CIMP + idk
Like with all big (or small, or medium-sized) events in my life, I’d commemorate it by writing some sort of long winded essay thing while ignoring the responsibilities I have at the present, so here it is - I graduated from CIMP! Yay!
It feels surreal, though, because I still keep expecting to go back in a few weeks; to go back to weird talks + fun run games with Siew Theng, Sharon and Vin or to go back to sitting in the colourful A-levels corner near MDM4U class with Vin to gossip. But yeah, we’ve all graduated and it’s a bittersweet feeling.
I remember being super nervous at the beginning of the course; I remember trying to google the CIMP schedule and also counting out my marks because I was so sure I was gonna screw up the presentations and assignments (I mean, I still did that in sem 2 so HAHA), but I didn’t screw up and I’m super grateful for that. This is probably incredibly cheesy, but CIMP has thought me that I’m capable of being more than I think I am and that I can achieve things. It’s super weird, because out of all the subjects I thought I would be horrible at (ENG4U, Writer’s Craft, and Challenge and Change in Society), I did the best for those (I got awards for the highest mark in ENG4U and C&C lol). And I didn’t screw up Advanced Functions, unlike my Add Maths paper all those years ago.
And I’m so grateful for getting all the lecturers I got. These people actually take out the time to remember everyone by name, and to give feedback for every single paper or test we sat for. Yeah, maybe it’s how the programme is structured, but it still shows just how great this pre-U programme has been.
Cleaning out my notes, and looking back on all these things I spent my time on has made me realize just how fast time passes. It only lasted a year, and even though the semesters seemed to drag on, it all really happened too fast. My degree programme only lasts for three years, and then after that I’ll (hopefully) get a job and after that, what?
I’m not ready for the future, and maybe me wanting to stay in the present illustrates just how much of a creature of habit I am but yeah. Everything is moving so fast and I hate not being able to control it; I hate not knowing what’s the right path and what’s not. That’s why I’m so easily triggered when you don’t tell me things, guys, because I don’t like not being to get answers by just googling it. Jokes aside, I hope I’m taking the right path now. The “right” path now has a lot of face to face social interaction with adults right now, and oh God, I can feel the awkwardness creeping up on me already.
But still. I’ve graduated from college and while I’m not ready for Uni, I’m leaving it all with God.

I've seen a lot of questions about lead generation over the last few months on this subreddit so I thought it might be worth it to give an overview on the industry, tactics being used by lead gen companies, and where this industry is headed. If you run a home-service company, this may be especially valuable since my company only focuses on home-service lead gen and we work with some of the largest companies in the nation.A quick overview about myself and my company: We are a home-service lead-gen company similar to companies like Home Advisor, Porch, Angie's List, Thumbtack, you name it. We are obviously smaller than these guys, but my company will still do multiple millions of dollars of revenue this year and are growth trajectory is headed upwards. I believe we also have one of the highest margins in the industry which is partly due to the way we operate and some marketing automation technology we have developed internally. I know this because we've had meetings with the companies listed above and other players in the space and we're all pretty open with each other. If you want to know my company, feel free to message me. I would rather not post it because we only want traffic targeted to homeowners in need of a home service and to maintain the integrity of our contractor relationships. Anyways, on to the good stuff!Lead generation is an expensive business: I hear a lot of people wanting to get into home service lead generation because they hear things like "You can make $200+ on a single roof installation" or "If you get 10 AC install leads, you'll make $1,500 a week". Guess what, these numbers actually are realistic, but it's going to take a ton of time and effort to get there! In lead generation, the leads are the EASY part. Once you learn all the marketing tactics and how this industry works, you will quickly realize, generating leads is not the challenge (although it may be in the beginning). The trick to this whole thing is having the right buyers. In order to maximize your margin, you have to sell your leads at a retail price directly to contractors and home service providers. Building a network is a huge operating expense, plus the cost of your technology, cost of people, cost of leads, cost of marketing, etc. There is also lead selling between all of the networks, but the gross margins can be as low as 3% per lead and there is a lot of junk leads being distributed. We purchased these leads for a few months, but the quality was so low that it ended up being a bigger negative than positive.Exclusive leads vs. shared leads: In our industry leads are sold on a shared or exclusive basis. Shared leads can be sold to 3-5 different contractors. Also, one network might actually sell a lead to another network if that lead was only purchased by 1 contractor (it's actually pretty screwed