✨ End of Year Questions ✨
Tagged by @ongreenergrasses 💖
I also didn’t think I created much this year, and. To be completely honest, I didn’t really make much new art, and what I did I didn’t really post here. Most of what I’ve done this year is really continue writing snippets of lyrics/verses/poetry in my notes. Hoping to make more time for a lot of things this year!
What is the favourite thing you created?
A sailboat reduction print (lino style but on a literal disposable plate)
Which work are you most proud of?
Honestly, either that same sailboat print or some of the poetry/lyric snippets I’ve written this year. Or the leather medicine pouch (also created for my class final project)
Is there anything you’re proud that you achieved this year?
I’m proud that I created anything at all outside of class requirements (I took one art centred course at the beginning of the year, which my sailboat print was created in)
Did you explore anything new this year?
Not so much for creating, but I did get stickers made of some of my previous work to sell at fairs and whatnot.
Wait no the leather medicine pouch - I haven’t done much leatherwork yet though I really want to create super long lasting functional pieces and textiles is very new to me and is a way of connecting to my grandmothers’ past. And I also joined a sewing/quilting club at school (which doesn’t seem to be running this year but I have no time anyway this semester so that’s fine) (I have not finished the sewing supply bag project we started)
Which work gave you the most difficulty?
Anything finished haha. I am still striving to fully finish and edit and refine some of my lyrics into songs (eventually to try to record and produce with whatever free and/or cheap software I can find).
Also some of the more unusual custom cake requests at work were difficult to do but they worked out.
And textiles can be. Frustrating.
What was your biggest creative challenge this year?
Finding time to create. I definitely took this as a year to go and do things that I. Had to go to. And while I probably could’ve brought a mini sketchbook with me, I didn’t usually.
Which work brought you the most joy?
A birthday card I did for a friend. It’s a pen sketch of their favourite beach (at least the view I got when I took a quick visit and picture of it)
Which of your works do you think people should check out?
…from 2023 nothing is posted unless you’re on my personal instagram or something. (Unless I did post my year of the water rabbit watercolour paintings? In which case - those.)
Otherwise my Creating Awl Together story/series (once I make time to create more for it 😅)
Do you have creative plans for the new year? Is there anything exciting that you’re working on?
Oh always 🥺💖✨
I accidentally made a new years resolution to record one of the songs I’ve written,, but also I want it to be. Better than the literal middle school vent lyrics I’ve written.. so we are. Trying to write some new stuff and upgrade to… mid twenties vent lyrics… (and some like!?! Joyful lyrics too?!?!) (I’m actually excited and terrified and don’t really play any instruments right now and what I played on flute isn’t really necessarily the vibe for what’s in my head?? But it could have a place so I’ll probably play again and if need be I could probably rent a tenor sax for a day or so.) so. Next up is learning (or throwing together) a bit of music production (I am currently gathering royalty free free samples from anywhere I find them more or less)
I really want to draw a lot more this year!!
And paint more again!!
And of some of these drawings I want to transfer them to be lino cut or dry point and do them as prints!!!
I have several quilts I want to make!! I’m going to start really small though to. Learn how to sew them haha 😅 But I hope my first quilt is a lovely sea turtle themed quilt for one of my best friends’ cat. Or a lap quilt for mum. I. Realistically I don’t think I’ll get to this before the end of the year.
I want to paint more ceramic pieces at the paint your own ceramics place (I have. Several pieces that I just need to finish painting)
More cards that I drew on~ I have a bit more energy than last year despite everything it seems right now so I am hoping I can continue to draw on cards for my friends 💖
This shall be the year I finish my dogs out doodle (barefoot ship life!!!)
Lastly, any words of wisdom or advice to share?
To myself: just try. Just try. Just do. It can be whatever. Just create something. Just create anything. Joy, catharsis, one single line. Anything you can.
