Curious. What do you mean by Dust till Dawn going against it's Characters? I know I have my own feelings, or confusion, with how they left Kate's story.
From Dusk Till Dawn effectively character assassinated every single character in the very last episode including Kate Fuller. No one is acting like themselves in that series finale it's like some deranged fanfic writer came aboard and hijacked the show while no one was looking. If you thought 15x18 & 15x19 of Supernatural were bad and believe me they really are; those episodes are minorly salvageable against the slaughterhouse that Dusk 3x10 was. It utterly contradicts and ignores everything the show put forward in all 3 seasons. I will never watch that episode again.
Tumblr media
I'll first explain what that piece of shit did to the show's lead protagonists, the Gecko brothers. Regardless of how you or anyone else feels about Supernatural's series finale; that show was a saint to Sam and Dean's storyline beginning to end compared to how From Dusk Till Dawn definitively butchered Richie and Seth. I'm sad saying this because Zane Holtz and DJ Controna are outstanding as these characters. I freaking love their chemistry man, it's a great rival to J2! They're the badass dark clones of the Winchesters.  Their arc starts out fascinatingly complex because they went from cold-blooded criminals/bad guys and meanwhile during their escape over the Mexican border with this hostage family the audience is told pretty quick by Professor Aiden Tanner that the Geckos are destined to become these foresworn warriors The Mayan Hero Twins in an ancient prophecy (based on real Mesoamerican lore) who battle the Underworld. So right away the show is telling us ahead where Seth and Richie are suppose to end up in their journey and when you introduce a storyline this big I expect a satisfying payoff.
At the end of season 1, Richie Gecko is *SPOILER ALERT* transformed into a culebra (snake-vampire) while Seth Gecko remains human symbolizing their night and day Hero Twin counterparts from the legend. And they're separated in the first half of season 2 where both try to navigate this new supernatural world they've stumbled on individually. What they find, no different than the Winchesters, is that neither can function properly without the other making their destiny all the more valid. That season is practically constructed like their swan song to the criminal lifestyle since the brothers are meant to become more than crooks; and since Richie's a vampire they can't ever go back to basics. Their adopted father aka uncle Eddie actually says the line "this is my swan song" in 2x07 to Seth and Richie in reference to their final heist together which is not a coincidence. That's the writers telling us that the Gecko Brothers' role in the show is going to shift from anti-heroes to heroes very soon. Eddie and Kate Fuller's fates in S2 act as the primary catalysts for this transition taking shape in the finale.
Going into season 3 it's business as usual for the boys until the prophecy of the twins officially rips a hole in the damn universe via demon queen Amaru. Who's now possessing Kate. Throughout that season Seth and Richie embark on a journey of heroism; find themselves battling monsters, actually saving civilians and dealing with their own personal demons (guilt and remorse over past sins). That year is presented as their redemption arc and final phase into their new role. No one ever tells them about their destiny (despite most of the other characters knowing) but we as the audience are already aware as we watch the brothers in action. The best episode is without a doubt 3x06 the crown jewel of From Dusk Till Dawn because it's about overcoming the darkness inside. And who best represents that than Richie; the show's most important central character whom began the series as a deadly clairvoyant criminal into the tortured vampire hero struggling with his own humanity. Now I won't spoil the whole episode for anyone who hasn't seen it or the show in general but it's an incredible moment of character development for both the Gecko brothers. Not only does it cement their powerful bond it's the episode that defines who these two are once and for all. The ones who lead the battle between good and evil; keep the balance of light and darkness. One day I plan to do an entire analysis of that episode because it's so fucking brilliant and shot so incredibly eerie at the same time 😁
You want to know what 3x10 does to these characters? It shits all over their entire storyline and pisses away THREE FUCKING SEASONS of character development. Just flushes it all down the toilet rendering everything they've ever done up to that point completely pointless! Their destiny which is the WHOLE POINT OF THE SHOW is suddenly dropped last minute and the Geckos hit reset on their former criminal escapades; dragging Kate along with them. I hate that finale with the fire of a thousand suns for what it does to Richie and Seth 😡
Tumblr media
Moving on to Carlos Madrigal. He is the best villain character in the history of show villains hands down. I can actually say that without blinking. Wilmer Valderama is phenomenal, he steals the show as Carlos. He's is so freaking awesome, evil and badass! I just want to keep seeing this man tear things apart while being the sexy asshole he is 😈For all intents and purposes I don't want to spoil his whole storyline on the show for those following me in case they're interested. But what I will say is 3x10 destroys this character; so don't watch it if you want to keep the memory of who he was alive. I'm actually depressed over what was done to him as much as I feel sorry for Wilmer having to perform that shitty script. It's laughable in a very bad way. Gotta hand it to the writers and showrunners of FDTD they certainly knew how to humiliate their best characters in this series. Carlos basically goes from charismatic yet lethal Hannibal Lecter to a very captain obvious Gandolf caricature. Yah you heard that right, it's really fucking sad.
Tumblr media
Next we have Freddie Gonzalez; the audience's avatar into the series. This character is connected to everyone on the show for a reason because of the crucial part he plays in this universe. The "Peacekeeper" destined to police the line between the supernatural world from the human world. In the beginning he's a Texas deputy on a quest to avenge the murder of his father figure/partner Earl McGraw via the Gecko Brothers. But once he steps in that territory of monsters there's no going back. And FDTD repeatedly tells him and the audience this in the first 2 seasons. But then 3x10 pulls the ultimate fuckery by giving him the most cliched, nonsensical hallmark ending effectively cancelling out his entire purpose in the series. He instantly forgets that he ever cared about Kate, watching her bleed out on the ground, then leaves the Geckos high and dry rushing his family (who isn't injured) to the hospital. And he stays there while the battle continues 😣
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kate and Scott Fuller OMG words cannot describe my anger over what was done to them so I'll make it fast. I'll begin with Kate the bright light and heart of the series. Her arc in the first two seasons is excellent. It's emotionally driven because she begins as an ordinary girl in broken yet seemingly-happy family to a young woman finding her way around the supernatural world maintaining her faith and moral compos while trying to help her brother after he's *SPOILER ALERT* been turned into a vampire; paralleling the Geckos's situation. Scott being only a 16 year old kid, like Richie, struggles immensely after his transformation; searching for meaning as a cursed individual and coping with his duality. He was already different to begin with so being a vampire adds some interesting layers to his character.
Tumblr media
Btw Kate plays a vital role in Richie and Seth's lives, though in my opinion is more strongly connected to Richie. The show even goes as far as developing the early glimpses of a romantic arc between Kate and Richie (seeing as they kiss twice) with angst at the end of season 2 that is never resolved. You want to know why it wasn't? Not only does season 3 mute Kate's voice and agency but 3x10 ruins her character and demolishes her whole arc with Richie (who spent all of season 3 trying to save her) at the last second due to fan pressure of those who shipped her with Seth. They don't exchange one word nor barely look at one another it's like seasons 1&2 never happened. This is the biggest fuck you to fans of these characters I've ever witnessed in a series and they did my boys Adam and Michael so dirty in Supernatural. Poor Scott whom the show enjoyed kicking around all season barely gets a thing to do in that series finale either than listening to his sister and Seth gab about prom lol. Yah you heard me I'm not making this shit up I swear. Then he gets abandoned by Kate while she goes off to be a bank robber with the character assassinated versions of Seth and Richie. How extraordinary 😖
Tumblr media
Santanico Pandemonium is really the only character in the series who manages to get out unscathed. HOWEVER her arc is handled very poorly beginning to end. They set up an arc between her and Seth that also goes absolutely nowhere. Give her zero closure with Richie whom she sired, dated and used in S2. And randomly throw her in a scene with Kate that makes no fucking sense after these two had nothing to do with one another all series. On top of that Santanico is barely in season 3 so by the time the show wraps her arc feels incomplete.
Other characters go missing that no one notices, the new bad guy whom they've set up at the end is just left hanging. And Richie Gecko, you know the show’s other lead, is horribly sidelined after 3x06 to make way for the Seth Gecko solo show. When I say FDTD series finale is bad I mean it's really fucking terrible and blasphemous.

8x8 Rewatch: Ogden Greeley
Parallels to Raymond, Carla, and Katarina, with the only difference that Ogden Greeley was actually involved in selling secrets, whereas Raymond was not.
