so a while ago I saw and reblogged this post. and I was like “yesss XXC lonely! ughhhhh they should at least hug” and then it kinda escalated into a big hug farewell party and then it got some big XueXiao/SongXueXiao shenanigans in the second half of this fic because I am who I am.

I hope you’ll enjoy this 9.8k nonsense aka my personal addition to “Xiao Xingchen is touch starved” and “Xiao Xingchen is desperate to have friends” agendas

To repeat the warnings from the tags: some mild dub-con because  Xue Yang can’t behave. I went back and forth on whether what happens deserves that warning or not, but this fic might seem like it’s nice and sweet and I don’t want to unpleasantly surprise anyone, so keep it in mind that once we’ll get to XueXiao hug things will get a little messy (like everything where Xue Yang is involved lol) and I realize that Xiao Xingchen’s reaction might seem somewhat ambiguous (tho he’s mostly very confused). And some mild violence and blood (lots of blood!) because Xue Yang and Song Lan are in too close proximity to each other for this whole thing to end peacefully xD

In the fic Wei Wuxian calls Xiao Xingchen xiao-shishu which means “little sect uncle” and it’s indeed a pun.

i’m too tired today to repost my fic... i didn’t have time for this in the afternoon because i watched ski flying championships and now i’m tired because i didn’t sleep much in the night (i had an emotional meltdown last night due to the whole date fuck up... and my brain screams at me that i’m a failure... i fail at my life, i even fail at my hobbies... it’s not really helping. how can i uninstall emotions?)

i figured out that the wrong date was the date i created the draft. but i’ve always created the draft earlier and slowly filled it over the days and it was never a problem? idk....... so now i just have to do everything at once, i can’t just do it bit by bit if i wanna avoid the wrong date thing again... i’m so done

and there’s this thing with the spaces ao3 adds after cursive text... so i either have to go through the whole thing and delete that manually or finally figure out that google doc script and i don’t have energy for either.... (i never used that script because i always do a final re-read on ao3 anyway, because it’s easier to spot errors in different text formatting)

honestly i kinda want to cry... maybe i need a break. i was so happy that i’ve managed to finish the fic before the ski flying championships and just watch them in peace... honestly idk if i’ll post it in the weekend or after because in the weekends i watch the competitions and i spend a lot of time in my other winter sports fandom... maybe i’ll manage to post it in the weekend but i don’t wanna make promises........

I started writing new xuexiao fic featuring Xiao Xingchen and his nightmares and Xue Yang being a loving (and terrible*) boyfriend

Just a bad dream. He was safe. He wasn’t alone.

“Chengmei?”

“Yes, that would be me,” said Chengmei and laughed. “Did you expect to find somebody else here?” he asked, but light-heartedly, no bite in his tone. 

Still, Xiao Xingchen shook his head, feeling the need to answer. “I wasn’t expecting anyone to be here,” he said quietly.

He realized how tightly he clung to Chengmei and loosened his grip. It was probably hard to breathe for his dearest friend. Yet he never complained when Xiao Xingchen held onto him like a lifeline, even though Xiao Xingchen suspected sometimes it had to hurt. He also never complained about getting woken up by Xiao Xingchen’s nightmares, which surely had to be tiring for him too. 

awwwwww Xue Yang... I mean, Chengmei is a real sweetheart, isn’t he? (he isn’t, if you read my headcanons about Xiao Xingchen’s nightmares then you know he definitely isn’t)

*of course Xiao Xingchen doesn’t know how terrible he is, because he doesn’t know his friend’s true identity

ok, so I have exactly 5 fics posted on my AO3 but I’ll have to cheat a little and talk about my wips because I can’t remember what music I listened to during writing the first two fics that I posted (The Dreams In Which I'm Dying Are The Best I've Ever Had and The Great Cat Fight Of The Wizards) and no song I can associate with them (I know the first one of those has a title from Tears For Fears song but it doesn’t count, I chose the title later, the song wasn’t inspiration, just that lyric was very fitting for the title)

