overall im fine w vegans bc while I don't personally want to be vegan or vegetarian for a variety of reasons, I do understand where the idea comes from and relate to a lot of it
but also I'm absolutely not shocked that a philosophy that is more about wanting to feel better about your place in this system and placing morality upon nature draws in a large amount of self righteous assholes

I think USAmericans need to realize that stuff like their recent brush with bird flu is not a sign of the end times but a sign they need to start beating their goverment with axes and hammers.

sorry but that post you reblogged about "anti egg vegans" being stupid because chickens don't care i feel like is missing the point of most people being vegan due to animal explotation within mass factory farming and not like having some chickens in the backyard or a small farm. the critique is the comodification of animal products to the point of animals not being treated like living beings but as products and so often being put in terrible living conditions because of that. i think whether most vegans see it as capitalism being the real probelm or not the critique should be aimed toward capitalism as a whole, rather than individual people participating in it.
I absolutely agree with critiques of industrial farming, and I believe a lot of folks do feel that way! And I think it's just as silly to pretend that everybody understands the nuance there. I'd say most of the vegans I have encountered are not specifically against industrial agriculture, and are just as vegan when encountering animal products that have been sustainably produced/harvested/whatever as they are with every other animal product. I have had conversations with people who are against honey because it Exploits The Bees, but are perfectly happy to use agave syrup as a replacement regardless of the abundant human rights issues that impact immigrants and people of color in other parts of the world in particular.
I think there are perfectly respectable reasons and ways to be vegan, and it's shitty to assume that any individual person has the Wrong Reasons or a shitty way of going about it based entirely on the fact that they are vegan. I also think it's just as ignorant to pretend that the people who are in it for entirely the wrong reasons don't exist, or even that they aren't, like, fairly common.
I live in an area where it's the norm to ensure all food provided is vegan-friendly unless you know for a fact that it doesn't need to be. I promise you there is absolutely a culture of veganism because it looks or feels good, particularly among white people, and the reason I am frustrated about things like ignorance of the impact of industrial agriculture on human people, and the obsession with "vegan leather" without any mind paid to the environmental impact it has, and the ignorance of our profit history toward indigenous relationships with animal products, is because I constantly meet people who believe those things & it is, y'know. frustrating.

I’m partly vegan because I believe bigotry is wrong. Prejudice or treating others differently because of the group they’re in, is wrong.
I don’t think it’s right to kill, abuse or exploit other animals just because of their species.
If it’s wrong to kill a dog then it’s wrong to kill a cow.
If it’s wrong to fund a puppy mill then it’s wrong to fund a factory farm, as 90% of farmed animals live on factory farms.
If fur is wrong then leather is wrong.
And if as a human, I wouldn’t want to be treated like an object then I have no right to treat another animal like a product.
Speciesism is a kind of prejudice and it’s wrong.

