Sk8tr Cake print

(6th December 2022)

Alike my " Go for a rollie?" print, i drew out the plan, aligned it and printed it. I decided on the colours red and orange because i felt they complemented each other and were different from the colours in my original print. Some of the colours didn't come out as clearly due to the letter and its background being too similar and so i filled it in with a white pen. Again, i am really happy with my final print and it turned out exactly how i planned.

Belated exhibition promotion: I was incredibly honored to have been invited by Professor Scott Ludgwig of Appalachian State University to participate in the 2022 International Youth Printmakers Invitational Exhibition in Changsha, China. This exhibition showed more than 100 representative works by 43 printmakers from China, France, the UK and the USA as well as other locations. The exhibition was organized by the Changsha Normal University and the Printmaking Art Committee of Hunan Artists Association. The Co-Curators were Marc Brunier, Liz Roth, Liu Jing and @scottludwigart It was a fabulous show that was a true privilege to be a part of. ❤️FELICE 20023❤️ “Finalmente la pace - Planisfero fisico” | Poster: stampa digitale su carta fotografica satinata e profili in plastica bianca | 100x70cm. #carlocolli #diemauerartecontemporanea A colpo d’occhio diamo per scontato che si tratta di una semplice carta geografica, di un planisfero fisico, ma soffermando lo sguardo ci accorgiamo dell’anomalia, che, per quanto inquietante, invita e lascia spazio a molte riflessioni che possono dare e restituire infinite declinazioni all’immagine che si presenta davanti ai vostri occhi. Romanticamente, per come è presentata, ci riporta alla memoria i banchi di scuola, proprio la dove per la prima volta con grande stupore e meraviglia scoprivamo e localizzavamo le coordinate del punto esatto del nostro sguardo sull’immensità del mondo, ma oggettivamente, oltre a farci vivere questa nostalgica intima dimensione temporale, ci induce inevitabilmente a porci delle domande sulle possibili cause di tale scenario post apocalittico. A prescindere dalle possibili declinazioni che possiamo attribuire a tali cause, che non sto qui ad elencare per non condizionare le vostre intime riflessioni, di sicuro ci accorgeremo o spero ci ricorderemo che nulla è scontato, e che esse semplicemente o terribilmente sono connesse alla perdita di uno dei principali valori indispensabili per la naturale e sostenibile convivenza e coesistenza in questa nostra casa comune: il rispetto. Davanti alla celestiale calma di questo primordiale mare sconfinato, a voi le vostre intime riflessioni. "Go for a Rollie?"

(1st December 2022)

After documenting my friends and conversations, I decided on the final design of my friend Rosa with the tagline "Go For A Rollie?". I decided print would be excellent for the subject i was documenting as the idea behind printing is permanence and constant reproduction. I feel this is a great contrast between temporary interactions.

I also took inspiration from the mention of music posters and punk from the print seminar and also from my mam exclaiming "you and your friends look like ye belong in a band!" I embraced the punk aesthetic through poppy colours and cutout letters.

I used the pink and dark blue colours as i felt they contrasted well and complimented eachother.
