Every couple of months I try to find your Cabin Pressure Groundhog Day fanfic and I always struggle with your AO3 name. Today I was like… Boccaccio symphony? Anyway I found it and I still love it 💖

Haha yeah I admit boccardo-syllogism is a pair of unnecessarily complex words. It's also a very niche reference - it's a plot point in "Fugue", my favourite episode of Endeavour - and I accidentally misspelled it when I was making my account and didn't notice until I'd already posted things! I didn't want to bother remaking the whole thing, so now I just ....live in agony, I guess.

I'm glad to hear people are still reading my Cabin Pressure fic! That was a fun one to write and one of those hallowed Trope Plots I'd never tried to write before. And let's be real, if a Groundhog Day plot was going to happen to anyone in that show it would 100000% be Martin Crieff, the human lightning rod for comically improbable misfortune.

Man, I should reread some fandot fic. I haven't gone back and browsed in what's probably literally years at this point. Thanks for the compliment and for inspiring me to dip my toes back in!

I went onto the flight deck of my ship at like 10 pm once and it was the first time I had ever been scared of the sea, I couldn’t see ANYTHING such as the railing and if I fell overboard absolutely no one would notice

This is cute and I love mcdanno but I am really curious as to why you picked Port Royal for the ship in this

I actually started this story months ago so I don’t really remember why I picked that ship in particular. I think I just googled active US Navy ships stationed in Hawaii and liked that name the best (that’s usually how my naming process goes anyway)

But! 1) for whatever reason i feel less like I am an Academic Failure and General Embarrassment if I’m playing with Tolkien verse than when I play fast and loose with historical interpretation (especially if we’re involving metaphysics like some wierdos from another department), and, strangely, I get fewer smug undergrads being like “ummmm? source??” on stuff I literally icluded the source for in the post, or being like “ummmm, *some basic APUSH crap*” or “ummmmm that’s #problematic!” when it’s fictional and turns out there’s only so much of that a body can take.
