Could you talk about Everlark? Katniss and Peeta as a couple. Why do you think they are compatible?
Thank you, ❤ @everlarkshipper
Hey, Anon!
Why do you think Katniss and Peeta are compatible?
This question OH MY GOD
I love love LOVE Peeta and Katniss and I will ship them until I die. I loved them since their first scene together where Katniss remembers the day when Peeta saved her life by giving her the bread and she refers to him as the first dandelion of the spring.
I'm going to say I love them because of the very very VERY obvious connection between them. Peeta has loved her since forever, and her feelings develop for him as well, albeit slowly, and once she does realize she loves him, it's just really amazing, the way they fall together at once.
I also think they balance each other out, which is important in any relationship. Katniss also had said that she needed Peeta, more than Gale, who as her best friend for years. She wanted his kindness and his peace, and that only he could give her that. I think they brought out the best in each other and I think that's what makes them so special.
Peeta was a sort of comfort to Katniss after Prim died, as he also knew what it was like to lose people; for him it was his entire family. And the way he always was with her, like she always lit a light inside him, and vice-versa, was just beautiful.
Thanks for the ask, Anon!

Do you think Katniss settle for Peeta in the epilogue?
Thank you,
@everlarkshipper
Hey, thank you so much for the ask @everlarkshipper 💗
No, I absolutely do *not* believe that Katniss settled for Peeta. It’s obvious from the very beginning of the first book that she’s kept tabs on him since he threw her the bread, similarly to how he’s kept tabs on her. She is dismayed when he’s reaped alongside her, and very hurt when it appears that he’s working with the Careers to eliminate her during the Games.
And that’s just the first book/movie.
We know that Katniss was afraid to fall in love because she saw what it did to her mother when her father was killed, which is a perfectly reasonable trauma response to what happened. But even despite that, she couldn’t help but admit that her feelings for Peeta were far beyond just “friends” that evening on the Quarter Quell beach. Stating that she would be “damaged beyond repair” if Peeta dies does not sound like she’s settling to me.
Thank you again for the ask, this was fun! 💗

the part of catching fire where peeta protects her after the jabberjays? do you think she was all the way on his lap or do you think just her head? if she were all the way on him, the size difference has to be considerable ;)
Thank you ❤
@everlarkshipper
Hey, thank you so much for the ask! 💗
It has always been my headcanon that Peeta gathered Katniss into his lap as soon as he could get hold of her. Since she is canonically so much smaller than Peeta, it would have been easy for him to do so.
Thank you again for the ask! 💗

Do you think hijacked Peeta fell out of love with Katniss? Or did he hate her/was afraid of her but still loved her? Is post hijacked Peeta the same Peeta or a new person altogether? Thank you :)
@everlarkshipper
Hey @everlarkshipper thank you so much for the ask! 💖
The short answer to your question is no, I don’t believe that hijacked Peeta fell out of love with Katniss. I equate Peeta’s hijacking with the brainwashing of Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in the marvel cinematic universe. There, Bucky’s essential personality was “overridden”, for lack of a better word, with his HYDRA assassin programming, forcing him to adopt a sort of new personality. But the old Bucky, the person who was Steve Rogers’ friend and a staunch defender of the U.S. and her allies during WWII, was still there, sort of blanketed underneath, and just waiting for its turn to re-emerge back to the foreground. I believe Peeta was the same. The hijacking warped Peeta’s mind much like the ECT warped Bucky’s, forcing his sweet, kind nature down into the depths of him while bringing all of his fears to the surface. The fact that Peeta was never quite sure where he stood with Katniss played into those fears. (Please understand this does NOT in any way blame Katniss for Peeta’s behaviour while hijacked. I’m simply stating a fact 😊).
Therefore, post-hijacked Peeta was always himself, just without the heavy burden of his brainwashing. Unfortunately, the PTSD will always linger 😞.
Thank you so much for the ask, this was fun! 💖