Given how late I filled this out I’m not tagging anyone 😬

If I could say something 🙋‍♀️
What is with sims 4 creators and making lofts. Like there’s so many lofts. Everyone is building a loft. Why? It’s like the sims 3 sims with those face apps making them uncannily smiling… it’s just everywhere …
Hiii! I miss your asks :3 Sorry for late reply, I had to take a long time to figure out my answer. About sims 4 lots: I don't know about it, I only check ts4 for new stuff that I want to convert 😅 And for ts3 AI edited sims: I think it was a part of a more huge trend, because I've seen pics of real people, that edit their photos with these AI. I don't really feel "uncanny valley" effect actually, I think it looks just tasteless for me. But if people likes AI art, its good for them.
...Longread with my opinion about AI and some personal stuff under the cut, hope this will be interesting to read:
I don't really feel good about generative AI, not only because their devs are unethical in selecting material for training (like using artworks without consent), but also because when I try to use them they become artificial stupidity instead of artificial intelligence. So I'm not afraid of "ai is gonna rule the world" or anything like that. There was some cases when media corporations tried to use AI to replace humans art- and/or text- work, but it came out shitty. So I don't think that in the near future like 95% of "big" media will became AI generated. I hope there was more accessible that type of AI, that can automatize some monotonous and annoying stages of human work (e.g I recently retouched a photos for a friend of mine, and although his skin was in pretty good condition, it took quite a bit of time to clean up various blemishes, with AI it may be way more faster), but there is not that much, and that type of software prices is really insane (also that really annoying that there is little-to-no stuff that you can buy for ever, everything is for subscription now). What worries me most of all is that it will become another bubble that which when it burst will leave a lot of people without work and without money. It bothered me because of my other friend who is studying computer science and she's interested in AI and I wouldn't want that bubble to burst so she doesn't get rich. And this scenario looks more realistic than anything :(
Thank you for reading <3333

Pleasantly surprised to find that my computer's speech recognition software actually allows me to interact with the tumblr website on desktop. Unpleasantly surprised to find that it doesn't work with my LibreOffice Writer, which I use for pretty much all papers and stories and essays and whatnot. 🤨
I have been trying to write with it because the creative frustration is real. Maybe I'll be able to share some of my honestly unfamiliar writing! It's weird how differently I write when I'm dictating. I don't think I'm satisfied with it. I can only write a little bit before I get frustrated, and I don't always have a quiet place to just speak my stories out loud 😅
But that's just my writing. Unfortunately, it's very unhelpful when it comes to my studies for all the above reasons and more 🙃 In text citations? References? Websites? Research articles? ? ? The other day it kept picking up random noises as words and adding them to what I was writing! No matter what I do, it still requires pretty heavy editing afterwards, and editing isn't a very smooth operation with speech recognition. Not to mention note taking is a thing of the past.
Still a long road ahead, it seems. 😅

My NVMe Needs - Part 4: Another Trial & Error (w/ my paper dolls) [Recorded on Apr 21st, 2023]
So, here’s Part 4 of “My NVMe Needs“ (featuring my paper dolls). 😁 Actually, this is Part 2 of 2 videos that I've recorded, yesterday (April 21st, 2023).
For this continuation, I'm attempting another try & hopefully will succeed in the migration. Plus, I'll reveal the benchmarks using helpful software (which, I won't mention the name until the end). No, not the "Samsung Magician"; not yet though, I'll save it, but rather something else. You'll see. 😉
If you haven't seen my previous part & other ones (that related), then I'll provide some links down below: ↓
• Part 1: Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD (1TB) Review [Apr 7th, 2023]
• Part 2: Thermalright M.2 2280 Pro Review [Apr 11th, 2023]
*• Part 3: Installation and trial & error [Recorded on Apr 21st, 2023] (published: Apr 22nd, 2023)*
So, without further ado, let's continue we left of:
✋ HOLD IT! (AGAIN!)✋
• Okay so before I discuss my experience, let's discuss my recording process. I have 17 recorded videos 🎦📲on my smartphone (the Honor 8C), one of which is from the VLC media player 🎦🖥️. However, squeezing 17 videos in one package wouldn't fit in my (Tumblr) post 😕, so I decided to slice it in half to make a minimum of 500 MB per video post 🪓, not to mention, the adjustments, speeding up the process, and adding subtitles. 🎦✏️🖥️ And thus, I made two videos. It took 7 hours to finish these videos between 7 PM to 2 AM (Apr 21st to 22nd). And man, I'm all relieved after editing. So much so, I want a take a break after this, but I can't because I want to end my ambitious topic sooner before celebrating my birthday, next month (May 6th). Regardless, at least I'm all done with editing, and all was left is to type in with my thoughts. And uhh, if you see me shirtless, then my apologies for that, I completely forgot to wear a shirt before recording. lol 😅 Plus, it's damn heat season in my country (The Philippines), so it's hard enough to sweat my glands while progressing (, both daylight & night), you know. 🥵☀️ Anyways, let's get over with...
