4 Things to inspect if Your Porsche Displays ‘Transmission Emergency Run’
Tumblr media
Modern cars are installed with certain systems that monitor different activities and warn the user if there is any faults. Warning signs are shown at the dashboard to alert the user. The warning signs are either in form of picture of a particular part or in the form of a message. In this article you will gonna know about a warning message - ‘transmission emergency run’ that comes up at the dashboard and what to inspect.
What do transmission emergency run mean?
When a message ‘transmission emergency run’ comes to the dashboard then there can be many issues in your transmission. Your transmission have either got overheated or making vibrations. Many Porsche owners complain that their transmission slip out from gears while such message comes out. One reason for this message to come can be that your Porsche control module might have stored some trouble codes due to which such error message pops up at the dashboard. Resetting the codes have solved many such problems but if the message still comes, then you may have to diagnose the problem after inspecting the gear box.
What to inspect if the ‘transmission emergency run’ message comes up?
Old battery
Mostly an old and exhausted battery is the culprit to make transmission emergency run message come up. So first you need to inspect if your battery in Porsche in good condition or not. Check the battery terminals, check if there is any leakage from it. At last check the voltage of the battery. If your battery cannot hold charge, they it would have a very less voltage.
Sometimes even a good battery can also die due to over discharge. This happens if some electrical accessories like lights are left on overnight. This would lead to draining out of energy from the battery unnecessarily. If your battery is not much old and also have no damages or leakage, then it may have got discharged. You need to just charge your battery at Porsche service shops.
Temperature sensor
The temperature sensor can also cause the message to come up. The work of the temperature sensor is to detect the temperature of the transmission and informing the control module. If the temperature sensor is faulty then it would not send correct signals and hence lead to illumination of certain warning lights, messages and storing of error codes. Check the temperature sensor to know if it has to be replaces or other fixes like cleaning can solve the problem.
MAF sensor
The MAF or mass air flow sensor is present in the air intake system detects the amount of air to enter into the engine. If the sensor is dirty or faulty then it can lead to transmission emergency run with other error messages regarding the transmission. So a MAF sensor inspection is also needed.
Gear oil
The gear oil or transmission fluid is the vital component of the gear box. It has to be inspected on regular basis and changed if it is old. A bad gear oil can lead to various transmission problems including transmission overheating too. So you need to check the gear oil level and its color.
Battery connections
A battery also makes the transmission to engage. But if the connections to the battery is loosened or damaged at cables, then it has to be fixed by mechanic.
What to do?
Many times, in Porsche, due to error, such messages comes up. So resetting the error can make your car run like before. You can try restarting your car. Just turn off the engine and take out your keys. Wait for some minutes and then turn your car on and start the engine. This method is found to be helpful for many Porsche owners. But if the restarting doesn’t solve the problem, then take an OBD2 scanners to have all the trouble codes checked. Porsche scanners are best for scanning the Porsche cars. So read the trouble codes to know the exact issue that causes the message to come up.
Conclusion
Better get your car fully inspected at a Porsche service center to get a best fix for your car. Porsche are specialized vehicles so require to be scanned by Porsche scanners and get repaired by repair kits provided only by the Porsche service centers.

Signs That Tell Your Audi Transmission Is Overheating
Tumblr media
Audi is an acclaimed brand that is a part of another imposing Volkswagen group. Its iconic four-ring brand symbol always makes it instantly recognizable. The ability to represent high-end luxury & deliver consistent high-performance has made this German brand more middle-of-the-road over the years.
However, like other cars, Audi can leave a driver helpless anytime in the middle of nowhere, especially if it is not properly taken care of. The cause of failure does not necessarily have to be the same all time. But if the source of the issue is related to the transmission, then the Audi owner would have to stay more prepared for the upshots.
Overheating is one of the hassles that your Audi transmission system may experience. Here in this article, you will get to know about the signs that will help you to identify an overheated Audi transmission.
How A Transmission Works?
The transmission is one of the most pivotal components of a speed machine. It is a metal case that contains a series of gears. The main role of this contrivance is to transfer power from the engine to the wheels. The transmission of a vehicle comes in 2 kinds-
1- Automatic Transmission
2- Manual Transmission
The working process of the transmission depends on its kind. The car operative is responsible for changing the gears in a manual transmission. In vehicles having a manual transmission, the driver presses the clutch pedal, moves the shifter to the required gear, & then releases the clutch pedal to change the gears. On the contrary, the car with an automatic transmission itself does the shifting of gears for the driver. In other words, the shifting happens automatically without necessitating an extensive input from the driver.
