Honestly, get this out of the Molly tag. It's incredibly rude. Your frustrations are valid, but execution is not. Let people have their fun with a character they enjoyed. I love Cad personally and think he is one of the best things that happened to the M9. Content of either character doesn't reduce the other's worth?? And re: bringing Molly up when he's already dead, the cast already does that for us? They also have so many instances mentioning Molly post-death.

The cast put out a Molly T-shirt recently. They are coming out with a M9 artbook in the fall which WOWZA will have Molly art. Things like this keep a character alive and thus fans keep celebrating them. You trying to crap on that is really uncool. Also, about the "Molly would have reacted to this like BLANK" thing being annoying... Ever heard of an AU? They're pretty common in fandom from what I've seen. It's just harmless fun that you view as annoying.

@bookwormguri Alright you’re like. Completely missing the point of my post by miles. It’s astounding. Let’s go through everything you said: “Let people have their fun with a character they enjoyed” does my post say anything about people not being able to have fun with Molly? Does it say anything about how people shouldn’t draw Molly? Does it say anything about how people can’t be allowed to like him? Nope! Try re-reading it again. “Bringing Molly up when he’s already dead” yes, the cast can bring him up in the context of Oh, Molly, [tears]. Like Calianna’s letter, for instance. She left a present for Mollymauk in it. They can’t just skip over it? That isn’t how it works in the slightest. They can’t just ignore he was ever a member of their group. Yeah, they can keep bringing him up because he was a member of the Mighty Nein that died. My concerns are with the fandom bringing Molly in for every bit of character growth, most recently Yasha being pulled to Obon and Fjord throwing away his sword. There were numerous posts concerning What Would Mollymauk Do, how he would feel, ect ect which fine you can have fun with AUs, but this has been an ongoing issue since he died of WWMD. He can’t do anything, he’s dead in a literal ditch. The current character’s growth is not at all dependent on Mollymauk nor do they owe it to him.  “It’s just harmless fun that you view at annoying” Re: the point above this one. Did I say in my post it’s annoying? No. Did I say people have to completely wipe Mollymauk from their heads? No. I’m pointing out the fact a large part of the fandom is in denial about his death. If you take offense to this (which you clearly seem to), then maybe re-evaluate your priorities of the characters.

Those teams look good! It's awesome that you have some healers for Bash and Shot where they are kinda rare. Shot Van will be a challenge... But if you can get a natural board you can do it!

I ended up asking a friend to help me with the shot stage - I have Storm of Blades Rose for my shot type leader, so I asked them to set 3 bash units (2 Puddle Splasher Sophies and Eizen, with one of the Sophies as their leader) for me to help with the lack of LC and HP problem.  Worked like a charm, and Van got to eat (yet another) Aqua Limit to the face.  Don’t look at me like that I love reenacting the finale to that TalesFes 2015 live skit.

It’s kind of funny, my strong Bash and Shot units are largely the result of my “will whale for Zestiria and Leon” tendencies.  Puddle Splasher Sophie was part of the same summon that had Last Encounter Leon, Hilltop Spectator Jude was because I was trying for Enraptured Princess Alisha.  Shot’s always been my weakest type team-wise, but at least I have an MA finisher for them in the form of Armatus of Water Sorey.  Don’t look at me like that, yes I know I have that shot type Elize from the most recent SA but it’s Soymilk Armatus!

Also fun fact in case people are struggling with shot: the passive on the bows from this event can trigger off of a mystic/overlink/general arte trigger too, so make sure you’re linking your shot unit with those bows equipped last so you’re making the most out of your chance to heal!

well, chances are also that their opinion changed over time. It's an odd thing to happen but I think fan generated content can sway your opinion a lot and maybe they just didn't agree anymore? Personally, I still like your posts and agree with a lot of them (even if not all) and it's what makes reading them interesting. Don't let it get to you <3

I feel like with the rise of anti culture a lot of people are more sensitive to anything "negative" (even though your posts are more critical than anything). Perhaps they want to keep their fandom experience as drama free as possible. If that is the case, I don't exactly agree with burying ones head in the sand, but it is what it is. Just remember through that, that their reasons could have nothing to do with you and is all their own. I always look forward to your posts.

I’m a firm believer that people should be free to make their fandom experience as enjoyable as possible so it’s not like I can fault them for blocking me if it makes them feel better. The reason I even have a specific critical tag is so people can blacklist those posts away as they wish. 