Tumblr media
If it weren’t for Red and Anne, this episode would be completely garbage to me. Red totally went to the park to meet with her again. And she's into him as much as he's into her. I know some people believe she’s a plant, but I 100% disagree with that assessment. Her questions about what he does for a living have nothing to do with spying on him and everything to do with wanting to know him as a person. When strangers meet, that’s what they do. They get to know eachother.
Tumblr media
She definitely draws his attention, easily. Makes him giggle and smile. But mostly, she makes him want more for himself. Her character totally has purpose. Talking about birds building a nest and raising a brood only to leave it. Exactly what Rederina did with Liz, not that he had a choice. But I sense specificities with her. I believe this will be a temporary relationship that will have a permanent impact on his character.
Anne: I realize I know nothing about you. I've been doing all the talking. Red: I think it's been just divine.
Pull in the diviner soundtrack from when they first met.
♪ I'm a keeper of secrets, pray to tell I'll be your disciple, show yourself Living a fever dream, lost control You be my diviner, show me where to go ♪
Tumblr media
Dembe: You said you needed one hour. It's been three. Red: Has it? Oh my goodness. I feel like a different person.
I think Anne has the capacity to resurrect Katarina. Red feels like a different person because he was a different person. But it’s Anne who’s making him feel this way. Young again. Ordinary again. I think he longs for the normal life he used to have, surrounded by loved ones without fear of danger. Just a moment of peace. His life is such a lonely life because love is weakness, and the people closest to him will always be at risk just as he is. To have even the slightest chance of an ordinary life, a peaceful life, Red would have to let go of his criminal life. Not just some of it. All of it.
Tumblr media
Dembe: As I was saying... Red: You weren't saying, you were raining all over my parade. Dembe: I understand what she means to you. What she represents. But you walked away from an ordinary life a long time ago. Red: Dembe, it's a movie. Dembe: She doesn't know who you are. She'll get hurt, Raymond. You don't want that. Red: The only person who's going to get hurt by our going to see North By Northwest, is Martin Landau, when he falls off Mount Rushmore.
The very reason Red stands her up. He doesn’t want Anne getting hurt. But as they say, the heart wants what it wants. If Red’s heart wants her bad enough, he’ll reach out again. I’m fully expecting Anne’s return around episode 13 and/or 14 along with her friend, Lois.
Cooper: That's it. That's what ordinary people do. You should try it sometime. An ordinary life. It's really quite extraordinary.
Tumblr media
I like this direction for Red. Because if he can’t be honest with Liz, how can he expect anything real with Anne. I feel that’s Anne’s purpose. She’s going to push him for that normal life. A life without danger. To find peace before he passes.
Anne: Some people like to live dangerously.  Red: Yes. Some do.
Like Rederina.
Katarina: It's frivolous… exciting… dangerous.
The biggest impact I’m predicting from this, is a hard push for Red to tell Liz his truth. Because I feel that’s most important. Once he and Liz find peace, I think that will be enough to push him for more. Because he should want and hope for more. He deserves a bigger life. Dembe spoke of Anne not knowing who Red is. If she did and she can accept him for who he is, then why can't Liz. So I think that's where they're going with this... Anne recognizing the dangers as Liz would in learning Red is her mother. And in knowing, making that choice for themselves. Because it’s ultimately Anne’s choice just as it is Liz’s on whether or not they want to live dangerously if and until he settles into the ordinary.

A Buffy rewatch 7x12 Potential
aka you’re extraordinary
We did it, guys! We made it to the last season! Also, hello if you’re new, and stumbled upon this without context. As usual, these impromptu text posts are the product of my fevered mind as I rant about the episode I just watched for an hour (okay, sometimes perhaps two). Anything goes!
And goddamit, show! Just when I thought I had my thoughts and feelings on season 7 sorted, you give me this episode. Not fair.
Tumblr media
In case it wasn’t clear, I love Potential. A whole lot. It’s a bright shining light at the end of the tunnel that’s been the last couple of episodes for me.
And I’ve had a hard time putting my finger on what hasn’t been working for me with those. Last time, I specifically cited the addition of the many Potential Slayer characters as one of the reasons – but as today’s episode has proven, that’s not necessarily true on its own.
This episode has plenty of focus on Rona, Vi, Kennedy and all that gang. But at the same time, it also offers a pretty fantastic character story of one of our mains – Dawn.
Dawn obviously struggles with this idea of not being special, as she’s surrounded by all these girls who have the “potential”. But what’s even more interesting, is how she reacts to the possibility that she might be like them after all.
While Dawn may have had some resentment about not being chosen, she’s also fully aware of what it actually means to be a Slayer. Not only has she seen Buffy’s struggles throughout the years, she’s also extremely conscious of the fact that if she’s a Potential then for her to “fulfill” that said “potential”, Buffy would have to die. And that only makes her feel all the guiltier for wanting that, for wanting to be special.
For her to get power in that scenario, Buffy would have to lose hers. Along with her life. That’s pretty dark.
And yet who wouldn’t want to be special? To have been chosen, to have a purpose? Not only that, but a higher purpose at that, one that’s centered around helping others, and being part of something greater.
Especially as a younger sibling, who’s been destined to live in their older sister’s shadow for all of their life…
I like that Dawn takes the time to process that. She doesn’t take this lightly. She understands enough about what it’s like to have this responsibility to give her a pause.
She’s not rushing into adulthood just yet.
And sure, taking a stroll at night in Sunnydale is always a bad idea, but I can’t blame Dawn for wanting to get out of the house, with Willow, Anya and Xander arguing about the pros and cons of her being a Potential. She also runs into Amanda pretty fast, so from that point on, at least she’s not alone.
Plus, hey, she can hold her own.
That’s why she decides to just offer up her help to deal with Amanda’s vampire. It’s also her testing out how she feels about being a Potential.
And she does phenomenally. The scene where we cut between Dawn and Buffy’s lesson about how to fight a vampire gives me chills. She does all the things Buffy says a Slayer should do. She’s quick, resourceful, relies on her instincts… Even with the vampire overpowering her by the end, Dawn kicks ass.
Of course, once the Bringers show up attacking Amanda, Dawn realizes what that means. Her “no, you don’t want her, you want me” is both her trying to protect Amanda, and being disappointed that she’s not the one they’re after.
She’s not special. And for a moment it crushes her a bit. But she could still save Amanda, and help her find the strength and power in her. So that’s what she does.
I like this line later on between her and Xander. Xander says that she gave up the power in that moment without hesitation, and Dawn replies that the power was never hers to begin with.
This isn’t about relinquishing power and accepting our place in the world. The kind of power and destiny that’s befallen Amanda is hard. Sure, she’ll have a community and a purpose, but also pain, death and the weight of the world on her shoulders.
Dawn understands this. She was just getting used to the idea for herself, but she knows better than to blame Amanda for that loss of purpose. Instead she offers her support immediately.
I think my favorite revelation about the episode was that Dawn’s story wasn’t paralleling the other Potentials. It was paralleling Buffy’s.
Dawn was preparing Amanda for the world just as Buffy was preparing the Potentials. She wasn’t the star pupil – she was the teacher. One of the hardest, and yet somehow most thankless jobs in our society.
XANDER:  “They'll never know how tough it is, Dawnie, to be the one who isn't chosen. To live so near to the spotlight and never step in it. But I know. I see more than anybody realizes because nobody's watching me. I saw you last night. I see you working here today. You're not special. You're extraordinary.”
See, this is what I want from my Buffy episodes! Stories and episodes that develop and explore these characters. Those are the moments that are the most memorable for me. When Buffy tells Giles that she doesn’t want to die at the end of season 1. When Xander finds the strength in his ordinariness in The Zeppo. When Willow breaks down, letting herself feel her grief in the season 6 finale.
In a way, this is Dawn’s Zeppo episode. It’s not as meta, sure, but this is her coming of age story. Much like Xander then, she now knows who she is, and she’s okay with that. She has value and things to offer, even if it’s not as flashy or “special” as those Slayer abilities.
