Runninh away tropes?
I love them! There are so many aaaa!! A few of my favorites would be...
• The whumpee has escaped their captors but is heavily wounded. Bonus points if our whump is holding their wounds in a bloody hand. Double bonus points if it’s the middle of winter and the whumpee has to face the elements all while leaving a bloody trail.
• The antagonist is chasing down our rag tag group of heroes, one of them is badly hurt and has to be carried by the muscle of the group.
• Our whumpee broke off from the group because an enemy of theirs is after them. (A lot of whump plot bunnies can come out of this)
• The whumpee is seriously injured but cannot rest or sleep because the whumper is searching for them
• anytime a character is running away and trips, injuring themselves OR giving enough time for the whumper to capture them

Hey! 7, 13, and 16 for the whump asks?? :)
Hiya!
7. What’s your favorite type of whumpee?
I am a huge Peter Parker(MCU) and Spencer Reid(Criminal Minds) whumper for a reason haha. I think they embody my favorite type of whumpees because they are such sweet characters, the Everyman archetypes(excluding the genius bits), they are dorks, you name it. I think characters with a lot of heart and a natural sense of sensitivity are really fun to work with.
Tumblr media
13. Favorite physical injury?
I really love blood loss whump and head injuries 🤤 Mostly because I think both require extensive treatment which means a lot of aftercare. Head injuries are probably my top favorite because you’ve got hallucinations, difficult recoveries, and soo much potential for angst.
Tumblr media
16. A whump show/movie/book you’d recommend right now?
Daredevil has some of my favorite whump scenes, ever. No joke. If you like whump and gritty action, 10/10 Daredevil is for you. Criminal Minds has some awesome whump too(sadly, many injuries only last for an episode with the exception of a few instances). Grey’s Anatomy is literally just a MedWhump drama and House MD has some of my favorite whump tropes in the very premise of the show!! The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones also are not shy when it comes to hurting their characters.
I don’t read as much as I used to and the books Ive read have mostly been disappointing. I will say that I like the Six of Crows Duology and that there are some great scenes of whump, if anyone is looking for a fun read.
Finally, Some really slept on whumpy movies would be the Dark Knight Trilogy. There is very little comfort in them but the hurt is 👌🏼

what do you think about restrained whumpees?
A great trope! Whether it’s them being held down for treatment without any sedation/anesthetic or by the villain. I think my favorite is when the whumpee is restrained while the team tries to fix them up and all of a sudden they hold them down and put a sock or belt in their mouth. Bonus points if the whumpee widens their eyes and realize why they have something between their teeth. Gooooood stuff.

would you be willing to write a drabble where Reid tries to talk his way out of a dangerous situation, but instead of calming the baddie, it just pisses them off, leading to Reid whump?
YES. A MILLION TIMES. YES.
Word Count: ~630Source: Criminal MindsCharacters: Spencer Reid, “Denise” (made-up UNSUB)
——————————————-
“Looking for this?”
Reid bit his lip. Before him was his gun, being pointed towards him by a teenager who showed no signs of fear. As he saw the flicker in her eyes, the steadiness of her hold, his heart began to pound. He slowly showed his hands to her, palms exposed as they became drenched in sweat.
“Denise, you don’t want to do this. My team will be coming through those doors any minute now,” Spencer began. His voice carried his anxious yet somehow steady energy. This was a child after all, a young girl who had too much to live for.
But, Denise didn’t let him finish. She aimed for his leg and pulled the trigger. The pop echoed in the room as the agent fell the the floor. She didn’t blink once as she watched him come down on all fours, gripping his now bleeding thigh.
Spencer ground his teeth and glanced up at Denise. His breathing grew ragged as his leg pulsed, burning at the site. He took a moment before attempting to match the young girl’s hardened stare.
“Denise…”
She inhaled and stepped closer to him, gun shaking in his face now. Tears welled in her eyes and she considered ending his life in that moment.
“Don’t you call me that,” she spat. “I’ll kill you now. I’ll kill you and leave your body here so your precious little team can try and fix you up! Just to fail!” She continued. The lump in her throat captured some of her words, revealing how vulnerable she truly was. She shook the gun once more at him.
With a nod, Reid raised a hand towards her, still applying pressure to the gushing wound on his right thigh with the other. He kept from panting, not about to allow her the pleasure of hearing his pain.
“All right, I won’t. Killing me will do nothing but… but seal your fate.” He took a moment for himself, doing his best to remain calm and clear. “Y-You are a smart girl, you know how this ends. You can take me down… but you know that at the end of the day… I am not your father.” He watched as she tightened up, growing stressed at the mention of her father.
“Don’t talk about him.”
“He’s going to jail, so please… l-let’s stop all of this now. Denise-“ the repetition of her name was enough for her the pull the trigger once again, a bullet going through Reid’s hand and gliding past his ear.
Spencer couldn’t help but yelp. He clutched his soaked palm, becoming a bloody heap on the floor. His ears rung and eyes watered. Determined not to quit, however, the young agent heaved himself upwards, trying to get up once again.
Denise looked over her shoulder as the sound of feet racing towards the room rattled through the vacant corridors. Her firm hold soon pointed at the door.
“I’ll shoot any agent that comes through that door. Tell them to stand down, now.”
Reid did nothing, only watching her with disappointed, glazed eyes. His vision had become doubled and his complexion was already paling, he slumped over, basking in the throbbing of his entire body.
“Do it now,” Denise’s tone broke, sounding more like a plea than an order. Tears rushed down her cheeks as she kept her focus on the exposed doorway, knowing all too well that this was the end and she had no where to go.