My Recorded & Edited Video (using Filmora 9): (pls watch) ↑ 🎦✏️🖥️
• So, in second attempt, you noticed the total memory size was decreased by 789 bytes than before. Here, I have some photos, right here. ↓ [pls see my 12th & 13th image(s)]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• Sadly, the third attempt was another failure despite the 250+ GB won't handle the migration. And uh, did I mention the writing rate is slow from the physical drive? Yeah, I could see that. However, there's a solution to that. So, let's proceed to these images. ↓ [pls see 14th & 15th image(s)]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• Alright, third attempt time! And you noticed I reduced the memory size to 150+ GB because I uninstalled larger files/apps. But wait, what are the larger files/apps that I've uninstalled? Well, 2 PC games. One is what I actively played [CLICK ME! #1], while the other is not [CLICK ME! #2] because I suck at playing it. But, is still a great game though (you should check it out at #2). Nonetheless, after it reach 99%, it was a success! And I immediately click the button to shut down the PC! *sigh* Yes! Rejoice!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
16th & 17th Image(s): ↑
• Next, I turn on the PC once more & press F12 to access the boot menu. There, I swap my old physical drive to my NVMe M.2 drive as my new main boot before I save & click the new main boot from the "Boot Override" list. Then it restarts my PC, but there's a problem... It did not work well! I'm not sure what happened, so I have another round of manual troubleshooting (Round 2). After a couple of minutes, I fire up my PC & it finally worked! It boost very quickly than before until another problem came out to smash my monitor's face, it blacked out! (no pun intended) Round 3 for manual troubleshooting! I'm starting to get frustrated, but I won't give up on my PC. With blood, sweat & tears in my body, my PC has finally worked! And it was worth the hard for me!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
18th & 19th Image(s): ↑
• Now, I was gonna install a leftover cooling fan from a brand called "DeepCool", but I'm having trouble my PC, a couple of times. Installing a cooling fan (whether 4 fans or more) is an essential requirement to keep our internal board (CPU, Graphics Card, NVMe) from overheating for a long period. And it sucks without it. *sigh* But don't worry, I'll be targeting & browsing a new spanking PC tower case, very soon. As well as a brand new power supply, too. My paper dolls approves my idea.
Tumblr media
My Benchmarks: ↑
• Let's proceed with another test (that I've promised). This is the so-called "helpful software" that I was talking about. I would like to introduce the "CrystalDiskMark", a read/write memory testing software. Some of you may familiar with it, but others not so much. Nonetheless, these are the four benchmarks that I've tested, including my recent Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe, which has the most readable & writable rated speeds of the four memory-based drives, with the bottom right being the least, and that's the Seagate Barracuda 7200 HD. That's the reason why I struggle with playing games or waiting to boot using an old & slow physical drive. Not only that but the multiple windows & tasks that sometimes can't handle. I could relate to that situation though. But thanks to the supreme performance of the NVMe M.2 drives, it can handle pretty much anything, including PC games that are larger files (particularly AAA game titles). However, running large-size PC games means overheating the NVMe's processing unit & other chips, making it stressful on your gaming PC, and that brings it with the introduction of the heat sink for NVMe, which can dissipate the heat & prevent overheating the NVMe's processor & chips. Sure, it may not need it for your NVMe sticks, but we need to keep our memory-based drives & our PC itself top-shaped without any signs of error, not to mention longer period. And that make sense, you know.
