Wednesday Headcanons and My Theories for Season 2

HEADCANONS

1. That wasn't Tyler!

It is my personal headcanon that antagonist!tyler is not Tyler but rather a whole other person. After all, the story of Jekyll and Hyde is that they were two people sharing a body: the respectable scientist and the homicidal serial killer. Kinda like Flayed!Billy from Stranger Things; the Hyde, his alter ego is dormant, but once Laurel gives commands, he's activated.

And like the f@#!ing grooming b!+ch she is, Laurel will name it Garret like a creep. I’M SORRY, BUT MY BRAIN THOUGHT OF IT AND NOW IT WON’T LET IT GO!

2. Not a Love Story

Honestly, I feel like a love story so soon into the show, especially a love triangle, was jumping the gun SO MUCH, especially for such a stoic character like Wednesday. It just made no sense to me realistically. Like, maybe after some more ‘evolving’ on Wednesday’s part in terms of friendship, then maybe she could consider ‘romance’ in season two, but as it stands now, it’s just a little weird for me personally.

And in terms of LGBTQA+? I’d headcanon Wednesday as a demiromantic asexual.

My Theories for Season 2

1.Tyler Redemption Arch

With Laurel gone (either dead or incarcerated), Tyler is supposedly left without a master. Or maybe Wednesday’s his new master with her victory over Laurel (kinda like Teen Wolf’s Matt and Gerard). This could leave Tyler to learn to control his Hyde side and maybe make amends with Wednesday and the other Outcasts. I wouldn’t jump back into romance with this story arch, but who knows?

2. Morning Song In Charge

I have a theory that with the dearly departed Principle Weems out of the picture, Morning Song, the mysterious siren cult Bianca’s mother’s involved in might take advantage of the vacuum to earn a couple more dollars, which could mean some sinister changes to the school. Like Umbridge levels of sinister. And Bianca will have to be forced to take a stand for her friends, her Nevermore family, when it goes too far.

3. Looking Through Sunglasses

So, the stalker has been theorised on multiple times and one of suspects with Yoko Tanaka, a vampire student who is not only a member of the Nightshade Society, giving her resources and opportunities, but is also one of the only cast members who doesn’t have much dialogue, or any, during the whole show’s runtime. The only instance we actually see her speak is in the application video.

Not only does her status as a member of the Nightshades give her time and resources, but she was also the one who Enid roomed with when she lost her patience with Wednesday. And with Enid being the go-to gossip hound, I’m sure Yoko soaked up all the information about Wednesday’s investigation and tendencies.

And don’t forget, Rowan Laslow, an excommunicated member of the Nightshades, was antagonistic towards Wednesday before his untimely demise. Maybe Yoko decided to jump on the Wednesday-Be-Gone band wagon after the whole Crackstone scenario, deciding that Wednesday was a force to chaotic to leave unchecked.

So a little friendly warning should go a long way. Right?

4. Goody will be the final antagonist

I don't believe Goody is really gone, not so soon into the game, anyway. Morticia told Wednesday that while Goody was a powerful witch, her vengeance and power consumed her ‘until she couldn’t save herself’. And whilst healing Wednesday, she smiled almost in relief, but not the sort of "yay, I saved you!" relief; more like a "this is working out better than I hoped" relief.

So I believe that as season 2 goes, Goody will slowly come to possess Wednesday's body, taking control and performing her magic once more: all in a nefarious plot to exact her vengeance on Jericho and Normies once and for all. And it'll be up to her Outcast friends to save her and help her fight back, despite Goody claiming that Wednesday was descend to be alone.

Right now, I’m playing it out almost like the boss battle in Scooby-Doo! and the Witch’s Ghost!, where Wednesday is fighting for control, whilst the others are fighting to keep hold of Goody’s Book of Shadows to try and find the spell that will save Wednesday.

The Adventure of the Civil Partnership by Rairakku1234 (M, 94,686+ w., 17/? Ch. || WiP || Fake Relationship/Marriage, Case Fic, Undercover as a Couple, Hurt/Comfort, Romance, Civil Partnership, Serial Killers) – Sherlock and John are hunting a kidnapper who has been taking newlywed couples across the Greater London Area and Sherlock has the perfect way to flush him out.

Ch 16: Victor

Oh? Who's this? He didn't show up the first time Andy took out the card, back in Ch 1 at the warehouse. Maybe because the card was only taken out for a few seconds at the warehouse... or a retcon. It's OK though, first chapters can be that way sometimes.

ANYWAY, this is the guy Shen's been wanting to meet. Victor, Mr. Serious Business. He's much less playful than Andy, and where Andy grins like a kid while he fights, this guy just frowns.

His regeneration is stronger than Andy's, plus he can make clones of himself with Division Bullet.

As far as archetypes (from what we know in this chapter), Victor might be a Ronin-type or the Ace. But I'm sure that he's a Stock Shonen Rival. That's why he contrasts with Andy in such a Jekyll and Hyde way.

And he took Spoil's core so easily! Victor is scary strong.

Shen realizes that Victor is a different person than Andy, and we hear Undead's two selves bickering. That's interesting, but what's crazier is that Victor casually implies:

That he's from a place that has days of the week.

This Earth doesn't.

And sometimes, you have to ask if there are days of the week or not, because that means something(?)

"They've got a half-decent lineup here." <- He's seen multiple lineups? In multiple worlds?

At first, Victor turns on Fuuko, but Shen steps in. Victor kicks him so hard and quick that Shen can't even activate his ability. Shen almost looks like he's enjoying it, which makes sense since he's a Xianxia hero and this experience will surely make him stronger.

When Victor threatens Fuuko, she appeals to Andy.

