My initial thoughts on the Lost Metal:
Bad stuff first:
I enjoyed it, but found it underwhelming. Not that I was expecting a Sanderlanche on the level of a Stormlight book, but I just found it difficult to get into emotionally and that meant some of the more affecting moments were lost on me. I also picked up on a lot of the foreshadowing/made some correct predictions on the plot, so I think that took away some of the impact as well. It also repeated several plot points from Era 1, especially Marasi's storyline, which was disappointing to see. Plus, I don't understand why Brandon made Wax a Mistborn if he didn't actually use any of the other metals, other than the unconscious examples I liveblogged about. So I'm confused about that.
The good stuff:
I love Steris so much. Rip her anxiety but Steris being Steris saved Elendel from major destruction.
A lot of good Wayne quotes, including some that were quite spicy for a Branderson novel. But then again, it's Wayne.
There was some good exploration of other stuff happening in the cosmere, namely what Autonomy has been up to and what she's like as a Shard, which I'm guessing will have later implications for Roshar and other planets.
I'm eager to learn more about TwinSoul and the aether(s), though if there's anything in the Secret Projects please don't tell me since I want to go in blind to them.
I could definitely tell that there's stuff Branderson is setting up for Era 3 and 4, such as the balance of Harmony maybe shifting to Discord, the Bands if Mourning being drained by parties unknown, and whatever Kelsier's going to do.
Speaking of. KELSIER POV. The most exciting part of the book for me was seeing a Kelsier POV. Oh you bastard, how I missed thee.
Hoid showing up in a boat to rescue Wax was hilarious. I wonder if that was part of his "always knows where he needs to be" thing or if there was another party involved in getting him there to save Wax. Either way, it was funny.
That's all my initial thoughts, though I'm sure I'll come up with others later.

Brandon: Marsh is of multiple minds on what's happening with Kelsier at this time.
Marsh: On the one hand, he’s causing trouble, running scams, and generally making a nuisance of himself.
Marsh: On the other hand, it’s someone else’s planet.

We should all take a moment to enjoy this gem.
Sadeas: Really, Elhokar. Must we put up with this... creature? [Talking about Wit]
Elhokar: I like him. He makes me laugh.
Sadeas: At the expense of those who are loyal to you.
Wit: Expanse? Sadeas, I don't believe you've ever paid me a sphere. Though no, please, don't offer. I can't take your money, as I know how many others you must pay to get what you wish of them.
Sadeas: A whore joke, Wit? Is that the best you can manage?
Wit: I point out truths when I see them, Brightlord Sadeas. Each man has his place. Mine is to make insults. Yours is to be in-sluts.

Conversation
Lift is amazing
Windle: Or, to offer a counter-proposal, you could simply BUY some food with the spheres the emperor alloted you.
Lift: Didn't bring them.
Windle: You didn't...
Windle: You didn't BRING THE MONEY.
Lift: Ditched it. When you weren't looking.
Lift: Can't get robbed if you don't have money.

Info I gleamed about the four mystery books from Brandon's live stream
I probably missed somethings/got some things wrong. Feel free to provide your own additions/corrections.
Audiobooks
Michael and Kate might do the audio book on one of the four novels but Brandon wants to collaborate with other narrators and is taking recommendations on reddit.
They will be on audible and as they're a "small/medium" press publisher, will be making it one credit. whatever that means
Content
Books 1, 3 & 4 are a part of the Cosmere.
That leaves book 2 as an original project.
Number 4 is the one about a returning character. It goes into and has ties to their backstory.
Number 3 is Brandon's personal favorite, along with his wife and Peter's, although the opinion his evenly split among the whole staff.
They're all standalone novels and can be a reader's introduction to Sanderson or the Cosmere.
However they have more references than some of the early novels, which he says is because there's more to reference now that the Cosmere is nearing 20 years old.
One of the book is in first person, the other three are in third.
They're all approximately 100k words, give or take, making all four in total the length of one Stormlight novel.