Transmission Overheating: Symptoms
Overheating is the main cause of transmission failure. In fact, different transmission issues start with overheating. Any kind of transmission trouble when becomes worse can drain your wallet effortlessly. For that reason, it is important for a driver to stay aware of the signs of transmission overheating so that the necessary measures can be taken timely to avoid a hefty repair bill.
Here are the symptoms of an overheated transmission.
  Burning Smell
  Gear Slippage
  Slow Response Time
Burning Smell: The transmission fluid has a certain life expectancy. Its functionality decreases as it ages. It begins to burn & turns dark at a certain point. When the transmission overheats, the burning process becomes ineffective & produces an unpleasant fume that a driver can easily detect inside his car.
Gear Slippage: The slippage of gears occurs when the fluid is heavily contaminated with dirt. Sometimes, worn gears, or a defective clutch- can also cause the transmission to slip.  An overheated transmission can also lead to gear slippage by not allowing the internal parts to lock down on one another.
Slow Response Time: If the transmission does not have enough fluid, then it won’t transmit the necessary amount of pressure that is required for exchanging the gears. The absence of enough pressure forces the driver to struggle during the enactment of the gear alternation. And that lag from the transmission during the ride is a prominent warning of transmission overheating.
Transmission Overheating: Prevention
The prevention tactics for transmission overheating are here.
Perform Fluid Checks: The inspection of the fluid needs to be carried out on a regular basis. By checking the fluid systematically, a car owner can pot the low fluid level & dirty fluid which would help him to prevent issues early on.
Follow The Recommended Maintenance Schedule: Keeping up with the proposed maintenance regimen will allow the transmission to stay functional like new by helping it to dissipate heat properly.
Install An External Transmission Cooler: It is not mandatory to use an external cooler for the transmission. But if you install a cooler, then it would take extra heat from the transmission, keep the transmission cool, & certainly keep the transmission safe from getting overheated.
Conclusion
Overheating is an issue that can dreadfully reduce the life of the transmission. Thus, it is the responsibility of the Audi owner to be aware of the measures that can keep the transmission serviceable for a lasting spell. Trying to resolve the issue without knowing anything can make the issue more complicated. Hence, it is advised to call a trusted car professional when you find your transmission in trouble.

This blog post will help you understand the importance of your car's transmission system and how to maintain it effectively. If you need help or assistance with your cars, phones, computers and more then do contact us at "Find My Service Center" to book a repair.
What is a Car's Transmission System?
Before we delve into transmission maintenance, it's vital to comprehend what a transmission system is and how it works. Essentially, it's a collection of components that transmits power generated by the engine to the wheels, enabling your car to move. The transmission system controls the torque - the turning power from the engine - allowing your vehicle to move at varying speeds.
Types of Transmission Systems
There are primarily three types of transmission systems: Manual, Automatic, and Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Manual transmissions give drivers full control over gear changes, while automatic transmissions handle this process independently. CVTs, on the other hand, provide a seamless range of gear ratios for optimal driving efficiency.
Importance of Transmission Maintenance
The transmission system is a significant part of your car. When it fails, your car fails. As such, the importance of regular transmission maintenance cannot be overstated. Proper maintenance can prevent costly repairs or replacements down the line, enhance your car's performance, and even extend its lifespan.
Signs Your Transmission Needs Attention
Recognizing the signs that your transmission needs attention is a crucial aspect of effective maintenance. Does Your BMW Jump Out of First Gear? Here are 5 Possible Reasons
Tumblr media
Transmission problems can be very annoying. Especially while shifting gears, it causes problems. It can be hard to shift gears or slipping of gears. Transmission is one of the very important part of a vehicle. If the transmission is damaged, then power from the engine would not be supplied to the wheels in required amount. So in this article I’m gonna discuss about some common reasons behind transmission jumping out of first gear in BMW.
What causes BMW to jump out of first gear?
Low gear oil
Gear oil helps the every parts of the transmission or the gear box to work properly. Lack of gear oil will affect the every process in the gear box including the shifter locking in one gear. If there is a very low oil in the transmission or the gear box, then the transmission would not get into first gear properly.
Bad or old gear oil
If the gear oil has become old enough that it can’t lubricate the gear box more, then it would also cause shifting problems of gears. Your shifter would not get fully into the first gear if the gear oil has become oil or having various contaminants.