up and we never do this). We sell shared leads to our own network, but we give all of our contractors the option to see the lead first and only a maximum of 3 contractors can respond to a lead. Exclusive leads are usually reserved for larger buyers and are more expensive than a shared lead. Our company does have an exclusive lead program that is only reserved for the largest companies in the nation and we expect all leads to be paid in full before we start distributing leads to them. Minimum monthly budgets can range from $5k to $15k which usually yields a 4x-6x return for the company. Methods to generate leads: At the heart of it, we are a marketing company with strong tech behind the engine. Our #1 way for generating leads is targeted SEM campaigns that are hyper localized, with super specific landing pages to the keywords we target. I could write thousands of words on how this is done and the algorithms we've built, but I can save that for another day if there is any interest!Every piece of traffic we generate is also sorted based on the page a user was on and retargeted on Facebook and display ads. For example, if you were on a plumbing page, we'll be retargetting you for 1-2 days to try and get you to convert to create a plumbing lead. Retargetting is one of the most cost effective ways we market for us, but it's not nearly as much volume as SEM. We also built 2 marketing automation tools that generate leads at almost no cost, but those are industry trade secrets that we keep inside our business doors only. Like I said above, you can also purchase leads from other lead generation networks, but the quality is just so bad that it will destroy your business if you do it for too long. Fake leads and selling aged leads is a serious problem within the industry and is only sustainable for a few days to weeks. If you have a contractor network and do this, it will destroy you in the snap of a finger if you try it. Contractors don't like any BS and neither do we.Where is lead gen headed: Lead generation isn't going away anytime soon. Google has been expanding Google Home Services over the last year which is (in my opinion) the gold mine of the internet if you run a home service business. If you have any sort of contractor's license and aren't on Google Home Services, you're throwing a lot of business away. Amazon has also been pushing their home service arm and we've had a few interesting conversations with them about it.In my opinion, lead generation will always take place without average consumers even realizing they are being monetized. The methods of lead generation will continue to evolve and different ways to engage users will emerge. With the amount of data we have been able to collect, I consider my company one of the pioneers in studying these behaviors and we've been developing conversational tools to replace forms for quite a while now. We've been able to develop a chatbot specific for home service lead gen and it increased our conversions from 14%-17%, all the way up to 20%-30%. (which is a pretty staggering increase in an industry where numbers are so scrutinized). Our tool is called Zyrachat. Once we realized the impact it had on our own site, we built out a version for our contractor network and saw conversion increases at much higher rates than our own (big win). Today, we've been able to successfully license our software to some big names in our space, successfully use it for our own company, and now we're making a push to share our technology with contractors outside of our network. If anyone has any questions about lead generation, marketing, conversational interfaces, chatbots, or anything else, feel free to ask! I always enjoy helping other entrepreneurs and sharing as much of my story as I can!

11 ammo straight to apex of your heart
1.     “Actions done with good intentions still end up hurting others.” – Erin Cinney
All my intentions are good actually. But only certain people can see. You included. If I overstepped my boundaries and treated you like a doormat, you might want to change the “WELCOME” needlework to “OH NO YOU AGAIN” and you can be the coolest doormat anyone has seen.
2.     April 6, 2017
I have friends but I have a pen and paper who are better listeners.
I guess I just need to settle for something who would tell me “I’m here you are not alone.”
People are arseholes! I included. There were times I find solitude with my pen and paper. And I’m grateful to all the trees that have been cut down and find its way towards you. Just in time before you watch your world fell apart. Just in time before you break down. So thank you trees for being there for Cham when I was stuck in traffic.
3.      “He’s the kind of good-looking that transforms once-self-respecting females into useless puddles of dumbass.” – Katja Millay, The Sea of Tranquility
I’m done with all “He”. “His”. This kind of good-looking will remain faceless to me! And you do know faceless is a myth. At least before when all those fboys didn’t ruin me.
4.     “Sometimes you do things for the right reasons and sometimes for the wrong ones and sometimes it’s impossible to tell the difference.” Everything, Everything
Nah, I just DO things. I actually like DOING it. Like how Olly and Maddy DO it.
5.     “Ask me how I am, and I’ll tell you how I’m okay. Read what I write, and I’ll tell you how I’m not.” –Chloe Frayne
I’m sorry but I cannot let you read what I have written in the past three months. There’s so much to say. Things have been changing so fast.
