I understand why some people don't like it because of the price, but to me, as long as it's not a ludicrous amount, that doesn't matter. That's like saying Disney World isn't a good theme park just because of the price of tickets. Yes they're expensive, but Disney World is still a fun, magical place. I've been to the parks with much higher admission prices that aren't as nice. To me, the joy I get in the moment is worth the price, and with a video game, i can go back and relive it.🐢🐢🐢

I see your point and it’s all gucci, don’t worry about rambling, i still like hearing everyone’s opinions and discussing stuff together !

my issue isn’t only the price, it’s the fact that DLCs are increasingly becoming more and more lazy, instead of actually adding EXTRA content worth 30 bucks. take for example Hollow Knight, every single DLC is free and each and every one of them is a new experience with new lore and depths to the main base story. those are 4 extra and FREE dlcs and this is coming from a very small company, compared to SQUARE ENIX and DISNEY themselves

taking your example, picture this. yes, disneyland IS a very magical place, disney HAS been on pretty much all of our childhoods and every character is loved by thousands of people. disneyland, although expensive, DOES live up to their standards. and yet, everyone is aware of the shady deals, of the monopoly they run in the world of animation and the treatment some workers have to endure for this magic to happen

like i teared up too during the new scenes, I enjoyed seeing characters interact with each other and seeing the shit we missed in the base game, but ultimately? we just paid for the picture maker thingy and the extra boss fights, because said extra scenes AND playable scala ad caelum COULDVE easily been added as a free patch - not sold as such a big DLC meant to give closure when the thing it did was finally give the spotlight to characters that have just been existing without even glancing at each other. to me, these new scenes could’ve been originally from the base game if they delayed the game to properly polish it.

but why polish it so much, you might ask ? because this is a game they’ve been announcing for y e a r s, this is the BIG THREE, the franchise that has given them so much money along with FF

like, I also understand the issues and complications of making a game, shit is HARD. but once more, we’re talking about companies who can easily afford to lose a couple million because. companies so popular that should be held to a HIGHER standard. not even higher, just like, the level they’re playing on with the resources they have. cause we as their public deserve better content

SO LONG STORY SHORT : i hate capitalism and big companies taking over media with half assed or rushed content, instead of the good shit we deserve and im also very passionate about games in general

So with my understanding about the spiderman sony/marvel fiasco is that sony had lended spiderman to marvel movies. the deal allowed marvel(disney) to use spiderman for 5 movies but sony had paid for it. when the deal is up, sony wanted spiderman back but marvel wanted to not only keep the character but also increase their profit deal even though most of the cost is paid by sony. if sony doesn't accept the increase, marvel claimed they would not make spiderman movies anymore.

Anon, is there a reason you have decided to tell me this? Are you clarifying the situation to yourself? (that’s totally fine if you are, I’m just confused.)

I do however want to make this clear since my last fic (which dared to take a stance on the Sony/Marvel issue) seems to have brought out a whole lot of anxiety in some of my readers:

I do not care about this conflict in any capacity beyond it being a moment in which Sony has rebuked Disney’s attempt to create a monopoly.

I never thought that I would have to like, say this in a public forum, but I do not work for either of these fucking companies. So I’m free to do whatever I like with whatever characters I want.

So if people think that the sony/disney shit in any way impacts my creative choices in who I will include and exclude in my work in the future, I’m sorry but that is not how I work. At all. Period.

My gripes with MCU Spidey (and MCU pretty much everyone, actually) are mainly that he’s poorly and inconsistently characterized and his story has been too closely tied to Ironman’s.

That’s it friends. I just don’t think he’s as interesting as he could be. And I think he’s that way for a number of creative choices which are problematic and political in a bevy of ways that I’m not going to get into here because I’m not interested in fighting with people over fictional characters online.

So like?

Y’all. Take a step back and breathe.

Just because MCU Spidey might not appear in other MCU films (which I doubt. Sony and Marvel will most likely work something out which violates all kinds of dignity and human decency in the name of continued profit) does not mean that you can’t carry on imagining him alongside all your favorite characters, in all your fave situations, whatever.

Sony/Disney don’t own your brains, friends. And the way that people are interpreting a lot of these conflicts and cancellations as ‘Oh, well X has been cancelled, so we will never have a X and Y team up or we’ll never see X And Y in the same space again’ is super concerning to me.

Y’all, these companies are never going to give you exactly what you want A) because your interests are not part of their production processes and B) because if they did, you would be satisfied and if you’re satisfied, then you are less likely to spend money in the pursuit of becoming satisfied.

ALSO. While I’m on this fucking soapbox, I might as well say that while I get that movies are largely the most accessible form of superhero content, there is in fact a huge variety of other types of media which you can consume to satisfy your burning need for more content. So if you’re mad about the Netflix Daredevil’s cancellation–great. Go read some comics. If you want more Spidey go look at the veritable shedload of material that exists on him and bend your headcanons around that.

I suppose that the main thing I’m trying to say here is that some of y’all are letting companies which don’t care about you as an individual have control over your creative interests and outlets.

And that’s fucking gross.

So don’t let them. But respect the fan content creators who are carrying on producing material. Don’t go around leaving them passive aggressive notes just because they aren’t catering to your specific needs.

I.e. get out of my face. I’ve made more than enough material for you without being paid to do it. I’ve provided you with hours upon hours of additional content with skills that I have honed for my own professional pursuits, not for your enjoyment. I choose to use them to make you happy because I genuinely care about making people happy. And I will only continue to do so long if I don’t feel like I’m pressured in one way or another around it.