Meanwhile I love Teacher!Buffy, although this storyline somewhat feeds into my previous observations about how Buffy is being seen from an outsider perspective through the Potentials’ eyes. We never actually connect her to Dawn’s story in the episode for instance, and she remains oblivious of and detached from it.
Also, I ship Dawn/Amanda. Big surprise there.

The New Doctor
(based on #10)
The man walking down the street of the parallel earth was more extraordinary that his looks – and he was handsome. But if you looked closely, his eyes held a sadness that was so profound, one wondered how he bore the pain. He was tall and slim, long legs clad in blue jeans topped with a white t-shirt and blue jean jacket. His brownish hair was tousled due to his habit of running his hands through it, but it added to his looks rather than distracting.
The Doctor walked the streets of the parallel world with all of the memories of his counterpart, but although they were identical, he felt inferior. All it took was the words on one particular human being. A human being that was the reason for his being here – Rose Tyler.
Ever since that night on Bad Wolf Bay. The night the original Doctor gave Rose a great gift. A gift that has now been rejected.
Things were great in the beginning. He and Rose had begun a life together. They were both living on Pete’s estate outside of London. Having lost his wife Jackie in the parallel world, Pete had found himself falling in love with the other Jackie. He opened up his home to Rose and the Doctor and even had gone so far as to fund a computer shop for the Doctor – he had to earn a living somehow in this new world and he did have a way with computers. The shop kept him busy and gave him purpose, something he desperately needed.
Entering the shop, he stopped and wearily leaned against the counter. The words spoken this morning rang through his head like a movie on a loop. “I don’t want a regular Doctor. I want the Doctor who took me around the universe, exploring the stars. I want the excitement of that Doctor, not a 9 to 5 Doctor. I want MORE!”
More. One word that broke his heart. He had given up everything to be here in this world with Rose, and it was all for naught. In hindsight, he should have seen it coming. Rose was growing distant and, even though they never shared a bed, the intimate moments were fewer and fewer until they stopped. It was time for him to move on.
The shop housed a garage at the rear. In the center of the space sat a police box that he had been working on for almost a year. The TARDIS was not a machine, it was a living entity, grown and nurtured over time – and it was just hours away from completion. After a glance to make sure that all was going well, the Doctor turned to the workbench to make the final adjustments on his new sonic screwdriver. Today was the day – all was ready. The only question in his mind was does he tell Rose? Does he want someone who only wants him with conditions?
The closet at the back of the garage held his suit and iconic Converse high tops – his identity as the Doctor. The blue pin-striped skinny suit hung at the rear and he held it up almost reverently. It only took a minute to transform from the ordinary man on the street to the Doctor, and the suit was an instant boost to his self-esteem. As he looked into the mirror, the TARDIS shimmered to life in the background.
He had a couple of things to do before he left. Things that would be hard, but had to be done. The call to Pete was the first.
“What’s up Doc?” was Pete’s standard answer upon seeing the Doctor’s face on this screen. “You still at the shop?”
“Yes. But I won’t be for long,” the Doctor replied. “It’s ready. The TARDIS is complete.”
He saw the surprise on Pete’s face. Pete knew what he was working on at the shop, but thought it was a pipe-dream. “You’ll be going then?”
“It’s time. I’ve been here too long. Things aren’t the same,” came the reply.
Pete could see the sadness in the Doctor’s eyes, but, since they lived in the same home, he had seen the distance growing between the Doctor and Rose. “And Rose? Are you taking her with you?”
The Doctor saw the concern in Pete’s eyes. He knew the life that the Doctor led. There were lots of exploring and adventure, but equal amounts of danger.
“No. Rose needs to live her life here, with you and Jackie. I’m just going to be a memory – hopefully a fond one.” Eyes full of both sadness and excitement, the Doctor continued, “she is my next call. I’m not sure it will go well. I need to make sure that you and Jackie are there for her.”
“We will be Doctor,” came the immediate reply. “We will take care of her for you.”
“Thank you, Pete,” the Doctor answered. “Goodbye.”
The Doctor walked into the TARDIS and up to the console. Setting the coordinates, he looked at the phone sadly as he punched in Rose’s number, taking a deep breath as he waited for her to answer. He could clearly see the inside of the TARDIS in his display, knowing that she would see the same. It took 4 rings for her to answer. “Hello.”
In his display, the Doctor noted that she wasn’t looking at the screen, but rather off to the side. “Rose, look at me. It’s important.”
Her reluctance to look at him was evident, but eventually she did and her eyes opened wide in recognition. “You’re in the TARDIS!”
“Yes. I wanted to talk to you one last time before I leave.”
Rose’s face fell as the truth became clear. “And I’m not going.” It was a statement, not a question.
“I’m sorry,” the Doctor responded wistfully. “It’s time for me to move on – alone. It’s been a great ride though, hasn’t it?”
Tears rolling down her face, Rose couldn’t do anything but nod in agreement. She knew at that moment what she had lost, what she had thrown away. At his “Goodbye” all she could manage was a wave.
The connection broken, the Doctor allowed the tears to flow freely. Wiping them away, and engaging the TARDIS, his shout of “Allons-y” rang through time and space. The Doctor had returned!

Why All 7 Guardians of Light Were Meant to Use the Power of Waking
Tumblr media
Joshua: “In their world, something happened that brought their existence to an end. To keep them from fading altogether, I gathered up the very last remnants of their dreams and looked for a place to give them refuge. Here, I thought they might have a chance–that the pieces of their dreams could make them whole again. Maybe I could give them another chance.”
So, I feel like neither the Realm of Sleep nor the power of waking got properly utilized in the story. I don’t know exactly why, but there definitely were a ton of deviations from the story’s original vision. Maybe it had to do with making the game more accessible to new players. Or perhaps the higher-ups thought constant heart-diving would divert from the action too much, and casual fans wouldn’t appreciate that. Or maybe it was due to the cancellation of BBSV2. Whatever the case, the power of waking got erased from the story almost entirely by Kingdom Hearts 3. It was never even properly explained how the Realm of Sleep differs from the Realm of Darkness.
The whole concept of the Sleeping Worlds is based on ancient shamanism. A shaman is kind of like a death “midwife” or “ambassador”. Your soul is your connection to the divine. It is your source of guidance–and when you lose it, you're really in trouble. You’re stuck in the limbo of the astral realms. A shaman is an explorer within these realities for the purpose of bringing back information and for the purpose of healing. They find lost souls on the other side and attempt to help those souls cross over. When Riku became a Dream Eater for Sora, he basically became a full-fledged shaman.
Joshua was serving the exact same role for Neku and the others. When a person enters the Realm of Sleep, it is after the fragmentation of their soul. It’s a defense mechanism against unbearable trauma. That’s why the characters from The World Ends With You were so important to include in KH3D’s story. They all died in the real world and the Sleeping Traverse Town was a safe haven in another dimension, where they exist in a dream. The Realm of Sleep is a place of total darkness and safety. There’s no conscious awareness whatsoever, in order to shield the ego from pain.
Tumblr media
One of the major ceremonies a shaman performs is called a “shamanic journey”. A shaman goes into an altered state of consciousness and travels outside of the space-time continuum into the hidden realms that many term “non-ordinary”. Non-ordinary reality is a parallel universe to ours. Some call it the “Dreamtime”. There is no time in non-ordinary reality. Linear time only exists in the 3rd dimension of physical reality. According to shamanism, there are four “Worlds":
Upper World – The non-ordinary reality of the super-conscious. This is where the Spirit or Higher Self resides. It would be Heaven, essentially.
Middle World – The ordinary reality of the conscious. This is the world we currently exist in. The Realm of Light, basically.
Lower World – The non-ordinary reality of the sub-conscious. This would be the Realm of Darkness, where the individual sub-conscious and the collective sub-conscious merge. Shamans mainly work here.
Under World – There also exists an Under World. This is a state of unconscious that is NOT typically traveled to on shamanic journeys.
So what happens to people who wind up in the unconscious? Well, in the hidden realities there are compassionate spirits who offer their guidance and also their healing help on behalf of all life on earth. These would be the Dream Eaters in KH lore. And that’s basically their job. To escort souls to other, higher realms when they are finally ready. It’s actually not the job of humans to venture to such realms. What the the 7 Guardians of Light are attempting to do by reviving sleeping people is actually a pretty extraordinary endeavor for humans from the Middle World.
