When I say "I want to see more Mandalorian culture" I don't mean the "this is how xyz is connected to being a warrior!" I mean "these are the art movements within Mandalore, these are the famous songs in Mandalore, this song/art movement has origin in Mandalore/Mandalorian people, these are the ways that were adopted when a large group of people WILLINGLY joined Mandalorians, this is the festivals/cultural events that happen, this is a famous poet, this is a famous writer"
Connecting it to the warrior side is all good, but there's always more to culture than "they were really good warriors that started wars Often"

Came across this...
... Satine would 100% do this but go in an actual bus full of people, even if only to prove a point to some minister.

I'm making a post about influences from the Canon New Mandos and Jedi that the Fanon True Mandalorians have
If you want to see a specific point referenced/talked about, leave it in the replies or in my inbox

Reminder
Unless you are writing a huge au that changes a lot of background, Mandos Hate or at very least Strongly Dislike Jedi
They aren't people who "are basically the same in different fonts", they are people who had differing ideologies until the New Mandalorians were created (which can be as far as less than a thousand years ago to 20 years ago) because before that the mandos were Pretty Much Imperialist
Even if you go with "True Mandos aren't that!", Jaster is only the Mando'alor for a small amount of time and before that the TM were part of the same group that Death Watch was in and *even then* he was chosen because he wanted to change how Mandalorians worked as Bounty Hunters and make them more Honourable (and even Then it's... Questionable with some of his actions)
Like
Not hate towards fics who make the Jedi and Mandos whole problems boil down to Sith or misunderstandings, it's just it would be a lot more interesting to read imo if only recently were the Mandos changing enough to get along with them and that being a symbol of how far they became, how far they are from their coloniser ancestors and terrorist kin, and that even Then there are issues to deal with because they are Still getting better and there are Still a lot to do that doesn't boil down to "there was a disagreement in a certain action and the Nandos were right even if the jedi were upset"

Su'cuy!
Hi! I'm MR (yes, with the capital letters) or Crazy and my pronouns are She/Her, though I don't mind They/Them and Very Much Do Mind He/Him! This is my Mandalorian Focused side blog, the main being @mrfandomwars, that was made because I wanted to have a place focused on the Mandalorians alone.
Some random facts:
- I'm Pro New Mandalorians
- I'm Pro Jedi
- I do not believe in the Korkie Kenobi Theory
- My main Mando Blorbo is Tarre Vizsla
- I tend to go with Canon and not Legends, that last one sure gave me a headache when it comes to my faves being mistreated by fans