The shortest is about 80k-90k words and is the non cosmere book (number 2)
The longest is about 110k
The cosmere novels have weird world building. Specifically with setting and not magic systems. Brandon compared it to Stormlight thematically than his earlier novels like Mistborn or Elantris. I assume he means it's less classical fantasy/eurocentric-vibes of those early novels, however this is not a quote from him the only thing directly from his mouth is that it's like Stormlight.
"Four's narrative is unlike anything I've done before. It's polarizing in me leaning into one type of storytelling very much. If you like that style of storytelling you'll love this book if you don't it's just going to be a little much"
All of the novels are him messing around with his style of writing and each have q unique tone of voice according to him.
Video
The video was apparently originally going to be more dramatic with him playing up the unsurity of the situation. The staff got him to tone it down and the one we got is a compromise.
"I was very enamored with the idea. I didn't know if it was a good idea. I only knew I liked the idea."
Given the social media reaction to the video, namely here, Twitter and YouTube, commercially speaking, it was a success.
Kickstarter, Printing, & International Shipping
Despite the now 13+ million dollars, they're not planning stretch goals for the kickstarter or much customization. It was a lot of work for the Way of Kings Leather-bound and they're saving that kind of thing for the Words of Radiance next year.
Paperback printings are certainly going to happen, the only question up in the air is when.
Shipping international was one of the biggest dilemmas for them, as they are printing 100% in house and shipping them everywhere vs printing them much closer to the destinations. He mentioned possibly talking to one of his European publishers, naming Spanish and Polish specifically, to see if they could do a special distribution outside of the original kickstarter, although he states that given they'll be printing English copies, he expects a likelihood of being turned down as that's outside of their slice of the market. UK's Brexit also complicates things.
Some viewers proposed saving all of the books for the end of the year and shipping them all in one package to save on postage, however as previously mentioned, personalized orders are harder to manage and they're not super sure if they have the space in their warehouse to store them all for that long.
As for Canada, they're the same price because of FedEx/UPS being weird and costing them extra despite the fact that they're right there. Brandon theorizes it's because they fly the books over the border rather than drive it.
In the end they decided flatrate price for shipping was the easiest and to keep the price of it low have opted to take a slight loss.
All tiers will include the ebook, as there might be a delay for shipping the packages, to give people something read if they want to leave the books as pure shelf dressing, and also some shenanigans with going up against Amazon that I can't remember and don't want to scrub through the stream to find.
Writing Proccess
The reason why he can churn so many of these out is because they're all original stories with little pre-existing characters (or at least characters who already had arcs) because according to him
"It's harder to write a character after they had a character arc than it is to write new characters"
He wanted his editors to use colorful pens when giving notes, having them assigned a unique color and write their opinions on the manuscript in said color, and to respond to others notes on the manuscript.
When he gave them the mansucripts for all of them, he forgot to print out multiple copies of each and so they assumed it was 4 different copies of the same story instead of four different stories. It took some discussion for the editors to realize this. However, Brandon prefers them all passing around the same copy so they don't have to allocate all of the notes from multiple manuscripts.
They decided to replicate this with the Beta readers.
If you want Brandon to take a genuine break he will be sitting down to play Elden Ring and may be getting something *vague handwave* from From Software themselves. guess they overheard him being salty that they picked GRRM over him /lh
What about book number 5?
Book number 5 was a special creation of his, different from books 1-4. Namely, it's a collaboration between him and his sons.
One of them (Oliver) drew him a robot frog named "Robog" and Brandon hung it up on his bathroom mirror. Seeing the drawing every day eventually got his gears turning. Eventually wondering "What was Robog's story?"
The answer is its a toy that comes to life and follows the owner of Robog.
And so, Brandon wrote a small chunk of it and read it to his sons. They became so enamored with it and amazed that something they created lead to an actual story that they made more drawings for him and asked Brandon to incorporate it into the story.
The entire thing came out to be about 30k words and so the reason why he's wanting it to be like a graphic novel is because art was baked into the writing process and he wants to pass off the drawings his sons did and have a professional artist develop them using his manuscript for that story.
It's not included in the Kickstarter because he felt it was out of place from the other, more adult oriented books.