Side Note: It said, that the Samsung 970 EVO Plus delivers a sequential read & writes of 3,500 MB/s & 3,300 MB/s respectively. And according to my benchmark test, I would say a solid promise. Even though, the write rate was almost 3,300 MB/s-ish but still a solid promise to me.
Overall:
• I have to say, it was satisfying & a bit frustrating, at the same time. I've shared a lot of mistakes & plenty of undo processes, with a ton of sweaty & face-rubbing from my body because of the dry season, but that doesn't stop me until I'm done. But in the end, I accomplished the installation of the SSD NVMe M.2 drive with my first owned NVMe stick from Samsung (970 EVO Plus) & the heat sink by Thermalright. Hopefully, these two we're safe & sound, forever without second thoughts about removing them. But, should I buy another NVMe with additional items to operate? Maybe. If I buy another NVMe M.2 drive, then I could use it for my file storage instead of the mechanical counterpart. But Nah, I guess one NVMe stick is good enough for me (I suppose). One thing I'm concerned about is not touching any internal components when I try to install a cooling fan or a heat sink with another NVMe stick on it because if I do with a slight touch my PC won't run at all, and that scares me... *sigh* But in the end, it was a worth it & satisfied my computer upgrade. My ambitious computer upgrade was a success!
I have more tests to come until the end, so I'll be planning to make another part for the finale (before my birthday countdown starts), so stay tuned.
Well, that's all for now.

4 and 9 for the fanfic ask!!
Thanks for the ask!!!
4. what is the plot bunny you’ve been carrying for the longest? optional bonus question: do you ever wonder why you haven’t written it yet and experience deep existential dread?
AAAAAAAHHHHHHH THERE ARE A FEW. there’s at least two I have from back when I exclusively wrote in my notes app 🫠 Echo and Rex. My darlings. My lovely boys. They occupy my every waking thought and I am still rolling around an Echo and Rex bonding fic. I’ve written ideas as time goes on but haven’t completely gotten it written. But it’ll get there. Because I can’t stop thinking about it. Always there. Constantly. ALSO. I really want to write an Echo and Crosshair focused fic (shocked, surprised) about them right at the beginning of Echo joining the batch. Some missions. Bonding. A lot of ridiculousness. That idea plagues me at night. I get random ideas for it in the middle of the night and HAVE BEEN for about two years now 😅😅😅 I’m stubborn so I’m gonna write it. I’ll do it. I’m going to do it.
I do absolutely wonder why I’ve never written it and it does in fact cause me existential dread. The wonderful lovely ideas that go to die in my docs bc I lose interest half way through and for WHAT!?!? If you only knew the amount of ideas sitting half thought out in a document that I desperately want to write but just. Can’t. Part of it is because of the long fics I’ve been writing recently. The planning for them has been… a lot. And I’m enjoying it! I really am! It just takes a lot of my emotional and mental energy.
Other thing that you didn’t ask for but I’m saying anyway is that I found a way to start to combat this issue and I am going to share it. I got a project management software website thingy (it’s free and it’s called Trello) and I literally plan all of my writing schedule there. All of it. It has due dates. It’s color coded. I have flags for things that need editing. All of my writing goals for the year are in there. All of my ideas are there too so I have something to pick from when I want to write something new. I write one brand new idea a month. I write two chapters of my long fic a month. And I’ve been succeeding!! It’s only been three months but it’s helping with this process. Those ^ ideas are scheduled. Maybe I’ll actually write them 😅😅😅😅😅
9. in an ideal world where you’re already super successful and published, would you want to see a tv or movie adaptation of your work? why or why not?
Oooooooh I LOVE this one. Not sure if anyone else would feel the same way but I’d have to say no! Honestly! I have SEVERAL reasons. I’ve thought about this a lot.
