Kenyataannya, banyak menganggap ungkapan ini sebagai ilusi, dimana hari-hari dari kemajuan Negara hanya dilihat dari kehebatan politiknya. Ketika Dunia mengagungkan demokrasi, ia pun menjadi pak turut mengikuti, yang lebih anehnya ia kehilangan pijakan sebagai seorang muslim. Ada pula yang mencerca dan tak ingin mengambil hikmah dari system yang berlaku, menganggapnya harus diruntuhkan sama sekali, kembali lagi dari nol kehidupan Islam.

Ketika dunia mengagungkan Liberal, Sekular, Feminism ia mengangkat-angkat Islam, mengorek, membredeli, memotong-motong, memberi label agar sesuai. Ketika dunia menyatakan bahwa golongan yang berbeda dari system mereka adalah Teroris, maka ia pun ikut-ikutan sikut kiri kanan saudara seiman. Fenomena ini, tidak baru dirasakan umat Islam. Bijaknya seorang manusia, jika dapat melihat bagaimana muncul, berkembang, jatuh bangun nya peradaban manusia.

Kita harus banyak belajar dari Daulah Umayyah, bahwa perebutan kekuasaan, ketimpangan sosial ekonomi, lemahnya umat Islam adalah satu dari sekian banyak akibat dari ditinggalkannya kecintaan akan ilmu dan amal. Kita belajar dari Abbasiyah bahwa kedatangan pasukan Mongolia Tartar yang menghancurkan kota-kota dan perpustakaan terbesar Bait Al-Hikmah adalah hasil dari ditinggalkannya kecintaan akan ilmu, menjadikan kekuasaan sebagai tujuan, kedengkian dari sekte Ismailiyah Bathiniyah, Ibn Alaqami salah satu penganut Bathiniyah dan juga menteri dari Khalifah Abbasiyah sendiri yang menggerogoti kekuatan umat islam dari dalam dan turut mengundang kedatangan pasukan Tartar untuk menggulingkan Khalifah dan mengendalikan Abbasiyah di tangannya.

Kita belajar dari Daulah Umayyah di Andalusia, bahwa dalam perbedaan bangsa, kebudayaan, agama yang hidup di dalamnya, ia berhasil menciptakan kemajuan dan keadilan dengan pemimpin-pemimpin yang cinta akan ilmu dan amal terlihat dari perpustakaan terbesar di dunia kala itu Al-Umawiyah di Cordoba dan Az-zahra, hingga setiap pemimpinnya memiliki koleksi buku-buku pribadi sebanyak 100.000 koleksi. Sebagaimana yang dicontohkan oleh Abdurrahman An-Nashir, hakam dan Muhammad. Para pemimpin umat ini mendatangkan dan bekerjasama dengan para tokoh ulama, ilmuan, cendikiawan, ahli fikih serta mendengarkan nasihat dari mereka.

Jika ada yang menganggap cita-cita Peradaban dan kemajuan Negara sejatinya lahir melalui kecintaan Ilmu dan Amal hanyalah khayalan, mari kita ajak mereka melihat kembali, bagaimana sosok-sosok hebat membangun satu karya dalam ilmu dan amal. Fathimah Al-Fihri peletak landasan universitas yang memiliki lisensi pertama di dunia, di masa kecilnya dididik dengan ilmu, islam dan amal. Hingga mewakafkan hartanya untuk pendirian Universitas Qarawiyyin di Fes padahal masa itu terjadi ketegangan politik yang menyebabkannya terusir, darinya barat membangun system pertama untuk Oxford university. Ibn Haytham menemukan teori lensa ketika ia dipenjara dalam situasi politik yang kejam, Ibn Taimiyah tetap konsisten melahirkan karya dan memberi fatwa dari dalam penjara saat situasi fitnah yang besar. Dari karya dan peninggalan kumpulan tokoh inilah, dunia barat belajar hingga dapat berdiri gagah, sementara umat ini terperangah, mencontoh membabi buta tanpa mengetahui darimana barat berangkat.

Lalu darimana umat mendapatkan informasi tentang peradaban umat-umat terdahulu, jika tidak merujuk pada buku? Umat ini tidak membaca dunia, bahkan tidak membaca apa sebab ia dicipta. Seiring surutnya tradisi pengkajian ilmu pengetahuan dan lemahnya politik umat. Maka tak heran, jika banyak naskah-naskah Islam yang diangkut ke barat dan dikaji oleh para akademisi eropa. Manuskrip Islam lebih gencar dipelajari di perpustakaan Eropa seperti Universitas Strasbourg pemilik satu-satunya manuskrip Al-Ard Al-Khawarizmi, Biblioteca Nacional De Espana di Madrid, Bodleian Library Oxford, manuskrip Islam di British Library yang menyimpan 15 ribu karya manuskrip umat Islam. Dan pada kenyataannya manusjrip-manuskrip itu lebih terjaga di tangan mereka daripada di tengah umat muslim sendiri. Usia koleksi tersebut merentang dari abad ke-8 hingga abad ke-19.

Umat Islam sibuk mengedepankan asas-asas yang akan diterapkan dari atas, daripada mulai menerapkan pendidikan umat yang masih terbelakang dari dasarnya sendiri. Akibatnya, adanya lahan kosong di bagian akar rumput masyarakat muslim yang terbentuk dari keterbelakangan pendidikan Islam, kelemahan ekonomi, sikap acuh dari para cendikiawan muslim akan memancing datangnya penggarap lahan lain dari ideology kapitalis, komunis, ekstrem kanan dan kiri. Yang mana lambat laun ideology tersebut dapat menghimpun kekuatan dari kebodohan umat Islam.