Listing a few funny things that happened when Angel had to deal with the media, post rescuing everyone from Playtime Co:
Angel, still shaking from spending one week inside the factory and with dried blood still glued to their hair, smelling like hell, politely answering some questions while in the hospital while waiting for Dogday's emergency surgery to finish.
The media being obsessed with calling Angel, whose actual name is Raphael Taylor de Oliveira, "Angel" the moment they hear one of the toys referring to them as that.
Combine the religious imagery with Angel's poor little meow meow wet kitten born in a cardboard box with every disease face and we have a very, very easy way for making the narrative out to be "a kind ex-worker at Playtime Co. discovers that children were used as experiments inside the factory and risks their own life in order to save them".
Angel is instant-loved by Brazil the moment the first news start to arrive, which is something they're very proud of.
Angel having to hold Catnap and Mommy Long Legs by their hands while giving out an interview in their home, so neither one of them would be too mean to the poor reporters. Angel still has to tell them to be nicer though.
The cops and investigators having to explain why they didn't figure out there was something wrong with the factory when all Angel had to do was walk inside and say hello to the Huggy Wuggy statue.
A reporter explaining the horrific events while in the background Huggy stares at her like "smoll person :0}" and boops her. Cue to Angel saying sorry and anxiously guiding him away.
"What did you have to eat while trapped down there?", someone asks, and the toys all go "oh hahahaha. uhm. rats. and the bodies of our friends WHEN THEY INEVITABLY DIED FROM A DISEASE. we didnt hunt each other dw dw hahahahahaha".
Angel a few months later, after buying the farm, giving a "house tour" so people will know the kids are doing okay and stop pestering them about house-related questions. Angel is very excitedly telling the reporter about how much more space they have now while Catnap is eyeing a bird in the background. "Theo don't you think about that, you have food right there".
One of the mini critters listing all the toys that were gifted for them and saying "it's very nice, very chewable", I like how it tastes" and Angel looks at them like "so it's YOU who has been chewing the toys??????", with the reply being "and the doors as well!"
Catnap going from referring to Angel as "our savior" to simply "our mother" during any interviews or news reports where he somehow talks.
Everyone wanting to interview Dogday because he does, indeed, have a radiant and happy energy and audiences love him.
Angel saying "and the hut is the house of 1006, the first one to ever happen, but he would prefer if we just left him alone".
Poppy being someone who's always SUPER pleasant to work with, and excitedly telling the reporters everything they have been doing around the farm.
Angel sighing after finding out Prototype is Elliot Ludwig, KNOWING they'll have to tell the authorities so they can have license money and control over the Playtime Co. brand.
Angel turning to the family's lawyer like "you won't believe what I just found out", the lawyer saying "oh, this won't be the most absurd thing you told me yet", then after hearing Angel tell her about it going "oh, you are always full of surprises, uh. Uhm. Now that makes things complicated", and Angel laughing to the point of tears after that.
ALL the news reports during the trial against Playtime Co.'s higher ups and the negligent authorities. Kickin keeps a collection of the "best moments", which include Angel beating the ever living shit out of a higher up after he refers to the toys as "things" and "collateral damage" instead of "victims of human experimentation".
The news about the fact that apparently Elliot Ludwig became the first PlayCo. experiment ever, and Angel + Poppy having to deal with THAT.
Prototype's single public apparition, around 4/5 years post-rescue, because he had to go to court as well so Angel would have a chance of getting the rights to PlayCo. and all of its properties back to them.
The news when Dogday and Catnap get married, a whole decade post-rescue.
Angel just dropping the most cryptid information ever in social media or during one of the rare interviews they're willing to give after the initial years post-rescue. They tweet things like "I saw some people asking if any of the toys ever attacked me during the week I stayed at PlayCo, and I want everyone to know that all of them at some point did. But don't worry, I bit them back, we're all good now" and one time say "my husband and I like to grow tomatoes like this, but one of our daughters has been trying another way" and that's how everyone finds out Angel and Prototype are a Thing.
Craftycorn happily blogging her life as an artist and featuring all of the other toys during her videos, while Poppy does makeup and sewing tutorials, and the two of them doing collabs and livestreams often. During one of the streams Angel screams "THEODORE GRAMBELL LUDWIG OLIVEIRA DID YOU JUST HUNT A COYOTE AGAIN", and that's how Crafty and Poppy's fans discover everyone decided to add Ludwig Oliveira to their names.
I would say more but honestly this post has been getting pretty long so rip

Thoughts on veganism?
So I’m going to separate this into two groups, militant vegans and normal vegans.
Militant vegans are assholes who probably don’t even actually give that much of a shit about animals or the planet, they just want an excuse to be horrible to other people and this is the one they picked.
Veganism as practiced by people who aren’t Like That: well-intentioned but misguided and misinformed, and often extremely Euroamericancentric. These are people who genuinely want to make things better, but have forgotten that humans are animals and part of an ecosystem. They’re extremely out of touch with the food web, to the point this is an actual conversation I had with a “vegan” once:
“The chipotle sauce is egg-based, would you like me to remove it?”
“Oh no, that’s fine.”
“…okay. And the caramel in your drink?”
“Oh, you can leave that. I just don’t eat animal products.”
CARAMEL IS MADE WITH MILK.
I can’t help comparing this to my own dietary restrictions due to religious law. I’m constantly checking packaging, learning how food is made, where ingredients are sourced from, asking questions about menus, to be sure I don’t consume pork. It’s something I take very seriously. And yet the number of stories I’ve heard about vegans gaily insisting that salami isn’t meat, that honey isn’t vegan but buttermilk is, and even—this one blows my mind—that cow milk is actually pus, tells me not a lot of commitment is being put in.
Certainly factory farming, and the shift in America and Europe toward meat being a main course rather than a side dish, are massive problems both environmentally and ethically. ZERO argument there. But creating strain on the global supply chain and insisting that everything you own be made of plastic because “leather is cruel” is a complete misunderstanding of both the problem and the solution, and an insult to human biology. Eating cooked meat is literally what made us human, from a biological standpoint. I think most vegans mean well. I also think they’re approaching the problem from entirely the wrong angle.