Tumblr media
Yen Sid: “If we are ever to strike down Xehanort, we need the individuals King Mickey spoke of in his letter. We must lead them out of sorrow and slumber, and back to our world. To do so, seven Sleeping Keyholes must be found and unlocked, and a great power retrieved.”
Acquiring shamanic power involves a “death initiation” ritual. The experience is supposed to bring them in touch with their own death and rebirth, ushering in a new stage of life. During an initiatory experience, a shaman often takes a person to the brink of madness, insanity, and deviance. The purpose of totally losing it is just that: to lose the ego’s hold over us. To loosen our consciousness---that limited, boxed-in perception of what life is all about and which imprisons us within it. It’s these moments of ego death that provide an experience of reality that is larger, deeper, and infinitely more exquisite and beautiful.
This initiation is typically not blissful, fun, nor healing. The shamanic experience is usually filled with terrifying and nightmarish visions or visits from spirits. If a person is called to take on the responsibility of a shaman they usually fall very ill or even to the brink of death. It is considered to be an initiation by the spirits. The experienced shaman keeps the shaman-in-training on the correct path during this process, although the person may believe they have totally lost it. That’s what Yen Sid was attempting to do for Sora and Riku. Yen Sid is using the ancient ways, since he’s a traditionalist. This is how Riku acquires the power of waking. He becomes a true Master.
Tumblr media
Speaking of the KH BbS secret cutscene, Ansem the Wise says that he hid his research results in Sora. This complies with what happens in KH Re:coded when Namine says DiZ (Ansem the Wise) has hid something inside Sora. Is that mystery remaining unsolved?
Nomura: Yes. Namine added data to the Jiminy Journal in order to convey that the “pain” of those connected to Sora must be healed, but at the point in time Ansem hid the research results inside Sora, he didn’t know that. Accordingly, Ansem’s research results will become the key to healing the “pain” in the future of the story.
But Sora doesn’t become a true Master. So there had to be a way for a non-Master to use this power. Ansem’s research was said to be the “key” to healing the future pain of the story. Nomura mentioned this many times, so it was clearly supposed to be very important. He said it was supposed to explain the way to bring back lost hearts. Yet that isn’t what it was revealed to be in KH3. At all.
"Believing light and darkness must remain in balance, Master Xehanort seeks to spark war against the ‘tyranny of light’ to restore equilibrium.
In an effort to undermine Xehanort’s plot, Sora, Donald and Goofy search for seven guardians of light and the “Key to Return Hearts,” while King Mickey and Riku search for previous Keyblade wielders.”
—Kingdom Hearts III press release (2013)
An initial press release even mentions something called the “Key to Return Hearts”. Where did that idea go? My conclusion is that Ansem’s research data got badly retconned and the importance of the power of waking was drastically minimized from what it was originally intended to be. Yen Sid implied that Terra, Aqua, and Ven were all in the Realm of Sleep. This power would be necessary to arouse them from their slumber. But the power of waking really wasn’t even used on most of them in KH3, leading to a very confusing story for many people, myself included.
Tumblr media
The importance of the power of waking even influenced the Disney world choices. Hercules rescued Meg from the Underworld due to his love for her. Rapunzel brings back Eugene with her light. Elsa’s love for Anna saves her from being frozen solid. Baymax is restored due to his bond with Hiro, etc. These characters are all using the power of waking. These Disney worlds were supposed to have an enormous relevance to the main story. It’s honestly mind-boggling that they still wound up feeling like filler, despite how thematically tied they are to the main plot.
I think the decision to minimize and alter the usage of the power of waking is the very reason everyone seemed to get “jobbed” in KH3. This was a major complaint I’ve seen everywhere. Everyone is constantly getting their ass kicked. My theory: There are countless scenes of characters getting knocked unconscious because that was when they were originally supposed to be using the power of waking. These “dive-into-the-heart” scenes would have been used for character development, and strengthening the relationships between the characters.
Tumblr media
At the end of 0.2 Aqua descended into an all-black realm. I think originally, that was the moment she went to the Realm of Sleep. That’s what the totally black background seems to represent in general. Unconsciousness. She can’t take the trauma of almost being saved, then watching that chance slip out of her grasp.
Tumblr media
When Sora finally arrives to save her, the scenes are almost identical. Sora would then have to use the power of waking on her. Since Ven’s heart is inside of him, he would be able to do this, not realizing exactly how he did it, though.
Tumblr media
I even think King Mickey was going to use the power of waking on Riku at some point in the story. The blackness looks identical to the Realm of Sleep. Perhaps Riku’s trauma is due to the darkness inside of him being part-Terra all along. This realization would make Riku feel pretty terrible and guilty for rejecting it.
Tumblr media
Then I think Riku would have to use it on Mickey, after he is defeated by Aqua. Mickey’s trauma would be the tremendous guilt he has over feeling like he abandoned his friends in the darkness for so long. Then Riku would be the one to be his light, just as Mickey was for him in Castle Oblivion. This would have allowed for much deeper development to their relationship, which has been a major focus since CoM.
Tumblr media
We already know that Ven has been in the Realm of Sleep since the end of BBS. And again, the all-black background is there. Somebody would need to dive into his inner self and finally awaken him.
Tumblr media
That’s exactly what I think Aqua was going to attempt. Sora still doesn’t know how this power works, so he can’t just give Ven back his sleeping heart. Aqua has a close heart connection with Ven, so she tries to awaken him. Then Vanitas arrives. There’s a force-field around Ven’s chamber, so it would take a while to break through. Aqua’s unconscious and helpless, since she’s in the astral realms. Ven’s heart awakens just in time to save her. The scene is similar to the one in BBS, when Ven is frozen solid and Aqua is about to be killed.
Tumblr media
Terra would have headed straight to the Realm of Sleep if Aqua didn’t save him the first time. I’m sure that by KH3, he was back there again---especially after becoming one of the 13 Seekers of Darkness. That’s just too traumatic.
Tumblr media
When I first saw the scene where Sora freed Terra’s heart, it immediately aroused my suspicions. It was way too quick and easy. I think Ven was originally going to be the one to use the power of waking on Terra. I don’t think anyone else was going to be unconscious during that scene. I think many scenes were rearranged in the final version of the story.
Tumblr media
That’s why when Terra wakes up, he immediately rushes straight to Ven. Not because he doesn’t care about Aqua; because Ven was just inside of his heart with him and now he’s the only one unconscious upon Terra’s revival. And that’s why he is crying when he tells Ven that he found him, just like he promised. He used the power of waking on him and found him in the deepest abyss. Their friendship would come full-circle after Terra told Ven he knew he’d be there when he really needed him. Ven would be the one to save his friend, not Sora.
Tumblr media
These scenes of everyone out cold are SO similar to the end of KH3D, where Riku is out cold after he dove inside of Sora’s heart. Everyone is huddled around him, worried. Donald is out cold, too. Maybe he was supposed to use the power of waking on Yen Sid or something? Or maybe he went to the Realm of Sleep, after the trauma of using Zetta Flare.
Tumblr media
I have absolutely no doubt that after getting kidnapped, mutilated, tortured, and possessed by Xehanort, Isa would have been in the Realm of Sleep along with Terra, Aqua, and Ventus. He’s been there ever since. So Lea would have to use the power of waking on his waifu Isa. To me, it seemed like Isa was created for that very purpose. To give Lea an extremely personal reason to be a Guardian of Light---to give him someone special to use the power of waking on, in order to make his story more emotionally gratifying. Kairi would try to protect him while he’s out cold, searching for his friend in the astral realms, and this would strengthen their friendship, too.
Tumblr media
If they had stuck with mind control plot, Isa wouldn’t have been a Nobody at the point he’s revived. When he was re-completed, his heart was still captured by Xehanort, so his body was just an empty shell. They didn’t need to make him a Nobody to use him as a vessel. So, instead of disappearing into darkness, he and Lea would probably just share a moment where Isa wakes up in Lea’s arms, somewhat similar to KH3. However, I think we missed out on a pretty great scene of Isa opening his eyes for the first time, showing they are green again. But my point is, all the scenes of everyone unconscious were supposed to be at the very end of the final battle---after Saix and Terranort are defeated, but before the Xehanorts are defeated.
