At home

When I reached home today, I felt as if I had mistaken the address. The house was completely clean, even the fresh flowers were picked from the garden and put in the vase in the dining room. If I had a gun, I would probably have reached out for it. It was my house, for sure, but someone must have broken in, and cleaned it. I first thought of my mom – could it be that she took the long train ride, got here, saw the mess and decided to clean it up?

I found my boys in the living room, watching “How it’s made” on the “Discovery” channel. “Mom’s home” I heard my husband whisper, and they both jumped to greet me. “What is going on?” I dared to ask, but I was afraid I was not going to like what I was about to hear.

“Mommy, Daddy and I thought, well, oh, I mean we talked about, you know, joining…” My son felt uncomfortable. Joining what? Don Corleone’s family? Regular members of striptease club meetings? AA’s? My husband continued. “Suzy, we thought about joining robotic club”. My son seemed too happy that daddy took a stand. “They are having racing robots mom! Dad took me to watch them race two days ago and it is amazing!”

Is that why they went through all this trouble? I was truly shocked, but I agreed on their idea – go and have fun I said, and my son started crying out of happiness. I am still thinking about the house though.