AITA for making some cookies? (and maybe bringing the apocalypse upon earth but that's not that important i think)
so one day i felt like making cookies. and i did. my first batch sucked, but after a few tries, i think they were pretty good! it was a fun hobby, but somehow the entire town ended up loving my cookies, and it was getting hard to keep up with. i needed help.
i ended up enlisting some local grandmas to help me make the cookies, which was nice! and fun! they were only a little offputting. anyways, they weren't making that many cookies, so they were quickly overshadowed by the cookie farms and cookie mining. okay, my hobby might have escalated a bit. don't worry about it.
anyways, after a while, i had quite the cookie empire! i had cookie banks, cookie factories, cookie temples, cookie shipments coming in from outer space, cookie portals to the cookieverse to get as many cookies as possible.... i was winning at life, and profiting from everyone's love of my cookies! so what if i was exploiting as many things as possible to get cookies? everyone loved them!
now, here's where the more assholey bit comes in. you see, at some point, i got all of the grandmas from earlier to chip in a bit on some other stuff. it's not like i was getting them to do anything that bad, just transmuting them and stuff. who cares? it makes cookies!
apparently, THEY care???? like, they were getting restless and stuff. so i put some money into researching what i could do to preoccupy them and stuff. and also to get them to make more cookies. eventually, research led to a nice solution; a hivemind! they could all communicate better, and bake better!
it... did not go as expected.
okay, so the grandmas might have been transforming into weird fleshy creatures. and they might've been summoning whatever the hell a 'wrinkler' is. and old ladies might have been going missing worldwide and changing into... something freaky. it was fine, though, because we could just perform a communal brainsweep!
yeah ok you can probably guess how well that went. at some point, an elder pact became involved. entire cities were consumed by flesh and stuff. but it's okay, right? i was just making cookies. it's not MY fault the world might be ending, right??? i just bake, it's not like i got those grandmas to steal infants and start, like, congealing and stuff????? besides, it's not even THAT bad, those wrinklers do get me quite a bit more cookies, more than i would have without them, and the elderly frenzies are pretty nice too. so i basically did nothing wrong. and i basically didn't even start any of it.
....AITA for baking a few cookies?

Archie was born to be a farm hand who dies in a wolf pack incident. Betty was meant to be developing the theory of criminal profiles in the FBI to allow for wrongful arrests and abusing her authority. Veronica should have been a self made oil baroness after her father wouldn't let her take over his child labor factories. Jughead was born to tell gruesome little stories over the cogs hungry for child fingers in one of Hiram's factories before dying of tuberculosis.

A series of brief feminist and anti-porn quotes which could be turned into posters or stickers:
- Women’s bodies are not products to consume, ornaments to frame or commodities for sale.
- Every misogynist was brought into the world from the labour of a woman.
- When women scream you wonder what is wrong with them. When men scream you fear what they are going to do.
- Violence is not erotic.
- Your boundaries are completely valid.
- Consent is not the end of the conversation when it comes to sex. It is start of one. Consenting to do harmful things doesn’t make them any less harmful. What makes an act wrong is not the consent, but the negative consequences it has on the person who suffers it.
- Men who buy sex are the cause of sex trafficking, because there will never be enough voluntary sex workers to meet the demand.
- When a woman is poor and hungry, the thing to put in her mouth is food, not your cock. (Rachel Moran, sex trade survivor)
- Commercial sex destroys human dignity.
- Telling someone that criticising the porn industry makes them sex negative is like telling someone that criticising factory farming means they hate food.
- Some people say that pornography is a fantasy. What part of it is fantasy? The acts of violence depicted are real acts committed against real women and children. The fantasy is that women want to be abused. (Andrea Dworkin)
- ‘Teen’ is the most popular porn category.
- The life expectancy of a pornstar is 35.
- The mortality rate in prostitution is higher than that of any other profession, including the military and construction.
- Why do punters pay a higher price for a 14 year old prostitute than a 24 year old one? In what other industry does your value decrease with age and experience?
- If your feminism makes pimps happy, you are doing it wrong.
- Porn is the theory, rape is the practice.
- BDSM: imaginary control and uninformed consent.

