2093 Drabbles - Family- Mika’s Mom
https://archiveofourown.org/works/39651339/chapters/99869352
“Hey, what’s up? You’ve had this weird look on your face ever since breakfast.”, asked Mika as he leaned into Chris’s space.
Chris was sitting on the bench at the garden area of Mika’s parents house enjoying the sunshine in the mid-morning hours when Mika walked out of the house to join him. Mika’s mother, Ritva, had kicked everyone out of the kitchen but Chris had managed to charm her into allowing him to help her with the clean up. Mika had wanted to stay and help but his dad asked for his help to move things around to make more room in the dining area for dinner later that day when more family was coming over.
They were spending a month in Sweden during the summer; something they had done before but this was their first year as an official couple. Their families had been nothing but supportive and actually thought that they were announcing their engagement rather than their relationship at first. It seems like the whole world caught on to their feelings before they did.
Mika notices the tears in Chris’s eyes as Chris pulls Mika towards him to stand between his legs. These didn’t look like sad tears but Mika was concerned nonetheless. “Hey”, says Mika softly as Chris hides his head on Mika’s shirt. Mika’s hands settle gently on Chris’s shoulder and hair as he starts to stroke Chris’s hair soothingly.
“I’m fine, I just need a minute.”, mumbles Chris into Mika’s shirt. “Ok, take all the time you need.”, responds Mika. After a minute of just holding each other, Mika jokes, “My mom didn’t give you a shovel talk, did she? She told me she liked you.”
Chris starts laughing and slowly, he pulls away enough to see Mika’s face. He’s still crying but he looks happy and overwhelmed? “I could have handled a shovel talk better, I think.”, says Chris as Mika start to wipe away his tears. “She hugged me then she cried and told me she loves how happy we make each other. Then she said she loved me and hugged me some more.”, he continues as he blinks rapidly to hold back more tears.
“Oh älskling,” starts Mika, as he pulls away to kneel in front of Chris and bringing them face to face. “I told you they love you. They might love you more than me at this point.”, teases Mika as he kisses Chris forehead.

Hockey au hockey au hockey au-
HOCKEY AU!! I hope anon wanted me to go into great detail on this because that's what I'm going to use this opportunity for X] here's some of my favorite parts of the au:
- the reason xigbar is the captain, not xemnas, is bc xem also kiiind of acts like a manager for the team even while being a goalie (I know that's not irl teams work but who cares)
- I don't have too many lines figured out in my head BUT xigbar/xion/saïx is a KILLER line that can get the puck down the ice super fast– they're usually called in for power plays along with roxas and axel. the main defensive pairing is, as you probably guessed, lexaeus and xaldin. they're part of the main penalty kill team, with demyx and luxord.
- larxene is usually the backup goalie to be used whenever xemnas isn't available (due to injury or otherwise). she has an awesome save percentage, but she will attack players indiscriminately, regardless of their team affiliation. she is known to send people to the hospital.
- saïx's shots on goal can get up to 160 mph because he goes a little berserk when shooting. nobody but axel, xemnas, and xigbar know that saïx was one of the best players in radiant garden's hockey team. he loves hockey so much. every time he gets in a fight xemnas usually has to intervene because he is NOT losing and neither zexion nor vexen can pull him off of whoever he is fighting.
- Did I mention they fight amongst themselves all the time because it is a literal miracle they haven't killed each other yet. demyx accidentally high sticked larxene once and she broke his nose. xigbar is known to use his gravity powers to root people to the ice (especially saïx bc despite being captain and alternate they butt heads all the time) so he can beat them up easier. axel will melt the ice under an opponents feet so they trip and fall. this is the tip of the iceberg
- all the other teams in the league hate them SOOO MUCH. the organization seekers have been kicked out of many major cities but they haven't been removed from the league because they're just that! good! at selling tickets. and playing hockey but also selling out arenas.
- the uniforms (and the team) are based off of the new york rangers (they ARE my favorite team, after all...)! specifically, I used mika zibanejad and chris kreider as models for both saïx and xigbar, and igor shesterkin for xemnas. the other members are either not based on anyone or modeled after multiple players (I think luxord might be based off a couple of Carolina Hurricane players, and axel off of the colorado avalanche right wings..?)