It's title is "Super Awesom Danger"

Fanfic Authors Tag Game
Tagged by @marblesarelost
AO3 Name: Sasskarian
Fandoms: Lord. Uh. Star Wars (Legends EU and canon, though I tend to cherry pick what I like). Dragon Age. Mass Effect. Elder Scrolls. Crimson Peak (one completed fic, one WIP). Witcher. Arcana game. When the Night Comes. Cosmere/Sanderson works. Mercedes Thomspon. Black Jewels series. Good Omens. Haven.
Number of fics: 27, not including my Scrivner or Drive folders
1. Fic you spent the most time on: At this point, I’d say it’s a toss-up between my Hollywood/Noir/Murder Mystery AU of Dragon Age, Glitterverse, and my Jaal/Ryder romance, Home.
2. Fic you spent the least time on: Honestly? Probably the Arcana fic I’ve started three times and thrown away every time. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about my Voiceverse fic but not actually writing it.
3. Longest fic: Technically, my longest fic is a collection of tumblr prompts, totalling 38k. My second longest work but longest proper fic is Glitterverse, at 30k.
4. Shortest fic: He Might Like That, a Mandalorian ficlet. Din reminiscing on how mandokarla Cara Dune is, and Cara being oblivious.
5. Most hits: Shakarian Smut that’s been under construction for like a year. (I want to rewrite it, I just never... seem... to actually get to it) at 4.2k. Current fic that’s still up would be the kickoff to Home, Come to Me, at just under 4.
6. Most kudos: Come to Me, at 342
7. Most comment thread: Glitterverse at 48
8. Fave fic you wrote: Oh man. Don’t do this to me. >< How can I choose between my bi disaster hollywood!Hawke (Glitterverse) and my overly-romantic Orlesian au Isera (Fairbanks)
9. Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: There are definitely a few. Like... most of them. Mostly the Shakarian smut-- now that the OT3 of Garrus/Shepard/Thane is my canon-- and I want to expand on the Crimson Peak fic. My girlfriend and I had the great idea of mashing together Crimson Peak and Rivers of London, and having Nate end up associating with Nightingale at some point.
10. Share a bit of your WIP or share a story idea that you’re planning:
New Fairbanks:
“I’m sorry,” Isera says, blinking slowly at her advisers. “Can you repeat that but… make it make more sense?”
Leiliana sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose. “What part of this is difficult to understand, Inquisitor?” Josephine makes a noise somewhere between amusement and resignation, and Isera narrows her eyes at the way Cassandra and Cullen are very carefully not looking at one another. “Your presence is not required at the evening meeting.”
“My presence,” she says, “is not required? Me? The Inquisitor?”
“That’s correct.” Cassandra nods once, decisively, as if to say and that’s that. “Your evening is yours to do with as you like.” Something twinkles in her eye, something that suddenly and sharply reminds Isera of the look Varric gets right before he gets into mischief or starts bullshitting in the hopes of distracting her.
“...you’re up to something,” Isera says, accusingly. “I know you four are up to something.”
Witcher, with my beloved heart-sister @suspendnodisbelief:
“Even now, I hear them at the gate, crashing against it to make their way here,” Calanthe announced, and Jaskier quoted verbatim in a recitative cadenza. “You must go now, both of you. Renfri, will you help me guard them as they make their escape?”
“Fight a swarm of all manner of dreadful monsters, alongside a Queen who has matched me cut for blow? Oppose Death itself, and cry our defiance against the endless night?” Renfri’s bladed arms glistened red and wet in the dim tavern light, and the black pits of her eyes sparked hotly with the joyous violence of distant stars. “Why, Calanthe, I thought you’d never ask.” “Jaskier, give Mousesack my order to hold the tavern behind us as long as he can, by any means he can.” Calanthe stretched and limbered open her enormous brazen wings, and the tavern seemed to distort and expand around them all, making room for her. Every feather was a sword, and her lashing tail now more closely resembled a whip tipped with steel teeth, striking embers in the air and sending red cinders flying every time it cracked.
Jaskier grabbed Geralt’s arm, attempting to pull him along, before realising Geralt still couldn’t detect where he was. For all that Jaskier wasn’t simply passing through Geralt, as though not a solid object, Geralt still seemed impervious to his touch, and pulling on him was like pulling on a mountain in hopes it would budge.
