Today I'm sad bc every time I see consang stuff I think of the cousin I was in a really loving relationship with and how we never got to be who we wanted because our family would have disowned us and how unfair that was.

Like we were so in love, okay? We made each other so happy. And we just wanted to continue making each other happy and our family tried to keep us apart because of that.

I wish we had had more. I wish they hadn't ripped us away from each other. I wish we still spoke, and looked at each other the way we used to, and held each other the same way we always did.

(That said I will still be looking at and thoroughly enjoying any consang I come across bc it feeds me)

“consang is bad because incestual pregnancy causes disabilities” this arguement is wrong in so many ways

(This has been edited heavily as my original first point was misleading and misinformation, along with me wanting to add some points)

yes incestual pregnancy causes disabilities but i have two counter arguments to why this shouldnt make it illegal, 1. So can pregnancy at old age but i dont see any legal protections around that and 2. Not wanting disabled people/babies to exist is a very abelist/eugenics supporting mindset!!

Ace people and people who dont want children exist, expecting sex of everyone on earth and babies of every uterus owner on earth is fucking weird and bigoted

people who dont want bio children and people who want to exclusively adopt/foster children exist, consang relationships with these people should be allowed to exist (and should be legal too but woopty doo consang is still illegal in most/probably all countries because of stigma and religious dogma being forced into politics and law) (which side note, being anticonsang is by definition against the belief of seperation of church and state!!)

when people's only argument against family members safely and consensually dating is "their kids will be born with genetic defects!!!1!!" I'm consistently just flabbergasted by the tone deaf eugenicist ass ableism. like. okay so. my mother, who is disabled by a hereditary auto immune disease that causes chronic pain , should not have had me because I would be born with genetic defects? my mom should not be loved or be in a relationship because any child she has would be born with genetic defects? what is this logic. until someone can give me a real answer as to why consensual incestuous relationships are ACTUALLY BAD I'm completely in support of them. sorry. love is love