Tumblr media
The press release for KINGDOM HEARTS III unveiled by Square Enix discusses the search for the “Key to Return Hearts.” Is there anything you can tell us about that?
Nomura : There are two possible meanings of the “key.” One of which is the “hardware” key, which opens doors - this is what keys are in general (laughs), and the other is the “light” key, that opens something else. In this case, it is currently unknown as to which type of key Sora must find. This is the main storyline of KINGDOM HEARTS III - Sora must go on an adventure to find the “key” without knowing what or where it is. But as you know, we can’t really say anything else on the subject (laughs).
This is the response Nomura gave in 2013, after that initial press release came out. Sometime after this interview, the story was changed quite a bit. There was absolutely no mention of a “Key to Return Hearts” in the final version of the story, and Ansem’s research data had a negligible impact on the story. In the original version of KH3′s plot, Sora clearly didn’t “get” whatever message Ansem’s research was meant to show him. He isn’t sure what kind of ”key” he is supposed to be looking for, and would spend the whole game looking for it. Is it a Keyblade or...something else?
Tumblr media
That’s quite different than what actually happens in the final game, where nobody acts like they have the slightest clue what they’re trying to accomplish. Nomura clearly hinted that the key was a “light” key. The light would open the door to “something else” and this would be the key that would show how to restore lost hearts and heal the “pain” of the characters.
It only makes sense that ALL the Guardians of Light would use this power in the story. It’s literally the power of light. That’s their entire purpose as guardians. This is what the Reiki weapons that Saix had were all about. As a Guardian of Light, you can use your OWN inner light, your aura, for healing purposes. To bring back a person from their sleep and to heal their pain. You don’t need to be some kind of official master. It’s not about a title. It’s about your heart’s connection with the person. Anyone can become someone else’s Dream Eater.
Tumblr media
Sora uses this power on everyone during the final battle. I think that everyone getting wiped out was always a part of the story. But Sora saves them, proving that you DON’T need to be a true master to use the power of waking. Then Kairi saves Sora. Kairi is NOT a Keyblade Master. I think Kairi was supposed to be the real hero who saves Sora with her pure light after he uses (or abuses) the power of waking on everyone else. While looking to rescue her, she actually rescues him. That would be a total reversal of her position as a damsel in distress. That’s what makes the most sense to me.
A gold aura signifies divine protection and enlightenment. When you radiate this color aura, it means that you have achieved something that not a lot of people can. The color of enlightenment. It says that the person is being guided by their highest good, and they radiate and glow with the gold energy. Those with a gold aura are able to radiate energy to heal others.
Mr. Nomura, since you are the one that is writing the scenario this time, how is the progress coming along?
Nomura: Since we are arriving near the conclusion of Xehanort in KINGDOM HEARTS III, the outline of the story has been solidified but not necessarily the direction where the KINGDOM HEARTS series is continuing to head. We are still trying to decide where to go from several choices.
Even when this interview was given in 2015, they didn’t know quite where the story was heading in the future. But the basic plot for KH3 was thought of loooooong before 2015. All of the changes to the plot and the butchering of character arcs came later. I’m not convinced that the time travel shenanigans in The Keyblade Graveyard were originally a part of the story. I think that was probably thought up later as a way to introduce us to the concept of time paradoxes and such.
Then the story could “seamlessly” switch over to the time-travelling Foreteller arc stuff and its original characters. Like our good friend “Subject X”. Lea and Isa’s story was butchered altered to accommodate Skuld existing in the current timeline. She wasn’t always supposed to be there, so she needed to take Isa’s place in the story. I suspect it’s the same with Kairi getting killed and Sora disappearing. It’s all just a way to focus on the Foretellers after the Xehanort arc got butchered. Just a hunch.

Jon Studied Jorah to Learn How to Deal with Daenerys
Jon’s eyes were a grey so dark they seemed almost black, but there was little they did not see.
- Bran I, A Game of Thrones
Jon Snow went to Dragonstone to convince Daenerys Targaryen to join the North in fighting the Night King. That was his stated goal. Everything about Political Jon is built upon that one single purpose.
Tumblr media
His process changed along the way but Jon learned and adapted his approach based on what others around him were doing when it came to interacting with Daenerys. Oddly, after encountering Jorah, Jon Snow copied his approach the most obviously. Jon learned that in order to win her affection, he had to go to the greatest extremes.
But Jon’s trip came in stages. The first meeting? Did not go as planned.
Tumblr media
This is contemptuous Jon, one of the greatest Jons.
THIS NEXT SCENE WITH JON AND TYRION IS KEY
Tyrion unwittingly sows the seeds of Political Jon. He also left himself at a political disadvantage in dealing with Jon and Daenerys’ dynamic due to misreading Jon.
Jon is brooding on the cliffs of Dragonstone. Utterly disgusted with himself for not listening to Sansa. He doesn’t know what to do next.
Tumblr media
Tyrion also uses some words that Jon will later echo to Daenerys. About Daenerys protecting people.
Tumblr media
Tyrion also makes it very obvious that Jon will not be able to “reason” Daenerys into supporting the North. Talking King to Queen as reasonable people will be fruitless if the objective is to get Daenerys and her dragons North.
Tumblr media
Tyrion actually is probably the character that gave Jon the thought of changing his approach with Daenerys. And Tyrion even told him HOW.
You might consider asking some of the people here what they think of the Mad King’s daughter.
Tumblr media
After Tyrion says what he says, Jon begins to leave. Tyrion acts confused. He thought this was Jon giving up. I contend this was Jon leaving with a purpose. Tyrion quizzes him when he begins to leave about what he wants...so you’re led to believe Jon was leaving aimlessly. But why would he leave? That is the spot he purposefully picked to THINK ABOUT NOTHING. Tyrion misread Jon dramatically.
Tumblr media
Jon begins prodding people close to Daenerys, like Missandei. He thinks about the terms Daenerys used in describing herself like in her infamous “Faith in Daenerys Targaryen” scene. The scenes after this are Jon trying these different angles.
JON ON THE BEACH AT DRAGONSTONE
I actually think the cave scene was important in that Jon stepped up his “game” the first notch but it didn’t work. For the sake of relative brevity, I’m skipping to the beach when Daenerys is deciding whether to kill everybody in King’s Landing. Something you don’t really want to have to debate with someone who fancies themselves a Queen. But I digress.
Over time, Jon learns the key: Daenerys absolutely has to think of herself as extraordinary and can’t stand the thought of being like everybody else.
As a result, she listens ONLY to those that dress up their advice as “you’re special and not like the Mad King - you see the Mad King would burn castles and people but you’re wonderful and nothing like that!”
It’s absolutely a tactic that Jon identified and adopted. Here are multiple examples of his applications.
Almost all of these gifs are focusing on Jon and Jon’s reactions:
Jon just heard Daenerys berating Tyrion for not wanting to hurt his family. Besides thinking “dafuq?” Jon is then put on the spot by Daenerys asking for war advice. JON GIVES HER NO WAR ADVICE. HE ONLY TELLS HER NOT TO COMMIT ATROCITIES AND DRESSES IT UP IN GENTLE LANGUAGE.
Tumblr media
Daenerys herself touted her achievements to Jon. They didn’t impress him then. All of the sudden he seems so impressed. Why? Is he speaking only to express his admiration? C’mon, you know better than that. He is attempting to keep her from burning a city of a million (give or take) people to the ground. But Jon knows that Tyrion and Missandei both go on about her accomplishing things no one else ever has. So he uses that. He knows only a few people have influence with her...so he tries to act like those people in dealing with her.
Tumblr media
Then he uses a phrase that visibly hurts Daenerys. He didn’t say she’d be evil. He didn’t say she’d be the Mad Queen. As far as insults go, on a scale of 1 to 10 this is about a 0.001. And seems to have wounded her pretty deeply, the insinuation that if she’s willing to use her dragons, then she’s not different. Not special. Not unique. I actually believe this had the opposite effect Jon intended. He doesn’t yet know that she feels like she can ONLY be different if she uses her dragons.
This part really did stun me. You know what it reminded me of most?
Tumblr media
Loki being faced with the prospect that strength alone does not make him special.