1. Fate Up Against Your Will (MCU)

it’s a sequel to The Dreams In Which I'm Dying Are The Best I've Ever Had and with this one I remember that, at least while working on some parts of it, I had Skeleton Tree album by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds on the loop, to get myself into the right mood (as you can see, it wasn’t a very happy fic)

2. tea for two (The Untamed)

I will forever associate All Within My Hands from Metallica’s concert album with San Francisco Symphony with this fic, because it was released last summer when I was working hard on finishing this fic and listened to this song a lot. it had a good unsettling mood? and it somehow clicked.

3. don’t forget about me (The Untamed)

for sure Simple Mind’s Don’t You (Forget About Me) because every time I read this particular Xue Yang’s line it immediately starts playing in my head so I just went with it xD (it’s a xuexiao song, don’t at me) also I listened a lot to My Honest Face and When It Brakes by Inhaler

4. I feel rougher than a disco lizard tongue along your cheek (MCU, WIP)

it’s the fic that probably fits the rules of this meme the most (except for the fact that I never finished it acutally). it’s a Loki/Grandmaster WIP that was heavily inspired by Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino album by Arcitc Monkeys (this album has very strong Frostmaster vibes ok?), I had it on the loop while writing the fic and the title is taken from Science Fiction song from this album, also the chapter titles are from other songs and I remember that even some parts of lyrics were rephrased as parts of the dialogue or narration. many scenes were heavily inspired by the songs and what was supposed to be just a relatively short one-shot about Grandmaster doing Loki’s make-up (it’s not as nice as it seems hehe) kinda started growing into this big mutli-chaptered monster that was basically “let’s write very trope I want to write with this paring” and “Grandmaster fucks a lot with Loki’s mind and sanity” and it was from Grandmaster’s POV and deliciously creepy and it reached over 40k before I got lost and didn’t know what I’m doing anymore and got stuck. and I never really worked on it since. (also I’m gonna count The Dumplings album Raj as an inspiration too, at least for one of the chapters, especially song Deszcz)

5. the XueXiao fic about Xiao Xingchen having nightmares (The Untamed, WIP)

I listened a lot to songs from the soundtrack for The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross to get myself in the unsettling and sad mood (mainly Please Take Your Hand Away and Under the Midnight Sun) and I need to get my ass to finally finish this fic hsfgjksdhgf the WIP is what the title says: Xiao Xingchen has nightmares and Xue Yang comforts him after he wakes up (it has three chapters, every chapter featuring a different nightmare)

Xiao Xingchen’s hands froze on his thigh. “I’m sorry, it’s necessary for me to touch you if I’m to treat your wounds.”

“I never said I don’t want you to.”

Xiao Xingchen smiled sheepishly and shook his head.

“Pervert,” snarled a high-pitched girlish voice coming from the other side of the room.

xue yang is like two steps away from death but doesn’t waste his chance to flirt (also he’s rather unfazed by all his grave injuries)

so I was doing research on maggots for a fic (mainly wanted to know how quickly they hatch on corpses) and stumbled upon the wiki article about a cheese called casu martzu that has living maggots in it on purpose (but these are like specific cheese maggots which are different from the maggots that feed on corpses... if it makes it any better???)

anyway, I’m reading and there’s this part:

so a while ago I reblogged this post and I was like “ahhhhh yes Xiao Xingchen lonely! he deserved to be friends with Wei Wuxian! ughhh they should at least hug!” because Xiao Xingchen is severely touch starved and deserves at least a hug! and that idea started living rent free in my brain and bubbled and bubbled and somehow escalated into big hug farewell party and everybody gets a hug!!! (except for LWJ and SL because they don’t like to be touched) (yes of course that includes Gremlin. I am who I am. how dare you expect any different from me. I loved this idea mainly for WeiXiao hug and XueXiao hug)

so last weekend I started writing this nonsense and now it’s almost 4k long and I guess I needed something more lighthearted to write as a break from my XXC has nightmares fic. because while it’s terribly fun to write it also requires hard work with some heavy feelings and sometimes just feels like disemboweling myself.

