O'Brien's and Cora's relationship on season 2 is that of a house cat and her owner. O'Brien thinks Cora is a poor starving kitten so she will bring Cora so many mouse corpses. "I found out your daughter wants to be a nurse, you should know." "They are taking food from your kitchen, that won't do, I will show you." "Here, my lady, I brought you a Thomas, now you can push Isobel out of this house." And Cora isn't that impressed, but she absent-mindedly scratches her behind the ear like that's so nice, O'Brien, thank you.
um. I'm on 402 and Violet asking Tom to be Mary's "instructor" about the estate could have been excellent grounds for widows to fall in love and then I wouldn't have to deal with G*llingham? AM I BECOMING A LATE SEASONS BRARY SHIPPER ON MY 17TH VIEWING OF THIS PROGRAM?? stay tuned 🙃
Ok listen, I saw the new downton abbey movie and realized I haven't seen every episode of the series, so I'm rewatching from the beginning and the second episode Matthew is all like "ugh, they're gonna push one of their daughters on me to marry" and then Mary walks in and says "hi" and I can see behind Matthew's eyes he's like "oh no she's beautiful oh fuck idk how to talk to her oh God"
I just think it's neat how the Downton franchise starts and ends with my boy Thomas getting the guy all the women have been mooning over as is his right
Edna: 'Do you ever wonder why people dislike you so much?'
Thomas: 'Mhh, good question, where do I start?? My handsome face, my glorious personality, my raging temper, my insecurities, my fears, my trauma from the past?'
Edna: 'I..'
Thomas: 'If you want to insult someone don’t try it with the person who already hates themselves.'
“Remember when Carson was like we need to fire Thomas cause he’s gay-” Carson knew he was gay the entire time. they fired him because he broke the rules just like Ethel and Edna but no one gives a flying fuck about them because they’re not attractive white gay men. Also neither of their being fired had been due to them sexually assaulting and being reported by another member of staff but it’s okay he’s sad sometimes so he’s really not a bad person he’s just so misunderstood 🥺
I finished my god knows what number rewatch of downton like a month ago, and I wanna start it again but the little goblin in my head is telling me to start in on season 3 when Jimmy appears
What went wrong with Belgravia? I'm watching it and there's like no real suspense, I don't like anyone at all, the music must be all the leftover bits from Downton Abbey and somehow I feel like all the clothes are kind of ugly. There's no sparkle and there are no plucky/sweet/funny characters-- no early season Annas or Sybils, no Matthew, no Violet (sorry, Harriet Walters!)
I'm watching it because it's a period drama but I feel like this is what period drama-haters think all period drama is.
I’m not sure anything in the series (a n y t h i n g) is as funny as Robert standing with his tits practically out with no shirts asking “Are you not popular downstairs Thomas?”