Crimson Peak sequel:
Nate never set out to be a ghost hunter.
Bollocks, William would say, in that lounging, charmingly-arrogant way that was all flattened vowels and half-swallowed consonants. Your mam and pap bein’ who they’d be, what else could you be, Nathe?
Glitterverse:
“Anders, if anyone in this group deserves a punch…” Varric trailed off, hands hovering over Hawke’s prone form like he was afraid to touch her. “Hawke, come on. Wake up.”
His hands finally settled on brushing Hawke’s hair away from her face and Cassandra hissed as she stepped around for a better view: Hawke’s thin wrists were covered in angry red marks, some already darkening to purple. The bruising was grotesque in the stark magelight, no softer than a crime scene tech’s flashlight, and it took Cassandra several blinks to dismiss the intrusive image of Daniel’s bruised, broken face highlighted by a similar harsh light months and months ago.
Distantly, a door opened and the chattering of the party drifted down the hall for a moment, a reminder of where they were. “We need to go,” Cassandra said, armoring her heart back in her training, stopping the sideways slide from sorrow over Daniel to Hawke with brutal pragmatism. Mourning and memories were luxuries she couldn’t afford right now; there would be time for falling apart once they were safe. “Either she wakes or someone carries her, but Bartrand will kill us if we don’t get out.”
When neither man moved, just stared at their friend so pale in the dark, Cassandra hissed again. “Tethras, move your ass!”
Shakarios:
There are a few days, Garrus marvels, when the universe is still able to surprise him. Usually it’s in bad ways, like a thug having more firepower, or Grunt’s grenades having a dud at the wrong moment. Having Cerberus drones appear out of goddamn nowhere.
This moment, though, where the artificial sunrise of the Citadel skims pale fingers over the curve of Shepard’s waist, gentle and lovely on the freckles and scars life has left on her, is glorious. Thane’s dark eyes blink at him sleepily from the other side of their Commander, mouth already curved in invitation. “How long’ve you been ‘wake?” Garrus asks through a yawn.
“A while,” is the soft reply. “It is a rare pleasure to see her at peace.” Delicately-scaled green fingers reach for his own, stroking with what Io would call intent. Garrus’ throat flushes, heat crawling up from his chest, at the memory of just what those soft fingers can do.
Tagging, no pressure: @aban-asaara @systlin @shetanshadowwolf @thebisexualmandalorian

as someone who wants to be involved in the cosmere fandom but I can't seem to. do you have any recommendations?
umm so like...while i think im pretty involved (feel free to correct me tho) i think the main reason i made a sideblog and started posting so frequently was because no one irl would understand cosmere Jokes, you know? Like i’ve kinda been all about the jokes since day one, so like my main motivation was kinda waking up and going ‘oh my god that would be so fuckinnnng funnny’ and then making a dumb edit or post or whatever
so like do what you want to see? like i got lucky, what i wanted to see was Jokes and it turns out a bunch of other people thought slapping a kaladin quote on a pic of sasuke was funny for some ungodly reason, and that made me post more jokes along those lines.
if what ur into is edits or theories or just like liveblogging the books, 90% chance a bunch of people like me who semi-regularly cruise the cosmere tags are gonna be into it
send me asks i gotta stay up all night

Cosmere update???
alright y’all might remember that at some point this year i read stormlight archive and when i tried to understand Hoid better I got into Cosmere(I made one post abt it so I don’t expect anyone to remember it lmao! Also pls ignore that post it was more self deprecating than I would like!)
Anyway, I am finally done with reading all the books and I am slowly making my way through coppermind and wobs and there’s so much here!!!!!!!!!
I read everything in the wrong order and I knew nothing about Adonalsium or the shards for the entirety of my stormlight read so I made some very wrong assumptions lmao. I’m gonna put everything here cause I feel like it and I also know no one else who’s read the books to discuss this with.
(Disclaimer:It’s 1 am and I’m amped up on painkillers and I know very little compared to all the overwhelming data in this fandom. I didn’t even know what RAFO or WOB meant until day before yesterday.)