One is that I am just. So heavily reliant on the ✨vibes✨ I want something to have and sometimes it’s all down to the thoughts my narrator is having or the physical cues and it really builds a scene out for me. I like to get my point across and sometimes when seeing adaptations to film or tv it just… doesn’t work. I’d want my audience to be able to imagine characters and even imagine themselves in that character’s place and sometimes you lose that with screen adaptations. I honestly think that the newest Percy Jackson tv show was excellent at bringing the characters to life from the books I loved so dearly from childhood. They picked perfect actors for the characters and I personally liked changes that they made while the movie from years ago just wasn’t quite what I wanted after loving the books.
I don’t want that disappointment.
I’d honestly be more interested in seeing the fandom create. I might be biased because I write fic but I’d much rather see art and read fics than adapt anything I do into a movie or tv show.

I was indirectly tagged by @miingyu to list my  5  6 favorite creations that I’ve posted. Thanks for the open invitation Stevie! this is good excuse to get motivated to make more stuff!
In order from recent to old:
LUCY, Irrelevant Answer
 A.C.E, Higher
A.C.E, Yuchan
LUCY, Snooze
LUCY, Merry-go-round of life
BTS, Wings
ramblings on each below the cut...
1. Irrelevant Answer : by far my favourite thing that I’ve made lately! I often try to make complex composition gifsets (i.e., not using tumblr’s grid), but they usually die before I finish... either they’re too much work, or I just can’t get it to meet my vision. But composition is my favourite thing, and when a set comes together as a unified work... WOO BABY, so pleased. This one was actually really quick to make given the style, and admittedly the only thing I’m not 100% on is the colouring which could have used more time. But I think this came together really well, and perhaps more importantly, I think it suits the source material -- it feels like the MV to me and I’m very proud of that.
2. Higher : I tend to think of this as a moving poster and I think it’s pretty cool! This is one of those moments where watching the video these two shots instantly linked in my mind as mirrors of each other, and so this just had to happen. This one was an interesting challenge. Fitting these two shots together was a little trickier than I anticipated since they don’t have matching camera movements in them. And I basically never use text so settling on a font  and a placement took an eon, not to mention pulling out the sun/moon graphic from the video. This is another one where I feel like I did a decent job capturing the feel of the video. In particular, I like the flicker at the end that I added to smooth out the loop but also to reference that effect in the video. The notes on this one are very gratifying, I really appreciate the comments people left in the tags
3. Yuchan : this one is simple, but I think it’s basically the best colouring I’ve ever done. There’s nothing crazy here, the colouring wasn’t especially hard, but damn, that end product does not look like I made it 😂 It doesn’t hurt that Chan is charming as all hell here
4. Snooze : the other two concept heavy gifsets above are ones where I knew what the end product was going to be basically as soon as I started, and there wasn’t a whole lot of early work to get there, just finessing at the end. This one though, I knew that I wanted blue and yellow, and that was it. Hunting for the shots, and then adding in the light to dark element, and for some reason deciding it had to be a faceless set too made this one a lot more of a process. I’m very proud of the end product. It feels gentle and soothing. I’m also happy that the visual themes (yellow and blue, light to dark) come out really clearly (at least to me). There’s always a risk that it’ll be too subtle and get lost, but I think I did it! The dark at the bottom also makes for a good grounded composition so that’s nice :)
5. Merry-go-round of life : In general I’m not very experimental with my colouring, the goal is usually to just go with how things look, and just do some tidying for the gif format. But this one I actually did some stuff! At a glance the colouring might not look especially wild, but it’s pretty different from the original, and it took a while to convince myself that I like it 😅
6. Wings : Initially I wasn’t going to include anything from before 2021 because it wasn’t til this year that I upped my gif game. BUT the two sets I made for the Wings short films are a demonstration of my goddamn determination.  I made these sets before I had photoshop, using free online gif making websites. Picking the shots, editing them so that the edges were black or white and attaching on the circle animation... MY GOD. Each of these at one point or other were at least 4 separate gifs that I had to stitch together. All of which done on software that really didn’t allow for colour editing beyond contrast and brightness... I don’t know how I did it as well as I did. I genuinely like these. I think they’ve got big impact and fit the unsettling vibes of the short films. Good job past me!