- I'm very inconsistent about drawing the logo but it's a purple heart outlined in white with a crack running from the left side, with a white bandage over the end. larxene's goalie stick says "killer" and xemnas' says "superior".
- they all go out to dinner after they win a game :) it is like one of the only times they are cordial with each other
- typical penalties: xemnas is prone to holding; xigbar gets slashing; lexaeus and xaldin usually get crosschecking calls; saïx racks up all minor penalties but mostly hooking and roughing; axel, demyx, AND luxord all get high sticking calls constantly; marluxia gets charging and boarding penalties all the time; larxene gets fighting, spearing, hooking, holding, etc, etc. xion and roxas barely get any penalties except slew footing and tripping. all of them garner unsportsmanlike conduct penalties to varying degrees.
this is so long SORRY LMAO also here's some bonus hockey doodles i never posted here. the berserker goalie was my sister's idea i think it would be funny if the org used lesser nobodies when they practiced

This Week in Caps: Week 3
Welcome to This Week in Caps, a weekly newsletter where I recap everything important that’s been going on in the world of the Washington Capitals this past week.
This Week’s Games
10/17/18 vs New York Rangers, W 4-3 (OT)
Tumblr media
I hope you like the Caps on Wednesday Night Hockey, because the Caps have hosted that particular nationally televised game for three straight weeks. The Caps took on an old rival in the rebuilding Rangers, and Alex Ovechkin faced Henrik Lundqvist, the goalie he’s beaten more than any other.
The first period was fast-moving, with not a lot of stoppages and little to no shenanigans. Brett Connolly was robbed by Lundqvist, and Mika Zibanejad scored on a rebound in front about six minutes into the game. 1-0 Rangers. The action got going with about seven minutes left in the period; the Rangers had a mad scrum in front of the Caps’ net, and Christian Djoos made a huge save by sweeping the puck off the goalline, keeping a goal off the scoresheet. The defensive efforts paid off about a minute later, when John Carlson scored a booming slap shot goal directly off a Nicklas Backstrom faceoff win, trying the game 1-1.
Shortly into the second period, Ovechkin was back at it again against Lundqvist. On a power play, Carlson kept the puck in the zone and flipped it over to Ovechkin, who slapped a one-timer from the very back of the Ovi Office and caught Lundqvist off guard, giving the Caps a 2-1 lead. But the Rangers would be quick to tie the score, with them getting their own power play and Jimmy Vesey tapping in a goal to make it 2-2. Ovechkin made sure to have the last laugh of the period, scoring yet another one-timer power play goal, eerily similar to the first one, to make it 3-2 Caps.
But the lead wouldn’t last, and Chris Kreider scored a tip-in goal on a power play for the Rangers that tied the score 3-3. And despite everyone’s best efforts, this game would go to overtime.
Evgeny Kuznetsov drove play when he had the puck in overtime, eventually faking at shooting the puck at the net. Matt Niskanen, hovering nearby, dunked home the rebound to score the overtime winner, giving the Caps the 4-3 win.
The Caps outshot the Rangers 38-32 and had the advantage on faceoffs at 53%. Each team went 2/4 on the power play, and Braden Holtby saved 29/32 shots. This game was closer than the Caps probably would have liked, but it’s a win all the same, and the Caps will be happy to take it.
10/19/18 vs Florida Panthers, L 5-6 (SO)
Tumblr media
The Panthers came into this one winles on the season, and the Caps were looking for two in a row. And when all was said and done, this game ended up being a wild one.
Joe Beninati described the Caps’ first period as “sleepy,” and that’s how it felt. Defense was not good, and they just did not look good in the first at all. Vincent Trocheck scored halfway through the period. The Caps responded five minutes later on a John Carlson goal, throwing home a puck in front of the net to make it 1-1. But the Panthers pounded the Caps the rest of the period, scoring the next goal just thirty seconds later. Florida got goals from Evgenii Dadonov, Colton Sceviour, and Jared McCann to make it 4-1 Panthers by the end of the first.
