I should do a thing with my entire writing collection of what I've shared online versus what I haven't shared

I write a huge majority just for myself because it's nice to not stress about sharing all my ideas

I've got a lot of stuff that's just dumb ideas I wanted to get out, things I started one day and will never finish, stories that are just mindless nothing, and even though I write a lot of fanfiction, some of it is so loosely related to canon that you only get vague mentions of canon characters and I'm just using the world as a setting

I first and foremost write for fun and yes I talk about the projects that I definitely will not share because I'm excited about them. Like my FNAF AU spin off or the recent stupidly long anthology - they were/are active projects that i enjoyed working on and wanted to share my progress about because it helped me kind of keep up with it in my own way, but I never had any intention of sharing either of them because they are not the kind of stuff I want to share.

My actual FNAF AU? That one is intended to be shared and as soon as I start writing it for real I will talk about it the same way I have anything else.

I have written a lot in the 14 years I've been writing, and a huge portion of it I have not shared. Especially in the past decade or so I've been more likely to not share stuff because I realized when I kept posting half finished Cars stories that I lost interest in that it was better to make sure I had a full story done so that I could make myself actually get it all out there. I hate leaving things unfinished so instead I do my best not to leave things hanging.

I would rather churn out a million stories that are mindless self indulgence and have fun with it and only have one that I end up sharing than to share everything the way I used to and that's been my strategy since I started my handwritten first copy, typed and posted second copy method. I lose interest easily and try not to post something I have no intention of completing (I even completed a completely dumb crack fic for smash brothers because me and my brother had left it unfinished for years and decided to finally end it).

I just like writing and I don't want to stress out about sharing literally everything I write because it's not good enough/it's confusing/it's out of character/it's so non canon it hurts and the millions of other reasons I keep a lot of my writing for myself. Hell some of it is just straight up stuff I would never share to begin with and it's just an idea that came to me and all I have is like a paragraph of flowery language describing a scene that popped into my head.

So yeah I've got a lot of stuff I keep to myself and I might do a comparison photo of things I've shared and things I haven't

#also i realized last night i no longer have to get my laptop out to type shit up i can just type it on my phone in google docs
