Ok ok I'll mention how similar Watership Down and Gamba no Bouken are.

-Both are semi-realistic talking animal books that were released in 1972.

-Despite being considered children's literature they contain serious elements and themes.

-They have a first animated adaptation that was well received by many and is remembered with nostalgia.

-Both are about a group of animals that embark on a journey and face danger when they reach their destination and seek to free others from it.

-At one point, the protagonists arrive at a place that at first seems pleasant but then they discover that it holds a dark secret.

-Each character in the group stands out for a unique quality or aspect of their personality:

The smart guy, the dumb one, the small and shy one, the big and burly one, etc.

-At some point the protagonists ally with a seabird.

-Both received a recent 3D adaptation that was less beloved by audiences than the previous one.

The art direction of 1975 Adventures of Gamba / Gamba no Bouken is currently one of my favorites (if not, my most favorite)! Really like the character designs' mix of angularity and sketchiness, the backgrounds' loose lineart and paint strokes, and the overall colors.