It’s easy to say pull your shit together. To some people we just don’t know how. I’m aware things are changing. Between us. We are not what we used to. And we cannot go back to the way we were. The way things were. And maybe I don’t really wanna read your stuff but I’m glad you discover the beauty of writing and the thing about it is that no matter how screwed up you are or bad at it, it’s basically the same. It helped you pull your shit together and it wasn’t as messed up as you think it would be.
6.      April 6, 2017
           “You are too nice Cham”
I didn’t know being nice was that bad and to hear this from you. That was so unexpected. You just need to appreciate these people. The world would be so cruel without them.
Being nice is one thing. But being nice to someone who treats you bad is another. And I felt like I treated you badly or I wasn’t there when you needed a friend and you being too nice eats me and I feel like shit.
7. “And when I let you down, look past your doubt, just please don’t lose your faith in me. “ –Taking Back Sunday
-When I let you down don’t lose your faith in me. It’s those days again and I need a friend. Can you just listen?
I told you. You can write it down or message me in facebook and I’ll seenzone it. Maybe now you get it why I tell you to write it? Because writing is therapeutic and it is much the same when telling it to someone only much better!
8. “They drove down for miles and miles without a destination. Just them and the open road, and they loved every minute of it.”
I have a story for this one. We took Hermes with us down the airport.
I might have constructed a line or two about letting go.
But I forgot to jot it down.
While I give words, you tell stories through pictures.
And while I was contemplating of letting go,
You finally let it go. The end.
9. “In the end, maybe it all comes down to the last story we tell and the person we tell it to. And in the end, when I whisper our story to the stars, I hope you’re there.” Chloe Frayne
When it all comes to an end I wish it to be our story I tell. I wish that the person I tell it to is to be you. Okay! I will not wet blanket you with this one.
10. “I’ll make use of the space you have given me.” 3-23-17
I wasn’t trying to smart mouth you but I guess it comes out naturally. You know that when you decide to push people away, I will always come back. I will never reach out but you know I always come back.
11. Sometimes “S” don’t stand for sacrifice. But someone has to do it. Shotgun no more. – 3-30-17
Fuck! I screwed up again! My mess piled up second year second sem. But always know that if someone has to walk or ride a jeepney because a car can’t cater 7 people plus boyfriends— that would be me and you. Ever since.
“You taught me how to pick locks by picking notes from Jar of Quotes you gave me– a lock through your soul.” H. Vorsen

READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE PROCEEDING; this version of Kat is still from my story Invasion along with her whole background (except for when she hears of Blood Sport, since that part is for Blood Sport only), however, if I have to change things I will.; OKAY, you may proceed.
EDIT 1: she has three long deep gashes along her lower back, stab wounds from the cables that came out of Sem's pak on various spots on her legs and part of her upper back.
EDIT 2: as of 5/5/16 I have dropped out of the tournament, due to school, not feeling well and just not having any motive to write any further. I wish everyone else the best of luck, and so sorry if I disappointed anyone because of my decision.
Name: Kat
Age (human standards): 16
Species: Irken
Gender: Female
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 90 lbs.
Hair color: Red
Eye color: Red-pink
Defect: Yes (she's at a disadvantage, so yeah she's gonna have a rough time fighting)
Physical Description: Short and slender, not that tough but can hold her own in half of the situations she gets herself into. She has four tattoos, a black tribal tattoo on the left side of her face/head, a <3 BVB (Love Black Veil Brides) on her left shoulder, Scorpio's name tattooed on her lower back and a red tribal symbol on the lower left side of her torso. Has various stitches all over her body. Stitches are on the upper parts of her arms, lower parts of her legs, her torso, various spots on her back, an 'x' shaped stitch on her left cheek and a 'Y' shaped stitch over her left eye. Her hair is cut in a downward Mohawk going about three to four inches past her chin, covers the right side of her face. Right side of her face is burnt, has an 'x' shaped scar that turned white after the blood dried up and the injury had healed, right eye was also burnt and can't be seen out of. Long black antennae's with curly red ends.