Things changed for the Caps between the first and second periods — Braden Holtby was taken out of the game in favor of Pheonix Copley, and the lines were put in a blender. It seemed to work, as the Caps were completely revitalized and were dominating play, with the defense especially looking a lot better (the Panthers did not get their first shot on Copley until halfway through the period).
They got the comeback rolling with just under two minutes in the frame — Brett Connolly scored on a sharp angle to make it 2-4. Later, the Caps got an odd-man rush and Jakub Vrana scored from his knees to make it 3-4. And just a few minutes later, Devante Smith-Pelly took advantage on a bad bounce off the Panther goalie, and scored on the second shot to complete the comeback and tie the game at 4. The Panthers were also forced to make a goalie change, pulling James Reimer and replacing him with Michael Hutchinson.
However, the Caps were a bit undone by all the penalties at the end of the period. Alex Ovechkin was called for interference against Aaron Ekblad at 17:18 and the Caps were called for too many men at 18:03, giving the Panthers a two-man advantage for 1:15. Matt Niskanen, Brooks Orpik, and Nicklas Backstrom put up a great defensive showing, but the Panthers capitalized and Jonathan Huberdeau scored at 19:09 to make it 5-4 Panthers, and they still had about fifty seconds of power play time. Then the refs didn’t like what Evgeny Kuznetsov said to them and sent him to the box for unsportsmanlike conduct with eight seconds left in the period. The Panthers would start the third with three seconds of five-on-three, and then 1:45 of power play time, which the Caps killed.
The Caps got a power play at 16:52 of the third, and they pulled Copley for the extra attacker halfway through the power play, and Backstrom scored the tying goal, tapping one into the net at 18:35, trying the game at 5. But then Niskanen took a penalty with 23 seconds left in the game, and there was no more scoring in regulation, so the Panthers had just over 1:30 of four-on-three power play time to start overtime. The Caps killed that, and there were no more whistles in overtime and the rest of it was played four-on-four. The Caps had many chances in overtime, particularly a Dmitry Orlov shot off the post, but this game would be decided in a shootout.
The shootout went thus: T.J. Oshie goal, Aleksander Barkov goal, Kuznetsov goal, Nick Bjugstad no goal, Ovechkin no goal, Trocheck goal, Backstrom no goal, Huberdeau goal. The Caps lose the shootout 2-3 and the game 5-6.
The Caps outshot the Panthers 31-30 and were barely beaten on faceoffs, winning 49.2%. They went 1/3 on the power play, while the Panthers went 2/7. Holtby saved just 7/11 shots in his short start, and Copley saved 18/19.
The new third line (Vrana, Connolly, and Lars Eller) looked excellent tonight, and was the most prominent forward line. Orlov also had a couple of very strong looks. Copley was excellent in relief and kept the Caps in the game, even though the Panthers shooters made the rookie look a little silly in the shootout. Were it not for the shootout, he might have gotten his first NHL win.
The game was wildly entertaining, and even though the Caps got down and looked bad early, they showed great resilience in making that three-goal comeback and then tying it yet again late in regulation. This looked like it was going to be a horrible loss, and ending this game with a point is something they’ll gladly take.
Current record: 3-2-2
What’s Going on in the World of the Caps
Wilson Appeal
Tom Wilson met with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman on October 18th to discuss the appeal of his twenty-game suspension. The hearing lasted seven hours, and Bettman’s decision is expected sometime midweek.
Brett Connolly Leaves Yet Another Teammate Hanging
Tumblr media
Remember last year when Kuzy was looking for a fist bump from Brett Connolly, and Connolly left him hanging, resulting in Kuzy fist bumping himself? Well, Friday against the Panthers, Conno left another teammate in the dust, and the victim this time, Jakub Vrana, was left to fist bump himself. This seems to be becoming a trend for Connolly, and if history repeats itself, we may already have the winner of gif of the year. (x)
Special Teams
The Capitals’ power play this season has been absolutely deadly. They’re currently cashing in on an unreal 38.5% of power play opportunities, which is best in the league. The big guns have been doing their job. The penalty kill, however, is stuck near the other end of the spectrum. They’re killing 72.4% of penalties, which is 24th in the league. Ideally, you’d like to be somewhere around 80%, or maybe even 85%, to have a really effective penalty kill. They’ve been letting in too many chances and need to tighten it up a bit. Maybe the loss of Jay Beagle or the absence of Tom Wilson, both excellent penalty killers, is really hurting them, but they’re going to have to do something about it and get better.
