Erewhon, 475 S Lake Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101
Tumblr media
Erewhon opened store #10 in Pasadena on September 13, 2023. The building, a former Borders, had been vacant for many years. Long before it was Borders, it was an I Magnin (pretty swanky for Lake Avenue). The upstairs is occupied by a childcare center and medical/wellness boutique.
As a Certified B Corporation and a luxury organic grocer, Erewhon has come to embody the posh wellness lifestyle that seems to appeal to many of the LA elite and aspiring wellness elite. They only carry products that are “free from artificial preservatives, synthetic pesticides, ripening agents, growth hormones, irradiation, fumigants, fungicides or other additives. Any processing, packaging or transportation and storing must also ensure the retention of maximum nutritional value.”
The produce displays are so immaculate that it feels wrong to remove an item from the display. Love the cut flowers too.
Their deli/prepared foods are really good and they don’t skimp on expensive ingredients. Plus, they accommodate many types of diets (e.g., gluten-free, Keto, raw, vegan, soy-free, etc.) In the prepared foods area, they have grab and go items like prepackaged salads, sushi, desserts, dips, sides, sandwiches, quesadillas, burritos, wraps, etc. There’s a hot soup bar. You can also get a plate of food (sold by weight) from their prepared foods area or a slice of pizza. There’s also a smoothies/coffee/tonic bar that seems very popular. The smoothies are $15 - $19 and customizable.
Look for the Erewhon line of candles, skin care, bottled water, etc. They make their own juices, wellness shots, soups, dressings, bread, bagels, nut bars, nuts, coffee, etc. They also carry great brands (some of which I haven’t seen elsewhere) like San Diego Tempeh, Sconeage granola, Tartine, etc.
My picks
Shaman Raman ($7.99): instant organic vegan ramen that’s adaptogenic and a superfood. That's $8 for one cup of instant noodles. The broth was nice and savory without being salty but the amount of rice noodles was so small that it could only be considered a small snack. Shaman Raman is $6.99 at Bristol Farms.
Rawmyun ($4.99): instant ramen that’s plant-based, non-GMO, all-natural and made with rice noodles
Habiza hummus ($5.99): Mr. Froyo liked it. They carry the same brand at Bristol Farms (and for the same price)
Veggie combo plate ($19/lb): my lunch which consisted of three salads was $25. Every salad was fresh, and delicious: Thai kelp noodles (really good dressing, soft thin noodles), fresh corn and avocado with dandelion greens (lots of fresh sweet corn kernels), beet salad with hazelnuts, feta, and arugula (lots of hazelnut, big chunks of feta, big sweet chunks of beets)
There is no indoor seating area but they have an outdoor patio with tables and chairs. A paid membership is available. They probably have valet parking.
4 out of 5 stars

Just a Friend
Sorry you’ve had to wait a few more days. i had a much needed few days holiday in Devon. And I realised it was the first time since February that I’d travelled more than 20 miles from home!
Anyway, we’re on to chapter 7. Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy
Thanks to @wickedgoodbooks for the beta.