It’s just upsetting that any time I find out someone blocked me is by trying to reblog their posts because I like them or agree with them *sigh*

I would like to humbly request Reconciliation please stop invading my subconcsious. Last night I had a dream about it. It was during the face-off in the house where Yashiro is dragging Satoru away. Satoru decides to try and trigger a revival by throwing himself on Yashiro's blade and just as he goes for it he sees the Revival butterfly and gets hopeful and then sees it burst into flames right as he stabs himself. Idk why, but that image stuck with me all morning. *sweats*

(ノ*°▽°*) I won’t say I’m not happy to hear you’re dreaming about Reconciliation!! You know, early on I did consider a forced Revival where Satoru killed himself during the confrontation scene. I still really like the idea of Satoru using his own life as a chip, because – could you imagine Yashiro’s fear and panic when he realizes that he’s so close to losing Satoru forever? To being alone again?

I love your YoI fic and was especially blown away by this new chapter. I have a writing question for you. My friend and I are collabing on a fic and one of my scenes is to write the main character having a panic attack, but I can't seem to get it right to my satsifaction. When I read your new chapter I thought, 'Yes. This is what it should be more like.' Do you have any advice from writing this kind of scene?

I think my advice would be to definitely focus on the reason behind the panic attack. That’s the most important part. So for Yuuri, I had it kind of build up through chapters 1-6 and then the conversation at the gala was sort of a trigger that let all of those emotions loose. A trigger isn’t necessary ofc but I think some sort of build-up / explanation of the problem definitely is!! That way it’ll be more understandable and realistic.

As for actually *writing* the scene I tried to get into his head and imagine what he would be feeling / acting like in that moment. So I used a lot of blocky, short sentences that would probably give any grammarian a heart attack :P

Also when describing the external/internal situation I tried to paint it all from Yuuri’s perspective instead of an objective one if that makes sense?? So like, overdramatizing the crowd & the noises & the attention he’s getting from everybody.

Honestly, blocking and blacklisting content you don't want to see is not that difficult. Considerably less effort than writing (and repeatedly defending) a lengthy screed about how other people's enjoyment of a thing is ruining yours.

If you haven't already beat Chaos for the ToZ event, but I think your problem is that you don't have at least one or two HP leads. With your Zestiria team + 2HP/ATK leads you should easily get over 100kHP. I suggest benching Xmas Rose to a sub position for her active heal. Using SA Arma Water Sorey for his tile change (and MA if your can). I assume you have his UR MA so you SHOULD be able to oneshot the boss with only a 35 LC tile change. Then find your best HP/ATK lead (1/?)

Your lead doesn't need to best Zesty. I use NY Sara and I still get nearly 160k HP. After that it's just surviving Sorey's attack until to can tile swap and MA him to hell. Since he has the LC drain in Chaos fighting him is more about tanking and less about heavy damage. Hope this helps if you haven't already beat him! (2/2)

I haven’t beaten him yet, so thanks for the advice!  I’ll go give it a shot after maintenance ends and they hand out the Soul Arena rewards and I can go farm Malik for a bit to unlock SA Water Armatus Sorey’s passives so I’ll actually have a nice strong MA finisher!

ok. i know. i've bombarded you enough. but now that i've finished reading all of your post-ep-12 meta, i want to ask (and i know your busy! so no pressure) what do you think this shitty narrative means for season 2? do you think we'll see endless miscommunications? angst? yuri's confrontation with growth and puberty? victor's continuing ennui? yuuri's realisation that he was wrong—so wrong (and so stupid/selfish)—to insist that victor return to skating? ANY real conversation at all between v/y?!

First of all, I recommend that everyone read @soobaki​‘s “what can s2 fix” meta here. I subscribe to everything she says and I’m probably going to end up repeating a lot of it here, just more rambly.

Do I think it’s possible to fix the damage in season 2? Kinda. Not all of it. Victor Nikiforov is dead is screwed. 

Some things are “fixable” if you treat them as just having been delayed. Like Yuuri’s entire narrative. Just have him keep going towards gold, and working on his self-confidence and self-worth. Make his anxiety come back though, for the love of god, that arc was just completely dropped and not properly addressed/resolved at all in the finale. He will forever have been robbed in the finale but his narrative was not as derailed as others so he can still work towards it. He has everything to achieve yet because he achieved exactly nothing, narrative wise, in season 1. 

Things aren’t looking awesome for Yurio though. By which I mean, Yurio is going to have to suffer double now that the finale validated everything terrible about his character arc (his sense of superiority,everything he ever said to Yuuri and Victor, his dangerous habit of pushing his physical limits,selling his soul to win). So if he still is to fall, it must be a severe fall. Yurio doesn’t really have anywhere to go from where the finale placed him. He wants to beat Yuuri’s FS score. Like...ok...if you’re going to just give him that goal we’re in for a repeat of season 1 with Yurio practicing recklessly to beat Yuuri, just with the added bonus that he can spend said entire season reminding both Yuuri and Victor of what failures they both are, having lost to him, and then he wins gold in the finale again and he never has stamina problems ever and learns nothing and continues to be a prima ballerina instead of Russia’s ice tiger. Ahem.