The rest of the garbage is under the cut.
Sel:
I could not find an answer to this anywhere? So hopefully someone here knows? Whose voice talked to Raoden in the perpendicularity when he went Hoed??? Was it devotion or like a shadow/splinter???
Are people from Ire the same generation as Elantris era?
Is there a connection between Iri and Ire??? I actually mistook Ire for Iri in secret history and got confused for a bit lmao.
Nalthis:
What happens if someone from Nalthis gives their breath to someone from other planets? No one can take breath but you can just give it? Will it stick just as well???
I did not Vasher or Vienna when I read SA and I didn’t make the connection after I read warbreaker either. That was a big coppermind surprise. I need to reread sa so forgive me if I make mistakes.
I’m guessing Lightsong saw the sequel in the painting but is it possible for him to see Roshar?
We know Nightblood sucks in investiture(?) it seems easier on Nalthis or Roshar but how would that work on Scadrial or Sel or Threnody or Taldain??? Will it just eat the mists? Turn the sand black? Hurt the shades?
Can Nightblood be used in hemalurgy as a spike? What metal is it made of? Does the type of the metal affect the way breath sticks to it(other than aluminium)? Where does the investiture go?
Can you bring the dead back by giving them Returned breath? (Not as a lifeless) Also can one Returned give breath to another Returned dead to bring them back? Can dead Returned be turned into lifeless??? Can a Returned’s breath be stolen using hemalurgy? How would hemalurgy even work on breath?
What will Hoid do if he ever gets his hands on Nightblood?
Scadrial:
Did Hoid use a lifeless to paddle through the preservation’s perpendicularity in Secret History? It looked like he awakened something???
Did Kelsier pin his cognitive shadow to a body? Whose body did he use? Is he using single spike to keep Harmony out? Is he now like a Returned? Is he still mistborn?
Is Ironeyes a fullborn now?
Can nicrosil store all types of investiture? Can Scadrians use the bands to access other investitures?
Can we alloy godmetals? Like Lersium and Atium make Ettmetal??? But what if we combine Lerasium with some other godmetal? Like honorblades(those are honor’s body right?)?
Can someone ascend by burning a lot of Atium or Lerasium?
Can Kandra burn Lerasium? Will they become mistborn if they do? What about mistwraiths?
What happens if Koloss burn Lerasium?
Is it weird that when I read Ettmetal can’t be burnt cause it explodes with water, I thought ‘ooh sandlings can eat it then!’?
First of the sun:
I really really want a book on this planet!!!!
Whose perpendicularity is on First of the sun??? I can only think of Odium tbh. He can see the future. He can get into people’s head(a bit like ruin but we know where ruin is???). Do we know where Odium’s perpendicularity is? Is it on Braize or Roshar? It could be small cause he is so far off.
I also wondered if this could be Hoid’s secret base? He did gather investiture for some reason? Maybe concentrating that on this planet caused a tiny perpendicularity? Can perpendicularities exist without full shards? It would also explain the weird powers???
Taldain:
When will we get full Khriss backstory????????????? I love her.
Threnody:
How did Nazh get off the planet?
Is Evil a shadow/splinter of Odium or Ambition? I thought the shades were Ambition’s but the Evil is Odium’s. Or maybe Ambition is still alive(the power not the person?)
What does Aluminium do to shades?
Roshar:
I’m love Roshar!!!!!!!! Best world!!! The whole world is crabs stacked on each other!!!!!!
So Roshar seems like the closest to Yolen for me??? In one of the wobs brandon said there are tiny sentient dragons on yolen(correct me if I’m wrong) and that there are three sentient races, dragons are one, humans are two and the only other sentient race we’ve seen so far are Parshendi? This is assuming that Cosmere does not have races other than what was on yolen.
Are Sleepless dragons or maybe a type of dragons? Is that what frost meant when they said they observe?
On a related note, what the hell happened to Aimia?
City of shadows-shadows like shades?