Chapter 7: From Feedback to The Force
I can see it clearly in my mind’s eye. A converted barn, situated at the end of a leafy country lane, surrounded by fields full of cows and maybe a horse or two. Jamie’s office will be at one end— all exposed beams with classic mahogany and leather furniture. Perhaps chickens will be roaming around outside as tractors pull up to deliver vegetables straight from the neighbouring fields.
This image begins to fade as I follow my Sat nav instructions and take the next junction off the motorway. Country lanes look to be few and far between in this urban sprawl. Signposts along the tarmacked road point to a series of industrial estates. At the fourth such sign, I’m instructed to turn left and in three hundred yards will have reached my destination.
Having parked up, I make my way towards the large, uninspiring building which resembles some sort of aircraft hangar. Its grey concrete and corrugated iron walls match the overcast sky and the roughly surfaced car park. The only colour in this landscape is provided by the bright orange FraserFood logo emblazoned above the loading bays.
There’s a single door to the right with an intercom. I press it and wait a few seconds.
“Hello, there.” A cheery voice greets me. “Can I help ye?”
“Yes. Hello, I’ve an appointment with Ja— Mr. Fraser, Jamie. It’s Claire Beauchamp.”
“Aye, come on through. Jamie is expecting ye. Down the passage and third door on the left.”
I step into a long corridor, painted an unoriginal white. Fluorescent strip lights hanging from the ceiling cast a harsh brightness. The floor is covered with grey carpet tiles.—the same as in thousands of other working offices across the country.
What sets it apart and brings character to the otherwise anonymous environment is the artwork. Colourful photographs line the walls — a bowl of strawberries, their red glossiness accentuated by the white porcelain; a perfect corn on the cob, rivulets of melted butter flowing around the kernels; a plate of steaming tagliatelle, the parmesan shavings falling gently onto the pasta. Then, as I move further towards the office, the photographs change to a series of images that I instantly recognise, La Boqueria, one of the food markets in Barcelona.
I pause for a moment in front of a picture of one of the stalls selling spices. Strings of different chillies cascade down from the metal frame of the stall. The vibrancy of that market was intoxicating, the noise, the colours, the aromas. I remember wandering from stall to stall snacking on fat, juicy olives, slices of spiced ham and wedges of refreshing melon, just soaking up that atmosphere.
My stomach automatically rumbles at the memory just as Jamie steps into the corridor.
He laughs at this unconventional greeting. “And good day tae ye too. Ye found us alright then?”
“No problem. Sat nav brought me straight here. It’s—“ I stop myself before I say any more, but, as usual, my glass face gives me away.
“C’mon. What is it? It’s no’ what ye were expecting, is it?”
“No— yes—no. It’s fine. It’s just, well, I was expecting something more, er, rural… rustic, you know.”
He sighs, but I can tell that he’s not offended. “What, ye mean like on a farm? Wi’ chickens running around? And tractors bringing the vegetables straight from the fields?”
I nod, feeling not a little bit foolish.
“And down a wee winding country lane, that yer lumbering great vans and lorries have tae drive along? Wi’ no easy transport links fer all the deliveries? And having tae deal wi’ all the food hygiene standards in some great old barn?” He laughs. “Trust me, it may no’ be photogenic but it’s the best place fer the business.”
He takes my arm. “Let’s go intae ma office and I’ll make ye a cup of coffee.”
My stomach rumbles once more. “Don’t suppose you’ve got any of those lovely Spanish biscuits too, have you?”
*********
The display of colourful photographs continues in Jamie’s office. I don’t recognise the scenes, but, I’m guessing these are more local— fields of corn bordered by old drystone walls, hedgerows bursting with dark jewel-like brambles. I pause at a picture of an ancient stone mill, the calm water of the mill pond reflecting the rundown building perfectly.
“That’s a bonny picture, is it no’?” Jamie’s voice is low in my ear.
I turn around. He is standing behind me, gazing intently at the picture.
“It is. Where is it? I’m guessing it’s somewhere here in Scotland.”
“Aye, it’s the old mill at Lallybroch.”
“Where you grew up?”
He nods. “Generations of ma family used that mill tae grind flour fer them and their tenants. It’s empty inside now. The wheel has long since rotted away. Jenny and I would escape there whenever chores were tae be done. She took the photo, weel, most of the photos here actually.”
I study the photograph more closely. “She’s very talented as a photographer. Is that her job?”
“She’d love tae have done that, but once she married Ian and the bairns started appearing, she hasna got the time. Mebbe one day.”
He moves past me towards his desk and I catch a hint of his musky cologne. I find myself comparing it to the slightly synthetic cologne that Frank always favoured. I decide that Jamie’s is preferable. It’s more real, somehow, earthy and, well, more masculine.
“... does that sound ok?”
I realise that whilst I was considering male scents, Jamie had been asking me a question. “Er, sorry, I was miles away. What did you say?”
“Am I really that boring tae ye?” He laughs. “I said I would make ye a coffee and invite Rupert tae come in and join us. He’s our Head of Product Development. Will ye no’ take a seat?”
I sit down on one of the chairs arranged around a circular meeting table and take a good look at the office while Jamie makes a phone call. The walls and ceiling are the same uninspiring white, livened up by all the photographs. There’s a couple of framed photographs near Jamie’s chair that seem to be more personal. I’m too far away to be able to see clearly, but they look like children... his nephew and niece perhaps?
Jamie’s ‘L’ shaped desk is made of grey wood, as is a tall bookcase and this meeting table. Simple, but clearly a considered purchase, no haphazard grouping of random furniture. The desk itself is remarkably free from clutter— just a laptop with two huge screens and a black leather document wallet. The contrast to the clutter on the desks in my office and home couldn’t be greater. Not that my clutter isn’t important to me—a collection of pots and dishes from my uncle’s archaeological digs plus a paperweight and letter opener that I remember, as a young child, at my parents’ house. Then I realise, looking at the family portraits surrounding Jamie’s desk, that he doesn’t need to gather mementoes from the past. He has a living, breathing close knit family creating memories all the time.
I’m well aware that most of my friends have more of a family than I have, or have ever had, and generally I’m fine with that. But every now and again it hits me right in the gut—this pang of...not loneliness, but more of being disconnected, rootless.
Before I can dwell on this,  there’s a faint tap at the door. It opens immediately and a woman stands in the doorway.  She’s easily past retirement age, quite short and… is sturdy a polite descriptor? Well, short and ‘motherly’ in appearance.
She’s very smiley too. Her eyes crinkle as she grins broadly before speaking. “Jamie, lad. I’ve come tae see if ye both want a coffee. I dinna mind making it. And mebbe a few biscuits?”
Jamie steps away from his desk. “Ah, Mrs. Fitz, how d’ye always ken what I want? Coffee would be grand. And fer ye Claire?”
“Coffee, please. Lovely. White, no sugar. Thanks.”
She looks at me for a moment before Jamie makes the introduction. “ Claire, this is Mrs Fitz. She’s worked wi’ me since I started and I dinna ken what I’d do wi’out her.”
He reaches across and pats her arm gently.
“Mrs. Fitz, this is Claire, a friend of mine. She’s been trying out our Spanish dinner party menu and has come tae meet wi’ Rupert tae give him her opinions.”
“Nice to meet you, Mrs. Fitz.” I hold out my hand.
She takes it in both of hers. “And it’s lovely tae meet ye too, Claire.”
She turns away and heads out the door.
“Right-oh. Two coffees it is then,” she says clearly, then carries on muttering under her breath as she leaves. “Friends, is it, then? A bonny lass, sure enough…”
Jamie smiles apologetically. “Mrs. Fitz can be a bit, weel...she’s been working with me a long time. She’s like a second mother tae me…”
He leaves the sentence unfinished, but I know what he’s thinking. Why can’t people understand that we’re friends, that’s all?
*******
Rupert is a complete delight, but somehow not what I was expecting. He rushes into the office just as Jamie and I are drinking our coffees. Nearly as tall as Jamie but quite a bit broader with a large beard, like an overgrown teddy bear, and clad in a sweatshirt and baggy ill-fitting jeans, he looks as if he would be more at home on a rugby pitch rather than in a development kitchen. With Jamie now standing next to him, the office suddenly feels rather small.
Jamie makes the introductions and we settle once more around the table. Rupert places his notebook and pen on the table.
“Ye dinna mind if I take a biscuit or two, do ye?” He asks, with a smile. He knows how tasty they are.
Jamie and I shake our heads and Rupert reaches out and takes two in his large, fleshy hand. He starts to eat, sprinkling crumbs all over his notebook.
“Ye canna take me anywhere,” he says as he tries to sweep the crumbs into his hand.
Jamie laughs and playfully punches Rupert’s shoulder. “Weel, ye can… but only the once, mind.”
There’s an easy camaraderie between the two of them. I’m guessing that Jamie has worked with the same people for quite a while. It’s good to see.
Rupert swallows, picks up a tissue and wipes the stray crumbs from his beard.  “Right-oh. So, Claire, thanks fer doing this—“
“No, I should be thanking you. It was a great meal.”
“Weel, glad tae hear that, but I would appreciate any improvements we could make. Is there anything we need tae change?”
I’ve been racking my brains all the way here, trying to think of something constructive to say rather than just reeling off a list of compliments, nice as that would be for Rupert and Jamie. And, honestly, I don’t know what more I can add. The food was excellent, the wine matched perfectly and the olives were a thoughtful addition.
I tell them all this and Rupert solemnly notes it all down. Sitting there, side by side, elbows almost touching, they look for all the world like two proud parents being complimented on their child’s talents. But they have every right to be proud.
“And nothing else?” Rupert persists. “Nothing we could do better?”
“Well, a couple of tiny suggestions. Maybe a few more pictures with the recipes would help. I’m not the most gifted cook.”
Out of the corner of my eye, I notice Jamie trying to suppress a smile. He’s never seen me in the kitchen, maybe he’s imagining me as some sort of culinary disaster area. I vow to prove him wrong at some point.
“And,” I continue as Rupert scribbles in his notebook. “Perhaps add a couple of suggestions to complete the Spanish night. I made sangria to start the evening. Could you add a recipe for that?”
Rupert closes his notebook with a flourish. “Right then. Thank ye sae much fer that. Glad yer friends all enjoyed the food.”
He stands up, shifting the table as he does so.
“Weel, bye then, Claire. Lovely tae meet ye. Hope tae see ye again.” He shoots a quick look across at Jamie before leaving.
“Rupert’s a lovely guy,” I comment as the door shuts behind him.
“Aye, he is that,” Jamie shifts in his seat. “Listen, I need tae ask ye a favour.”
“Another one,” I joke. “Wasn’t the dinner party enough?”
I add a sigh, purely for dramatic effect.
“Ye can say no if ye want tae,” he continues. “But I was wondering… weel... Ian, that’s Jenny’s husband, his rugby club is having a charity dinner dance a week on Saturday. Jenny’s bought two tickets fer me and a plus one. D’ye fancy it? It would help me out of a wee bit of bother with ma sister.”
Now I’m intrigued about his “wee bit of bother” with Jenny. I don’t want to end up in the middle of some sibling squabble.
“How so?” I’m not giving an answer straight away. At least not until I know what the bother is.
“Jenny bought the two tickets fer me a couple of months ago. I think she was assuming I would bring Laoghaire. But ye ken what happened there. Anyways, she asked me yesterday about it, and ever so casually suggested I might bring Kelly— that was ma date the other night.”
The pattern of Rupert’s crumbs on the table appears to suddenly be of great interest to him. He studies them intently as he talks, his ears turning slightly pink as he does so.
“And?” I prompt him.
“And, I told Jenny that after Laoghaire and I broke up, I didna want tae disappoint her about the dinner and so I’d already asked ye tae come along. As a friend,” he hastily adds the last part.
So, what do I decide? I do love the opportunity to have a bit of a dance and rugby club dos are usually a bit of a laugh, in my experience. And of course, I know Jamie is offering as a friend, so I’m not worried about that.
“Why don’t you want to ask Kelly then?” I want the full story before I give him my answer.
“She’s a nice enough lass but I didna think we had any spark. Plus she was trying too hard. Fer example she asked me what films I liked, then when I told her, she was all ‘no way, they’re ma favourites too’.”
He adds gestures at this point, to demonstrate Kelly’s actions, one hand flapping excitedly, the other resting on my sleeve, lightly stroking through the fabric of my shirt. It feels—
“Apparently we have exactly the same taste in films, music, food, drinks, television and holidays,” he continues as he sits back and folds his arms.
“Sounds like a match made in heaven to me.” I joke. I can still feel the sensation of his hand on my arm.
He looks up at me and frowns. “I’m no’ joking. Ye would be helping me if ye came as ma plus one.”
“Ok then. I do know that I’m not on call. I can come and be your wingman, if you like. Just one question. What are your favourite films?”
“Star Wars.”
This wasn’t the answer I was expecting. He doesn’t seem like a typical fan. Maybe he has a dark side that I haven’t yet seen, with a secret stash of Star Wars figures and multiple light sabres.
“I’ve never watched any of them.” It’s true. I seem to be in the minority but I just don’t get the appeal.
“And I can tell from yer face exactly what ye think of them. But they’re classics, weel most of them, anyway,” he starts to enthuse.
I shake my head. I can’t see that he will ever convince me.
“Well, Sassenach, have I got a treat in store for you!”
And, worryingly, it seems that he’s up for the challenge.