and if you’re wondering how is Xiao Xingchen doing on his quest to get new! friends! I think he’s doing pretty great:

[the context is that Xiao Xingchen dropped his horsetail whisk to hug Wei Wuxian and almost forgot to pick it up]

“Zichen keeps telling me that one day I’m gonna lose my horsetail whisk or my sword. But it’s not true. I always remember where I drop them.”

“I think he might be more concerned about somebody stealing them,” said Wei Wuxian. 

“Why would somebody steal them? Spiritual weapons are such personal things, my sword would be useless for a thief. Shuanghua doesn’t unsheathe for any random stranger, only for me and my friends. So my Teacher Baoshan can use it, all my sisters and brothers from the mountain. And Zichen, of course. And…” He smiled softly at Wei Wuxian. “I’m sure Shuanghua would also unsheathe for you.”

So I wrote that and I realized that it just sounds like a really bad pick up line except that XXC is not trying to drag WWX into bed but into friendship. that’s platonic flirting. (it’s incredibly effective btw)

my “winter in yi city” headcanon got a lot of new likes and reblogs today (yay!) and as always I’m reading the tags (srsly bless you all who leave little comments in the tags on my posts hfgsjdhf they give me life) and people say stuff like “awwww it’s so cute” “awwww good fluff”

and I always thought that fluff isn’t really something that I can write and I didn’t really think of this headcanon as fluffy... but I guess you guys are right

but also I’m cackling because in this short “fluffy” ficlet headcanon the word “fuck” (in all its different versions) appears 20 times (I counted! xD) and there’s also a “shithead” and 2 two mentions of murder (an urge to do so) hgfkjhsdgjfhs

and this, my dudes, is how you write the motherfucking fluff!

so I was rereading the beginning of my xuexiao terrible tea party fic:

It was a warm, peaceful afternoon. A perfect time for tea.

Xue Yang set a teapot and two cups on a makeshift table. Today he would serve Xiao Xingchen his absolute special: the tea infused with a dead man's tongue.

It seemed like an ideal way to end this very pleasant day that Xue Yang had started with some nice bloody murder

and I just can’t stop giggling now

there's quite a big chance that i will (finally) post my big hug farewell party fanfic sometime this week. i just want to post it already and be done with it before i will start to hate it and also because i wanna be freeeee (and finally catch up on all these fics and longer metas in my reading queue that i had no time nor brainspace to read shgfhsjdgkfj)

but i'm skeert because it has so many characters i'm writing for the first time and idk if i did them justice hgfjhsdgkjfh

i am actually much more content with the second half of this fic which is focused on songxuexiao but that's probably mainly because i already have some experience in writing these characters (even tho i realized that it's actually my first time writing song lan, but it doesn't feel that way at all because i've spent so much time headcanoning him as a part of the terrible threesome that he feels very familiar)

but to get to that half the readers need to go through the first half and i'm afraid everyone will nope out. and i’m afraid the second half isn’t really any better hsgfshdgfjshd

In the novel Xue Yang makes tongue tea and serves it to Jiggy and it gave me an idea for this horrible fic and I couldn't stop myself from writing about Xue Yang making a nice tea party for his Daozhang. And wow I didn’t expect to write a fic for this fandom like ever because it’s a new fandom and I didn’t feel like I can write for it properly but this idea was apparently stronger than all my anxieties and here you go, enjoy this horrible tea party.

(also, now every time I make tea I automatically think “I’m glad there are no human tongues in there” and this is the world I live in now and I have nobody to blame but myself)

but starting another wip doesn’t seem like a right way to finish something
