Just as an update on the computer situation, the shop was telling me that because the repairs are expensive (but still within my budget), I should just buy a new computer instead, even though a new computer worth buying in my opinion is not within my budget (without dipping into earmarked emergency money - which I would do if it exploded tomorrow or something and was legitimately unsaveable). But the thing is any computer in my comfortable budget is either barely better or actually worse specs wise than my 5 year old computer. This is why I bought the one I did - I wanted it to last longer than 5 years. I still do and I fully believe it can if we just replace these parts

And they framed it as saving me money in the long run, which is technically true, but my dad pointed out it’s more likely they just want me to buy another $3000+ computer from them lmao. Which again, is not comfortably within my budget. And I like my computer, so buying something crappier as a stop gap that won’t really save me any money and will also take time to set up and file transfer and shit. And I will also immediately resent it for not being either my computer or a computer I actually wanted

So fuck all this, I’m getting my baby fixed and they can suck it

Getting your payment a day early but being unable to pay rent that's due tomorrow because your phone is in the repair shop for who knows how long (they closed today still having my phone) and your bank's site never works on your desktop for some reason

#I messaged landlord-roommate about it and he saw but never responded #I miss my phone #it finally stopped charging all together and died this past Monday #theta was kind enough to take it to the repair shop but they had to order a replacement charging port #and because of Baltimore's ungodly delays in the mail that's warranted a congressional investigation #the part only came in today and they didn't call before they closed saying the repair was finished #hopefully it's fixed by tomorrow because they're closed Sunday #I've already had one friend contact theta in a panic because I hadn't responded to the convo in days #I'm worried my clinic has been trying to check up on me because they know I was in the E.R. last Friday night #I can't remember if theta is my emergency contact or if they'll do a welfare check on me #Also I need to ask my PCP about potentially writing a new prescription for my pneumonia meds because I ran out of one #and am about to run out of the other #and I'm still a sick. doing better tho #but we'll see how long that lasts without meds #anyway I miss my phone

#noopa rambles #poor lad has been with me for damn near a decade at this point #I think I bought it in late 2013 #it currently only works when a specific set of headphones is at a very specific angle #no other set of headphones works #and this week it also started to randomly turn off when I tried to turn the screen off #bc the same button is also the power button #except you should hold it down for a few seconds for the power to go off #instead it instantly dies when I touch the button #the gods of music were in my favour today #I found a walkman and ordered it so I'll get a new music player #it's got half the amount of memory compared to my old boi but I shall make do #I considered waiting and seeing if ones with a larger memory becomr available #but with how few mp3s there are these days I decided to just go for it #the memory should hopefully be enough bc in theory my current ipod music library should fit #but the memory is 8gb and I currently have like 7.4gb of music #so if the thing has stuff that can't be deleted that takes memory I'll have to do some deleting :( #still better than none and better than being forced to use my phone for music #I just. do not like it is bad gimme an mp3 any day
