Special thanks to Mod Atarah (@penguinsledder) and our new Mod Celes (@chocomd) for the lovely gif!
What is Kataang Week?
Kataang Week is when we, as a corner of the fandom, celebrate the ship Kataang! The prompts for Kataang Week 2023 were selected through four rounds of voting over the last few weeks and all prompts were submitted by Tumblr users.
Cool, when is it?
Summer Kataang Week 2023 starts on Monday, July 24th - just over seven weeks from today - and ends on Monday, July 31st.
How do I participate?
The most common ways to participate are by creating art or writing a fic and posting it online. Some people try and create something for every day while others only fill one or two prompts.
As always, we want to reassure you that it’s perfectly okay not to do every prompt! We just hope to have lovely pieces to share on each day.
But I can’t draw or write!
That’s totally fine - there are more ways to participate! You can sing a song, create a graphic, write a poem - just about anything really. You can also show your support by reblogging and liking other people’s contributions.
What are the prompts?
The following will be the running order for Kataang Week 2023:
Wind & Rain - Monday July 24th
Injured - Tuesday July 25th
Confession / Whisper - Wednesday July 26th
Cultural Differences/Cultural Exchange - Thursday July 27th
Secretly Dating / Rivals to Lovers - Friday July 28th
Spirits - Saturday July 29th
Reunion/Meeting Again - Sunday July 30th
Free Day - Monday July 31st
Don’t forget that this year we have the Kataang Week 2023 Bingo Challenge, as well as alternative prompts for Free Day! See the bingo challenge post for more information.
* As a reminder, Cultural Differences/Cultural Exchange and Reunion/Meeting Again were combined during voting as they were very similar prompts. You can interpret them as singular or separate prompts and incorporate one or both for each day.
** Confession and Whisper, as well as Secretly Dating and Rivals to Lovers, were tied with votes, so instead of flipping a coin/deciding randomly, both tied prompts are included as options. You can incorporate one or both prompts for each day.
*** And as always, there is a Free Day at the end of the week. You can use this day to post anything you’d like! It can be a prompt that didn’t receive enough votes or something you’ve been wanting to work on, anything goes!
How should I tag my work?
The easiest way for us to find your work so we can reblog it to this blog is by using the tag “kataang week”. Using “kataang” and “kataangtag” also help. You must tag one of the three in your first five tags otherwise it doesn’t appear in the search.
Sometimes even properly tagged posts may not appear when we search the tags, so if you do not see your content reblogged, please let us know.
Once we’ve reblogged it to this blog we add our own tags (a prompt tag and a user tag) for easy organization. This means we can find all the work for one prompt or all the work from one user in one easy click (this also means that if you have changed your username since participating last year you need to let us know so we can update your tag!).
Can I post my stuff other places online too?
Of course you can!
Why seven weeks? Is that enough time?
Traditionally, we like to provide our content creators seven weeks (for the seven prompts) to create quality content. Kataang Week is also traditionally held in the last week of July.
If you are unable to complete a prompt in time, please do not fret. You can alert this blog by mentioning it in your post (ex. @kataang-week) or messaging one of the mods and your content will still be shared even if it is a week (or a month - or sometimes more!) late.
We also like to post WIP for Kataang Week and encourage everyone else to do so as well - we reblog it here for motivation!
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, don’t hesitate to send an ask. Don’t forget to reblog this as well to help spread the word!
Good luck, Kataangers, and happy content creating! :) - The Mods

2023/06/08 Blog post by Wakana いよいよ今週はインストアイベント!!〜最近やっとリリース出来た事を実感しています〜
❗This is Fan Club EXCLUSIVE content❗ ❗PERSONAL USE ONLY❗ Do ❗NOT SHARE❗ on other sites ❗Join her FAN CLUB! Check out my detailed TUTORIAL ❗
this Week it’s Time for my In-store Release Event!!〜My Album has Finally Released〜
To celebrate the release of my album, I got to write a lyric essay for Uta Net. This was my first attempt at writing such an essay, I took on the challenge by reading many essays in advance😲!! II honestly had no idea what to do, I kept worrying until the very end😂 The recital was a lot of fun 😳Actually, I came across something very interesting called a “sound shield” at Yuji Toriyama-san’s studio where I did most of my vocal recording for the album. I was so intrigued by the item that I bought a mini size. These sound shields or microphone isolation shields are crucial because they provide a better environment for the microphone to produce good sound quality. They pick up reverberations that occur when voices or musical instruments echo in a room. Typically, I use a handheld mic when I practice but I record all my demo songs with a mic on a mic stand at home so I knew that investing in a shield like that would increase the quality of my recordings considerably! I took the plunge and bought one. When I recorded my reading of the essay using this filter, the audio was recorded very well 😳I think it sounded great because it delicately picked up my breathing! It felt like I was almost in a professional radio recording environment 😳However, it's quite a hassle to set up the filter on the mic stand so I've removed the filter at home but here’s a picture of Toriyama-san's studio! *laughs* (of course I have his permission to post this😉) It's a great way to easily improve the quality of your recording environment!
Hello, this is Wakana (0 ̄▽ ̄0)/
I recorded a total of 3 lyric essays at home using this newly acquired armature(?). Please be sure to listen to them😊