Damaged gear box mount
The transmission mounts keep the system hold on a particular place properly aligned. If the transmission mount is broken, then it would not remain properly aligned. Due to misalignment the problem is caused while shifting gears, the shifter would not be able to engage a gear fully.
Faulty synchronizer in transmission
A synchronizer synchronizes the different parts in transmission, without these components, the transmission would not work. Your transmission will stay in a gear at all.
Wearing of bearing
Bearing helps the shafts to move freely and smoothly is the bearings are excessively worn, then the shafts move roughly with a load instead of moving easily. This leads the gear to come out of the mesh.
Improperly installed rubber boot
The rubber boot is situated on the shift lever shaft. If it is not isolated properly, then it would lead to you automatically jump to neutral. When you shift it to the first gear, then the rubber boot which is not properly installed would put some tension on the shift lever shaft and make it jump out of the first gear.
What to do to diagnose such shifting problems?
1.  If your BMW is repeatedly shifting out of gears, then you can try restarting the engine. Restarting can reset some errors in the control module of the car.
2.  You can reset the adapter settings in the car. For that you have to start the engine. Then push the throttle pedal slowly to the floor while the kick down lever is engaged. Keep the pedal pressed for 30 seconds, then turn off the engine. The ignition should be in on position. Then the pedal is released and engine is made to start. The gear box settings will be reset and the factory default settings would come to your gear box.
3.  Check if the transmission fluid level is correct or not. For that you have to run your car for ten minutes to heat up the fluid. Check the fluid after raising the ridge of the car. Check if the fluid or the oil is filled to the correct levels. Check for any leaks of the gear oil. The gear oil is filled to the gear box if there is lack of oil.
4.   Have a detailed inspection of the transmission, check the mounts, rubber boot, bearings, etc.
Conclusion
Get your car repaired by experienced trusted car technicians. There are both simple and complex fixes. Some fixes may be very much cheaper like changing the gear oil or changing the gear box mounts, while some fixes can be very costly like repair of gear synchronizers. For diagnosis you may need to replace or rebuilt the entire gear box.

Do This If Your Mercedes Keeps Jumping Out of First Gear
Tumblr media
Imagine if you want to shift to any gear, but your transmission automatically shifts to another gear. You try to shift again to that gear but repeatedly your car gets shift out of that gear. This would be pretty irritating, isn't it? It can get you into trouble if there is a high need of that particular gear at that time. Transmission problems are to be diagnosed. Here I’m gonna discuss about how to diagnose the problem and what causes this problem at the gear box.
What causes the Mercedes to jump out of first gear?
Here are some common reasons behind the jumping out of first gear
1.   Detent springs are worn
2.   Damaged shifter fork
3.   Wearing of the synchronizer in the gear box
4.   Lack of transmission oil
5.   Broken gear teeth
What to do if the Mercedes jumps out of the first gear?
Here are some steps to do if your Mercedes has such problem. For that you just need some wrenches, screw drivers, some lubricants like oil, FD40, etc. Use gloves for better safety of your hands.
1.   The gearbox cover is removed and then the inter lock plate is removed.
2.    Check the first and the second gear selector from the rear of the gear box.
3.    Check if there is any movement of the brass forks when made to slide back and forth. Faults in the detent ball and the spring can lead to movement.
4.    After removing the top cover, by the interlock arm and pivot, the change speed gate is removed.
5.    Remove the three nuts and washers located above the propeller shaft and at the ends of three rods. Also remove the locking plates that is linked with the first/second shaft and the third/fourth shaft. It should be carefully removed so that the threads would not be damaged.
6.   The selector rod is to be removed from the housing. Apply FD40 if the rod is tight
7.    After the removal of the rod, the spring and the ball in the hole are to remove by a magnet. If the spring is stuck then you may have to completely remove the speed fork after the removal other selector forks and rods. Check the other springs and balls in the gear box.
8.    Put new ball and spring into their hole and push the rod back into the selector fork holding. A little oil is applied to the selector rod before reinstalling it to the fork. With the help of a screw driver, the rod is pushed over it. A clunk will be heard when the ball comes to the grove of speed fork rod.
9.    If the clink sound is not heard, then the size on the spring or the ball must be not correct for your gear box.
10.  The locking plate is reinstalled. Then the washers and nuts are tightened well by wrench. The change speed gate is reinstalled and also the pivot and the interlock arm. The rods are screwed in and out to adjust the position of the forks.
