another from jack/trevor accidental marriage !!

Jack isn’t looking at him. Trevor isn’t sure why, is only sure that Jack hasn’t so much glanced his way in the last thirty minutes, even though Trevor’s absolutely destroying Cole in this beer pong tourney. Usually Jack would be all over this. Usually Cole would be hearing about this from the both of them for the next week.

But tonight, Jack is holding court on the stairs, Turcs leaned against the banister next to him. Jack is indulging him, which is never a good sign — turning his face up towards Turcs’ tipsy smile every so often like a flower towards light. Trevor blinks, but Jack still hasn’t glanced his way.

“I’m gonna beat you if you keep getting distracted,” Cole shouts over the music.

Trevor flips him off, turning away from Jack, putting him out of his mind. He’s not sure why he’s so bothered by it. Jack’s not his keeper, and he’s certainly not Jack’s. “You fuckin’ wish, dude. Hey, maybe if you had Turcs helping you out.” Never hurt to try.

Cole squints. “Yeah, I’m not sure Turcs is gonna be doing much helping tonight.”

Trevor turns. Turcs and Jack look good together, of course. Jack looks good with everyone. And Turcs has his hands on Jack’s neck, the way he likes, tilting his face up. Trevor smooths out the annoyed crease in his brow. “I look away for one second, man. One fucking second.”

Cole laughs. “You know Jack.”

“Our little manwhore,” Trevor sighs sweetly.

But Cole doesn’t laugh at that. He goes quiet, rolling the ping pong ball between his thumb and pointer finger. For a second Trevor thinks he’s watching Jack and Turcs, but Cole’s eyes are steady on Trevor’s face. “What’s it to you?” he asks, finally.

Trevor blinks. Laughs. “Nothing, dude, you know me.” He means: like I’ve got any room to talk.

“Yeah,” says Cole, almost inaudible over the pumping bass. It’s a miracle the cops haven’t shown up yet. “Yeah, I do.”

la you sent this back in august i think and i have no idea what the questions even were so i'm just going to make up questions which is probably more enjoyable* for both of us:

5. in the final days of finishing your fic, did you listen to 'horses' by maggie rogers on relentless repeat and if so why and what feelings did that spark in you?

yes and i don't even know why! maggie rogers i'm sure is fine but i can’t say i’m a particular fan. however i was at work and put on her most recent album on a whim and then that song came on and honestly (no shade maggie you’re great i’m sure) it’s kind of annoying/grating but in that moment it became the only song i could listen to for like three days as i was in the final throes and it carried me all the way through, it has a particular achiness that exactly matched what i was looking for. i was waiting to get the oil changed in my car, trying to tweak the last scenes on my phone, good ol’ maggie wishing she could be like those horses for just a minute, and i’m sure the people at the car place thought i was deranged

putting the rest under a cut because i am at all times afraid of annoying people on my own blog, which is a normal sentiment

13. did anything spooky or unlucky happen to you whilst writing your fic?

regretfully i was only haunted by my own shortcomings. maybe next time!

33. you mentioned, several times probably, how you would publish this fic and then ‘run screaming into the woods.’ did that happen?

well, no. saturday i did go running on a street surrounded by trees (pictured below) but i was still riding that joy of being done and the anxiety of having posted hadn’t quite hit yet. so it was very pleasant. i did have to listen to horses like five more times on the course of that run but i think it’s out of my system now.

I am indeed! the only fine line concert I went to was the one night only in LA back in 2019 shortly before COVID 😭😭 I was going to try to get tickets to his Austin residency before I moved but now will probably not see him this tour either. and yes that is a cursive H tattoo lol. I got matching ones with @ferryboatpeak to commemorate the most glorious summer of my life (defended my dissertation + traveled the country attending four harry concerts and four niall shows).
