More of my Fantasy au for Sunlight and Ashes. I wasn’t sure what to do with Anna and Arin for a very long time, but finally decided on doing sort of nymphs/forest peoples.

(I also tried some new art stylistic choices with more curly and somewhat incomplete line art and coloring in and outside it. For all the pieces here)

But because I finally decided on a thing for them, I needed to design Andi, because. Y’a know. Half siblings.

Then finally some important alternative forms for some characters

And uh. That’s it. Let me know if y’all can’t read anything and I’ll translate my messy notes

(I am so obsessed with this AU. Someone help)

Also I feel the need to clarify those things growing out of them? They’re branches not antlers lol.

That’s What Big Brothers Are For

"What do you mean you're still with Emily!?!" Chris heard from his step-sister Jessica's room. The two shared walls and it was inconvenient anytime they wanted to do anything because the other could always hear the whole thing. Chris has never heard anything like this from her before though. Next, he hears a broken loud sob, obviously from a distraught Jess. Chris gets up from his bed and goes over to knock on the door.  

"Hey... Jess?" No response.

"Are you okay?"

A groan and a sniffle could be heard before she finally opens the door. Chris doesn’t usually see her like this. No makeup, a white tank top, and fuzzy pink pajama pants. Her hair tied up into a neat bun. Whenever he sees her, she's always made up...or she has her "face beat to the gods", as she would say. Jess is vulnerable, unlike her usual self. She tends to put up a tough front but Chris knows she's soft on the inside.

When their parents got married when they were preteens, Jess didn't like him very much. She thought he was annoying and a total nerd. She'd avoid him at lunch and never took the same route home as he did. However, over the years they'd gotten much closer and it was easier for them to get along. Chris was there for her just as a big brother should. It didn't matter if they weren't blood related. You could tell there was a deep love and care between the two.  

"Mike cheated on me with Emily. Again."

"There was a first time?" Jess scoffs at his comment.

"He promised he wouldn't do it again, that he was over her. That she broke up with him and they had called it quits. But clearly not." Chris pulls Jess into a tight hug.  

"Mike doesn't deserve you. He never did."

Chris releases her from the hug and wipes the tears going down her cheeks away. It hurt him to see her like this. He would do anything to make sure his little sister was okay.  

"If I had the strength, I'd beat him up. But he has waaayy more muscle than me and will probably get his sport dudes to push me down all four flights of stairs." Chris chuckles nervously, running a hand through his hair.

Jess realizes that she can take advantage of this situation, and she does. She goes to sit on her soft bed and motions Chris to come inside. He takes a seat next to her and grabs her old teddy bear.  

"No, it's okay." She smirks. "There is ONE thing you can do for me, though." Chris is a little scared to find out what she's come up with.

"Can I do your makeup? I've NEVER put makeup on a guy before.... Mike never let me."

Chris sighs in exasperation. "Fine. Just....don't take pictures or post it anywhere." Jess is shaking with excitement, and has a huge grin on her face.  

She goes into their shared bathroom and grabs her entire makeup collection. She plops the kit onto her bed. "What look are we going for today, big bro?" She asks as she rummages through product after product.

"Punk rock dude. The kind you avoid eye contact with at the mall." Chris throws up the sign of the horns and sticks his tongue out at her. "Rooock n rooollll!"  

Jessica laughs at him, and he brightens her mood just a little bit more. Chris always knows how to make her feel better in some way, and she's glad that she's able to open up to him. Jess didn't have any siblings before Chris, so she's always been pretty lonely. She loves him so much and couldn't have asked for a better brother.  

Jessica finishes the look after about 20 minutes. The eyeliner is a bit uneven and Chris' eyebrows are definitely not twins but it works for him. She adds the finishing touch with some black eyeshadow as lipstick.

"Perfect. You wanna see?" She's dying of laughter at her amazing masterpiece.

Chris is appalled at what he sees in the mirror. "What did you DO to me?" He's now dying as well while reciting lyrics of Evanescence's 'Bring Me to Life'.  

"I'm in love with it, I feel super badass. Like I drive a motorcycle in a gang or something." Chris flexes his arms as if they were big and muscle-y.  

"Super macho. More than stupid Mike."  

"Damn right. Maybe one day we'll get revenge on him." Chris lays down on her bed.

"Nah, he's eventually going to realize how much he's missing." Jess cleans up her makeup and puts it back in her bathroom.

"You might want to take that off now if you're going to fall asleep in here. Conjunctivitis is disgusting, you know." She tosses makeup wipes at him and quickly goes to grab his bedding and puts it onto her floor. "Sleepover!!"  

He spent the night in her room and they stayed up talking for hours. Chris spilled about his crush on Ashley and Jess is going to set them up on a cute little date.

My Until Dawn Secret Santa gift for @transchrishartley !!!!!!!!! I’m absolutely in love with your step-siblings AU so I just had to write it! You had it as your second choice for the gift and I really wanted to write something for it ^.^
