45 years, that is crazy. I constantly feel like I am in a time warp! Where have the years gone.
Tumblr media
We celebrated our anniversary by going to the Historic district and visiting the Palacio Nacional. when we arrived at the Palacio was there were walls erected around it, which means there was going to be a demonstration. We got in line and and as we went through the small opening we could see policemen lined up, and armed. We were warned that we might have to stay in the Palacio if a demonstration took place.
Tumblr media
The Palacio has a long a varied history. It was originally the where Moctezuma lived. When Cortez came from Spain, he was impressed with the building and it's decorations. Most of the building was destroyed during the conquest, but Cortez had it rebuilt.the Spanish Monarch bought it from Cortez and after the Revolution it became the seat of the Mexican Government. Diego Rivera painted mural by the grand staircase and other murals dictating Mexico indigenous life. It took him 6 years to complete it, he started in 1929. The murals are amazing.

Notice the Man in the center of the mural, he has the green head dress on, he is the Aztec God Quetzalcoatl. The story is that a white man visited the Aztec's and he told them he would return. Notice him flying away in the right upper corner.

We then visited the Torre Latinoamerica building, which has a a look out on the top. It was one of the very few buildings in Mexico City that had very little harm done to it. It is said that the architect was in the building as it swayed and he watched as other building crumbled.

A Top the Latinoamerica building.

Brother and sister Gomez-Cañedo. They have been working with Tracy, they have been helping him with his Spanish, and he has been helping them with their English.

We went out to dinner that evening with the Searle's and the Deaver's. I feel like I am constantly in a time warp, where do the years go?