The French and The election :
The frenc ccs plans about the elections for those who don't follow them :
Baghera Jones : She is presenting herself alongside BBH and Forever in order to be sure at least one of the three make it to the election day, as they don't want the power falling into the wrong hands.
Aypierre : Has been up to now unsure if he's gonna run, but has a couple ideas, and is mostly a troll, so his government would most probably be corrupt if he can do all the farms and pranks he wants. He also had the idea to ally with someone who wants to run for president to help them gain the gameplay votes (he has like a hundred factory ideas that would make them top of the leaderboards almost everywhere) in exchange for some power in the shadows.
Etoiles : Unsure, mostly want to have fun, maybe a bit of pvp. Very clearly said he is not interested in the president position, but more by the TARGET TO KILL situation that comes with it. (He added out of rp that, no, he wouldn't go on a killing spree if he wasn't sure every player would still be ok and have fun with it)
Antoine Daniel : Doesn't want to be president, and honestly doesn't really WANT a president. He has been questionning EVERYONE and pointing flaws in every candidates' ideas. He is the "Why should I vote for you ?" of this election. Another post said he was doing kind of a journalist's job, wich I agree with.

give me your most controversial chicken opinion
My most controversial chicken opinion won't be controversial at all here on Tumblr Dot Org because it's a leftist chicken opinion which is that chickens are the ideal food animal for any and all non-grazing spaces and we should Pigeon-ify them even further until they are everywhere we are (pending environmental studies of course I'm not a monster). Until everyone knows their own Chicken Guy.
Disperse the birds!!!!
When presented with the question of a highly accessible, digestible protein source, you're not going to beat a chicken for ease of cleaning, food to weight conversion, ease of keeping, etc etc you just aren't gonna, people have been trying for centuries and unless you live in a heavily wilded area with gamefowl chickens are simply, necessarily the way to go forward in democratizing food access.
In terms of an opinion that would be controversial here on tumblr dot gov dot UK: While my personal favourite breed are Brahmas, I think the "best" chicken breed is, without question or reserve, the modern sex link hybrid, the Golden Comet.
Tumblr media
Simply an unbeatable bird. Ideal for all skill levels and production scales. Friendlier than many dogs. Lays prodigiously. Honestly quite clean as long as you offer a sand bath.
You really cannot go wrong with a golden comet, despite them being basically a factory produced bird available in bulk at any farm store. There's a reason they dominate so completely. They aren't even particularly sickly, since they are all first generation hybrids.
Basically the only reason not to get a golden comet is if you are doing your own breeding, as they don't breed well and aren't broody.
Well, that or you aren't interested in raising chickens, of course.