Faceoffs
Winning faceoffs? Never heard of her. Overall, the Capitals have won 46.0% of faceoffs, which is 29th in the league. Not good. The funny thing is that not everyone is doing horribly; Nicklas Backstrom is winning 54.5%, which is quite good, and Lars Eller is winning 51.2%, which is not shabby. But Nic Dowd is winning 43.8% and Evgeny Kuznetsov is winning only 36.2%, which is very bad, especially because he has taken the second most draws on the team (after Backstrom). The loss of Jay Beagle certainly hurts in this department, but the centers, especially Kuznetsov and Dowd, need to pick it up. Winning faceoffs can really help possession and even lead directly to goals.
Other Miscellaneous Happenings
Ovi repaired one of his teeth, which was broken in the Stanley Cup Final
Ovi doesn’t need pants
Brooks Orpik was inducted into his high school’s Hall of Fame
Wanna see pics from Casino Night? Here ya go
Player of the Week
Tumblr media
John Carlson is putting up his very early case for the Norris Trophy and reminding people how much of a mistake it was he wasn’t an All-Star and Norris finalist last season. In two games this week, he tallied two goals and two assists for four points. He is second on the Caps in goals, assists, and points, trailing Ovechkin, Backstrom, and Kuznetsov respectively. He is currently the second-highest-scoring defenseman in the league, trailing only Morgan Rielly of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

2093 Drabbles - Telling the team
https://archiveofourown.org/works/39651339/chapters/99867795
One of the things they had to grapple with when they first officially started their relationship was who to tell, what to tell, when to tell and how to tell people. They talked about it so much round and round in circles and Chris, being Chris, had drawn out flow charts and timelines to help make sense of it. Family first, agents next then the team and then the coaches and other support staff.
It wasn’t that they wanted to hide their relationship, neither of them were ashamed of it, it was more of what the rest of the world could and would potentially bring into their lives after it became public. At the end of the day, they’re really just two guys who love each other and love playing hockey. They were still the same people that they were except they were now dating each other.
In the end, all their careful planning didn’t matter. They told their families first - pretty much as soon as they decided they were going to date. A few days after that, after a long game where they won in a shootout, Chris was riding high with the post-game in the locker room but also was so tired that he forgot about being careful and just pulled Mika in for a kiss. Mika didn’t really have enough time to react, decided to just say fuck it and went all in on the kiss.
Everyone in the room didn’t really seem shocked other than to fine them kissing in the locker room and pester them for details on when they first go together so they could know who finally won the betting pool that’s been running on them for years, years. It was King Henrik who won and he bought them a bottle of champagne from his winnings as a congratulations and a thank you as the pot was ridiculous. If anything, their teammates were more shocked over the fact that they had not been in a relationship all this time than the fact that they just started their relationship.
Artemi, Igor and a bunch of the other guys had told them later on that they felt sad that Mika and Chris didn’t seem comfortable being open about their relationship to the team all these years. They didn’t know how to broach the topic so they just stayed silent and hoped that the couple would one day feel safe enough that they could be open with the team. Once the truth came out that they just started dating, the guys just started chirping at them about being idiots who waited too long to get their shit together then took them out for drinks to celebrate.

Chris's wrist surgery - https://twitter.com/NYRangers/status/1540394374961549314?s=20&t=CJgO97bmrXs9jEoXViONyA
“Really, Mika?” asked Chris on facetime.
“What? You thought it too.. You were bitching at me on the phone for hours when it first came out and we weren't on it. It's a good thing you don't use twitter anymore or you’d have tweeted worse, especially since you’re on pain meds”, replied Mika
On the screen, Chris gives him a bitch face and says, “Ehh, maybe..I might switch to regular tylenol tonight. The wrist doesn’t seem so bad today..”
“It doesn’t seem so bad right now because you’re on the good stuff.. You’ll feel it even more if you switch to over the counter shit.”, says Mika. “It’s off season. You don’t need to rush the recovery..”