Today was great and Im only frustrated that my lip has gotten worse again. I think from the friction from my mask and the heat all day made it worse. But my whole mouth area hurts and it sucks. Honestly, I am also just very sore. We did a lot of walking in the sun today!!
I didn't sleep great last night. I had weird nightmares again and I woke up with my lip all covered in dry blood. I was pretty upset about it and it would only get worse. I tried my best to baby it but there was only so much I could do.
I got washed up and dressed though. I was super excited for costume. I would end up wearing my corset open because it was a lot warmer then I expected. But I felt so cute. I loved how I did my hair, with two twisted braids under my headband. I was very pleased. My makeup would mostly wear away half way through the day but I still felt really good about it. James put on their costume so we could see how it looked before we left, just in case something had to change. But I think they looked great. The new shirt is so good and loots great on them. They would wear a regular shirt for the drive, so I put all our accessories and their costume in a tote bag to bring with us.
I was in a really chill mood overall. Jess was texting me all upset about feeling rushed and things not working the way she was hoping but I was chill and tried to give her some of that energy.
We left here and went to Mcdonalds before we drove the hour and a half to the ren faire.
And it was a good drive! The way there we made great time, we listened to a few episodes of the story podcast we listen to on long drives. We had lots of laughs because I kept saying dumb shit and James would tease me but in the best way. It was a good ride.
Jess was worried about the parking line but we got there a little after 1030 and there was no line at all! And they pulled in minutes after us!
It took us all a few minutes to get our costumes right and get ourselves together. But Jess and her brother and sister-in-law would come over to us and then we would all go in together.
We got in really fast. And for real it was barely crowded. Like there were crowds but nothing like Ive experienced in the past. We barely had to wait for anything. When we first got there we got lemonade and played with some photo opp things. I had a great time walking around and was for sure the leader of the day.
I would just lead us to what I thought was good. James was there for whatever and Jess didn't have anything specific. We didn't know what any shows were so we only ended up going to one. Which was the mud pit show. Which I always love. We caught a little of a few other shows but we should have probably planned that better. We did get to see the mermaids which was very cool though. She even had fangs.
I loved seeing people's costumes. And we ate a lot of different things. I had a smoothie. Me and Jess shared a pickle. Jess and James each had turkey legs. I had a baked potato. We would have kettle corn and I got a little sandwich. They got coffee and James shared an apple muffin with me. It was such a food day and it was great.
We didn't buy much beyond food. I did get to do things I never got to before. I got to do the gemstone panning thing. I have always wanted to do that but it always seemed expensive but it was $15 and I got some awesome stones and really had a great time. And James got me one of those copper roses and I always wanted one of those. So it was pretty great.
We would do a lot of walking. A lot of people watching. Going in shops. Enjoying the company. We watched the glass blowing demo. We got James sized for a kilt and the men who ran that place were so excited that were getting married. They apparently also do rentals and gave us their card so we can get something for James that we know is nice. I think we even know the color.
I really had a great day. I was tired but like in a good way. We went to the dungeon and read about all the scary things people did to each other. James found someone's wallet?? So we gave that to the woman at the front. I hope it made its way back to the owner.
We did see a poor girl who was wasted wasted and an actor came to check on her because she was double over on her self, looked asleep, but then security staff and first aid came and checked on her to get her some water and find her friends. I hope she is okay.
We surprisingly didn't see to many embarrassingly drunk people, for being Octoberfest. It was fun seeing people in all kinds of costumes though and I was having a great time.
Jess was moving very slow because her feet hurt and we kept losing her. So to keep James slow I held their hand and to keep Jess with us I held her hand and we were a little train. A man at a booth laughed at us and said we needed a leash when I told him why we were doing this. But it worked!!
Jess got a precious hat. And then we bought honey products. We ran into her brother and sister in law and it was decided we wouldn't stay through the end and instead leave at 530ish.
So we got our last snacks and headed to the front to wait.
Me and Jess talked for a while while James filled our water bottle. And then we went out to sit in a gazebo and take some costume pieces off. It was just a wonderful day. I am so glad we got to go. Lookign through my posts we haven't been there together since 2014, me and James went to the Maryland one ins 2018. But it has been forever so this was just the best. And I get to see Jess again next Tuesday so it wasn't even that sad saying goodbye.
I was excited to go home. But we had some issues. We ended up going on the wrong exit on the turnpike and had to go twenty miles out of the way to turn around. And then we had another wrong turn and it was another 20 minutes added.
But we stopped for donuts and tacos after that. Donuts for James and tacos for me. And we listened to more tanis and enjoyed the sunset.
We got home around 830. Washed up and now were in bed. My lips are hurting really bad and have split open again. Im going to get actual neosporn tomorrow. Auquafore just isn't cutting it.
But now is time for rest.
I hope tomorrow is beautiful for all of you. Goodnight everyone!!