I regularly eat meat so maybe take this with a grain of salt, but I think when people try to "own" the concept of veganism with "facts and logic" as either a diet or a moral stance, they generally misunderstand what they're trying to criticize.
Like, you can say that the "real" problem with animal agriculture is capitalism encouraging animal abuse and factory farming, but like. Vegans know that's bad. That's not the only problem they have with the industry. You've got the slew of environmental problems it causes plus the whole, y'know, killing/exploiting animals thing that they don't like.
Someone who values the life of a chicken as equal to that of a human won't give two shits if it had a good life before being slaughtered, because to them it's the moral equivalent of killing a person for food. By saying that they're simply ✨wrong✨ for seeing a problem with the killing part, you're missing the entire point. "It had a good life" hardly means anything if you don't think of human life as inherently more valuable. You can disagree with that premise all you want, but you're not gonna change their minds.
I also challenge you to actually come up with an argument for why you feel human life inherently matters more than all nonhuman life, because I've never in my life seen a cogent argument for it that includes all humans and excludes all nonhumans. It's just that evolution hardwired that value into most people (including me, I agree). I think it's fine to feel that way and live accordingly, but you should know where your values come from. Vegans act on that too - getting rid of an infestation would be the equivalent of mass murder. This isn't a dig, by the way, it'd be impossible to have a decent quality of life if you stuck to "humans = nonhuman animals" completely.
I see people tossing around eggs and dairy as morally fine because they don't require killing the animals that produce them, but everyone seems to conveniently forget what they do to nearly all the males. It's not practical for farmers to keep all the males alive for their natural lifespan because they aren't economically useful. Some very small farmers might, but it's never going to happen on any remotely large scale. Something tells me that the "killing animals is bad" club isn't gonna be happy about that.
Also, I don't know what's up with people making shit up about domestication but:
Livestock was, in fact, domesticated. Yes, this includes laying hens. We'll breed anything for efficiency.
The purpose of domesticating an animal doesn't dictate what is morally okay to do with it (ex. if you bred dogs specifically to fight, it wouldn't make dogfighting more moral).
In a similar vein, no, factory farming never reduces the need for cropland, and the animal agriculture industry as a whole doesn't either (hint: it's mostly factory farming). I don't know where people get the idea that animals somehow magic nutrients/energy into existence, but a lot of crops are grown specifically for livestock feed, which is less efficient than growing crops directly for human consumption due to trophic levels and waste production. If you insist otherwise, please take a biology class.
I do think that putting so much focus on individual action is a bit silly considering how giant animal agriculture is as an industry and how heavily subsidized it is. Put some of that energy into changing policy please. It'd probably be more useful.

Are the executives of Playtime that weren’t there at the Hour of Joy punished once the truth come out in your AU?
I imagine that besides covering up the truth from the media, they would also try to prevent anything escaping from the factory…only to realize that there’s no need. The toys have given up. They know there’s no going back to their old lives and that they’ll never be accepted in the outside world. Living in the darkness is better than living in a cage. And once they start resorting to hunting one another, it’s obvious to executives that all they have to do is wait things out before they renovate the building and the company as a whole…
A part of the AU post-rescue involves the court trial against the remains of PlayCo, and Angel trying their best to make the entire world know the awful conditions the toys had to deal with, while making sure no one finds out about the whole "actively HUNTING each other in order to eat" part, because they know PlayCo. will use that to demonize the kids.
Dont worry you guys, the executives obviously lose the court trial. Like. The best thing they can do is make it seem like they didn't have anything to do with it, which is obviously wrong. The real challenge is punishing the authorities for being negligent.
And yes, Elliot/Prototype eventually has to come out of the farm's hut in order to testify. Its very uncomfortable for him.

“TERFs think women are just farm animals for breeding and that’s why they constantly reduce womanhood to genitals! TERFs want all women barefoot and in the kitchen, somehow menstruating and pregnant at the same time, or it’s not womanly enough for them!”
do you ever feel frustrated by posts like this? how, you ask yourself, could they have gotten it so wrong?
well.. did you ever get in an argument with your mother, and gotten so mad that you said something like “FINE i guess you think (something your mother never said and does not think. in fact, something no sane person would ever think.)”
“i don’t think he is right for you.” “OH so you think i’m stupid. i’m just a dumb lil girl and i’ve led astray by the stronger and smarter man.”
“i think your current job doesn’t exercise your full potential.” “oh OK so you think i’m a lazy piece of garbage.”
come on, ladies. we know what state of mind we were in: we were secretly worried our mothers were right. we were trying to nuke all rational discussion because we couldn’t bear to look the core issue in the face. we were cowards.
and now, we have the opportunity to learn from our experience, when we see exchanges like this:
“look.. you’re not going to be able to change your sex. it’s impossible.” “ok KAREN, i FORGOT i’m just tits and a uterus and that’s it, nothing but a baby factory.”
they’re scared. they’re reading our arguments and they KNOW we are making sense. the cognitive dissonance is putting them in physical pain. when you see stupid shit like this, calmly refute it, secure in the knowledge that we’ve got them on the back foot. we’ve got them on the defensive. and it will not be long before they realize it. people are peaking every day.