Disana masih ada kekuatan yang belum terbangun, di kumpulan penggembala kecil tanpa buku, di barisan pemuda yang hanya duduk lalai mendengar demi ijazah, di kumpulan pendidik yang mengajar sekedar gaji bulanan. Di lautan pemuda organisasi yang tak mengerti dimana bagian organisasinya untuk Islam dan kemajuan. Semuanya membutuhkan panggilan bersatu dari manusia yang sadar dan bersabar dalam mencontohkan kecintaan akan Ilmu dan Amal.

Darío de Regoyos y Valdés (November 1, 1857 – October 29, 1913) was a Spanish painter. He was notable for contributing to "the renewal of modern Spanish painting". A student of Carlos de Haes at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in 1878 he studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts and in Brussels. He traveled extensively in the 1880s, accompanied by his friend, the painter Adolfo Guiard. He was a member of the art group L'Essor and a founding member of Les XX with the Belgian avant-garde scene. During these experiences he gained a significant influence from Impressionist and Neo-Impressionist painters. His works include El paseo de Alderdi Eder (1894), Penaas de Duranguesado, La Espana Negra:Victimas de la fiesta (1894), Mercado de Villarnaca de Oria (1909), Gallinero (1912 ) and Polluelos (1912). Though his work was not very popular during his lifetime, after his death, a tribute exhibition was devoted to him in the Biblioteca Nacional de España in Madrid. Collections of his art are held by the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya in Barcelona, Abelló Museum in Vallès Oriental, and the Carmen Thyssen Museum in Málaga.

Regoyos was born in Ribadesella, the son of Darío Regoyos Morenillo, an architect and assistant of Public Works. In his youth, he moved to Madrid, entering the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in 1878. He was a student of Belgian Carlos de Haes. Invited by friends Enrique Fernández Arbós and Isaac Albéniz, and following the advice of Haes, Regoyos visited Brussels in the following year. He studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts and lived in the Belgian capital for ten years, his patron being Edmond Picard who introduced him to the thriving art world in Brussels.

Between 1881 and 1893, he travelled between Belgium, the Netherlands, and Spain. In 1882, he travelled to Morocco and Spain with Théo van Rysselberghe and Frantz Charlet. In the 1880s, he made several trips to Paris, accompanied by his friend, painter Adolfo Guiard. During these experiences he gained a significant influence from Impressionist and Neo-Impressionist painters. He encouraged exhibitions, concerts and other cultural activities in order to develop modern art in Belgium. As such, he was a member of the art group L'Essor and a founding member of Les XX with the Belgian avant-garde scene. He mixed with painters such as Théo van Rysselberghe and Frantz Charlet, Pissarro, Seurat, and Signac. Regarding his 1912 oil on canvas, Le Poulailler ("The Henhouse"), José Ortega y Gasset said that Regoyos "seemed to kneel to paint a cabbage". He also painted several smoking locomotive paintings. In 1883, he accompanied several painters on a tour of Spain, settling in the country the following year. He married in Spain in 1895, but continued to make multiple trips out of the country.

Regoyos died of cancer in Barcelona in 1913. Though his work was not very popular during his lifetime, after his death, a tribute exhibition was devoted to him in the Biblioteca Nacional de España in Madrid. Collections of his art are held by the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya in Barcelona, Abelló Museum in Vallès Oriental, and the Carmen Thyssen Museum in Málaga. There are streets in Oviedo, Ribadesella, Bilbao, Irun, Azuqueca de Henares, and Cabezon de Pisuerga honoring his name. In 2008, a 0,43€ stamp was issued in Spain with his self-portrait.

Located in Sabina, Italy, Farfa Abbey is a Benedictine abbey that was highly active during the medieval period. Geographically located between Northern Europe and Southern Italy, Farfa’s central location meant that its involvement in the politics of the Carolingian, Ottonian, and Romanesque eras was inevitable. Throughout its centuries of social and political interactions, however, Farfa cultivated a rich cultural center. Like many of its contemporary buildings, its medieval remains span hundreds of years, with structures dating back to the eighth and ninth centuries.

In the eleventh century the church underwent a renovation, onto which it added, among other things, a campanile (bell tower). Inside the extant campanile, a resplendent fresco program encompasses all four walls from the base of the tower up approximately five stories. Of what remains, the northern wall is best preserved and details a scene of the Ascension. The Apostles are depicted below the fenestration, and Christ, rising to the heavens, is shown above it. The commissioning of this scene in the eleventh century emerged out of a spiritual and theological fascination with the moment of Christ’s ascent and appears to have especially captivated the monks of Farfa Abbey.

In addition to the campanile fresco, two surviving manuscripts also elucidate a fascination with this theophanic moment. The first is a codex containing the sermons of Pope Leo I, who implored his listeners to lift their eyes to heaven as the Apostles did at the Ascension. This movement becomes realized in the campanile, as any viewer would have had to look up a few stories to see the painted figure of Christ. The second is an illustrated manuscript produced at Farfa that contains a luminous image of the Ascension, whose composition mirrors that of the eleventh-century fresco.