Writing and researching for this request made me so hungry, but fun! o^_^o
Here you go:
Junkrat & Roadhog Opening a Shop with S/O *SFW*
Tumblr media
Junkrat
The idea of opening a food truck together with Junkrat started during a mission. You two were trapped in an abandoned restaurant on Route 66 after a deal gone wrong with the Deadlock gang.
You started cooking your family secret recipe BBQ chicken. Junkrat didn’t know you could cook. He hasn’t seen you cook more than stuffing bread into the toaster and making grilled cheese sandwiches.
Junkrat shows you his favorite BBQ meals he learned back in the Outback. You and Junkrat started making meals during occasional Overwatch parties. Then it grew.
You set up a website, people ordered online, and you delivered the food.
Finally, there was enough money saved to purchase a legit food truck . Junkrat wanted to get a food truck the wrong way by stealing one or robbing a bank. You couldn’t tell Junkrat about the money because he kept spending it on frivolous things, even though he promised to save up too.
The food truck business was an ultimate success! The name: “KA-BOOM BBQ!”Junkrat would be wary of other food truck competitors and threaten to blow up their trucks. You warned him not to do so to avoid lawsuits.
The two of you made a line of signature BBQ sauces.
People have requested brick and mortar restaurants. You and Junkrat preferred the food truck business. It was a chance for you to travel. Junkrat loved being able to spend more time with you in a small space. <3
Roadhog eventually joins the food truck family to help cook and drive. McCree, Soldier 76, Mei, Lucio, Reinhardt, and D.Va sometimes helped out cooking in the truck, but Hog was the only permanent staff.

Roadhog
Before you and Roadhog officially dated, you two used to exchange sweets with each other every time you met at Headquarter’s cafeteria.
You were enjoying Roadie’s snacks so much you forgot to tell him you had specific food allergies. Eventually, you ended up in the hospital after a severe allergic reaction to a batch of Hog’s cookies.
It took a while for Roadhog to forgive himself. You kept telling him it was ultimately your fault, but the poor big baby kept blaming himself.
Hog asked you if you wanted to start a bakery. You happily obliged to the business opportunity.
You two started baking sales, saving money for a brick and mortar building. Plus, a small portion of the money was donated to local charities: children’s hospitals, animal sanctuaries, and homeless people and veterans affected by the Omnic Wars.
Roadhog started creating “How to Bake” videos online and showing off your products. The videos had excellent ratings. Hog was growing quite a fanbase. Some viewers were dying to see Hog’s real face and commented on his “deep sexy voice.”  Monetization from the videos was a BIG help.
You two finally opened your bakery: “Sweet Piggy” after what Hog called you. At first, Hog had the idea to name it “Sweet As,” but people would get the wrong idea.
The bakery was completely allergy-free, gluten-free, and vegan. Decorated with cute stuffies (especially pachimaris).
Junkrat comes by almost every day for the food. He tries to steal them without paying, but Hog always catches his ass.
Roadhog wants to make the place a piglet café where people would play with the piglets as they ate their sweets. How to get this approved is in the works…
“Sweet Piggy” Menu Sample
Cookies (Chocolate chip, Sugar, Pumpkin spice *seasonal*, Gingerbread *seasonal*, Vegemite, Kiwi Thumbprint, Oatmeal, Red Velvet *seasonal*, Lemon sugar, Molasses, Shortbread, Egg nog *seasonal*)
Donuts (Original, Dark Chocolate, Cinnamon sugar, Caramel, Fairy bread, Vanilla, Maple *seasonal*, Chocolate, PBJ, Blueberry, Vegemite)
Cakes (Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Pavlova, Pumpkin, Banana, Birthday, Jelly)
Cupcakes (all flavors Sweet Piggy offers)
Drinks (various teas and coffees)
How about that, anon? ;-)

mikalight :)
hi alex ily im assuming you want. all of them. valid of u. ill be answering as if this was an au where theyre both prosecutors, not kira.1 - who is a morning person and who is a night person?mikami is extremely routine-oriented and wakes up at the same time early every morning. light hates mornings but he does most of his work in the mid-morning/early-afternoon, so not exactly either.2 - who is more romantic?light! light likes big gestures and grandiose displays of affection. he likes the attention. 3 - who goes out of their way to pick something up from the store just to surprise the other with their favorite thing?mikami likes to stop at the grocery store and get light little snacks!! light loves knowing that mikami was thinking abt him.4- who usually cooks?light is the better cook, but i think they cook together on occasion :-)5 - what’s their favorite way to spend time together?mikami and light are both very focused on their work and enjoy being productive. i think they both rlly enjoy just. working in the same room together. they talk a little or ramble about their latest cases while typing up documents or sending emails. they order ubereats and silently wonder if the other person is judging them for their choice of meal (light gets a salad and mikami gets a sandwich)6 - do they celebrate couples’ holidays? (valentines day, sweetest day, christmas in some cultures?)light doesn't like to admit it because he thinks it makes him look frivolous and shallow, but he secretly thinks couples holidays are wonderful. it takes mikami a while to figure out why light looks so disappointed every christmas when he doesn't go all out with some grand romantic gesture, but he does eventually and starts making an effort to get light little gifts. 7 - where did they meet?in university! they met in an upper-level ethics class where there was like. twelve students total. they were in a lot of prereqs together but never noticed each other-- light was too wrapped up in thinking he was too smart for the basic classes and that he should try to test out, mikami was taking extremely intense notes. 8 - who made the first move?light. absolutely. do you think mikami is capable of making a life-changing decision like that? light starts by flirting relentlessly and mikami stays up late at night googling things like "is it flirting when he plays with your hair?" 9 - who does the PDA and who gets embarrassed about it?i dont think either are very fond of pda-- its kind of inappropriate and unsightly in japanese culture to be all over your significant other in public. however, i do think light occasionally pats mikami on the butt. 10 - do they have pets?hmm. maybe if they moved in together they'd get a cat! i just like the idea of light having a cat ok11 - if they fight, what do they argue about?they share a lot of opinions on politics, ethics, and morality, but i think they butt heads pretty frequently. they both can be confrontational at times, what with mikami's unwavering opinions and light's tendency to think he can do no wrong. light polices mikami's tone on occasion. light gets prickly when mikami doesn't respond to him exactly the way light Thinks he should. mikami usually won't start a fight, but he can get frustrated with light when light wants to disrupt his routine in favor of doing some spontaneous activity.12 - who kills the bugs?light refuses to. mikami gently captures them and puts them outside. its inhumane to kill them! 13 - who steals all of the blankets at night?light. they actually have two different blankets on their shared bed now, which is for the best, anyway-- light prefers a thick comforter and mikami likes a thinner blanket.14 - who is cranky before their morning coffee?mikami is used to getting up at a certain time and he likes it that way, so he doesn't get cranky in the mornings. light tends to be a little more random with his sleep schedule (staying up late to finish his paperwork, researching specific cases for references at one in the morning, etc) and gets less sleep because of it. he's very cranky in the mornings. 15 - who is the gay who drives?they can both drive.16 - who gets jealous?light is a very jealous person. he gets very passive aggressive at times, which goes completely over mikami's head. 17 - who is the most patient?mikami. light likes to do the Most to hurry things along because he hates wasting his time. 18 - does one of them do most of the housework, or do they share the responsibilities?mikami does a lot of the cleaning, but they're both pretty organized people, so it isn't a lot. for some things, they split the chores-- if light cooks, mikami washes the dishes after, etc.19 - who is more uptight?mikami... 20 - who says “i love you” first?light says i love you first and mikami gets so flustered he says "thank you?"21 - who argues with the manager?light demands that his salad at the restaurant is free because he asked for reduced fat shredded cheese and they gave him regular cheddar. 22 - how does the other one respond while the first one argues with the manager?mikami just folds his hands and waits for light to be done before tipping the waiter generously for being so gracious throughout light's temper tantrum.23 - which one has improper knife safety and which one drives the other to the hospital?i don't think this applies to either of them, sorry!24 - what pizza toppings do each get and are they able to compromise?i love this question because i had to google "popular pizza toppings in japan" and was met with very exciting results. mikami is pretty tame when it comes to his pizza-- he prefers margherita pizza 100%, very simple, healthier than other choices, just slices of mozzarella, only a little bit of sauce, and basil. if they're ordering out, light just splits mikami's pizza with him, but light secretly likes mayonnaise, white corn, and grilled shrimp on his pizzas. guilty pleasures. 25 - who takes longer showers?light loves taking obscenely long showers and they're lucky mikami prefers to shower after he goes to the gym, otherwise their shower schedules would clash.26 - who takes the longest to get ready?light. he deliberates over every outfit. he has to look his best.27 - who is the most concerned about their appearance?light cares more on a day-to-day basis, but mikami gets worried about light being embarrassed to be seen with him, so he has a whole selection of outfits and suits just for the days they're going to be out in public together. 28 - how do they take care of each other when they’re sick?neither of them are incredibly doting, but light will go out of his way to pick up some soup for mikami, and mikami will dictate light's business emails as light verbally tells him exactly how to write them even though he called in to work that day.29 - where was their first date?i think the line between dating and not dating was a little blurry for them but it was probably something very low key. a coffee shop or a cafe. 30 - personal random headcanon?light is very amused by mikami. at first it was kind of mean, like, light just being entertained by this weirdo in his ethics class, but eventually light fell head over heels. light still loves to fluster him and finds his odd little habits and routines rather charming. mikami, several years into their relationship, is still shocked that someone like light is interested in him.

