He examines how the earring catches the light with an idle fascination. And when he shifts into his aether sight, it glows with the colors of their souls. Her craft was always otherworldly... but this? He can only imagine the amount of effort and thought she has put into her gift.

Love bursting inside his chest, he swears he'll never take it out until the end of his days.

And when his Hero asks about it eons later he pretends it doesn't tear his heart apart.

Pg. 21: Thandha Lapidary's Gown

Starting off strong in the Disciples of Hand & Land edition of the Hyogan Gallery is the ensemble of choice for Goldsmiths: the attire of the Thandha Lapidary. 

This entire outfit was made using archaic design ideas from Lord Fafastima himself, who wore similar garb during House Higuri’s early years of settling in Radz-at-Han in an effort to better ingratiate himself and his family into Hannish society.  Married with the wintry aesthetic of which the noble house is known, this jewelcrafter’s outfit bears a stark contrast to the warm colors and warmer clime of the Near East.

The lapidary hammer was given the name “Narahari” - a minor Thavnairian deity of the Mrga persuasion said to be a sort of guardian saint for Hannish jewelcrafters.  The tool pays testament to this through the gems inlaid within the hammer; when they glow during the goldsmith’s work, it “attunes” to the user in its own special way via the manipulation of their strikes.  Brighter glows translate to higher mitigated movements, which can be a massive help in the cutting and faceting of gems.

The grinding wheel also possesses unique properties thanks to its Himvat materials.  A special “coating” allows the user to give stones an iridescent or shimmery glow, as the miniature ice shards dancing along the wheel assist in the polishing process by “freezing” a surface when its optimum facet is reached, ensuring a greater finish and brighter shine.

This wonderfully stylish outfit is a testament to the ingenuity of House Higuri.  Even while crafting, you can still look your finest, and with the Thandha Lapidary’s attire, you can facet your own niche in the haute couture realm!

New Adventurer Portraits Let’s Goooooo!

This is my main, Satou Saothru, my first FFXIV character and the most played, with the perfect green and yellow hair that I remain obsessed with.

Adventurer plate and my warrior images were carried over so they are the same, but all of the new quick portraits are under the cut!

I tried to make dynamic portraits that captured some movement. I’m pleased with how little repetition there was in poses, even with the DoL and DoH sharing some poses with paladins. 

I had a lot of fun making these and look forward to seeing other player’s portraits!

#ffxiv #lalafell #I feel like that red mage portrait is one of the best things I've made ever #and just with a set of controlled image pieces xD #astro bard dark knight and red mage are the main classes I play so it is no wonder that I particularly like those portraits #clearly I used the battle stance and victory poses a lot #they have unique animations for disciples of war and magic so there is a lot to work with there #and lalafells have such cute cheer happy and joy animations #of course weaver has to be extra with the drama and suffering #when in general I tried to not overdo it with the backgrounds and borders because I feel like a lot of the options can pull attention away #from the warrior of light themselves #I used different portions of the Bees Knees for the weaver and fashion report sets but they look almost exactly the same >.< #Paladin and goldsmith are the same pose #as are botanist and alchemist #with the different weapons or tools making a difference in how the images look #and again the whole thing with disciples of the hand and land using paladin animations #Paladin and Reaper look similar by coincidence as I pulled the poses from animations unique to each of them #I hope that some of y'all enjoy these #and look forward to seeing other WoL's portraits #satou says