11.  Put the top cover back to the gear box and then, the gear box is replaced back into the car. Put gear oil if required.
Preventing the transmission problems
Most of the transmission problems can be prevented if a proper care and maintenance is done of the gear box. Mostly, the gear box needs a regular oil change. If the oil is not changed regularly, then dirt may accumulate over gears and damage them. Transmission components are pretty durable, but they still need care.
Conclusion
After diagnosing the transmission problem, you can drive your car with a required amount of power in your car. Get your car diagnosed in garages if you get difficulty in repairing, better get your car diagnosed in authorized Mercedes service centers.

5 Signs Your Porsche's Clutch Slave Cylinder Is Broken
Tumblr media
Does your Porsche's clutch pedal feel spongy? You are probably dealing with a faulty clutch slave cylinder. What's that, you asked? In this blog post, we will discuss everything you ever wanted to know about the clutch slave cylinder. As you read through you will learn;
What is a clutch slave cylinder?
What would happen if it starts acting up? and,
How can you tell if a car’s slave cylinder needs repair?
Clutch Slave Cylinder- What Purpose Does It Serve In A Car?
First off, the clutch slave cylinder can only be found in cars with manual transmissions. So, if your Porsche is equipped with a manual transmission, it has a clutch slave cylinder. It basically works in close coordination with the master cylinder to ensure smooth gear shifting in a car. Want to know how exactly it does that?
Well, when you press your vehicle's clutch pedal, the master cylinder will come into action and start exerting pressure on the clutch slave cylinder; which in turn will stretch out a bar to push against a lever to disengage the clutch friction plate from the flywheel. This whole process is required for a smooth gear-shifting process.
If the clutch slave cylinder of your Porsche develops a problem, you won’t be able to shift gears smoothly and efficiently. It is therefore important that you keep an eye on your Porsche’s clutch slave cylinder and if you suspect it has developed a flaw, reach out to a reliable Porsche service center in your locale.
How To Know When Your Porsche Needs A Clutch Slave Cylinder Repair?
Your Porsche will give out a few signs if there is something wrong with its clutch slave cylinder. Some of these signs are listed below, please take a look;
Sign #1- Soft clutch pedal
When you depress your clutch pedal, there should be a little resistance... not much, just a little. If it feels spongy, there is a good chance that your clutch slave cylinder is at fault; most probably because of low fluid level. A spongy clutch pedal may also signify one of many other issues such as air in the clutch line, damaged clutch assembly, defective cable, etc. In any case, if the clutch pedal in your Porsche feels soft, have the clutch slave cylinder inspected by an authorized Porsche mechanic.
Sign #2- Low or dirty hydraulic fluid
The clutch master cylinder relies on hydraulic fluid to pressurize the slave cylinder upon requirement. If there is a crack in either the master cylinder or the slave cylinder, hydraulic fluid will leak out and render the entire clutch segment of your car useless. And, yes… hydraulic fluid will appear dirty and change its color to dark or cloudy if there is something wrong with the clutch slave cylinder. So, if you have noticed that the hydraulic fluid in your Porsche has changed its color to dark or cloudy, check the condition of its slave cylinder.
Sign #3- Fluid leak from front of car
Another common finding in a vehicle with a defective clutch slave cylinder is a fluid leak from the front section of the car. So, if your Porsche is leaking fluid from its front end and you do not know whether it is the hydraulic fluid used in the clutch system or something else, contact a car service center. A professional mechanic will be able to tell what type of fluid it is and why is it leaking. If the source of the leak is a defective clutch slave cylinder, fix it immediately.
Sign #4- Gear hard to shift
Since the clutch slave cylinder plays a crucial role in the gear-shifting process- if it starts acting up, you will find it hard to shift gears in your car. It is also true that hard gear shifting in a car has all sorts of causes and could indicate anything from a low transmission fluid to a fault in the clutch assembly. A mechanic will be able to tell exactly what is going on with your Porsche and why you are having difficulty shifting gears.
Sign #5- Sluggish acceleration
Yup… if the clutch slave cylinder is not working the way it is supposed to, the clutch assembly will not operate properly. As a result, you will have a hard time accelerating your Porsche.
To Wrap Things Up…
A faulty clutch slave cylinder can cause all kinds of problems in a car... from sluggish acceleration to gear-shifting issues. So, if you don't want to suffer from those problems, ensure the upkeep of your Porsche's clutch slave cylinder and make sure it is in good working order.