New Mandalorians ARE the Canon Version of the True Mandalorians
Ok so, a long time coming but here's the gist:
I truly think that the New mandalorians are, to canon, what the True Mandalorians are to fanon.
Yes fanon, not Legends Canon because they aren't as good as people make them out to be in, you guess it, fanon.
Let's get on with it.
To start, let's established what I mean with Fanon True Mandalorians and Canon New Mandalorians.
New Mandalorians are show to:
Want to move on from their Imperialistic History
Not erasing any history (see: murals in the city) nor the language (see: the mando'a all over the city, in the Academy and Satine openly speaking it) nor even their warrior traditions (see: kids still knowing how to fight)
Seem to be the majority of the population, composed by a big mile by Non-Warrior AKA the majority of the population even before the civil war.
Are hated by the Death Watch
Are the middle ground
Want and Do focus on the non-warrior traditions and elite (after centuries of it being the focus on their sector), but not to the extreme of banning all warriors (see: The Mandalorian guard, the Protectors - who are lead by Fenn Rau) instead possibly asking the Warriors who Refused to back down to not start shit in return of having the least damaged planet/moon aka Concordia
Are trying to make Mandalore and it's people Better
Those outside of the Royal Guard and the police don't seem to wear armour, though those seem to not be the bounty hunting version of it and those who Don't wear it certainly seem to use clothes with the beskar heart - the Kar'ta Beskar - in them
Follow a more progressive type of government - out from the Warrior's Elite control and more into the non-warrior population (aka the majority of the population)
Don't seem to have problems calling non-warriors Mandalorians as long as they meet a certain criteria
The Fanon True Mandalorians, meanwhile (from what I could gather from fanfictions):
Warrior Focused but out of necessity because of the Civil War, but don't seem to want to focus All on the warriors
Are Hated by the Death Watch
Are the middle ground
Care about their culture
Don't seem interested in going imperialists
Are trying to make Mandalore and it's people Better
Wear Armour even outside of battle
Don't seem to be the majority of the population - fanon varies between them being a minority or being a big part of the population (or at least, the minority with the support of non-warriors)
Follow a more traditional Mandalorian Government
Don't seem to have problems calling non-warriors Mandalorians as long as they meet a certain criteria
From these, we can that they ARE similar, and if we go further into semi-canon (which is iffy but we are handling fanon while talking about canon, so I will allow it) we do know that the New Mandalorians and True Mandalorians were at least relatively neutral towards each other, imagine if the True Mandalorians were their fanon self? They would get along way better!
But that's not the point of this post, the point is to show how the New Mandalorians are the Canon Version of the True Mandalorians with a few tweaks - which I do think I already proved from the points alone.
Out of the 10 points I spoke about, 6 they immediately agree on (even if on the last points they need to have a conversation on what their mutual criteria would be), with the first and seventh point being an half point since they are in a civil war and seem to be part of warrior clans, and we were not shown any of the warrior clans in the New Mandalorians outside of Satine, a Pacifist that leads by example (hence not using her armour, especially because she might have trauma related to it), Korkie, a child that may very well not see the point to when everyone doesn't wear it + there is peace (maybe he only used it from traditional celebrations), and Almec, who doesn't wear the armour until there's a civil war again.
Either way, summed up it's 6 points out of 10 that they agree on, more than half.
The New Mandalorians could simply be the True Mandalorians but evolved post war, or, as I suggested in the start of the post, they ARE the Canon Version of the True Mandalorians.
Simply because they weren't wearing armour at all times or fighting or part of the War, people threw them under the bus as 'genocidal colonizers' (even though nothing in canon suggests otherwise, if anything it suggests the opposite).
Personal Thoughts: The Canon New Mandalorians and the Fanon True Mandalorians are a LOT more alike than people think and it's sad that all they can seem to write is 'New Mandalorians Bad, True Mandalorians the BEST EVER'.

I don't know who needs to hear this but the Mandalorians very much did colonize other planets
Their imperialism and crusades to take over planets is one of the things they are known for actually

From Peace Times To War Times
There is something to be said about the fact that when we first see the Protectors is in TCW and they are in their traditional armour and protecting the ruler chosen by the people in Mandalore.
And the next time we see them it's in rebels and not only have they have been chased off to Concord Dawn but they are wearing the combat version of their armour.

My Favourite Mandalorian Headcanon...
... is that the true reason why the Death Watch stepped in when they did during the take over by the Shadow Collective because other Mandos were kicking their ass
Like, in a planet with 4 million people Vs 5 thousand (maybe less if a few groups were arrested already - and this is talking about which one is more likely to take out an army of crime syndicates), which one has the bigger amount of warriors? Especially if you go with the "everyone was a warrior and there just existed warrior centric clans that were in charge of the sector until the New Mandos appeared" it means that the majority of the population knew how to fight and stand up to themselves and the only reason we saw people running was because they decided to leave their weapons at home or because they were operating under 1st rule of fighting which is that if you are outnumbered, the other side is better armed, stronger, faster or Everything I just stated you run
Are you telling me people who are part of a warrior culture wouldn't know those basic rules?
I 100% believe that the Shadow Collective was getting their asses kicked because they were Mandalorian Turf
Sure they were attacking specific targets but like. Are you really telling me that no one else would have stepped up to defend those places in a planet full of warriors???
Sure you could argue that maybe no one around beyond the guards and those were getting overwhelmed...
... Which just means that the Death Watch stepped in to avoid the Guards from getting reinforcements and ending the whole thing.