Jon is beginning to learn what Daenerys cares about. She cares about being special. About glory. About being revered. That makes sense. She was used as a pawn, she was traded multiple times, she was abused. She told Jon all of these things personally. Proving her strength to spite those that wronged her. That’s what moves her.
But guess what? That type of motivation as makes her a terrible ruler. What happens when there is no more to conquer? She is motivated essentially to prove people wrong. She is motivated to show the world it was wrong to make her feel small and weak. She’s there to fight “bad guys”. That’s the easy part. What happens when there are no more obvious “bad guys”? It’s why she can identify with a slave that wishes to break free from their master. But it’s also why she CAN’T identify with a former slave that still wants to work for their former master. Or why she CAN’T identify with a person who doesn’t take joy in killing...because everyone she kills, she views as an easy necessary decision against a “bad guy”.
That isn’t her experience so how can it be anyone else’s?
She is completely internally focused on her quest to be extraordinary.
So Jon knows what “moves” Daenerys. He’s already started to alter how he chooses his words. He still screws up though.
Tumblr media
He smirks when she uses ‘beautiful’ to describe her dragons. He accidentally lets Real!Jon appear for a bit but very quickly tries to correct himself.
Tumblr media
Then, Poor Jon makes it even worse. Calls the dragons beasts. You know how Daenerys views her dragons as her children? How they’re the only thing that make her special?
But this is how Jon really feels about the dragons. They’re dangerous beasts to him. He already told her using the dragons made her like everyone else. HER STRENGTH DOES NOT MAKE HER SPECIAL TO HIM.
So Jon still doesn’t really have a great example of how to interact with Daenerys. I think it was very purposefully done that in the very scene that shows how incompatible Jon and Daenerys are, Jon gets to observe someone who HAS shown he knows how to “get through” to Daenerys:
Jorah Mormont
Tumblr media
Jon is initially confused when he hears Jorah’s name.
“That’s the guy who sold people into slavery, isn’t it? Now he’s with the ‘Breaker of Chains’, huh? The one that confiscated my ship and is holding me prisoner? Neat.”
-Jon, internally, probably
Tumblr media
But then Jon starts watching how they interact. He sees how Jorah is 1000000% subservient to Daenerys. How he always addresses her formally and with admiration. Jorah and Missandei put Daenerys on a pedestal more than any other characters - and she treats them better than she treats any other characters.
Some people theorized Jon was jealous of Jorah here. No, he was observing.
Tumblr media
If the explanation for why Jon fell for Daenerys is that he saw her courage when she saved everyone beyond the Wall, then there is not yet any jealousy on Jon’s part. If there is jealousy on Jon’s part, why did he never show it towards Jorah when they went beyond the Wall? Jorah sees Jon as an immediate romantic threat. Jorah is also wrong about Jon. Jon simply is trying to learn how to deal with Daenerys.
What’s my evidence?
Tumblr media
Jorah sees Jon approaching as they are preparing to depart from Dragonstone.
He makes a deliberate show of affection for Daenerys.
If Jon sees a romantic counterpart...surely he comes up with some grand gesture as he has the last shot at a “goodbye” before they leave.
Except...
Tumblr media
“I wish you good fortune in the wars to come. Peace.”
So Now Jon’s Learned
He’s gotten everything he needs to deal with Daenerys. He knows what motivates her. He knows what language pleases her. He knows that she enjoys assertive physical contact.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
How non-specific is his justification when she asks him why he’s now willing to bend the knee? This is so value-neutral that if he actually is not attempting to manipulate her without feeling like human garbage, I can’t believe the writers would use such couched terms. He’s telling her absolutely nothing actually positive here.
D: Why did you pick chocolate ice cream over vanilla ice cream, Jon?
J: Because chocolate ice cream certainly is ice cream, my Queen.
-Jon and Daenerys, deleted scene, Beyond the Wall
Here’s the thing: he still actually does feel like garbage about this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Ok, I’ve bent the knee. It’s starting to work now, but gahhhh I wish I didn’t have to do this. But just maybe I’ve gotten her to forget about the Throne for a bit.”
The Dragonpit or the Crescendo of Political Jon
There is where Jon realizes he MUST initiate a physical relationship.
Tumblr media
I see someone utterly unenthused about what he’s had to do so far. But in his mind, if he gains Daenerys as an ally, it’s what he must do.
Tumblr media
Here’s Daenerys lamenting the fact that the dragons were locked in the dragonpit and lose their power. She sees this as tragic. Not because she cares about the dragons. She doesn’t say “poor babies suffered” or anything like that. No, something else makes her sad thinking about chained dragons...
- Here’s why -
Tumblr media
Her greatest fear. Being ordinary. Being average. Not being special.
Sidebar time - There are two really good parallels / reveals about this little speech by Daenerys.
1.) What did Jon just get done hearing while on the way to the Dragonpit?
Tumblr media
From the mouth of Jorah Mormont. Do you think Jon thinks unchained dragons are a good idea?
Tumblr media
They are just beasts to Jon. Tools. Weapons of mass destruction.
2.) How antithetical can Jon be from Daenerys?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He needs to be told he’s a good ruler.
Tumblr media
He doesn’t care how he’s addressed.
Tumblr media
He is visibly uncomfortable with the thought of people calling him a god.
END OF SIDEBAR
So we pick back up...Daenerys just reinforced her fear of normalcy with Captain Normal whom we are supposed to believe is in love with Ms. HasToFeelSpecial.
Tumblr media
You’re so special, babe. You’re different. I’m not going to go into detail on exactly how because there’s just SO MUCH. Just understand that you’re definitely extraordinary.
- Jon Snow, deleted scene, The Dragon and the Wolf
This is not language coming from Jon. These are words spoken by other characters being plagiarized by Jon.
And STILL...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Holy shit, Dany. You are so dense. You are going to get everybody killed over a chair. You have no business calling yourself a Queen, let alone my Queen. This sucks that I have to play this stupid game with you. Do you not learn!?!? Seriously, did they replace your brain with napalm? Why are you so obsessed with dragons and your terribly uncomfortable chair?
-Jon, internally, probably
Of course Jon sleeps with Daenerys after this. Jon knows Cersei is untrustworthy. He knows he’s tried literally everything except sex with Daenerys leading up to this. And STILL, Daenerys is one betrayal (by a person who can literally not help but betray) from getting every person on Westeros killed.
HE HAS TO HAVE HER AS A RELIABLE ALLY.
The tragedy yet to come is that his own identity as someone with an extraordinary name is going to cause his entire plan to collapse.

Dragging You to the Gutter with Me
A villain turns a heroine into a brutal lonely broken thing only he can understand what it’s like to be, and still she won’t come to him. So what keeps them together is also what keeps them apart. Read more.
Example: Naraku and Kikyo; Alina and Darkling; Petyr and Catelyn; Dolores and William
In Love with the Mark
A man who works for some really big, bad guys. He may or not believe in their ideology; that is not the point. He is there for the money and he prides himself of his professionalism. For some reason, this organization working on the shadows have “business” to deal with this ordinary everyday woman. So he is hired to stalk, threaten, or even kill her. Turns out, Stalking is Love, and he develops feelings for his target. That doesn’t stop him from keeping up with the job, thought. He had to be undercover to get closer, so cases of Used to be Lovers/Friends are probably included. You will likely hear from a character In Love With the Mark the quote “It wasn’t personal.”
Example: Jack/Angela; Jackson/Lisa; Vincent/Anne; Tom/Lizzie (Jacob/Masha); Skye/Ward
The Queen and her Champion
Woman occupies traditionally feminine roles of power and the man is an example of masculinity for others. She uses clever words, social understanding and schemes. He is her sword and her armor, but nothing more. Because of their different stances, he is bound to be close to her he protects, but never with her.
Examples: Maly and Alina; Zelda and Link; Lancelot and Guinevere; Rhaenyra Targaryen and Criston Cole; Daenerys and Ser Jorah; Every Elizabeth Tudor romance, Queen Anne and Aramis; Lucrezia and Cesare; Cersei and Jaime.
Art Inspires Love
When character A realizes or falls (more) in love with character B after watching him dance, sing, or doing something artistic.
Examples: Frollo/Esmeralda, Christine/Erik, Hap/Prairie, Isaura/Leôncio, Anne/Vincent, Sandor/Sansa and Babydoll/Blue Jones.
