Brief response to this fandom on fandom hate, since I know it’s a real damper on folks’ enjoyment:
You ARE a Tolkien fan. If you enjoy this show, which is made by fans of Tolkien for fans of Tolkien and they are adapting it the best they can within the licensing limitations available, well... That makes you a Tolkien fan. Other folks can’t say this specific adaptation is invalid when all past adaptations faced a lot of hate as well before their widespread acceptance. (I was there, Gandalf.)
It’s ok to still enjoy the show despite having your own opinions on things you’d change or personal headcanons. Having criticisms or personal interpretations of something you’ve consumed doesn’t make you a “bad fan”, either.
Similar to the above, if something in it doesn’t bother you even though it bothers others, that’s also chill! Fandom is bettered by a variety of opinions and interesting discussion points, not a uniform groupthink that stifles creativity and breeds toxicity.
Block the hate tags. I have like 20 or so blocked now, anywhere from #trop critical to #galadriel sucks. They aren’t worth your time. Also use applicable tags of your own to help other folks find your stuff and/or filter if it’s not their cup of tea. It all helps!
Group chats amongst friends are great spaces to discuss things bothering you if you’re like me and tempted to respond to something you don’t like or that’s bothering you. Air it out before jumping to escalate the situation.
Everyone has their own baseline for making creative works and how quick or slow or experienced that process is. It’s best not to feed inner demons and compare yourself to others if you’re prone to impostor syndrome. Fandom is for fun; post the thing!

Alright universe, I've lived in your idea of "interesting times" basically my entire life and at this point I can safely say that sometimes I daydream of an AU where I manage a tiny pharmacy in a quiet village somewhere in the mountains and my partner and I foster kittens and work in our vegetable garden on the weekends

Trahearne,
Thank you for your faith in us. I’m not sure I believe it quite yet, but I’m excited to see where my life goes. I told Sieran as well, and she says hello. She said a good deal more than that, actually, but after five minutes I told her to write her own letter.
We’re off probation already, but we don’t have a mission yet. Sieran wants to get back out in the field, but Gixx told Sieran not to push it, so Sieran is showing me things like the classification system for the archives, where and how we store all the artifacts, other things I expected we’d cover before going out and fighting to reclaim an artifact from the Svanir. I’m enjoying the rest, to be honest. I’m still having trouble with the cold.
Oh, I also found your armchair, I think! Is it the one built for a norn, by the shelves on Orrian history and mythology? If so, I have to say I like your taste. It’s so large it’s basically a bed, and there’s enough furs to cover me head to toe twice over!
As for the Sanguinary blade, it’s safe in our storage vaults, although I can’t tell you which. Sieran and I also found the original scabbard, which contains the dragon corruption, so it’s safe to handle at least. I’m also glad we found it. Perhaps someday I’ll be able to reclaim that spear as well. Kralkatorrik’s corruption scares me more than Jormag’s. I don’t want to think of what would happen if that spear was found by the wrong wielder.
Orr sounds like nothing I’ve seen. I have a hard time even picturing it. Coral in the ruins? I barely know what coral looks like by itself. I went to look for drawings, of course, but they give you no sense of color or scale. And Zhaitan’s influence is sure to change things even further. I know it’s hard to really capture it all in words, but would you try? For one, Cinnia is out on an extended mission, and honestly, I’d rather hear from you anyway. Or see it myself. I’m sure her perspective is interesting, but most people here do not speak so favorably of Orr. I can tell that it’s special to you.
Please stay safe. I’m glad you get to go back, but I do worry about you so close to the dragon. Feorylle