I do not understand British snack foods
* Going back to the vaults and the time I raided a UK import store for intriguing British snacks. This was when I was still living on the North Shore, so I’m pretty sure it was one of West Vancouver’s many many many UK-themed shops because ex-pats & their descendents have more Britishy Britishness than the original print. (First place for Britishesquity in Canada surely goes to VIctoria, which is basically Britain, but with government workers and totem poles.)
SMITHS FRAZZLES CRISPY BACON FLAVOUR CORN SNACKS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I definitely smell bacon flavour when I open the package - emphasis on bacon flavour. And coffee for some reason, but perhaps that's a phantom association. The pieces look more cornish than bacony, although I see how they went out of their way to artificially colour, in barely visible strips, the cornish pieces so that they faintly resemble bacon. (Maybe peameal bacon that’s extremely heavy on the peameal?) They do taste like bacon . . . very, very salty bacon. I had to drink two cups of water and eat an apple to cleanse my palate afterwards to stave off hypertension. The ingredient list and nutritional information isn't horrible, but it isn't good either. (Saved again by decent sized packaging!) And this bacon snack is suitable for vegetarians! Hooray?
SKIPS TINGLY PRAWN COCKTAIL
Tumblr media
There are several reasons why I picked this up, the primary one being the curious absence of a qualifying noun: tingly prawn cocktail . . . . what, exactly? The byline reads “flavour” but “Tingly Prawn Cocktail Flavour” isn’t much help. I'm pretty sure it's not JUST prawn cocktail inside this bag. No such elucidation on the back of the package** - just a playful font announcing that "Skips are the fizzy, light and melty tongue tingly snack. Experience the tingle, balance a Skip on your tongue and let it melt in your mouth!" So that's the second reason why I picked this up: all the "tingly" claims. If this is basically prawn Pop Rocks, then Skips gets +100 points for sheer WTF gusto.
When I open the bag, a familiar scent wafts upwards. It smells . . . . like fish. Fried fish, to be more specific. It smells like a fish & chip kitchen. How they even managed to scent these with seafood AND grease is impressive, though probably not what they were looking for.
Looking at the chips, they look very much like a shrimp cracker. They are totally a shrimp cracker, and the tingliness is merely the dry cracker sucking all the moisture off one's tongue as it dissolves into a very, very, very faint shrimp cocktail-flavoured wad of goo in your mouth. One day, ONE DAY, snack bags are going to live up to their hype. I hold on to hope as I scrape off my tongue.
**Afterwards, in very teeny tiny font, I find my answer: "prawn cocktail flavour tapioca snack". Okay. Well. I see why they left that off the front.
SMITHS SCAMPI FLAVOUR FRIES
Tumblr media
"Cereal snack with a delicious scampi and lemon taste," announces the bag. I have no idea what scampi is, but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t belong in cereal. I do know it’s an inherently funny word Monty Python used a lot, so I couldn’t resist giving these a try. It tastes of lemon and fish, with a small hint of spice. Surprisingly, they’re quite good. I don’t know how wheat flour and soybean oil can be made to taste like fried fish, but that’s human progress, I suppose. "Scampi" is nowhere in the list of ingredients, but I can ignore my inklings of worry and just enjoy them. At least it’s not tapioca goo.
WALKERS FAMOUSLY WORCESTER SAUCE CHIPS/CRISPS
Tumblr media
Fun fact: Britons, in ongoing efforts not to pronounce half the letters in any given place name, have erroneously identified “Worcestershire sauce” as “Worcester sauce”. I can already feel the anger rising and angry comments about to rain down on my ignorant Canadian butt, so I shall direct you the Worcestershireshricesterians themselves. CHECKMATE, BRIT-CHES!
WorcesterSHIRE sauce smells like dirty socks at the bottom of a gym bag, tastes like I don't know because recipes only call for small amounts of it and I'm not sure that I've ever tasted anything else distinctively Worcestershire . . . ian? I suspect this is a sexy sounding flavour to put on a chip/crisp package, but an easy flavour to manufacture in that it's not too far removed from salt & pepper or paprika or roast ox or the like. Expectations: not high. Do they smell like Worcestershire sauce? Thank the heavens, no. They almost smell ketchup chip-y. The taste: it's a lot more complex than I thought it would be. It has a bit of a tang and it's not too salty, It tastes like 3 - 4 different somethings: kind of peppery, kind of vinegary, kind of tomato-y, spicy but not spicy hot. I'd definitely eat these again. Looking at the ingredients, I see these are not flavoured with Worcestershire sauce but with "Worcester(shire) sauce seasoning" which includes: "flavouring" (biggest ingredient . . . and shouldn't that be an adjective and not a noun?), salt, sugar, barley malt vinegar, citric acid, dried onion, dried garlic, fructose, cardamom, ground black pepper, ginger, clove & cocoa powder. Wait. What? These chips could be a half brother to gingersnap cookies.
CALBEE EUROPEAN TASTE BRITISH FISH TARTARE SAUCE FLAVOURED POTATO CHIPS
(IMAGE NOT FOUND)
So. I have notes for these, but no photos. I cannot, for the life of me and after a full day searching on Google, find evidence of their existence (although Calbee DID come out with a line of European Taste chips, some of which I’ve reviewed on this very blog, and I recall being distinctly sad that I didn’t get my hands on the lobster bisque chips). I don’t remember eating these at all and yet, I have notes. Probability that this could have been a hunger-inspired fever dream: 63% These are the notes, verbatim: “I don't know if they're going for the whole fish & chip meal flavour or just "tartare" (tartare or tartar?) flavour. Wait, if this is "fish tartare" isn't that basically sushi? If it's “fish tartar” then I expect a salt & vinegar with a slight mayo-ny flavour. I am hopeful . . . I do like a good tartar sauce, but it's kind of unfeasible to eat it straight out of the jar/bottle with no accompaniment. (Well, I suppose it is, but my life hasn’t become that desperate. Yet.)
There's no tart to the tartar sauce, which is disappointing but not surprising given Calbee's tendency towards timid flavours. They don't taste fishy, even though "fish products" is part of the ingredient list (I’m a little concerned about "fish products"). They do mostly taste like tartar sauce in a roundabout way. Another ingredient is "flavour enhancer" and these chips need more of that -  unless "flavour enhancer" is something that makes tumors far more likely to occur if ingested in large quantities.”
* I feel compelled to note something that I’m sure only I care about. My last entry was full of verb tense flip-flopping and it’s driving me crazy (though not crazy enough to compel me to edit the entry). This is a result of having six-year-old notes written in the present tense (because I wrote them while eating the snacks and not after the fact). I’m picking one tense and sticking with it, and yes, it’s weird to write about something in the past as if it’s happening right the heck now but . . . . no. I don’t have an excuse. You’ll just have to live with it.