2023/06/08 Instagram post by Wakana
Only 2 days left until the Shibuya in-store event 🥳🎉 These days I am finally starting to realise that my album has actually released. From last year to this year, I was busy creating the album, facing each and every song carefully. I’d like to look back on some of the fun photos which were taken during the album recording 🤭 Here we have a group photo of Konno Strings during the recording of "Asu wo Yume Mite Utau"🎻 Seeing Takebe-san in the booth giving instructions to the string players almost felt like we were on the set of a TV program. On the one hand it felt quite hectic but on the other hand, there was an overwhelming sense of reassurance that the production was in capable hands 😳✨It was a really amazing recording😍 (Source)
“Sono Saki e” Oricon Ranking
As mentioned in another blog post, “Sono Saki e” made it to #14 on its first day in the Daily Oricon Charts. That’s honestly a lower entry-position than expected but not too shabby (in comparison, Keiko managed to reach #8 on the first day).
Tumblr media
However, Wakana is still in the Top 30 for the Weekly Oricon Charts which is actually pretty neat. Not as high as her 1st (#19) or 2nd (#22) original studio album but much better than her cover album (#42) => Oricon

2023 in 2023
Tumblr media
December 2023
It’s December and time again to reflect on my year in fitness. My running/walking journey was permeated by a mistake I made at the very beginning of the year in January 2023. Let me explain:
I like and am highly motivated by fitness challenges. Whether that means I’m lazy on my own or just easily swayed by shiny objects, I don’t know; but I will make sure I complete a challenge if it means I get a reward at the end. As silly as it may sound, I know I’m not the only one given the popularity of finisher medals for live/virtual races and personal fitness trackers with monthly digital bling.
So…In January I signed my husband and I up for a “2023 in 2023” virtual challenge. In my mind, that meant a great big medal for completing 20.23 miles in 2023. Easy peasy, right? WRONG! It was actually 2,023 miles in 2023. Commas and decimal points are important, kiddos!
The good news is that we signed up as a team, so the 2,023 was a combined effort that has kept us documenting our miles every day of every month of this year. We received the medal early in the year and it included milestones along the way for encouragement. Regularly we take a realistic look at our progress to determine if we are on course to finish by December 31st or if we need to take it up a notch. As of the almost-end of November, we have a total of 1,935 miles, leaving us with 88 miles to finish. We plan to do at least 3 5k’s in December, including Five Star’s Reindeer Run on 12/16 and White Elephant 5k on 12/24. Side note: In addition to Christmas Eve, December 24th is also my birthday. I’m really looking forward to my Christmas Eve Birthday 5k!
So that’s what I’ve been working on this year. My hard count of (physical) bling for 2023 is 27. I’m really looking forward to adding the big 2023 number 28 medal to the display. Wish me luck and you best believe I will be reading the fine print of any 2024 fitness challenges very carefully next year!!!
Happiest of Holidays and Happy Running!
Kerry

Something I’ve been doing for a while on Toyhouse is what I call the “What’s Next?” bulletin— basically a post detailing what you guys should expect from me for the next few months in terms of my creative works. Additionally, I also reflect on what I’ve posted in the previous few months. While I’ve been cross-posting this information to my Insta and Twitter since I began doing this bulletin series, I’ve neglected to cross-post it here. That changes today; keep scrolling to find out what I want to do over the summer!
Yesterday was the last day of my Spring 2023 semester. Normally this would mean that I'm on summer break and therefore having more time to devote to my creative pursuits. However, I am taking two courses over this summer; while less than my usual four-class schedule, it means that I will continue to be primarily focused on school. While I'll still be posting my photography, what else can you guys expect from me?
In Terms of My Art: I continued to release what was left of my "Alternate Universe" series featuring some of my Great Adventure personifications (Joker, GASM, and Nitro). Next, I created two art pieces (one of Toro, one of SteVe) that released simultaneously with "Red-Tagged" and "Race For The Sky", respectively. Then, I put out some art featuring characters I haven't drawn in a while; one with Ultra Twister and Viper, the other with Lil' Devil Coaster, Joust and Kozmo's Kurves. Finally, I posted a picture of two keychains made using a Shrinky Dink sheet and some wire; ice-cream character bar designs of JDC and Toro. In regard to future art, I have ideas for two Coastermaynia 2023 prompts; one will be for Nitro (with an intended release on May 27th), the other for the "Your Choice" prompt (with an intended release on May 31st). While I would like to do something for Steel Vengeance's 5th Anniversary (sadly I wasn't able to make something in time for the actual date), I'm unsure if I'll be able to put something out during this semester. Outside of that, I'll just wait for inspiration to strike (but I still want to focus on drawing some underutilized characters).
In Terms of My Stories: As mentioned in the previous bulletin, I had two stories that I wanted to post sometime during the spring semester. The first one was "Red-Tagged", a companion piece to Tricks and Turns that takes place in an alternate universe; this was released on February 3rd, as advertised. "Red-Tagged" had an accompanying piece of art featuring Toro, the main character of the story. The second one was "Race For The Sky", aka the fifth installment of my "Winter Chill Out" series that released on March 31st. "Race For The Sky" also had an accompanying piece acting as the story's "cover art". As for any future stories, I currently do not have plans to put out anything on the scale of "Red-Tagged" or "Race For The Sky". However, I have recently been writing some drabbles (aka stories that won't be fully realized and are comparatively shorter); they can be found here under the "techystory” tag.
That's all for now; the next bulletin will be put out at the end of my Summer 2023 semester.