It really was unfortunate timing that Chris’s surgery had to happen when it did. The surgeon didn’t have another opening until August and by then, Chris’s recovery would bleed into training camp and potentially pre-season so the Ranger’s medical team jumped on it and Chris right away. Chris would also have to deal with wrist pain for that long if they pushed it and Mika wasn’t happy with that thought. In the end, they had to scrap the plans for traveling to Sweden together - Mika would go first so he could celebrate midsummer with his family and Chris would follow in two weeks after giving his wrist some time to recover and get stable.
Chris sighs, “It’s not that.. It’s just that the stuff they gave me makes me loopy and if I’m loopy, they won’t let me travel. If I had thought of it earlier, I could have probably been with you on midsummer instead of being stuck here in New York.”
“You’d have been miserable and in a lot of pain on the plane, Chris. I wouldn’t have let you do it. It was too soon after your surgery and hey, you’ll be flying here soon. It’s just a couple more days so follow the post-surgery instructions and I’ll see you soon”, says Mika.
“I know.. I just miss hanging out, that’s all.. New York doesn’t feel the same without you.”, says Chris softly as if he’s not sure if he should be saying those words out loud.
On the other side of the screen, Chris can see Mika’s face break into a soft smile and the knot in his chest unravels a little. “I know what you mean”, he hears Mika say, “Everyone says I’m moping since you’re not here. They’re all really excited to see you by the way. Nikki is already demanding to ride on your shoulders again since you’re the tallest one among us and Knox wants a ride too.”
“I can’t wait to see them. It’s been too long, Knox looks so big now in the pics you sent. Oh, should I bring them anything? I have time to shop around for something or get it delivered.”, asks Chris as he yawns and carefully stretches out on his couch, mindful of his wrist.
On the screen, Mika gives him a pointed look. “Chris, half the shit I brought back with me in my suitcases were stuff you bought for my whole family. That’s more than enough. You’re spoiling them worse than I am and that’s saying something.”
Chris chuckles, “Well, if they're covered, how about you then? Should I bring you anything?”, teases Chris.
“Just you. You're all I need”, replies Mika.

2093 Drabbles - Aftermath - Part 3 (Kreider/Zibanejad Fic)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/39651339/chapters/99541881
Chapter 3 under the cut
They haven’t really talked about what happens next for them. They really should but there’s a part of Mika that doesn’t want to bring it up in case it means they have to spend their break apart. While they’re both in a stable place mentally and emotionally now that it’s been a few days, the end of their season still stings and well, Mika doesn’t want to be apart from Chris just yet. It’s not that either of them are gonna fall apart if they separate; it’s just that the last few days where it’s been the two of them have been amazing and peaceful, as if the world can’t touch either of them and they can just be with each other.
It seems like a lot to ask Chris to drop everything and go to Sweden with him for the summer and Mika can’t just stay in Boston all summer either. They both have families they need to see and spend time with, not to mention setting up training so they keep in shape or get in better shape for the next season. Would Chris even want to spend the summer with Mika or has the past few days of the two of them living together been enough for Chris to want to leave and have some space to himself?
Or, maybe a compromise - they could spend a few weeks together somewhere, go to Sweden and Boston each for a bit then meet up a few weeks before training camp? He would have to suggest something that would interest Chris. Pulling up google, Mika searches for things to do or places to visit in the US. Chris was still wrapping up his final phone interviews in the living room so Mika had time to research. He had taken his interviews in his music room/office but had finished earlier so he had some time to kill.
Scrolling through the links, Mika finds one that looks promising and before he can chicken out, he texts the link to Chris’s phone. He can still hear Chris talking so it might be a while before Chris see’s it. Mika keeps scrolling through just in case that first suggestion didn’t spark joy. They’re on the road a lot during the season so Chris might not want to do a road trip. They could go to a resort somewhere and just be lazy under the sun? Europe maybe, play tourist for a few weeks?
After a few minutes, Chris comes to the music room and is leaning on the doorway asking, “Why did you send me a link to The 20 Most Beautiful Libraries in the U.S?”. Mika turns from the computer screen to look at Chris, smiles at him and takes a moment just to stare. Chris looks good, rested and without weight on his shoulders. God, he looks so handsome. “Mika?”, asks Chris after a beat.