Hey, you there.
Yes, you, blogger or Youtuber who’s trying to make clout for yourself by reviewing things that are popular to hate on because it helps you get paid in this late stage capitalist hellscape:
Hi, hello. You might have noticed this relatively large fanblog in the tags for this fandom. Yes, there’s a real person behind it.
Assuming you aren’t just making a video to rehash the same Rings of Power hate everyone else has said and that you are actually a person of your word who is trying to review it with “an objective, unbiased lens” and that you have indeed “done in-depth research on the show and its background” that doesn’t just consist of consuming other things within an echo chamber, I’d like to offer a possible source of content and interest that makes you stand out from all the others who are parroting the same stuff.
That is, I’d like to suggest that you ask current fans of the series specifically why it is they like the series.
A not insignificant amount of both tumblr and youtube commenters are making a lot of assumptions about fans that are largely unfounded and are poorly researched. You need someone who doesn’t ship the most popular ship? Cool, I can connect you to multiple. You need a Tolkien scholar? Awesome, we have them. You need costume experts? We know several who also (surprise, surprise) love the show. You need people who vividly remember all the backlash against the Peter Jackson LotR films? That’s like half the fandom, darling. You need [insert whatever fanbase opinion to discuss here]? We’ve got you covered.
Because largely these reviews are neglecting to actually, you know, talk to us. You’d probably learn more from us than you’d think! But what do I know, I’ve only been running this blog for like 5 months and blocking people who come into our main tags with bad faith arguments pretty much every day.
And if you’re a Rings of Power fan who’d like to share what you like about the show with these folks, feel free to say so in the notes. We’re not going anywhere.

Mae Govannen!
Hard to believe that it’s already been two months since the finale and that there are almost 400 of us and already over 1000 posts on this blog! I have a huge backlog of fan-made content (art, videos, gifs, fun meta, etc.) that I’d like to feature in between the quotes to share the love, especially now that the fandom tags are growing quieter.
But never fear if you’re mostly here for the funny or poignant quotes: We have like two years and I have literally so much quote inspo to get through + quotes made by other lovely fans I’d like to reblog!
Thanks for being a part of this fandom in 2022!

Thanks for tagging, @meohme-thedorklord and @ichabodjane
Rules: tag people you want to know better (or really given who I'm tagging, snooping on what they're up to 👀). Original tag was for 9 people and I'm ignoring that but feel free to do 9 for the Fellowship if that tickles you. Also this account is a sideblog.
Last song: Possession Island by Gorillaz
Last movie: Ever After
Currently watching: ...had to actually think about this one bc I either watch things in a week or take literal years to finish a single season. Anyway: "Lockwood & Co"
Currently reading: Just caught up with the Novae webcomic, am in the middle of Gideon the Ninth, and really keen to reread In Other Lands at some point. Or read any other Sarah Rees Brennan books or stuff by other comedic writers, really. But I'll probably read more manhwa first :D (Men of the Harem. Please read it!)
Current obsessions: Stardew Valley, Sumikko Farm, moving, TROP, moving, trying to remember how to finish a fanfic, eating pho, trying not to go spare from moving...
Tagging with zero pressure at all, feel free to ignore me: @arondirslovechild @coeurvrai @discountalien-pancake @longsightmyth @faithfire @kitsunewill @anomaliewrites @kathrynabbott @donovan-contingencies @agardenandlibrary

A favor requested of this fandom, please: I realize there's quite a bit of overlap between this fandom and House of the Dragon fandom due to the timing of when the shows aired so some things that are the norm and okay to chat about in HOTD fandom are spilling over into Tolkien fandom spaces.
Here's the request: If y'all are casually mentioning incest or incest vibes or incest ships, please tag it i.e. #cw incest or #cw incest mention etc. This is a MAJOR squick for a lot of people. I sleuth the main tags every day to find content for this blog and do have as many tag filters on as I can think of, but it doesn't work to filter if it ain't tagged. Por favor, please use tags! That's how this blue hellsite functions and I'd really, really hate to have to block more folks in this fandom outright🙏

If Oropher ever shows up in The Rings of Power, everyone will be like, “not this asshole.” And it will be because of this blog 😂
Hi Nonny, apologies but I'm not sure what you mean? Perhaps this was intended for a different ROP fanblog? Just checked my Oropher tag and there's not much in the way of posts there since I'm mainly posting about the known ROP cast + Anárion, Celeborn, Celebrían, and Círdan. No worries if sent by mistake :)