Dangerous developer Frontier quietly announces Warhammer Age of Sigmar RTS • Eurogamer.net
We all know about Creative Assembly’s wonderful Total War: Warhammer strategy games. Now, Frontier Developments has quietly announced it’s making a Warhammer Age of Sigmar real-time strategy game.
Buried within the investor relations portion of its website is a note that the Cambridge-based maker of Elite: Dangerous, Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo and Jurassic World Evolution has signed an intellectual property licence with Games Workshop to develop and publish an RTS for PC, consoles and streaming platforms for release in the financial year 2023 (the year ending 31st May 2023). This game is based on the popular fantasy tabletop Warhammer, specifically the popular Age of Sigmar era.
The Age of Sigmar tabletop game first released in 2015, and is the successor to the discontinued game Warhammer. Frontier’s game will be the first RTS set in the Age of Sigmar. Creative Assembly’s Total War: Warhammer games are based on the “Old World”, which is now replaced by the Age of Sigmar.
Here’s a quote from Frontier boss David Braben: “We are delighted to announce this licence with Games Workshop. I personally think it’s great news that two such well-established and world-class creative UK companies with global reach are collaborating on a new project. We look forward to working closely with the team at Games Workshop to bring the rich world of Warhammer Age of Sigmar to a wide audience through an immersive and accessible real-time strategy game on both PC and console.”
This means Frontier has two major releases from internal development teams for each of the financial year 2022, and the financial year 2023. What could those games be? Let’s start with financial year 2022 (the year ending 31st May 2022). In March, Frontier announced it was now making F1 management games after signing a multi-year exclusive game licence with Formula 1. Four F1 games are planned, with the first launching in time for the 2022 F1 season on PC and consoles. So, we know one of those games is an F1 management title.
Frontier said FY22 “will benefit from the multi-platform release of a game based on an as-yet unrevealed major global IP”. Just last week Universal City Studios LLC, aka Universal Pictures, filed for a project called Jurassic World Aftermath, a filing that sounded a lot like it related to a video game. Frontier is rumoured to be making a Jurassic World-themed survival game. Could this be it?
Moving on to FY23, Frontier said to expect the release of the 2023 Formula 1 management game and the release of the Warhammer Age of Sigmar RTS. So that’s that one cleared up.
In the short-term, for the financial year ending 31st May 2021, aka FY21, two internally developed major releases are planned: Planet Coaster expanding onto PlayStation and Xbox, and a major new paid-for release for Elite Dangerous. Yesterday, Frontier delayed Elite Dangerous’ still-mysterious Next Era update, which developer Frontier previously described as a “defining moment in the history of the game”, from its anticipated December 2020 release date to Q1 2021.
Frontier said its FY21 and beyond will also benefit from releases from its third-party publishing initiative. Two games have been signed for release in FY21, with a further three already signed for FY22 and scope for more. Five or six third-party releases per year are expected from FY23 onwards. Busy times for Frontier indeed!
Frontier has over 500 staff, which are now of course working from home during the lockdown. The company said it had seen increased demand for its games during the coronavirus crisis, as many video game companies have. Because of this, it expects revenue to be “towards” the previously stated range of £65-73m for the current financial year ending 31st May 2020, aka FY20, with an operating profit of £11-13m.
“It is too early to judge the long-term effect of home working on efficiency, and there remains significant uncertainty regarding how long the lock-down may continue,” Frontier said. “We are continually assessing any potential impact on development. A small number of days were disrupted due to the transition in March, and while we anticipate some level of ongoing disruption, and thus potential delays to production schedules for content releases, including for Elite Dangerous’ next major update, we do not foresee a permanent loss of efficiency.”
Frontier insisted it’s in a strong position, with a debt-free balance sheet and cash of around £40m. As a result, it does not expect to use Government employment support or apply for grants during the coronavirus crisis.