Ok so when I first read sa I didn’t know abt shards so I assumed there were three gods Unity, Honor and Cultivation. Odium killed Unity first and then came for Honor(I actually assumed odium honor and cultivation killed unity first??? something abt the reaction odium gave when dalinar ascended??? I’ll find the quote that set me off someday). The sibling is Unity’s shadow like stormfather or nightwatcher. Now I know Dalinar probably changed the shard name to Unity when he ascended like Harmony did?(I am still very confused. I’m hoping a reread will make this clear.)
Is Cultivation the shard from silent divine? The whole disease for power sounds like a boon and curse???
Which other god did humans have before Odium chased them over to Roshar? Odium was going exclusively for shards? Did cultivation come over from another planet in the same system and brought humans with her??? coppermind says honor and cultivation settled on Roshar so was there a third shard? Is that shard related to the sibling?
Is Cusicesh the sibling? I only have the pronouns to go on for this? Stormfather used they and Cusicesh was said to have both male and female faces?
So spren freeze when recorded? Does that mean once their cognitive aspect is fixed they also become fixed? Is that what happened to Cusicesh? It was recorded that they appear the same way in the same place and that just happened?
(Why am I so fucking obsessed with this one damn spren?)
I also want more about Axies and Aimia in general??? Can the Iriali or the Aimians (Sian? non sleepless ones) become knights radiant?
Can parshendi bond with the unmade?
Is there a parshendi shard? Are they all human?
Is kalak shin???(He looks like a child?) (According to a quiz I took, I am a WillShaper!!!)
I wanna know more about Willshapers!!!!!!!
Why does one of the heralds have horns????????or is that just a helmet and im an idiot?
Was Jazrien tanavast at some point???(I know a shardholder can survive a splintering!)
Did Odium make Hoid averse to hurting people? Like the shard on Obrodoi is instilled with hate for Hoid? Can Odium instill a intense hatred of harm in Hoid? Is that what pissed Hoid off or Odium did it cause Hoid was pissed off???
So the waters especially rivers and oceans are one continuous bead because they think of themselves as a whole? So what if we get enough soulcasters? Can we turn the whole of them into something else?
How did Nazh get Shallan’s notes from the ocean? What happens when things sink into the ocean in cognitive realm? Do their beads become a part of the big ocean one or they just lie on the surface?(Does this make sense?)
If origin is honor’s perpendicularity then how did dalinar open it? Like can one shard have two perpendicularities?
What are dawnshard? did vyre kill jazrien with a dawnshard? could they be cultivations body???
Was honor splintered on shattered planes? or city of shadows????? Or aimia???
Are the major human cities so symmetrical cause they are landing spots for the space ships??? After so many years of crem the ship should just look like windblades???
Did eshonai die cause she bonded a spren and her plate and shardblade started screaming and she got overpowered in the highstorm???
Renarin and Lift can heal people together now???
Stormlight looks like breath in cognitive realm? What does mist looks like???????
Cosmere:
Is it possible to become savant on other types of investiture?
Can Adonalsium see future? Did Adonalsium choose to get shattered? Could Adonalsium have influenced Hoid to do what he does like preservation and his plan? Is there a threat to cosmere from outside(all i can think of is another galaxy crashing into it?)? Was the holder of Adonalsium killed?
So one big theme of Cosmere is rebirth so is Adonalsium gonna be born again?
What is the scar constellation? The tear also nags at me for some reason???
Who is Senna???(Preservation mentions them once??????)

Quick question, Cosmere buddy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Radiants earn new powers as they say their oaths? And if yes, was it ever explained why the Honorblade Szeth had only gave him the three basic abilities of a Windrunner?
okay! this took so long bc I needed to finish my yearly reread of Words of Radiance. having done so, I can now confidently answer!
i have no frickin idea about the first portion, man. events regarding the Words are a tad inconsistent. so let’s analyze what we have!
side notes: all quotes here come from my (incredibly abridged) research, but I’m fairly certain everything is in the right order. we only have Kaladin and Lift to go off of here because Shallan’s only Words were apparently spoken years ago, we haven’t had much of anything regarding Renarin’s progression as a Surgebinder, and all Dalinar did was scream his first and second Ideals at the sky.
so when Kaladin speaks his second Ideal (Way of Kings) he gets a massive energy boost and a cool Stormlight effect:
The Words, a voice said, urgent, as if directly into his mind. In that moment, Kaladin was amazed to realize that he knew them, though they’d never been told to him.