Movie Quotes - Steve Rogers x Reader
Summary: You always quote movies around Steve, and when he admits he hasn’t seen most of them you organize a movie night. But does he have the guts to admit to you that he’s the Jack to your Rose?
Warnings: Fluffy, nothing really haha, swearing more than likely
Note: This is my submission. My three hints are: - I use an anonymous name for my blog. - My blog could go to war, with the name that I have - I often base my fics off of songs, such as Dodie.
Word Count: 3,725
Tumblr media
The coffee machine buzzed to indicate everyone that it was, in fact, working. However, the noise went past the ears of Bucky - who was leaning against the kitchen counter, hand clasping a mug of tea, as he conversed with Steve. The captain was already dressed - naturally - and he’d already been on a morning run, “to kill some time.”
Something about the air in the room changed when you entered through the open doorway, as you short pajama pants contrasted greatly from Steve’s blue jeans. You moved with a sense of ease to the coffee machine, placing a mug beneath the dispenser location, and pressing “release.”
“Morning, fellas,” you grinned, already chirpy despite the early morn that left only the three of you awake. Where as Steve woke up to run, and Bucky woke up to escape the torment of his mind, you didn’t have any specific reason to awake: or so they thought. In fact, you did. It gave you more minutes with a certain blonde, who was always dressed at 6 in the morning as though it was as normal as tying his laces.
They both shot you a smile in reply, and you removed your mug and took a long slurp - the heat barely making you wince. Moving towards the kitchen island, you placed the mug down before hoisting yourself to sit on the marble finish. Retrieving the baby pink cup to your lips, you took a rewarding slurp, before placing it back down.
“Stevie,” you called, and his eyes instantly darted to meet your own from where they originally rested on his mug - so he didn’t stare at your bare legs for what could be considered too long to be normal. A taunting smirk came to your lips, as you narrowed your eyes: “Hold my pie,” you remarked, in an exaggerated deep and (what was meant to be) masculine voice.
He brought a similar smile to his lips, as he gazed around in thought. “Um…robo-cop?”
“What!? No, you idiot! iRobot!” you laughed, and Bucky chuckled similarly.
“I knew that one,” he muttered, and Steve shot him a glare. However, his gaze weakened as he danced his focus back to you.
“Never seen it,” he admitted, and you almost choked on your drink.
“What? What! How?” you snapped, and as his mouth fell open to answer, you left him impersonating a gold-fish. “That’s it, we’re adding that to the list.”
“This list is gonna be as long as the girl’s who’ve rejected Sam,” Bucky now hissed, which earned a punch in the bicep from Steve. You couldn’t help but giggle though, as you jumped off the counter top with a now empty mug. It always baffled the blonde how you could down it without wincing, though the water was close to boiling.
“Buck does have a point though, we do need to start shortening this list. You free tonight?” you asked, placing the mug in the dishwasher before slamming it closed. Steve was close to having a heart attack internally, as the butterflies that raced around his stomach batted their wings against his heaving chest. Bucky had a smirk, able to hear the erratic heart-race, and so his cheeks naturally darkened in shade. He prayed you couldn’t hear how nervous your simple question made him.
“Yeah, sure,” he breathed, praying to any higher power that his voice sounded level and even: not like a school-girl being hit on by her crush. You shot him a grin, nodding your head.
“Wonderful. I’ll bring three of the movies on our list, including my favourite: iRobot.” And with that refreshing conclusion, like a glass of fresh lemonade during a heat-wave, you skipped out of the kitchen and down the hall. As soon as you were out of sight and ear-shot, and Steve could no longer hear your foot-steps padding, he turned to Bucky in alarm.
“Oh God. What do I wear? What do I do?” he panted, grabbing the elder’s shoulders. Bucky just chuckled, shaking his head.
“Buy some snacks, wear some joggers, and relax: it’s only Y/N,” he grinned, pushing his hands off of him, and vanishing out the room - though not with the same energy you radiated. Steve stared after the two of you, breathing out in tense worry.
“Yeah, that’s the problem,” he hissed.

