IT BE TIME FOR YMA SIDHE LOOOOOORE!!!!!! THE @mommyclan background Scottish Ghost Attack Grannie!

Sidhe was born in a little cottage in the woods, home to an old punk woman who practiced an odd religion - somewhere on the scale between Wicca and Celtic druidism, with an emphasis on music connecting the planes of existence. Sidhe's mother Morgana raised her to read these text, and learn the family practice of hunting "The Returned", strange beings that dragged cats from the heavens and below to the fiery pits. The pair were very successful, with Sidhe's first kill being the tom that sired her...

Eventually, Sidhe struck out on her own, and after a few successful years of hunting, she found herself with a void. She wanted kits, but every attempt at a romantic relationship ended in disaster - she never figured out if that was a Curse or terrible luck. On one pass through the woods, she sheltered at an old abandoned church dedicated to St Francis of Assisi. Within, she met the local cryptid named Lugosi, a cat of some sort from far away. After a few visits, she asked him to father her kits - but no romance involved. He agreed with a promise to help raise them like an uncle, and soon after she gave birth to three kits - Brahm, Wilma, and Dewey.

The kits grew up in relative peace, and Sidhe and Lugosi grew close like siblings. However, it soon became noticeable that Brahm was...uncaring. Selfish. It took Brahm trying to shove Dewey off the church for Sidhe to act. She took him to a twoleg cat rescue, hoping that they could help. Eventually Wilma moved to a barn a few hills over, and Dewey left to explore his love of reading at the library in the nearby town. Sidhe left too, going back to hunting, but visiting often.

And then she came back to a pregnant molly at the church, and her tale of abuse at the paws of her own son Brahm. Sidhe stayed then - for the pregnancy, and the birth of a little black tabby kit with her looks and Lugosi's fangs. The molly was sent home, but little Dracula stayed with his grandparents - his Grandpops, and his Yma. She stayed, taught him how to use the knife he treasured to defend himself, loved him dearly...and passed away in her sleep.

...which did little to stop her. Within a week of her death, she re-materialized as a spirit, protecting the cat she loved like a heart-bound brother, the grandkit who wore her collar with pride, and the old worn church that held the faith of its parishioners and refugees like trees held the sun. Eventually her grandkit went on to make a new family visiting often...and one night, bringing one of the Returned with him, one willing to harm themselves to save a soul. One she would not let go - @askdoeleaf was HER family now, and no powers below or otherwise could change that.

OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS

*Sidhe has a strong Scottish accent, thick and wild. Lots of *ye* and *aye* and a strong urge to kill I MEAN bother the British.

*Fond of Scotch and meat pies. Despises blood pudding to the point of physically throwing it out windows. Neutral on tea surprisingly.

*Will terrorize "Brats", usually those who disrespect the hospitality of the church or harm others for cruel reasons. Favorite spot to hang is in the rafters, so she can descend menacingly.

*Makes knives for all the grandkits, with blessings to suit the user. Adds her sigil somewhere, usually small and undetectable.

*Her grandkits can summon her in times of extreme danger. The ghostly neck area looks like space.

Drac's family tree! His Yma Sidhe wanted kits but not a husband, and younger Lugosi agreed, so long as he got to stay in touch. Now a blurb per family member!

Lugosi was born in an illegal fur farm. He escaped from the criminals as they transported him to be a movie star's pet, and has lived in the old church ever since. The loners that pass through think of his as a bit of a cryptid, seeing as he's not a domestic cat. He keeps a garden of herbs in the back, hidden by some gnarled bushes, and shares freely, so long as they don't take everything, and maybe stop for a chat with the Floofy old man. (He's not actually that old, but as a Grandpops he insists as acting like a geezer - it keeps the rouges on their feet to see an old tom suddenly spring up and whallop them.)

Sidhe was a loner who craved company but hated the idea of being tied down. By the time she had her litter with Lugosi, she was desperate. While the pair never fell in love, they were close friends, and when Sidhe passed in her sleep Lugosi mourned her deeply. Hopefully, if Dewcall ever shows up, the notably cranky molly's ghost will leave off.

Wilma is a spitfire, uncomfortable with most Twolegs, save for the family that cleans the church and the older Twoleg that owns the barn she calls home. Said Twoleg often posts videos to the internet of Wilma hunting mice, using a hand scythe she knocked off the wall. She visits her Pops often, and taught Drac how to properly carry his Knife.

Dewey D lives at the local library, keeping pests out and drawing visitors in. They're most well known for stopping a familial kidnapping, mauling a grandmother trying to steal away her grandchildren. They got so many treats after that, and a plaque on the wall.

Brahm is far too much like his mother's worst side, all bitter and clingy, demanding to be in charge. His relationships have always ended badly, and he refuses to even speak to his only (known) kitten. His Twolegs spoil him rotten and refuse to curtail his behaviors at home.

Carmilla is the pet of an Influencer, and has been in many advertisements. She craved adventure however, and escaped to the countryside, where she met Brahm. After a tumultuous relationship, and a rescue from Lugosi, she wanted nothing to do with the great freedom she'd always imagined. Staying just long enough to wean baby Drac, she headed homeward, and has refused to leave if not in a carrier.

You already know Draculapaw! His collar was once his Ymas, his Knife was the first thing he found at the Twoleg Item Depository (aka that dumping spot in the woods), and he joined Mommyclan at the urging of Grandpops Lugosi, who knew that his grandkit needed friends his own age. Lugosi did expect visits, but not from all these Mommyclan cats! Everyone is welcome, so long as they don't burn the place down or steal all his herbs!

We got me in my costume as a cryptid hunter - I am wearing those socks as I type; Draculapaw as Christopher Lee Hammer Films Dracula - it's also his first birthday in Mommyclan canon! Happy birthday me boy; Jawbreaker as Walker Texas Ranger - if he lets go of the belt it will fall Right Off; Yma Sidhe as classic crazy Doomguy - she does not know how to casual hold a shotgun lol; Grandpops Lugosi as Hudson from Gargoyles - Lu sounds like Ed Asner but not Scottish, that's Sid's area of expertise; Dr Miyo as Sally the witch, the first officially recognized Magical Girl - she has many magical girl costumes she pulls out for her Cat Instagram; and Doomguy in a Kigurumi - he woke up in the costume and is very confused.

Drac’s Yma Sidhe was always a very spiritual cat in life, and in death she haunts the old church, scaring the fur off of intruders or “brats”. No one knows what makes you a brat. Be afraid.

Grandpops Lugosi can see ghosts, but only on church grounds. Seeing as the place has a sculpture of St Francis of Assisi, it makes sense that the place Feels Safe to both the living and the dead. (Send your visiting family there, Grandpops loves visitors!)

Jawbreaker frequents a Dispensary, and after seeing humans paying with green things and squares, he tried paying for some with a long green thing he found. The employees lost their crap because it was a $100 bill, and gave him a baggie. He now pays with spare change, money from the ground, and wallets that were left out.
