Happy Transgender Day of Visibility!
This baby snake doesn't know what gender is, but I do. To all our trans, non-binary, and genderqueer friends: we see you, we value you, we support you unconditionally!

At long last, Sneggwatch 2023 is coming to a close with BDJB23B as our grand finale!
This first little sprout is 95% eyeball.

The babies from BDJB23B, a double clutch from Best Donut, are all out.
Sadly, the fifth little one was able to pip but didn't make it further than that. They were utterly tiny and a bit underdeveloped and severely kinked. #4 is also kinked and the tip of their umbilicus is still hanging out. I'm hoping for a good outcome, but ready for a poor one.
I dropped the incubation temperature (around halfway through) for these babies to 80 °F and they stayed in the egg for 68 days where the first clutch hatched in 62 days at 84 °F. I'm noticing more developed spots on these kids, where their first clutch siblings didn't even start to get spots until their neonate shed. Is this temperature related, or a time served in the egg situation?
I do not know!

Hey! On my bingo card it has BJBD23 and BJBD23b. Are those both supposed to be BDJB23 or are they dif pairings?
Oh good question! Thank you for reaching out to clarify.
Okay so BDJB23 is the first clutch that Best Donut laid back in June, and BDJB23b is a second clutch that she just laid about a week ago. Same parents, different clutch of eggs.
It's not super uncommon for corn snakes to "double clutch" if they have sufficient resources. I tend to designate the second clutch with a B at the end of the clutch ID for my own ease of records keeping.
Sorry if anybody got confused by that! I should have made it more clear on the card.