...I’m just now realising that “creations” would also include my writing, eh?
Given that I haven’t posted an analysis this year I think it’s prob fair that I skipped them... but I genuinely love all of the things I’ve written! ...maybe not the writing per se, but the ideas! I spend a ton of time on those and the ones that I’m not 100% on (idea-wise), I don’t post. Though I actively post them before I’m satisfied with the writing because otherwise they would never see the light of day 😂
Special shout out to my Love Yourself colour series. Series are always extra hard to pull off, but I think I fucking nailed those. Also they were surprisingly concise, which is not a strength of mine, and they were some of my first ones so they have a special place in my heart and on this blog

My 8bitdo Pro 2 Review - Part 9.5 (Recorded Video) [May 26, 2022]
Hello! Here’s Part 9.5 of my new 8bitdo gamepad, the Pro 2 Bluetooth Gamepad/Controller! 🎮😁
Sorry for the long delay. I've been absent since April due to my PC problem, but now I'm back in the saddle. 🙂🖥️ Except for one, however, the concern of my hard disk drive. 😔 *sigh* Anyways...
For this half part, I'm now attempting to do a test. Well, a quick test if these back paddle buttons work on my Pro 2 gamepad after mapping from the Ultimate Software.🙂🎮🖥️
If didn't see my Part 9, then please [CLICK ME!].
So without further ado, let's get started:
BTW: Watch my record video first.🎦📲
My Experience:
• Alright, so here's the trusted Gamepad-Tester website w/ my 8Bitdo Pro 2 gamepad. Also, the website itself has noticeable change since (well, a bit). It can now support four controllers, and the Xbox controller line art is outlined black, only for buttons and analog sticks.
• Nonetheless, to start my first button test, I press the profile switch button & the tiny light shows that I have an existing mapped profile from the Ultimate Software. And, look at that, my back paddle buttons work! With that, I don't need to press buttons from analog sticks while driving or walking as a character in any game. But, will it actually work in (any) games? let's find out.
• Well, apparently, GTA V online 🏙️🚘 is the only game I could test on than anything else.😅 I probably should add more games in the future, maybe some more miniature memory-size games should do, and thankfully I have a ton of them.😊🎮 As for the functional back paddle buttons, they work well much like other buttons from my Pro 2 gamepad.👌 As I'm driving in GTA V Online, the P2 button is my Left Stick button for horn sound. Surprisingly, I could press & hold the P2 horn sound while I'm driving, which is pretty annoying yet pretty cool at the same time 😅📯🚘. But, when I step in selected weaponized ground vehicles I could deploy proximity mines with the same button (or any similar/related mines). While the P1 button is my Right Stick button for looking behind, quite very handy though. And when I'm in stand mode with my character, I could press both P1 & P2 buttons for some cool taunt action. 😁👍 The best part, is when I turn on my controller my profile still loads indicating that the light is on & I could turn off the profile easily, nice!
• But, don't worry about game emulators (a.k.a. my all-in-one game emulator called "Retroarch") because I'll be planning to test it out in the next part.🙂
BTW: I almost forgot! An update firmware v1.08 for my Pro 2 gamepad has already been released & tweaked numerous problems such as optimizing the analog sticks & wired USB connection for X-Input mode, and finally the rapid blink light for turbo function. I've already updated & it works just fine. *sigh* Rejoiced! 😁🎮
Overall:
• The unique feature of the profile switch & the additional back paddle buttons are something that we need during our playtime on any game genre(s). And my Pro 2 gamepad from 8Bitdo is no exception. I'm having a great time for the past months playing PC games with this gorgeous retro-inspired gamepad. So, I have more things to come until I'm done with this topic. 🎮🙂
Well, that’s all for now. If you haven’t seen my previous parts of the same item, as well as my previous 8bitdo review items, then I’ll provide some links down below.↓😉