A problem for Yurio to face would be puberty. I’ve always thought they should just let that happen. Let all the warnings about his body failing him catch up to him and let him deal. This is something they would have been able to, and should address in s2 regardless though, so ruining his arc in s1 is still inexcusable. I’m not sure they will go there though, for merch sake’s and character iconography and all. They are probably leaving Yurio on the edge of puberty forever. They could also hit him with an injury storyline, but if such a thing is to happen in s2 I have my best on someone else. Either way, boy is going to have to suffer a lot to compensate for s1 and I’m personally not looking forward to it. But he can get back on track, just with a lot more unnecessary sacrifice than if they would have just let him get silver in s1 and do his gala performance.

They can’t fix Victor. His character has been throughly assassinated beyond return. They would first have to address exactly why Victor suddenly did a 180º from episode 10. And they never will, because having Victor return to skating competitively was pandering towards the JPN fandom so the series is most likely just quietly going to ignore pre-episode 12 Victor’s feelings on the matter. There’s ways to force him out of competing. Have the Russian Federation stop him from doing it as long as he is coaching an athlete from a rival country at the same time. This would force Victor to choose between skating and Yuuri and I would like to say he would choose Yuuri (please!). Another thing, and I can actually see this happening, is to give him an injury. Both things are awwww so sad without ruining his image as a professional see (because if he decided not to compete after all he would be branded as an impulsive, fickle man forever in the eyes of the public and the skating community), but they would still keep Victor WANTING to compete but tragically he just can’t and oh, Yuuri, disregard once more that your journey should be about your own self-improvement and go out there and win gold in my place! Either way, Victor can never just retire and peacefully move on and enjoy life and love again. Not like he could have if he had stuck to retiring in s1. 

You see, Victor can’t win. Well, he can, but that just robs Yuuri from his narrative again and just messes up their relationship even further. But if Victor loses, no matter for how much, he doesn’t leave behind a perfect legacy anymore. He’s not retiring as the fifth consecutive world champion, he’s retiring as the former fifth consecutive world champion who tried to make a comeback after a break and lost. Or worse, tried to make a comeback and ended up injured and was forced to retire. There’s really no way to salvage his narrative. Not without sacrificing Yuuri’s. 

As for potential Victuuri angst. If they were to take a realistic route with the writing in s2, it should totally be there. Victuuri drama should be one of the main sources of conflict in s2, UNFORTUNATELY for all of us. Stuff that could have been avoided, but here we are. I’m thinking about this following the martyr!Victor interpretation over the manipulativebastard!Victor one, by the way. So Victor gave up what he truly wanted just to make Yuuri happy and never talked to him about it. Realistically, he should be growing resentful of Yuuri. Especially because, realistically, his return would be no smooth sailing. He hasn’t been practicing for almost an entire year and he’s going to have to balance his own practice with coaching Yuuri. If competing was suffocating before it’s going to leave him even more wrecked now. So growing resentment and continuous miscommunication with a nice dose of Yuuri anxiety is a must. I also don’t see how competing against each other will ever be healthy for them, so add that as a source of conflict too. THE talk still has to happen, and adding all the potential angst and conflict for them throughout the season, it would have to happen more than ever. As long as the talk happens, and make it extra long and clear, the Victuuri narrative can be salvaged too. But at what cost? And can they truly fix Victuuri with Victor being permanently broken? Was it worth it when we could have easily had them standing on firm, clear ground at the end of s1?

Of course, I’m not sure they would actually follow any realistic route with Victuuri, considering how they’re trying to pass them off as perfect and 100% healthy at the end of s1 anyway and how big of a selling point the ship is. So who knows what they could do in s2, really? For all we know they’re going to continue to....not talk to each other at all but act like everything is ok and perfect between them and hope the audience buys it too, and look to just Yurio/skating in general as a source of conflict. 

We’ll have to see when it inevitably comes, sometime in the next couple of years.

Alight SO, I just reread/caught up on Reconciliation for the third time and jesus, it's still so good and I still notice things I didn't the 1st time. The last 10 or so chaps I was reading for the first time and fuck, everything hurts. My heart tells me I shouldn't have done that all in one sitting. Rereading it all has inspired me to get back to the fic I've been collabing on and a special Reconciliation-inspired project I've been neglecting. Thanks so much for all the time you've put into it!!