Background: Kat grew up on Irk for most of her life with her sister Tak. While growing up she was usually never around people that much, unless it was Tak, being that she only trusted her and didn't like to socialize with others. When she was about the age of five she had been messing around with fire, she had set fire to a thick stick she had found (don't ask), anyway while messing with it and not knowing just how dangerous it was, she had decided to look at it closer, which ended up with her accidentally burning the right side of her face along with her right eye. Within the next hour or so she got lectured by Tak about what not to do with fire while being taken to the medical ward. After that had happened, and when she was fully healed, she had enrolled in the academy to become an Invader, when in reality she was only there to learn how to fight and to learn how to use weapons. She spent a good eight years there learning everything she wanted to before ditching right before graduation. While she was there she had fallen for a student with a bad reputation, which turned out to be Scorpio. The two were young at the time and didn't know much about love, but they knew that they wanted to be with each other, so they ended up dating when she had just turned twelve. That had soon turned into a tragedy, shortly after they started dating rumors had started to spread about the two, all of which were lies and untrue. For the first couple of months it wasn't really a problem, then it got worse and worse to where the lies seemed real. Halfway through their relationship, Kat and Scorpio kept getting into arguments and wouldn't listen to what each other had to say, then finally after a whole year of being together, they had got in a fight. At first it was just yelling at each other and then one of them pulled out a blade, it went from yelling at each other to trying to kill each other within a matter of minutes. In the end, both had bruises and cuts, Kat with the most injuries and Scorpio with less, both had to get stitches and when it came for them to get the stitches taken out, they decided to just keep them, well Kat did, Scorpio didn't care about it and kept them anyway. The next month Kat left the academy and fled to Earth to live her life the way she wanted to. Six months after fleeing, she finally got to Earth, made her hideout, and registered in school (although she didn't want to, but had to). Three years later, she's still living on Earth now at the age of sixteen and finds out about a certain Blood Sport after looking through files of Irk.
Personality: While growing up and before meeting Scorpio, Kat was very distant and didn't want to be around people, not because she was picked on or anything like that, but because of what happened to her when she was ten. She had been kidnapped and treated terrible, abused, starved and tortured for about three months. During that time she was defiant and would backtalk, have an attitude and was overall very sarcastic. At one point in time of her capture she was given this black tribal tattoo on the left side of her face/head unwillingly. After that time, when she was in the academy training, she was more serious then anything at that point. She didn't screw around like some of the other students (many of my ocs) and was still very distant from people. Then when she met and was dating Scorpio she was a little more loving for a short time and then it went back to her being a stubborn sarcastic bitch who didn't care about what trouble her actions got her into. Up to current time she's now just quiet, emotionless and still distant from people, but will talk (yell) when threatened or treated badly. She is smart when needed, like when tracking or hunting, but if in a fist fight she usually gets too cocky and doesn't pay attention to her opponents moves that often, which is bad for her.
Weapons and Medical Supplies: Sniper Rife that she bought while living on Earth, with a descent amount of ammunition that she never used until now, pretty heavy to her if she carries it for too long. Two blades that she spray painted because they lacked color and because she was bored, one being a regular knife and the other being this bent hooked like knife. She'll use her blades as a last resort or whenever she wants to carve something out of boredom. Her PAK has pak legs that are usually just used for climbing, but when the time rises, they'll sometimes be used to hit and or try to stab people/animals. She'll try to fight with her fists but that's pretty rare since she's not that good at fist fighting. If all else fails she'll use her communicator or Hover board to try and hit someone with, that usually happens when she's out of ideas. As for her medical supplies, they're just the basic stuff like bandages, needles and string to re-stitch her stitches if they come undone or if she needs to mend new injuries.
Fighting Style: With her weapons it ranges from tactful to full out idiotic. She'll use and conserve her ammunition for her sniper when needed, thus being tactful in that area, but because of the fact that she can't carry it for too long she'll tend to get unbalanced and annoyed. When using her blades she's not so much tactful but rather hotheaded, which ends up with her losing those types of fights. Fist fighting is where and when she gets to where she'll be unbalanced in stance and in swings, because as said already, she's not so good at it. With and or when she's all out of weapons and ideas, that's when she gets idiotic by using her communicator, Hover board or anything else in the area that she could probably use as a weapon.
Strengths: Fast when running, climbing and making a camp. She tends to run for long periods of time when getting out of trouble, so she has gotten used to it. Climbing with or without her pak legs she's somewhat fast but not fast enough in most situations. Making a camp sight is the one thing that she's an expert at, she used to do it all the time when little just for the fun of it.
Weaknesses: Overall it's mostly her hotheaded personality that gets her into more trouble then she can handle. That and getting angered easily by the simplest comments people say or what life throws at her. Lack of sleep is another thing. Why, is because she fears she'll end up back in the place where she was held in while captured. Mostly active at night because of said fear, which leaves her tired and groggy the next day.