Realizing that he’s just been staring, Mika clears his throat as he replies, “Throwing out ideas of what we can do this summer. Switch things up a bit. Figured we can do something together first before going back home to see our families. What do you think?”
“Of what? Doing something together or seeing the 20 beautiful libraries in the US?”, replies Chris. There’s a teasing tone in his voice that puts Mika at ease - it seems like he wasn’t the only one who wanted to spend more time together, thank God. Mika shouldn’t have worried about it hindsight. Chris continues, “I mean, do you really want to go on a road trip to see 20 libraries in the short off time that we have?”
“You’ll enjoy it”, shrugs Mika. Without thinking, Mika also says, “I just want to spend time with you.” Shit, why did he say that? At the doorway, Chris’s posture softens and the smile on his face becomes more pronounced. Mika’s face heats up but he refuses to turn away. “We can do other things if you want…”, he mumbles shyly.
Chris is still smiling as he walks into the room to lean against the desk. More like swaggers into the room if Mika is being completely honest. “Well… what if what I want is to go to Sweden with you?, asks Chris. Mika’s brain halts - he’s not sure he’s heard that correctly but at the same time, he’s never been more sure of anything in his life. It feels big and real, like scoring the game winning goal in OT big.
Chris continues, hesitantly and as if he rehearsed it, “It’s been a while since I’ve been to Sweden and I miss your family. Haven’t seen them since quarantine time. Facetime isn’t the same, Nikki’s grown so much bigger and Knox is running around now. I’ll have to come back early to see my family but we can worry about that later. We’ve seen them recently when they came up to watch the playoff games so I don’t think they’ll mind too much. You’ve got trainers lined up there too so we’ll be able to train together too and …”
Mika uses his foot to nudge Chris, interrupting him. “Chris, you had me at Sweden”, says Mika while looking into Chris’s eyes. Feeling brave, Mika reaches out to hold Chris’s hand as he continues, “I want you to. Of course you can come with me. The only reason I didn’t bring it up was because I didn’t think it was fair to ask that of you when I couldn’t do the same for you in Boston.”
Chris takes a deep breath, shoulders loosening as tension drops away from them. Using the hand Mika was holding, he shyly pulls Mika up towards him and into a hug. “Thank you”, Chris says softly into Mika’s shoulder where Chris is resting his head. “You’ll have to show me all the best spots for Fika.” “I’ll show you that and more. Whatever you want.”, replies Mika.

2093 Drabbles - Chris and Mika drabbles post Round Two exit of the Stanley Cup Playoffs 2021-2022 Season.
Loosely connected chapters
Chapter 1 under the cut
It’s been a few hours since the locker cleanout/post-season interviews. They’re both sitting next to each other on Mika’s couch watching some random thing on tv. Chris was still withdrawn and quiet from the interview, since the loss really, that Mika hadn’t wanted Chris to be alone. Mika just grabbed their stuff, tugged on Chris’s arm to make sure he was following him and led them both to his apartment.
In all honesty, Mika hadn’t wanted to be alone either but only if the other person was Chris. Everyone else was too much right now - commiserating with them and telling them how proud of the team they were, how no one expected them to get as far as they did this season and how they’ll be back better and stronger next year. If it was another member of the team, he and Chris would have to be "team leaders" and console that team member. It was a lot and while Mika was proud of them and the team, all he wanted to do was to just be sad about the loss and how their season was over. He and Chris will accept it eventually but they need time to process.
And Chris - Chris was still in his “managing the team” phase. Making sure the other team members were taken care of, pulling everyone aside and making sure they were dealing with the loss well and had plans for the break. He talked to all the support staff - media team, equipment team, coaching team and everyone else and thanked them for their help this season. Mika would bet his entire bank account that Chris hasn’t let himself have a quiet moment in his head. He was probably running the games in his head trying to figure out what they could have done differently and what they could improve on next year.
“When do you leave for Sweden?”asked Chris, breaking the silence in Mika’s living room.
