like fries and burgers, are available as well.
Fabrika $$$$ 1108 Frankford Ave
Fabrika is part restaurant and part cabaret, with a giant, hydraulic stage where aerialists, contortionists, dancers, and musicians perfrom. In terms of food, the menu’s Mediterranean, with the people behind Kanella Grill overseeing everything.