Supernatural Connection
The characters have a psychic or physical connection. Maybe they can communicate through telepathy or can feel each other’s presence and emotions when they are nearby. There might be a spell connecting their hearts in a way one can only die when the other one does. Maybe they are twins. Whatever the reason, these characters are bonded in a way no one else could be.
Examples: Kylo x Rey, Nuada x Nuala, Darkling x Alina and Cersei x Jaime.
The Frollo Effect
A guy falls in love with a girl he is suppose to reject, repulse or dehumanize, and fights against it. By trying to suppress it, her converts love into hatred against her and himself, and probably punishes both hoping it will make the feeling go away. It does not work and the guy starts doing things he never thought he was capable of in order to deal with this unbearable need. He is usually proud, rational and very in control of himself until she comes along. Her initial dismissal as a suitor commonly starts out as social expectation - in which the characters are from divergent social segments and ideologically separated -, but it’s always a expectation the guy has over himself, regardless if anyone else imposes this on him.
Examples: Esmeralda x Frollo (Gypsy and priest), Amon x Helen (Jew and nazi), Isaura x Leôncio (Slave and master), Daisy x Ram (Sister and brother), William x Dolores (Host and guest) and Hap x Prairie (Subject and scientist)
Bonding undercover
When the bad guy pretends to be a normal person long enough to befriend the good girl and make her fall in love with him. This is usually how tragically two-sided vxh happens, because she gets to know his other side before the bad one gets in the way, but they can still have a happy ending because it also establishes they could have the base for a healthy relationship if only he could abandon his malicious quest. This only happens when the girl develops deeply romantic feelings for him; if it's only a crush or devilish attraction (Red Eye, The OA and Agents of SHIELD) than it doesn't count. She must be sobbing on the floor when this is done. May also involve an amnesia period in which the antagonist approaches the hero as an old friend or a lover.
Examples: Steerpike and Fuchsia, Christine and Erik, Kiara and Kovu, Elizabeth and Tom, Dracula and Vanessa
Generation Parallel
A love story doesn’t end up well. Years later another generation repeats the first one in a slightly different manner. Most of the time, the parallel between the two affairs means the characters from the first one have the chance to develop as we wished they would, and that their love might have grown roots under a different field. Sometimes it just means shit happens no matter the circumstances, and that people will make the same mistakes of their elderlies despite that they should have known better by now. If we are talking about the first generation’s offspring (Incest not necessarily included), it might mean their love is on their DNA and they would fall over and over again under different names and places. In any case, this trope is the romantic side of History Repeats Itself.
Very common theme in incest, because their birth requires a previous affair between their parents, but it only counts if it is a story on its own, full of ups and downs, and people talk about it. If it’s not mentioned or important to the plot, there is no point in calling it Generation Parallel.
Examples: Jaime and Cersei (Joana and Tywin), Arya and Gendry/Jon (Lyanna and Robert/Rhaegar), Catherine and Hareton (Cathy and Heathcliff), Abby and Henry (Wakefield and Sarah), Rey and Kylo (Padme and Anakin), Isaura and Leôncio (Almeida and Juliana), Leonardo e Marina (Pilar e Murilo).
Roaring Rampage of Romance
Love that starts a war and the main plot. Characters that destroy cities and galaxies because Love Made Them Evil, because they are trying to be with whom they love or to secure their safety and happiness. It might be on purpose, in which they have foreseen the consequences but choose to take them anyway as a means to an end, or it was accidental. There may be decades of conflict and the count of a hundred corpses, or maybe a famous massacre with a handful dead extras. Maybe a murderer is hunting down everyone on an Island so that he can be alone with his beloved. Anyway, innocent people that had nothing to do with them nor interfered with the couple’s happiness will suffer the collateral damage.
Common trope among royalty, since marrying or bearing the children of someone you were not supposed to could have disastrous consequences to the State, still people would do it for love.
If the character is causing the rampage in search for something else, like power, and to secure his beloved is an incidental bonus, it isn’t considered Roaring Rampage of Romance, unless he is doing it because Love Has Made Him Evil. Alina/Darkling and Nuada/Nuala, for instance, don’t fit this category.
Examples: Penny Dreadful, Inuyasha, ASoIaF (Rhaegar x Lyanna, Jaime x Cersei, Petyr x Catelyn), Harper’s Island, Westworld, Notre Dame de Paris, Wuthering Heights, The Phantom of the Opera, Bram Stroker’s Dracula, Apollo and Cassandra, Star Wars (Anakin and Padmé)
Taboo Tropes
Incest
Self-explanatory. Cousins will not be considered incest in here. I’m brazilian.
Subtrope: Decadent Aristocrats
Ho Yay
Homosexual couples
Age gap
Ships with age gap between then, 10 years at least. Supernatural/immortal beings won’t be taken into account unless the other part is a child or coming of age.
Wife Husbandry
A man adopts or temporarily takes care of a little girl. She may or not develop a precocious crush on him. Little girl grows up into a extraordinary and desirable woman. She had him on a pedestal all these years and has been saving herself for him. Man is distressed bc he can’t reconcile the image of the child he cherished as a father and the provoking woman she turned out to be. He mostly resists her advances, but they work that out by the end.
Example: Older!Mathilda/Leon AU, Nancy/Hartigan (Sin City), Veronica/William (Final Girl)
Development Tropes
End game ship
Is not everyday an OTP becomes end game
AU ship
A.k.a. “Canon? Who needs canon?” ships. OTPs that had a lot of potential but were ruined by canon. So either I ignore the end they were given, either some parts in the middle. Unlike Not Canon ships, these were meant to be romantically involved, but the way it was executed ruined it.
Secondary Interest ship
That One Scene ships are the ones with nothing shippable except for one or two scenes. Sometimes is not even canon and are more anti-recs than anything, but it’s still about villain x heroine, so it’s relevant to this blog.
Not canon
Word of God stayed silent and, according to my best judgment, the subtext was not enough. If something sexual or romantic happens between the characters but isn’t based on desire, such as the villain seducing the heroine for his advantage, it’s not canon.
Example: Scream (Billy/Sidney), Kim Possible (Kim/Shego), Mulan (Mulan x Shan Yu), World Without End (Carys x Edward), Sky High (Layla x Warren), Star Wars (Obi-Wan x Padmé), Richard III (Anne x Richard), Tesis (Angela x Bosco)

The Opus Dei sect is the most mysterious and controversial force within the Catholic church. Those who read Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code book will remember Opus Dei as a religious institutionalization that stands out with the radical attitudes of his disciple. In the book, Opus Dei was also given as a force that determined the right wing political agenda, which was enough to disturb many people in their seats.
One of the Most Dangerous Sects of the World
Opus Dei is talked about a lot, but the least known among religious communities today is the organization. As a matter of fact, he made Vatican analyzes for CNN television, prepared an Opus Dei documentary for the BBC and with a researcher identity.
Tumblr media
Throughout the article, we will have the opportunity to question how sects and the reality of religion that is happening today are faced in social life, and we will examine together, before we know it, how this reality has led society to chaos. At this point, I think Opus Dei will be a correct example that we can discuss with its structure and proven realities and numerical data. Now let's get to know Opus Dei together: Opus Dei was founded on October 2, 1928 in Madrid by Jose Maria Escriva de Balaguery Albas, an ordinary pastor. Although the organization was originally said to have been founded with idealistic ideas, the picture was somewhat complicated when it came to bringing the ideology to life. The basic idea of Opus Dei, created by Escriva, is the holiness of an ordinary business. Opus Dei means "the work of God" as a Latin word. According to the belief, one does not necessarily have to be a priest in order to be close to God. A person can reach God while dealing with law engineering or medicine, or if he brings the Christian spirit to his work, he can reach God while collecting garbage or delivering the mail. Sharing these views and the way of God's call to duty, being part of the same body, was far more innovative than the religious structure of the 1940s. Let Opus Dei leave Catholic was the first to get permission from the Catholic Church in 1950 to accept non-Christian partners, so Escriva was accused of heresy by the religious authorities of the time. After Escriva, the institution does not seem to be able to resist the influence of the church very much, because the institution today displays parallel views to the Catholic church, which could not be considered otherwise for the Church, which has managed to keep religion and politics in the palm of its hands in ages.