Which is a pretty decent strategy-- I mean, if Victor can speak aloud to Andy, then surely Andy can hear Fuuko, too, right?

Shen reveals that he promised Andy he'd save Fuuko and beat Victor. Unfortunately, he can't do it by himself, so he's called in the whole Union team!

3. Oh man... I guess Ruseb from The Evil Within, especially in post-tew1 AUs.

6. Book Hyde has high anxiety (idk about the other Hydes). Ok, hear me out, here is my reasoning: 1. Jekyll mentions that Hyde is motivated only by fear and hatred (Ch 10). 2. Hyde talks to himself and bites his nails when he is nervous. (Ch 10) 3. He is easily startled. 4. Bonus: we see at least two occasions of Hyde weeping from fear and despair, shuddering, pacing, etc. This is easy to justify but it does not fit the image of a soulless monster people around him try to create.

16. No idea. Maybe something horror-related again?

21. Former enemies forced to work together. Bonus points for them being on the run.

Also I love hurt comfort, especially if it involves characters finally admitting that they care about each other.

24. Hmm. Gotta be the book editor who analyzed the moon phases in J&H to pinpoint the exact days of the week on which certain events took place. Either this one of the lord of the rings cult leader who performed back alley toe surgery.

Vampire!Lanyon fic ch 8

Title: Come here, listen, and be careful

They did not see The Magistrate the next night, nor the night after. However that’s not what was heavy on Lanyon’s mind.

He had hoped Jekyll would have addressed Hyde when they last met. Yet, when Lanyon brought the criminal up, Jekyll seemed terrified. The man’s heart sounded like a bird frantic to escape its cage, wings beating the bars. It didn’t sit well with Lanyon. What cause had Jekyll to such a reaction? Perhaps he was thinking too deeply. Jekyll could just be in shock over the death of Carew. Yet, there was fear there.

Jekyll has studied law himself, does that mean at some point he went to law school just to spend longer time with Utterson?

Jekyll referred to utterson as “dear” in his final note. I remind you he supposedly ran out of his goods 8 days ago or so, so he saved the last bit to finally fess up to utterson. This is important: he would rather die than let him know how awful he was and even instructed utterson to read lanyon note (and first). Even though this makes sense story wise, it almost feels as though he let lanyon explain his guilt for him so he didn’t have to think about how utterson would react. They have a weird relationship because on one hand, utterson is frustrated that Jekyll still doesn’t understand that he wouldn’t judge him and can be himself with him. When he refused to shit talk lanyon it was out of concern and pushed back what Jekyll was clearly uncomfortable with to discuss his health; meanwhile, Jekyll likely thought utterson perceived his behavior as distasteful (he probably did but knowing Jekyll he obsessed over it) and supposedly didn’t refer to him again for the rest of the conversation. Jekyll just wants to be his best for utterson, because utterson is his favorite and if utterson doesn’t think he’s any good, nothing matters.

“But he had an approved tolerance for others; sometimes wondering, almost with envy, at the high pressure of spirits involved in their misdeeds; and in any extremity inclined to help rather than to reprove.”

“‘I incline to Cain’s heresy,” he used to say. “I let my brother go to the devil in his quaintly own way.” In this character, it was frequently his fortune to be the last reputable acquaintance and the last good influence in the lives of down-going men. And to such as these, so long as they came about his chambers, he never marked a shade of change in his demeanour.”

Utterson, from the beginning, is quite literally made for Jekyll. He helps those who are morally faulty and doesn’t judge them, rather prefers to help them. While Utterson has a decent moral code in place, he clearly likes to help others who do not seem to have the same; and, while he did not know it at the time, this makes his connection to Jekylls misdeeds unique.

This, to me, is at least a sign that if he ever found out, Utterson would be the only character who would be willing to help Jekyll and spare him from his judgment. Furthermore, this deep seated implication of Uttersons forgiving nature makes for an even more upsetting relationship.

“No doubt the feat was easy to Mr. Utterson; for he was undemonstrative at the best, and even his friendship seemed to be founded in a similar catholicity of good-nature. It is the mark of a modest man to accept his friendly circle ready-made from the hands of opportunity; and that was the lawyer’s way. His friends were those of his own blood or those whom he had known the longest; his affections, like ivy, were the growth of time, they implied no aptness in the object.”

I just like this one because of the particular use of the word “affections” and the idea that he has known Jekyll for a very long time, seeing the (implied) worst of him when they were younger. They clearly have something if they’ve stayed together for so long.

Something I believe is worth taking note is also the fact that Jekyll chose Utterson of, all available people, to be his lawyer. Some might say that is was to prevent Utterson taking any offense to Jekyll choosing someone else as his lawyer, but I remind you that if they were truly just friends and business partners, Uttersons has it in his character to forgive this. But I don’t believe this to be the case, rather, I believe Jekyll trusts Utterson and enjoys his company well enough to select him as a lawyer so they may meet and see each-other during business hours as well.

Utterson has a nickname for Jekyll, a shortened version of his name “Harry” which is mentioned a few times and that only he uses in the course of the novella.

He bought him a cane, and clearly took offense when it was broken after seemingly being handed to someone else as well. (Note it was a gift, it’s horrible to take a gift someone gave to you only to give it to someone else, let alone someone the original gift giver dislikes). But, viewing this situation from Jekyll’s perspective, he liked the cane and supposedly found it special enough to carry into his second form when he clearly had the funds to spare to buy his second form another cane.

I think one of the greatest arguments that non-shippers have of this pairing is that Utterson did not know about Lanyon and Jekylls feud. However, Utterson did not show any surprise when Jekyll mentioned him and proceeded to insult him rather childishly. This would seem to imply that Utterson is used to this and Jekylls general breaks in temperament.