After pulling bargains and deals with the rest of the avengers, you’d claimed the main living area for you and Steve. Some, such as Sam, were eager to have the two of you finally go on a date - of sorts - instead of (to quote) “eye-fondling each-other, all the time.” Some led to you being $100 short, as Nat made you pay her to use the other T.V so she could watch her season finale. Tony made sly comments about how he shouldn’t see any weird stains on the sofa, which was rewarded with a smack to the face, and Bucky simply agreed to leave the two of you alone out of the kindness of his scarred heart.
It was rolling to around 8pm, and you were actually shitting yourself. You didn’t think you’d be so nervous, spending alone time with Steve. After all, you’d watched movies with him before, except it was usually with someone else, and it wasn’t as intimate. This wasn’t intimate, though, was it? It was to educate him on the world of pop-culture, it was necessary for him to fit in with the 21st century. However, you knew that was a lie you told yourself in an attempt to clam the swarming thoughts in your mind.
Skipping down the hall in some Hollister joggers, and a black tank top - with three quarter length sleeves that flared out just after the elbow - you made your way into the living area. Steve wasn’t there yet, but it didn’t phase you as you’re agreed to meet at half 8, and it was only twenty past.
Picking up the remote, you went through Netflix and Amazon, getting ready to watch the movies you’d decided to combat for the evening. It first was iRobot - your favourite movie, and the one Steve had failed today’s movie quote quiz you always gave him. Then you’d watch Forest Gump, in which you’d once told him in reassurance that “life was like a box of chocolates” and he thought you were actually offering him a chocolate. Finally, the evening would conclude with Titanic - so you could make non-stop references about Kate and Leo, and Rose and Jack. Always, for your own viewing pleasure of the second hottest male on earth: young Leo. Just as you’d finished sourcing the movies, the door opened and Steve entered with a carrier of snacks, and some bowls stacked in his left hand.
“Hey,” you smiled, sitting up and turning to him. He wore dark blue sweat pants, that were loose around the crotch, and a loose black tee. You didn’t even think he owned loose clothing, but something about this look made him seem squishy adn adorable, and so you beckoned him over with a smile. He pushed the coffee table nearer to the largest sofa, where you were both sitting, and spread out bowls. “What’s in the bag?”
He rose his brows, before furrowing them in thought. “I’m not sure which movie that’s from,” he admitted shyly, and you giggled.
“It’s not a movie quote, silly,” you chuckled, pushing the blanket off your legs and moving closer. He shook his head with a chuckle, before showing you the contents of the carrier.
“Okay, so, we’ve got Haribo,” he said, and you nodded as he poured them into a bowl.
“Iconic,” you chimed.
“Pop-corn,” he spoke, whilst raising the bag of sweet-n-salty pop-corn.
“Classic,” was the grinning response.
“Doritos. You’re, um, favourite flavour,2 he said, mumbling the last part with a nervous blush. You smiled wider, heart fluttering a little at the sentiment.
“Aw, you remembered!” you smiled, your own cheeks heating a little: and you could imagine the teasing from Tony and Sam if they were here.
“And…two beers,” he smirked, before placing down the glass bottles along with an opener. You nodded, diving for one of them, as he collected the bowl holding the pop-corn, and made his way to the sofa.
When he first sat down, it was so apparent he was nervous. You could’ve fitted a small elephant between the two of you, and so you took the executive choice of moving closer to him. So close, in fact, that your thighs brushed. And his cheeks grew darker once more, as he placed the pop-corn bowl in his lap. You took a handful, dragging the blanket so it covered your thighs, and you decided to lean your head against his shoulder subconsciously: it was more comfortable, anyway.
“So, if we start with iRobot,” you said, lifting the remote and pressing play. “This is my favourite movie of all time. And Will Smith is amazing in this. Oh! There’s this really funny scene when Spooner - which is Will Smith - is like ‘a robot can’t paint a masterpiece,’ or something like that: and Sonny - the robot - is like, ‘can you?’ you rambled, smile almost bursting off your face, as you essentially spoiled most of the film before the opening was over. Though he was missing an important part of the movie, he couldn’t help but focus on your face, as you watched the all to familiar scenes whilst your mouth ran a mile a minute. When you were like this, talking about things you adored, he could fall into it and never want to find a way out.

By now, you were approaching the end of Titanic. You’re body had shifted, so your head was on Steve’s lap - that was concealed by the bright pink blanket - and he’d moved the Doritos to the side so you could snuggle down. Throughout the scenes, his eyes danced down to see your droopy eyes focused on the scenes, an easy smile on your face. From time to time, you’d giggle or repeat a line you liked under your breath, and sometimes you’d tell him a small fact about something in the movie, and the production of it. He wasn’t really listening, just admiring the way you were so intent on knowing everything about anything you loved.
At this moment, the room was pitch black aside from the light glaring off the giant flat-screen. It made the features of your face glimmer, and Steve’s own face look even more enticing, on the moments when you’d chuckle at a joke, and you’d glance up to shoot him a smile - happy he was enjoying this as much as you. The pop-corn was all gone, the Haribo dish half empty, and the beer bottles discarded.
The ship was nearly completely enveloped by the ocean’s relentless waves, bullying against the structure. People were diving off the sinking ship, yelling and shouting radiating through the room. Steve knew of the titanic, as it was before his time, but the movie made it seem more real: the images from the tragedy only drawings or sketches that were released in papers. He also discovered he was a sucker for romances, as he become almost emotionally attached to the couple who nearly got trapped within the filling levels of the boat.
Rose was in the water, yellow life jacket on, as she lay on top of some floating debris. Jack was holding her hand, but Steve knew he was a doomed man. A sniffle sounded, and he glanced down to see tears soaking your cheeks, as you tried to keep your reaction discreet.
“Jack. Jack! There’s a boat Jack,” Rose whimpered, shaking his hands as he lay lifeless. You couldn’t help it, this scene always tore you apart from the inside out. A sniff was all you could do, as snot tried to join the waterfall down your cheeks. Suddenly, a hand was in your hair, and you jumped a little. Then you felt Steve run his fingers through the strands in comfort, and you sniffled with a sad laugh.
“This part always gets to me,” you admitted, through a thick tone. He chuckled gently, watching the moments on the television.
“I’ll never let go: I promise.” she spoke, kissing his wrist before letting him slide into the water. Even Steve had to admit to himself that it was pretty emotional, but something about your reaction made him feel fuzzy inside. You were such a romantic. Suddenly, he felt you shift, as you moved to sit up to wipe your cheeks. He pulled his fingers from your hair, feeling a little embarrassed by the natural reaction - he’d always do it to Bucky’s younger sister whenever she was upset and her brother wasn’t around.
You let out a shy giggle, sniffing and wiping your nose on the back of your wrist.
“Wow. I mean, could you imagine that? Meeting your soulmate, and having to let them sink into the ocean?” you sniffed, turning to meet Steve’s icy gaze. He chuckled, shrugging.
“Been in a similar situation,” he joked, and you covered your mouth.
“Oh God, Steve, I didn’t even think. I didn’t upset you, did I?” you panicked, reaching for the remote to turn it off, though it was nearly finished anyway. He laughed, shaking his head, before catching your wrists.
“Don’t be daft. It was perfect. This whole evening was, pretty perfect,” he blushed, smiling down at your face. It was still flushed form tears, but you didn’t want to break his gaze, as you smiled back. And then his eyes flitted to your lips - for only a second - and your heart beat picked up. His smile dropped, as did yours, and you waited in pure anticipation.
He leaned closer, and your eyes closed, and…
Then you heard a sigh, and you opened to your eyes reluctantly, to see him back to how he was sat before. A feeling of regret and embarrassment came over you.He wasn’t going to kiss you, but now you’ve just completely outed yourself ad embarrassed yourself for expecting it. God, he probably felt pressured. Oh God.
His grip loosened on your hands, and you dropped them to your lap, as Celine Dion sang out the God awful theme song nobody likes. After clearing your throat, a painful silence painting over you both, you nodded.
“Well, goodnight, Stevie. Thanks for, um, joining me,” you smiled, meeting his eyes for only a moment before standing up and essentially sprinting out the room: feeling mortified.