“I will protect those who cannot protect themselves,” he whispered.
The Second Ideal of the Knights Radiant.
A burst of whiteness washed out from him, a wave of white smoke. Stormlight. The force of it slammed into the first rank of Parshendi, tossing them backward, and Teft had to hold his hand up against the vibrancy of the light.
The powerful light began to subside, retreating. A more subdued glow began to steam off his body. Radiant, like smoke from an ethereal fire.
Just moments ago, the lad had looked near death, skin a dull grey, hands shaking. Now he was a shining whirlwind, a storm wielding a spear.
…but he doesn’t get any new abilities/powers; he doesn’t immediately gain the ability to Lash, for instance. however, when Lift speaks/thinks her second Ideal (Words of Radiance), she is able to perform Regrowth when she has never done so before:
I will remember those who have been forgotten.
Lift leaned forward, touched her forehead to his, and breathed out. A shimmering something left her lips, a little cloud of glowing light. It hung in front of Gawx’s lips.
when Kaladin speaks his third Ideal (Words of Radiance), he doesn’t explicitly get an event like the first one. perhaps that’s due to the nature of his predicament; Syl wasn’t present beforehand, so the massive Stormlight/energy boost would have just seemed like it was coming from the inhalation of a frick ton of Stormlight. but, in the second event, Syl can become a frickin Shardblade. similarly, Wyndle is able to transform into Shardweapons after Lift speaks her third Ideal, but she also doesn’t get a big Stormlight power boost (although that could again be due to the nature of her situation).
so atm i’m thinking it’s more of a spren leveling-up than a power gain. Kaladin wasn’t necessarily more powerful than he was before speaking the Words, although he may have appeared to be by virtue of direct contrast, while Syl was able to become a Shardblade after the third Ideal was spoken. Syl also seemed more aware of herself after both events. pretty much the same thing with Wyndle. but i kinda guess it’s a mutual leveling up? bc the Surgebinder needs to progress to the point where they can say the Words, and their partnership with their spren kinda needs to develop. not as literally as the spren change, though. and we can kind of call Dalinar into this with the fact that after he bonded the Stormfather, he was able to breathe in Stormlight (although he thinks he’s done it before???) so. little bit of uncertainty there.
onto the Honorblades portion. afaik and understand, the Honorblades are the weapons that the Heralds left behind. each of them should give the powers that their Herald held to their bearers; therefore, Szeth had Jezrien’s Honorblade. the Radiants’ spren copied what the Honorblades could do, and because of the spren and the Nahel bond, there was an exchange: with a bonded spren, a person could do the same things using significantly less Stormlight, but spren also imposed their oaths on the person. so Szeth is able to go around killing people for other people regardless of his personal honor because he has no spren, but he also requires a metric frick ton more of Stormlight to power it. Syl called this metric frick ton more of Stormlight dangerous, though we don’t know exactly why yet, to my knowledge. so, in line with the previous paragraph, Szeth gets the Windrunner abilities all at once bc he doesn’t need a spren, so the spren doesn’t need to level up. and i don’t really know if those are the only abilities of a Windrunner, so I’d hesitate to call them only the basic abilities, buuuuut we don’t really know much about that either. so that’s that.
as usual, I hope this is somewhat comprehensible and answers at least 62% of your question. I’m working on your other ask too! it’s great to answer them, they require so much thought and acknowledgement of how little we know. it’s fantastic. we’re gonna get to know so much more. feel free to ask me to clarify or anything!

Sustaining the illusion required Shallan to provide a constant source of Stormlight. She walked back into the bedroom and set a sphere on the floor inside of Veil’s foot.
When she walked away, the illusion still grew indistinct, like a bubble preparing to pop. Shallan turned and put her hands on her hips, staring at the version of Veil that had gone all fuzzy.
“Annoying!” she snapped.
Pattern hummed. “I’m sorry that your mystical, godlike powers do not instantly work as you would like them to.”