Mika hummed and after a beat, replied “Sick of me already?”. Chris stills for a beat then chuckles, “Never..” And there it is. A soft smile forming on Chris’s face; Mika hasn’t seen a lot of those in the past few days. “You sure?” asks Mika as he nudges Chris’s shoulder. “I’ve been up in your space the last few days. Wouldn’t blame you if you told me to go.”
“If I wanted space, I’d tell you”, says Chris with an annoyed tone as he nudges Mika back. Doubling down, Chris lifts his arm and puts it over Mika’s shoulder pulling him into Chris. Mika shifts on the couch to get into a more comfortable position to lean into Chris and get his arm around Chris’s waist. “I know, I’m just joking. I’m not leaving you anytime soon.”, says Mika. “Good”, replies Chris as Mika feels him rest his head on Mika’s head.
“Might fall asleep on you though”, Mika mumbles as he feels Chris start playing with his hair. “We can nap together. We’ll order dinner when we wake up”, Chris replies. It’s been a long few days but right now, at this moment, it’s perfect.

2093 Drabbles - Aftermath - Part 2 (Kreider/Zibanejad Fic)

Chapter 2 under the cut
“What do you want for dinner? We need to order something, I’m out of food here”, asks Mika while opening up food apps on his phone. Nobody bothered to stock up on groceries during playoffs - you didn’t have the energy to cook or you didn’t have the time. You were at the rink or on the road and the support team would make sure there was food available. Plus, Mika wasn’t sure when he was taking off so it didn’t seem to make much sense to do a grocery run.
Chris replies, “Something lean. I’m not that hungry.” Mika stops and looks up from his phone. He waits until Chris meets his eyes because he wants to make a point. “Chris, the season is over. No more diet plan - we’re pigging out. So, try again, what do you want for dinner?”
“Oh, right. Season’s over, I forgot”,says Chris as his voice tapers off. Fuck, this is not what Mika was going for. He had gotten Chris to soften up after their nap and now, Mika might have just ruined it. He has to fix this before Chris gets too into his head again - “Let’s just get everything.”
“Huh?”, asks Chris thrown off, “What do you mean by everything?”
“I mean everything. Everything we’ve been craving for during the season that we couldn't eat because it wasn't in our nutrition plan. Chinese, Thai, Greek, Vietnamese, Pizza, Pasta - let’s order everything and have our own little buffet here. Desserts too; cake, donuts, ice cream - the works.”
Chris's eyes soften as he looks at Mika with fond exasperation. He makes his way over to stand next to Mika and grabs Mika’s phone from his hands. He says, “You know there’s only two of us, right? We can’t eat that much and you’ll have a lot of leftovers. Not to mention, our stomachs would hate us if we really ate that much.”
Mika replies, “My fridge is empty so there’s no space issues. The leftovers just means we won’t have to order anything else for the next few days and our stomachs have handled worse. This way, we can just do nothing and be lazy for the next fews days and not have to worry about food.”
“Next few days? You’re gonna spoil me and I’ll never want to leave.”, teases Chris
“In case you haven’t noticed, dumbass, that’s kind of the point.”, replies Mika, mood turning serious. Nudging Chris’s shoulder, he continues softly as he’s suddenly unable to meet Chris’s eyes, “I’m not ready for you to go back to Boston and leave me.”
“Hey. Hey, Look at me.”, Chris says as his fingers reach out to Mika’s chin to tilt it upwards towards him. “You don’t have to bribe me to stay, Mika. I want to be here and I don’t want to leave you yet either. Ok?”. Mika nods ok as Chris continues to look in his eyes as though he's searching for something. He only lets go of Mika’s chin when he finds what he was looking for and Mika’s not entirely sure what it was.
Unlocking Mika’s phone, Chris scrolls through the food app Mika previously opened. “How about we get two or three different things for tonight and go from there. We can decide tomorrow what we feel like eating tomorrow and the days after that.”
“Sounds good, what do you want for tonight then?” asks Mika as he leans into Chris to see the phone screen. “Nope, I asked first so you get to decide tonight”, Chris replies teasingly. “Technically I asked first '', starts Mika as the two of them start this familiar song and dance on picking what to eat.