“So,” Bucky started, staring at Steve - who was still in his running gear, from his routine morning run. Steve didn’t react, instead he watched the mug fill with coffee that had little to no effect on his metabolism. Bucky rose a brow, took a slurp of his drink, then sighed. “Hello?”
“What?” the blonde almost snapped, causing brown brows to raise from the elder super soldier.
“How was your date with Y/N last night?” he wondered, as though it was the most obvious thing in the world: because, to be honest, it was.
“It wasn’t a date.” he muttered, taking his drink and refusing to meet his friend’s eyes.
“Oh no, what happened?” Bucky sighed,. moving closer and placing a hand on Steve’s shoulder. The blonde pulled away and shot him a glare.
“Nothing happened,” he spat. Bucky frowned, before grimacing.
“She didn’t show up?” he asked, sadly, voice dropping to be more empathetic. Steve let out a another huff, and as he was about to retaliate, and tell Bucky to mind his own God damn business, you waltzed into the room. However, it didn’t hold the same spring in your step like usual, and Steve didn’t let this go unnoticed: and neither did Bucky. Instead, he watched with a frown as you shot Steve an almost nervous smile, got your drink, and vanished.
“Okay, what happened?” Bucky snapped, once your footsteps had fallen out of ear-shot.
“What are you talking about, Buck?” Steve groaned, downing his drink to make his escape quicker. Bucky grabbed his best pal’s bicep and rose a brow.
“I mean, she comes in here looking like a deflated balloon, doesn’t say a word to either of us, and doesn’t give you her movie quote trivia question,” Bucky reeled, waiting to gauge his friend’s reaction. Steve sighed, staring at his feet.
“Well, we were watching the movies. And she had her head in my lap. And then she started crying, cause of the movie, and sat up. So, long story short, I nearly kissed her,” he admitted, with a slight blush, and a defeated look clear in his eyes. Bucky broke out into a smile.
“That’s great! that’s so great! So, then what?” he wondered, like a child eager to see what happens next in a movie. But Steve instead shrugged, before glancing up.
“I didn’t kiss her and she bolted.” Steve admitted, broken tone seeping through and making its way into Bucky’s ears. His shoulders sagged, and he frowned at his friend. “I just, I don’t know! I got overwhelmed and I haven’t kissed someone in so long!” he ranted, staring into his friend’s orbs with a pleading look. Bucky gave a sad smile in reply, and rubbed Steve’s arms up and down in comfort.
“You gotta kiss her, Stevie. She’s perfect for you, and she clearly likes you. Why do you think she never quizzes me?” he chuckled, and Steve met his eyes.
“I missed my chance, Buck,” he grumbled. Bucky laughed, shaking his head.
“Don’t do that again. You never got to take Peggy out, don’t do it another time.”

You sat on your bed, fingers brushing through the book Wanda had recommended - and you’d buried your nose in straight away. Your moment of serene silence was interrupted by a knock on your door.
“F.R.I.D.A.Y, stop the music please,” you spoke, placing the book down after “dog-earing” the page. You jumped off the large comforter, moving to the door and opening it to see a tall, broad shoulder super soldier. He breathed out a sigh upon seeing your face. It wasn’t upset, or angry, but more questioning.
“Steve,” you said, a little aghast. He smiled, before sticking his hands in his pocket. “What can I do for you?”
“i need to tell you something,” he said, and something about his tone was almost grave and unsettling. You nodded, stepping to the side to let him into the room, as your heart beat picked up. you then let the door swing closed, and you turned to see him pacing a little, in the middle open space of your corner of the world.
“Stevie, is everything-”
“Don’t. I just, I need to tell you this,” he said, holding a hand up to cut you off. Then, his fingers dug into his jean’s pocket, and he lifted out a folded square of paper. You held your breath, heart pulsing in your ears, as you rung your hands together and waited for him to start.
“Y/N,  I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you.” he said, voice shaking a little, and your heart lept. Dirty Dancing. “Because, the truth is, you had me at hello,” he continued, not daring to look up to see your reaction. Jerry Maguire. “I think you should be kissed, and often, and by someone who knows how,” he almost admitted, through the infamous lines of Gone with the Wind, and you felt a smile taking over your dainty features. His shoulder’s weren’t as tense, and his voice was calmer, as he knew the words held meaning that he couldn’t explain. “They say, when you meet the love of your life, time stops. And that’s true.” Big Fish. “And, when I’m with you, Y/N. Time does stop. And I don’t know why I didn’t kiss you last night, because I was going to. And I’m sorry for making you think I wouldn’t ever want to, because I do.”
Steve finally took in some air, before glancing up to meet your eyes. He held the paper in his shaking hands, though he didn’t need to read them any longer. You were smiling, the beams from it brighter than those from the sun, and he wanted to catch them in a jar and save for a rainy day. He took a step closer to you, and you decided to let him come to you, the same way he tried to last night.
“I’ve come here with no expectations, only to profess, now that I am at liberty to do so, that my heart is, and always will be, yours,” he chuckled nervously, coming closer to you with every short step taken. You bit down on your lip, nodding to the words originally spoken from Sense & Sensibility. His pale hand took yours, and you looked up to meet his blue orbs that stared into your soul: oh how you wanted to drown in them.
“And you don’t have to feel the same way. I’m not expecting you to say anything. You can tell me to leave, and I’ll leave. But, if you want to give this a shot: so do I. And if it doesn’t work out…well, in all honesty, it would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you.” Steve breathed against your lips, forehead almost pressing against your own. His eyes bore into yours, and he waited for you to push him away.
But instead, your lips curved into a smile, and you remarked, “The Fault in our Stars: I didn’t think you’d seen that movie.” And with that, he pressed his lips against yours. You wasted no time in wrapping your arms around his neck, pulling him closer with a smile, before titling your head to deepen the kiss. He was now grinning against your lips, causing you to chuckle from the odd sensation. Pulling away reluctantly, from lack of air, he looked at your blushing face.
“Now that, Steve, should be a famous movie quote,” you smirked, before pressing your swollen lips to his own once more.

Tumblr media
because the food programme explores in ‘britain's mystery saffron story’, the pink spice is one of the international’s most high priced substances – really worth more according to ounce than gold. However what other ingredients would provide the sought-after spice a run for its cash? What is it that makes these merchandise so luxurious? And are they surely well worth their charge tag? Here are some of planet earth’s maximum pricey foodstuffs. How many have you tried?
1. Saffron
if your rice is luminous yellow, then the chances are it’s been sharing a saucepan with saffron. The spice, nicknamed ‘pink gold’, is the shiny crimson stigma (or threads) from a crocus flower, and it’s used as a colouring agent in meals. Why does some thing so small value so much? It's miles, weight for weight, extra costly than gold itself. The motives are easy: saffron crocuses only flower for per week or  a year inside the autumn; harvesting the spice is labour in depth (it’s amassed and processed through hand); and each small flower has simplest 3 stigma this means that it takes around  soccer pitches of crocuses to create a kilogram of saffron. That’s as many as 300,000 flowers! 2. Caviar

It's miles this unpredictability, at the side of the lengths people go to to locate and harvest them, which leads to their hefty fee tag. The report sum paid for a unmarried white truffle changed into via macau casino proprietor stanley ho in 2007. He splashed out $330,000 (£165,000) for one among the largest muffins exposed in decades – weighing 1. Five kg. A quite exceptional rate for a pungent underground fungus. 5. Iberico ham

Kobe pork, one of the maximum pretty-prized, fetches as much as £500 a kg in japan. That’s a number of moo-ney. 7. Kopi luwak espresso
good enough, so technically it’s a drink. However with luggage of kopi coffee promoting for as much as $seven hundred in step with kg, it’s honestly worthy of its location in this list. Kopi luwak, or civet espresso, is made from espresso beans eaten, partly digested and then defecated by means of the asian palm civet or civet cat. Doesn’t sound all that appetising? Continually test wherein your coffee comes from. Unluckily, there are growing numbers of extensive civet farms, in which animals are restricted to cages similar to battery hens, and pressure-fed.