Feorylle,
I have been free of the Krytan nobility for a full week and I finally feel my mind recovering from the boredom. We left just after I sent you my last letter, taking the gates to Lion’s Arch and then going south by boat. It’s slow going through all the risen and the pirates, but we’ve made it to our camp at Signal Peak. You’re lucky I caught the courier in Sparkfly Fen; she was loathe to go any further south than the Vigil fort there without an actual address. I hope someday we can get a waypoint down here, it will make the mail much faster since I won’t have to hope the couriers are as crazy as my teams and I are.
To answer your question about the queen, I can’t say that I know her well at all. She’s kind and appropriately regal, I suppose, but we’ve never really spoken outside of business. It’s more that meeting royalty is something you try not to forget, because it’s awkward if you don’t recognize them the next time you speak.
I’m relieved that it was you (and the priory) who got the Sanguinary blade in the end. It’s too powerful to be in use by individuals with no regard for others’ lives. It’s also not the only dragonsblood weapon in existence—the spear Destiny’s Edge hoped to use to kill Kralkatorrik was made of its blood. It too is lost, somewhere in Elona I think.
Sieran clearly hasn’t changed. I did say she’d teach you about rule-breaking, didn’t I? But I know you two will be formidable together. You both have good heads and even better hearts, and I stand by my assertion that she’ll teach you everything she knows, if not in the most useful order. You’ll be off probation in no time, and I’m sure Sieran will keep you occupied until you are, although I can’t guarantee you won’t get in trouble in the meantime. I’ve heard it’s a hazard of working with her. Do tell her I say hello, if you get the chance.
I’d tell you about Orr, but I doubt I’d do it any more justice than the books did. It’s hard to put into words. I feel closest to my Wyld Hunt here, and it’s as if the very air makes me feel more focused. It’s also beautiful, in a way that I don’t expect others to understand. Ancient ruins and giant coral intertwined into the same structures, undersea overgrowth on land. It’s breathtaking, in more ways than one. The views are stunning, and the smell of the risen and the salt-rot is equally indescribable.
I feel that my words are failing me. You can also ask Cinnia, if you can find her, and she might be able to tell you more. She’s an explorer studying Orrian lore, and she’s been on expeditions with me before. Or, maybe you’ll get to come with me on an expedition someday instead. I’ve worked with the priory before, and hope to do so again. It’s much more enjoyable than getting funding from the humans, even if the rations are worse. The scholars get so excited even if all we bring back is mold.
I’m worried about Caithe too. We’ll just have to trust her.
I’ll do my best to stay out of trouble. I can’t make guarantees either, since this is the dragon’s territory, but somehow I still feel I’ll have better luck than you with Sieran.
I cross the strait tomorrow. It’s been too long. Trahearne

A Continuation of Grad School Shenanigans Or: How I Got A Public Speaking Request Without Trying
Since the days are getting sunnier and longer where I am, my sleep schedule has shifted over the past month from “sleeping through 8 AM classes and making them up at 6 PM” mode to “surprisingly not murderous at 6 AM anymore, especially with the addition of homemade iced coffee”.
I didn’t fully realize how powerful this might be in the right context until I managed to get up super early again today, the first day after finals*, and ended up being the only student to show up for a fairly early meeting with faculty to give my (mostly) unedited feedback on grad school life and the program.
For all you stats nerds, that means I was an n = 1, and that I essentially got to be an unofficial (and almost certainly biased) spokesperson for my entire class.
And because I somehow didn’t flub that up with my finals-addled brain and managed to form some coherent thoughts to share with them, I might be returning to speak to the entire PY1 class next fall to give my Life Pro Tips for surviving pharmacy school**.
My public speaking professor from undergrad would be so proud.
*”Why Cinnia, why?” you ask, wondering why I would cause myself so much pain. My answer, dear followers, is that I’m surviving on protein shakes, falcon eggs, and rocks and time ain’t gonna wait for me or anybody to get stuff on my “shit to do” list done.
**An introvert? Speaking to a group of more than 150 people? It’s more likely than you think!