Tumblr media
Secret Sect Hidden in Secrets
From the outside, the organization appears to be a community where religious ideologies are brought to life in solidarity. In the secular world, it is said that Opus Dei resembles an elite and secret community like Skull and Bones or Masons. Image There are no major issues on the agenda of the institution, such as tax, anti-terrorism or how healthcare needs to be improved, in general it deals with issues such as homosexuality and prohibition of abortion. As it can be clearly understood from here, the institution has the ability to think and set the agenda together with the Vatican, which is already Pope II. Escriva fans, including Jean Paul, said that "being a saint" is the fate of every Christian and one day II. They believe that the "universal call to holiness" to be announced by the Vatican council will come true, in other words, they believe that one day the whole world will become Christian.
Tumblr media
In addition to the rules that the members of the Opus Dei cult are to follow, there are also prayers that must be done every day. These include an application that involves fastening a studded chain called "cilice" to the hips for two hours a day. They state that they did this to understand the suffering of Jesus. The ordeal is part of the daily spiritual programs of all Opus Dei members. The members, who make 30% of the Opus Dei, make the contract to marry, and have to do their duty to whip themselves daily with prayers. But there are different simple everyday ordeals for married female members. Women are only responsible for service duties such as satisfying men and caring for children, while married men are responsible for the livelihood and repair work of the house. They have a socially extremely conservative structure. In the light of all this information, it is appropriate to say that Opus Dei is a fundamentalist factory, as John Allen pointed out. Besides all this visible face, the opinions of the members who left Opus Dei reveal a very different picture from the image presented by Opus Dei. John Allen has reached very different realities than those reflected as a result of talks with the leaving members. First of all, the members stated that their relations with the outside world were completely reduced and that they were forced to submit an absolute bow to Opus Dei and other authorities. Most of those who leave criticize Opus Dei for “abuse of religion” and for violating human rights in many areas. While tens of thousands of happy Opus Dei members are trying to refute these claims, another group of people describes it as a human invention that retains control and power.
USA Base Area of These Sects
Research shows that they are not very unfair. The cult envelops world politics just like an octopus. British Minister of National Education, 3 ministers serving in the Polish government, 2 Peruvian ministers, 2 judges of the US Constitutional Court, dozens of members of the American Congress, former FBI President Louis Freeh and commenter of Fox television Robert Novak; Opus Dei does not hide his disciple. It is emphasized that Opus Dei lies behind the management's conservative attitude towards abortion, gay marriages and stem cell studies in the USA. Many of the world's most respected professions seem to be members of this cult, businessmen, doctors, journalists, writers, lawyers, architects, etc. According to Opus Dei members, the Pope's identity is above the Church and the Papal Authority. The Pope is the holy leader of the God-Kingdom. The person who can reach such a high level is, of course, an Extraordinary person. For this reason, Opus Dei glorifies the Vatican State, represented by such an extraordinary person, and sees the Church in the foreground. To put footnotes, the current Pope last year, Pope II. Pope XVI, who officially took over the Catholic Church at a ceremony in San Pietro Square after the death of Jean Paul. Is Benediktus'. Considering the Pope's identity is so important to the Opus Dei sect, “Pope XVI. It is useful to know about Benediktus closely.
Tumblr media
ImagePapa XVI. Benediktus, the German name, Joseph Alois Ratzinger, was one of the famous names of the Vatican with 20 years of consultancy for Pope II Jean Paul, with a violent reaction to women's rights, abortion, homosexuality, other religions, and even to the Turks in the enlargement of the European Union. Many Catholics, including the Germans, make it clear that Ratzinger cannot make a choice when there are savvy Pope candidates with more universal values. Ratzinger, aka Pope XVI. Benediktus was also a puffy name with his anti-Islamic views and indulgence statements before the election of the Pope, so he was occasionally targeted by the harsh criticism of many clergymen, including Jews. Although he stated that he served as a compulsion of the external factors of that time, Ratzinger could not escape being recognized as a fascist and gathering reactions even in his own country, Germany. In the light of all these facts, he still came to the Catholic church for unknown reasons and Pope XVI. It could have been Benediktus. In my opinion, this election is an indicator that clearly reveals the Vatican identity, and clearly indicates its position, position and purpose in world politics. Read the full article

In the event that it supplements you, will undoubtedly get huge amounts of grateful remarks on your dressing style and also the dress.
Tips to look stylish in Salwar Suit
Research the most recent styles in salwar suit
You're practically doing that correct now, yet you have to search for most recent salwar suits slants precisely. This is on account of things continue changing in the mold business. Things go all through design constantly. For instance, several years back, long salwar suits were in design, however now, nobody likes to wear suits that go underneath your knees. Long kameez with salwars just left form. What's more, you wouldn't comprehend what's out of form now unless you scan for it.
Tumblr media
Another illustration is wide sleeves. They used to be so mainstream and even now on the off chance that I take a gander at my mother's old closet, it's loaded with salwars with wide sleeves. Be that as it may, in the event that you take a gander at her closet now, those expansive sleeves are mysteriously gone. This is on account of my form clever mother likes to monitor most recent salwar suits inclines and tail them to look stylish in salwar suit. So should you!
I am will keep taking the sleeves for instance. Presently, the pattern nowadays is tight sleeves, yet despite everything, I don't wear them. I go for sleeves that are marginally nearer than the ones that were worn around five years back, yet I don't go for the most impenetrable ones as I probably am aware they won't look great on me. I am plump, and I have a major butt. Wearing tight sleeves will feature the agony purposes of my body or in basic words, influence me to look fat.
The key to looking stylish in salwar suit or any clothing, truly, is to wear what might suit you. You clearly will take after patterns yet transform them as indicated by your appearance.
Another illustration is the pattern of the net or straightforward sleeves. They look incredible and are impeccable, however for a lady who has to a great degree cumbersome arms, they're a bad dream. They will influence your arms to look so enormous that you just wouldn't have any desire to see yourself in the mirror.
Consider the pattern of high-neck dresses. They're additionally extremely prevalent, yet for somebody who has loads of fat around her neck, it's a major no-no. The neck will look thick and terrible. You just shouldn't attempt it on the off chance that you have heaps of fat around your neck.
Tips To Choose Salwar Kameez for Tall Women
Another such pattern is the round neck design. It's a design that will influence your neck to look longer and breathtaking yet at that point in the event that you have a major bust, it will influence you to look unusual and unappealing. For you, a slipover design will be better notwithstanding when the round neck is in the pattern. Did you get my point?
You have to dress as indicated by your body sort and additionally what part of your body looks great in what sort of dress. I have composed more on the best way to look thin in suits, and all you have to do in case you're thin is to do the inverse. Along these lines, the post helps each sort of lady who needs to look stylish in salwar suit.
Have a blend of traditional and present-day design
Regardless of the amount you attempt to combine salwar suit with foot sole areas or pumps, you will look best in Punjabi juttis. It's not something I am stating simply all of a sudden. It's something I can claim, and I move you to attempt it at the present time. See yourself in the mirror with a salwar suit on alongside foot rear areas and afterward with Punjabi juttis. Think about, and you will know. The traditional footwear looks best with salwar suit.
Tumblr media
In any case, on the other hand, it won't be valid for different accessories. For instance, in case you're wearing an advanced salwar suit to your office, you wouldn't have any desire to wear something like saggi pool (a sort of headband) or a brand (a sort of Punjabi pin) alongside it. You will get a kick out of the chance to keep it basic and tie your hair in a straightforward bun or let them be free without any accessories.
You have to accomplish an adjust by the event and in addition slant. Traditional is incredible, however, it may not generally be as indicated by the event. Along these lines, dependably consider that before you coordinate accessories with salwar suits.
Wear quality fabric
Many individuals remark on the fixation of Punjabi individuals with brands. They say Punjabis are pointlessly marked cognizant. They're definitely not! They simply comprehend that great consequently influence you to look stylish. That is the reason they pick great brands to wear. Along these lines, when you think Punjabis are naturally stylish, it's simply their deliberately settled on decisions that are doing the enchantment. Great quality fabric with great quality work will influence you to look stylish in salwar suit.
Tumblr media