Person A used to be a soldier and has mentioned that they would have loved to go paintballing before they became one. Person B surprises them by taking them paintballing, only to find that the sound of the guns and feeling of the paint pellets hitting person A gives them intense flashbacks- they never spoke about what happened while they were a soldier, despite being extremely close with person B. How does person B react and what to they do to apologise?
This is soooo good omg. Okay I’m saving this so that tomorrow I can write a Marvel Fic on this 💕

Some tropes I like- characters falling into a chasm or somewhere they get hurt and can’t get out themselves, getting lost in a snowstorm and freezing cold, and especially being ignored when they really need the attention. Also the character starting to cry when someone finally helps them, & the person helping gets really worried and asks what they did wrong, but they’re literally just crying because no one has showed them that much compassion before. What fandoms do you write for might I ask?
Omg I love all of these !! The chasm one is so good too, like just imagining them losing their voice from calling out for help?? Plus crashes also have so much angst potential.
Also—I write for the MCU(including Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, etc), Voltron, Criminal Minds, Grey’s Anatomy, Law and Order: SVU, ATLA/LOK, plus more.

is a character's ptsd being triggered considered whump?
Hmmm... depends on the trope? In the show Grey’s Anatomy, a character has his PTSD triggered and strangles his girlfriend in the middle of one of his episodes. So on one hand it’s a very emotional moment for him and a scary one for his girlfriend(she may be his wife, it’s been soooo long), and on the other he’s having to cope that with the fact that he does have a problem.
I personally consider it whump, so long as it is done in a manner that is respectful of course to those actually afflicted(which means including trigger warnings in gifsets and works ). There are moments when a character may experience an episode and injure themselves or those they care about. I think that’s a really interesting whump trope that develops the characters and sheds light on what people go through!!

Whenever I read these whump pages, I feel like a wide-eyed novice at some kind of connoisseur consul! You guys know just what to say to inflict the max amount of pain yet counteract with the perfect comfort! So thank you for fulfilling this amateur's need!
Awe!!! Thank you so much ❤️
Funny thing, I totally stalked the whump community for awhile before finally making my own tumblr so I totally get what you’re saying!

Pidge isn't whumped nearly enough by the VLD fandom and idk that makes me unreasonably sad
THIS. I am so glad I’m not alone in this heh. Just imagine all the whump potential too. The entire team would basically short circuit at the sight of Pidge getting wounded or sick or whatever. Not to mention how Sam and Matt would react??
In conclusion: not only should the fandom whump her more, but also the creators because there’s literally so much drama that could follow aaaaaaa

name your top 3 whump tropes that begin with S
Oooooo
Okay this was tough but here we go!
(In no order)
1. Sacrifice: A character taking a hit for someone else, getting themselves captured/tortured instead, the whole deal. It’s all really great in my opinion. Sometimes I get kind of disappointed when my favorite character to whump ends up being the one who is saved in this fashion because “darn it we were so close”. But all is easily forgiven because this trope is a treat.
2. STAB STAB STAB: stab wounds are my favorite. Like gunshots are great, poison, etc. but holy cow do I have a soft spot for stab wounds. I actually think I’m so intrigued by it because usually it’s done when a character is betrayed (in the spirit of “et tu Brute?”). But even without that nice touch of treachery, stab wounds have a lot of drama attached for them. Is the blade serrated? Dipped in venom? Curved? Dirty? In conclusion: YESS.
3. Stuck: Spider-man Homecoming really made me fall in love with this trope. Whumpees stuck beneath fallen rubble or quick sand, or anything really that makes them trapped. It’s great because at first they fight like hell to get out, but then there’s a moment of panic and terror. That’s the real meat. At what point does our beloved hero give up?
