#BrilliantFriend couldn't be done in English, says TV director
The director turning Elena Ferrante’s “Neapolitan Novels” into an HBO television series said there was no way the stories could have been filmed in English or adapted to take place in America.
The first two episodes of “My Brilliant Friend” – a co-production with Italian broadcaster RAI – screened at the Venice Film Festival this week to warm reviews.
“It’s impossible to make the adaption of ‘My…

We're back in Delhi and I have to say one of the loveliest things is coming back to stay with Bee and Justin. Their house is a magnet for fun, relaxed, normal family life which we love. Everything about it and them makes us feel totally at home. Even arranging a full body massage for both Robin and myself with a lovely Indian grandma with hands of steel..... they Rock!!! We got to spend time with Justin's sister and niece whom where also visiting and went to a lush green park. Whilst the kids ran around in the sprinkler Laughing and jumping with joy we got to talk and take in our beautiful surroundings. There are a few things I really love about India, one being that mostly animals are respected as having as much right to roam as we do. I think we are all used to seeing cows, goats, sheep, monkeys, dogs and chipmunks everywhere now and if a cow feels like sitting in the road, why not he is tired! Why do we as humans get to dictate where they can be? I also like the Hindi philosophy on death and that it's not a taboo. A life should be celebrated. The acceptance that it's part of everyday life hit me when we were sat in traffic next to an ambulance. (A large car with windows all around it) and in the back on a stretcher was a dead body with a cover over them. It got me thinking why is everything hidden from us in the uk when actually accepting life's highs and lows in life is such a massive lesson? Our last full day in Delhi tomorrow so will make the most of this crazy city.
